I have chronic problems with my right knee especially after karate training and previous remedy given to me was to drink prescription pain medicine. As I started my black belt training from January to May - Tuesday to Saturday, I could not imagine myself drinking pain meds every day so I was looking for a better solution. I saw a Groupon for 20/20 Chiropractic and was willing to try it. First visit was a consultation about what I was feeling and how can they help me - we did some stretches and some x-ray. What amazed me was Dr. Bauer's observation when I first lay flat on the table. His first comment was "wow, your legs are not the same length. One is shorter than the other." I was surprised. No one has ever told me that! I never mentioned to them that my wife did observe that I wobble when I walk. He then explained that it is very similar to misaligned car tires: the car will be wobbly, one side will be more worn out than the other (which matches my problem with long walk: my one leg seems to always be in pain afterwards). I then came back after two days to review the x-ray results. 1) They showed me what should be a good x-ray of the neck versus mine - mine lost the natural curve and had some growth already. They asked me if I experience neck pains - yes, but I just thought it is a stiff neck due to wrong sleeping posture. 2) As for my uneven legs, my one side is kind of pushed in/twisted in that made it uneven. 3) My spine had no issue except that it is a little bit on an acute angle. We came up with a plan of treatment where I come more frequent as they start correcting my issues and I intensify my training and will gradually decrease as maintenance. There are also follow up meetings to reassess my condition and given tips on proper stretches to help me in the long run. My training during the first few treatments is awesome. I do not have any more knee pain even after intense training. I am able to train 5 days a week without feeling any pain on my knee. My black belt test is on May 8; I am positive that I could have not reached this far and be able to meet my goal without their help! Last year, I had to stop going to the chiropractor cause my work schedule changed and I just couldn't fit in regular weekly appointments anymore. I originally purchased a package from Dr.Bauer. I spent about two thousand dollars on a package around 25 or so adjustments. When working with them to correct my severe back pain they insisted on seeing me three times a week. Doing so for so long they didnt promise correction just that it wouldn't get worse. I had relief but it was a very slow process to any sort of real improvement. I suppose it's because their approach seemed more like a fast food experience for chiropractic care. You would literally lay down they adjust you and then you leave. An in and out process. Five to ten minutes tops. The new ownership is definitely an upgrade. I had to take a break from going in for the package I bought from previous owner and the new ownership honored their packages. I was so happy I didnt lose thousands of dollars. They were able to make a walk in appointment for me. I have to admit I was very nervous to have a new doctor to preform my adjustment. I asked about the doctors medical background and interrogated the patient he just adjusted. She had rave reviews so I went forward with the appointment. It was completely different. They did stem electrotherapy with heat. Then traction and a massage with a medical device. After all that is when the doctor performed my adjustment. It was the best adjustment I have ever had. (That's why I had to write a review.) My severe back pain was about 80percent gone. I had my range of motion back, I was extremely stiff beforehand. It was difficult bending to tie my shoes or put my clothes on. I believe my body needed the whole process they preform not just an adjustment like the previous owner. I needed to loosen up my muscles before just going straight in and cracking my spine. I am beyond a happy customer. I was so happy I recommended this place to my mother . I was also so happy that their adjustments where so fairly priced. To continue being seen there they said it was only $75 a visit or 6 visits for $300. Which would only be $50 a visit. At first I was really skeptical about chiropractor. I always thought it was unreal and almost like a placebo effect. Until one day, I decided to try it because I had a free check up and adjustment. From that point on, I knew I made the best decision of my life. Throughout my life I've been getting pretty bad migraines and headaches almost once a week. It was so painful I sometimes throw up or can not even go about my daily activities. Now after a few weeks of adjusting, my headaches and migraines almost went away. If it did come around the pain level was at a 1 to 2, out for a 10 scale. Also I noticed that my cat allergies went away! There are many more symptoms in my body that went away or healed drastically after being adjusted. Now I just have to keep at it and see what other daily life improvement it can bring. I've held off on writing a review for a few months because I wanted to get a second opinion first. I first went into 20/20 Chiropractic to meet Dr. Bauer in May, 2016 due to some lower back pain. He was very nice, smart, and accommodating - no complaints there. He was pretty thorough in his consultation and encouraged me to take x-rays. In the next appointment, Dr. Doyle walked me through my x-rays. Although she was nice, I did feel very pressured into thinking my spine was really horrible. She said I was on the path to becoming an old lady bent over at a grocery store. She was joking, but it was still a little bizarre to say during a consultation. Again, Dr. Bauer and Dr. Doyle were very friendly and thorough. My complaint comes from the $3180 plan they made for me. Apart from the option to just go in whenever you want, they have 4 pre-packaged plans. The sheet they give you has everything from information on each of the plans to financing information. It feels very impersonal and more profit-oriented than health oriented. They also don't provide adjustments on weekends - only massages. I had already told both of them that I worked in San Francisco and am unable to come in 3 times during the weekday. I told them that I could come in twice a week when I work from home, but they said that 3x/week would be the most effective. On multiple occasions, they said they would provide recommendations in San Francisco so that I could go during the weekday, but they did not. They did provide a recommendation in San Jose who practiced on the weekends, but that contradicts their 3x/week recommendation anyway. I know this is certainly not an uncommon practice at chiropractor's offices so I'm not giving 1 star. I didn't want to dish out $3180 immediately so I went to receive a second opinion. The doctor just about laughed at the plan. I went to this new office 6 times (as opposed to 20/20's recommended 48 adjustments, 6 1-hour massages, and 4 re-examinations) and am still feeling great. I usually see Dr. Kauffman at the Thrive Milpitas location because he is just phenomenal. He has always taken such great care of any pain I've had over the years and kept my body in great condition via routine adjustments. However, due to a recent accident, I instead booked the next available appointment to be seen which happened to be at the Thrive 20/20 San Jose location. Long story short, I slipped, fell, and gave myself whiplash from turning too quickly while trying to catch myself during the fall. The resulting pain in my neck arrived immediately and progressively worsened. The following morning, the pain was so severe, I couldn't even sit up in bed and was instead forced to roll over on my side in order to push myself upright. I knew right away that I probably shouldn't brush this incident off and risk long-term damage so I called in to book an appointment. The wonderful staff member that picked up listened empathetically when I explained my situation to her. Knowing I was in an immense amount of pain, she swiftly scheduled me in for an appointment with Dr. Nic. Having seen Dr. Kauffman countless times over the years has clearly set the bar extremely high for me. However, my appointment with Dr. Nic. was simply outstanding! He was warm, friendly, patient, and super efficient. I could tell that he was highly attuned to the needs of his patients based upon the questions he asked about my symptoms and his proposed treatment plan. He even graciously took the time to answer the random questions I had about spine degeneration in-detail and was clearly knowledgeable and passionate about his role. After the treatment, I walked out feeling way less tension and barely any discernible pain. These stellar experiences across both locations really just reaffirmed to me that Thrive really cares about providing high quality care to their patients. However, after receiving an assessment and comprehensive treatment plan from 20/20, I sought a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon, a PT, and another well-respected chiropractor (with great Yelp reviews.) They all felt that the 20/20 plan was excessive, unnecessary, and potentially unrealistic. Yet I felt pressured to sign on the dotted line and give a massive down payment for treatment that may or may not address my neck problem. I was instilled with fear that if I didn't commit, my problems would be catastrophic later on. That might not be the case, according to the other doctors. I think you can get good care at this clinic, but I'd recommend that you shop around and seek a second opinion. read more

I'll do you all a service and tell you right from the start that your search is over- go see Dr. Bauer!! I have never been to a chiropractor before, and to me, going to see one didn't seem like the obvious solution for the severe pain that I had been suffering from. For months I've had excruciating pain in my neck and left shoulder, and shooting sharp pains down my left arm to my fingertips. Every MD I saw told me it was a pulled muscle and gave me anti-inflammatory's, muscle relaxers, and pain meds and sent me on my way with a few stretches to try. But they didn't work!!! Thanks to a nudge from my sister, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Jason Bauer. Minutes into my examination he identified the source of my pain as a herniated disc. He then performed my first adjustment and I immediately felt some relief. For the first time in months I had hope that this pain wouldn't last forever or require surgery. When I first laid down on the table I was having a hard time enduring the pain it was causing in my neck but after the first "crack", for lack of a better term (I'm still new to this), the intensity of the burning pain in my neck felt some relaxation. I was skeptical and a little scared but was desperate. I've been dealing with many different health problems which I will keep private:-). Because my son's experience with Dr. Bauer through Groupon was so good, I decided to see if he could help me with the residual neck, shoulder and low back issues I'd had for years following a car accident, despite going through physical therapy. I'm part way through his recommended treatment, and my improvement is just about where he'd predicted we'd be by this time. In fact, after my last adjustment, I felt fantastic, because he actually was able to get that one spot I thought I was just stuck with to move into alignment. My low back issues are now virtually nonexistent, and my neck and shoulder have gotten much better, which has helped my sleep improve, too. Dr. Bauer has a very personable manner, and is professional yet fun to talk with. He is able to use different approaches or techniques that allow me to relax enough for the adjustments to happen, and stresses that everyone has similar resistance, so I never feel like I'm part of the problem. A long overdue review but Dr. Bauer and his staff are great. I always feel so much better after an adjustment. He makes an effort to be professional, encouraging, and personable. First they take a baseline X-ray to see the curvature of the spine and neck. Then they tailor the adjustments to your needs. Dr. Bauer takes notes on the best way to approach the adjustments (either laying face down or face up). He also integrates physical exercises into the treatment plan to enhance the progress. Have a talk with him about the research behind it if you like. :) There's a room to complete the exercises off to the side of the adjusting area. He often reminds me to do them when I get wrapped up with my busy schedule. It's not the cheapest procedure to do, but they'll try and work with your financial situation. And the 4 free massages included in the package are definitely a plus! read more

This is a review about the management here not about the treatment or doctors. I was a patient with Dr Bauer from 2016 to 2017 and bought the package here. I had no idea that the business was transferred to another team until this year in August. I spent $2680 on a package that was not supposed to be expired, and started that treatment plan at the beginning of 2017. Until around July 2017, I moved further and felt less obligated to go back and decide to use the package for some drop-in visits. So after I revisit in August 2018, I was told that my package is all expired in May 2018, and they got this new management since Jan 2018. And from Jan 2018 to May 2018, no one has ever phoned me about this thing and they automatically make old clients packages expired in May 2018. I was so pissed that I probably lose over $1500 value of the package and the front desk lady said there was nothing she could do and suggested me to contact the old owner. I did, and which again, he suggested me to contact the new owner. I realize that this is going to be hopeless and I have to accept that I lost my $$$ here on my past decision. Seriously, please don't run business like this and I have no interest going back again to place like this. --- updated review 10/29 Got reached out by Dr Kauffman's office this morning and they said they've looked into my profile and they had the wrong numbers on file. That's probably why I didn't get the email and messages. They will go ahead and honor my package and I really appreciate this. I have been going to Thrive Milpitas (their other office) for a while now and moved over to this new office since it's closer to my work. Thrive Milpitas is amazing their staff is professional and so welcoming, the therapists know what they're doing and Dr. K is the best chiropractor in town (as mentioned in other reviews and Milpitas post #1 chiro for 6 years in a row!) I was a bit hesitant to move to this office because I was so used to the Milpitas location but luckily for me it's the same feel with the staff, the nice and clean office, everyone's professional and it's nice to see Dr. K here too! I had back and neck issues from a car accident and both dr. K and Dr. Rosson helped me so much with treating my injuries. The stim, heat, stretching and adjustments helped me back to life and I couldn't thank Thrive enough for always having my back, cheesy pun not intended! Immediate pain relief! During a recent move I had a sudden and debilitating flare up of sciatica and could barely walk .I checked yelp and found Dr. Jason Bauer at 20/20. He got me in that afternoon, quickly assessed my situation and gave me a series of adjustments that took only about 30 minutes. The next day, I was pain free! I had never considered seeing a chiropractor for anything until I attended a free chair massage session sponsored by 20/20 Chiropractic, which provided me with what was essentially a gift card for $100 which would cover an initial consultation and 'getting to know you adjustment' (their phrasing). Going into it, I felt apprehensive as I've been dealing with severe headaches multiple times per week for approximately 15 years, and I wasn't sure if a chiropractor was the right person to help with that. I had previously been diagnosed by an MD with chronic sinus infections, and was told that the sinus infections were the cause of my headaches. I figured I'd give it a month or two and see how it went.. I'm happy to report that as of today I've been through 14 adjustments and would rate my improvement on both my headaches and mid/upper back pain as a 50% improvement. Despite the fact that not everyone agrees with chiropractic medicine, it's working for me - and I would encourage anyone who thinks it may be helpful to check out 20/20 Chiropractic. I also feel like I should make a comment regarding Dr. Jason Bauer. Dr. Bauer is a true professional - and he legitimately cares about his patients. He's professional, yet personable, and always takes extra time to explain things very well any time I have a question. He also holds a 60-90 minute workshop for his new patients once a month just to talk about the history or chiropractic, as well as talk in depth about what adjustments are and why they're used as a tool to help improve various conditions. He's also very clear that chiropractic isn't meant to be a 'cure' for anything - but it is meant to be helpful. I have never encountered a medical professional of any type who takes that kind of time out of their day just to educate their patients. As a patient who is having noticeable improvement on multiple symptoms, I can't speak highly enough about 20/20 Chiropractic, the work of Dr. Jason Bauer, and his staff; I would absolutely recommend it in a heartbeat. read more
