40.00 for 5 things at a thrift store
    chloe c.

Outrageous prices, misleading sale signs. I gathered up all my items expecting to save a some money from the $15 items (that I assumed would go on sale easily) and was disappointed at checkout to hear it only applied to the linens. It shouldn't cost $40 to buy used shirts and 2 sweaters.

Loft, carhartt, old navy to name a few! This is just a portion of one haul.

This place has become a weekend tradition for my sister and I. We spend a couple hours in here and while YES, it is cash only, and the store IS NOT organized by size - that makes it more of an experience and more exciting to see what the heck you'll find. I've walked out of this store almost every time I've visited with brand new, items that have just left the stores (dates on clothing tags is a thing, check them), unique vintage pieces you'll never find at a department store, "higher end" clothes I paid less than $15-20 for, and/or with an ENTIRE BAG filled with cute clothes from Old Navy, Gap, Merona, Express, American Eagle, J.Crew, BCBG, to name a few. for ~$40-50 tc. Maybe if people would stop whining, and think about the fact that you're not spending a fortune on clothes, it's the luck of the draw, every mans trash is another's treasure, you're recycling clothes (which, hello, good for the planet), and walk in with a little energy + positivity, you never know what you'll find. Basically, this place IS NOT for the weak hearted. I always find something I'm completely stoked about, you might too!

Hidden gem for pro thrifters! Can't beat the prices, variety, and how organized it was! Tons of clothes and housewares too. Designer items at low prices up front. Will be back soon.

Stepping through the door is like visiting a hoarder's house who made a feeble attempt in trying to create a thrift store. There's a lot of clothes here and they seem to be in line with what Goodwill would price them at. This is a one to two star business, but I'll add a star since they do make an effort to help the homeless. You're more likely to walk out of here empty-handed then to find some small treasure here. There's enough parking out front and you can grab a free condom on your way out.

Today I'm looking for curtains for a friend... exactly the kind that hide light and sound. So, you understand something very durable. Guess what??? I found them here. Bee and willow curtains panels that cost normally $49 and upwards for a panel. Today I found two curtain panels in the color I needed for just $7 and when I rung out they were half off. Thank God for favor! I have it where ever I go and yes I had alittle shout in the store... two panels for $7! You can't loose. I left super excited to wash and iron the curtains and on to putting them up. They look wonderful and my friend was finally sold in me getting the job done for less than a reasonable price. I don't know what you are looking for but this is a cool spot to thrift!!

Second Looks is clearly his baby: he's not just an attentive consultant, responding to your preferences on house, material, and tailoring (thankfully, he is not hesitant to offer his excellent suggestions on fit and styling), he's also a gentleman and a scholar, eager to share his considerable knowledge about the history of menswear, soul music, and rodeo, having been a cowboy himself before working in radio and taking over Second Looks. Michael's selection is fantastic. he showed me suits and separates from Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece, Drake's, Canali, and local Austin bespoke tailors Capra and Cavelli. He's got Allen Edmonds shoes and a great collection of belts, which seem to go very quickly. I didn't peruse his selection of casualwear, but it seemed just as well-curated and complete as his formal sections. I walked out with a Golden Fleece jacket and alligator belt having spent about $115--he gave me the educator discount. I couldn't have asked for better value. Having lived in Boston, Cleveland, Charleston, SC, Eugene, OR, Granada, Spain, and Norwich, England, I've never been so impressed by a menswear shop, let alone a secondhand store, or by its owner. TL;DR: Go see Michael. He's got the goods.

This place bills itself as a thrift store, but the prices are more in line with what you'd see in a consignment store. The aisles are very narrow in order to accommodate all the merchandise. They definitely have some collectible items, including some vintage stereo stuff. Inside you'll also find appliances, toys, furniture, tons of clothes, home decor, drum sets and electronics. They do offer sale prices on certain color tags which are likely the items that have been sitting around for a while. About half the space is given over to clothing and accessories, you'll also find three dressing rooms to try them on. This business doesn't just accept donations, they will purchase them as well. This thrift store carries a higher quality number of goods by far than your average Goodwill, but then again they are priced higher. Plenty of photos to peak your interest below.

The space is very truly a thrift shop--bit of everything everywhere in the main room, and it's very fun to walk around and look for little treasures! Kevin explained to me that he rearranges his shop pretty often (he cheekily calls the practice "funk shui") to get people's eyes on different items every time they come in. He tends to get his wares from estate sales, auctions, and considers himself a treasure hunter. And I must agree! Lots of treasures in Far Out, and I loved sifting through them. If you make your way in, you'll likely hear from Kevin that he's open to negotiation and bundling items for reasonable deals. He seems just to be genuinely excited to find cool items and give them new homes. And I appreciate that energy a lot. I came in looking, loosely, for some home decor as my husband and I outfit our home after moving back to Texas from Georgia. But nothing felt quite right on the decor side. But I saw some beautiful pieces and walked out of the store with a vintage book I was excited about. So I consider it a successful trip. :) Make a trip over to check out Kevin's treasures.
