We had a really bad trip to Knoxville (stuck in Dallas overnight with American Airlines). The car was reserved in my name as the driver, but we had to pay with my husband's card (he does not have a driver's license due to medical reasons). They were extremely helpful, understanding and efficient. Then when we returned the car, my granddaughter's phone fell between the seats and she didn't know. Overall great! Location: Easy to find next to baggage claim carousel. Which it's nice to be able get your car while waiting on the bags. It's also nice because it's climatized in the airport. Take note the Thrifty window was at Hertz. That was a little confusing. Customer Service: He was fine although no warm and fuzzies just straight to the point. It would be nice to be greeted especially since he was my first contact when arriving out of state. Rental: To my surprise I rented a compact and got an amazing 4 wheel drive Jeep. This was impressive since I needed it as it was snowing during my trip. The day I picked it up was clear but the day before I left it snowed in Pigeon Forge. We drove quite a bit as we visited many locations. The car was perfect, clean, well maintained and new. Return: Easy and seamless. I parked in an empty return spot, I was not told to do so but just a hunch. When I returned at 6am no one was around. So I placed my keys in lock box at window by baggage claim area where I got the keys originally. To my surprise when putting keys in box, the back was open of the lock box. I had to put my hand behind the box to push my keys to out of reach. No one was around so I was hoping no one would steal the keys. I saw a camera so I was thinking I might be safe. A few hours later I was relieved when my return was processed. Thrifty you are amazing but just a few small tweaks might help you. I'm thrilled with the customer service from beginning, Desk staff was pprofessional, friendly and informative. We rented a Jetta ,1st for us. Only concern was "other people's rental agreements located in glovebox, meaning wasn't cleaned in between.. car was clean inside, functioned easier for us as far as Bluetooth function and so forth. I purchased the Rental Car Damage Protection when I made the reservation with Thrifty. Thrifty counter was closed with a sign stating to go to the Hertz counter to pick up your rental. Hertz employee added $237.93 for the LDW insurance even though I declined it because I already had the coverage with Thrifty. Beware of up selling from this location. read more

Thrifty Car Rental - Cute rental! - Car Rental Near Me - Alcoa, Tennessee

It took a long time to get rental paperwork done due to desk being closed and having to use next rental customer desk. Attendant couldn't figure out how to get our contract finalized once credit card machine decided not to work. We were transferred to a different attendant. Rental was dirty inside. Lots of trash was left behind inside console by previous customers. Once in the rental car, there was no way to connect our phones for navigation purposes. It took us a while to figure out what we needed so we drove to nearest Walmart to purchase iphone cords to keep our phones charged and navigation system going. Once on the road, after about 300 miles, dash board gave us a message saying that Service Needed Immediately. We panicked, tried calling the rental place but noone picked up. I found their email on the contract and emailed them stating the problem. I received an email back saying not to worry and that car should be okay until the end of our 10 day trip. I couldn't stop thinking about it and was worried the whole time since we were traveling interstate. Message came back a second time saying car needed immediate service. Once again I emailed company with no response this second time. Thank goodness we finished our trip with no incidents. Next time I will make sure I get a rental that does not need immediate service. read more

All in all we had a good experience with Thrifty. Our flights kept getting delayed and pushed out, we finally made it to Knoxville around midnight. I had called ahead to tell them and fortunately someone was at the desk when we arrived. When booking a car several weeks in advance, we had asked for a full-sized car (like Malibu, Camry or similar), however upon arrival the only car we were offered was a Dodge Charger. In fact, a bunch of Chargers was about all we saw on the Thrifty lot. Definitely not a comfortable car for 4 people nor anywhere near what we wanted to drive for the long weekend. But we did anyway. It worked and got us where we needed to go. BRING A CREDIT CARD, NOT DEBIT!!! My fiancé tried to pay for the rental with a visa debit card but we were not allowed, it had to be a separate credit card. Why? No clue. We don't use credit cards, only our debit visa. In order to use it they would need to call our insurance company to verify we are insured and all sorts of other flim-flam. Well, it was midnight and that wasn't going to happen. We couldn't pay by cash nor would she let me pay with my visa (which I did have on hand for emergencies). After quite a while of stress and confusion, she changed her mind and said that if she put me as a 2nd driver that I could pay for it with my visa. Grrrrrr... well, at least we didn't have to walk all weekend! So, we had some glitches. But I still am giving a 4 star review because we did get a car, it did get it paid for, we didn't have any problems at all (besides the fact that we now know that Dodge Chargers center consoles are totally ridiculous and weird). Would rent through them again though... only making sure we actually get the car we signed up for and have a "real" visa with us. read more

After waiting for about 10 minutes for an attendant to help me, the process to process my reserved rental truck went smoothly. I was just puzzled that being the only customer in line, why it took so long to get help for my reservation pickup. But as soon as i was attended to, the process again went rather smoothly. The agent was extremely professional and friendly. He made me aware of the caveats concerning the rental agreement. Again, everything was going to plan until it came time to find my vehicle in the airport parking garage. I was told to go right on the last row to find my vehicle. Unbeknownst to me, my vehicle was at the end of the aisle to the left. So that was rather frustrating. I suggest that Thrifty put a better system in place so that the rental vehicle will be in a parking slot where there will be no confusion on it's exact location. When my truck was located, I was impressed with it's cleanliness, appearance and upgrades. It was a great truck for my trip and it exceeded my expectations for performance. Upon dropping off the rental, the checkout was seamless and convenient. The price of my rental vehicle was competitively priced. So i was satisfied with that aspect. Getting the vehicle was a breeze! But when I got to the auto I could not believe how dirty it was? Exterior and Interior. There was dog fur all over the seats and dog slobber on all the windows. Rented through AAA, good price for last minute rental due to car issues and needing to attend a funeral over the weekend. Agent at counter was not friendly, seemed put off by having to rent us the SUV. Even called the "home office" to confirm the rental because it "didn't seem right" and I stated I knew what I ordered and expected the SUV. Got a Ford Explorer and was happy with it. Could not get into the vehicle because it was parked too close to the vehicle to the left. Staff member had to crawl through the passenger side to get in and pull vehicle out. Staff in parking garage was nice and friendly, the guy behind the counter in the airport not so much. Return was easy. No issues. I don't know why but they refused to accept a debit card as payment.
