Stopped in for a quick cocktail before seeing a play and was not disappointed! It was $20 for the pictured cube and was made perfect for me and my girlfriend to get a buzz going. Well worth the money. The bartender was awesome as well interacting with us. The place did have a smell to it but not terrible and it was aired out with the door open, all in all we will be back!

Throwbacks is a great little bar off Sanford Avenue in downtown Sanford. This bar has changed hands a couple of times over the years. It used to be called the Stranded Sailor Pub then after that the British pub (the owner was from somewhere in England). Back in those days the venue showcased a band almost every weekend. The Bands were mostly a local rock/punk style genre which we enjoyed although it could be LOUD at times. Regardless, we appreciated the great drink specials and the opportunity to see a local band performing original music right here in downtown Sanford. Now, Throwbacks has more of a sports/interactive gaming vibe which caters to more customers in my opinion. There are a variety of FREE games you can play with friends while enjoying a drink or some quality food from their limited menu. There are multiple TV monitors available for watching sports related entertainment and CHIVE TV. They have a decent sized liquor bar along with some of the best craft beers available for purchase. Robbie (the owner) and Drew have always been super nice and helpful on every visit. I never have to wait long for a drink, even on busy nights. Once you get to know the crew, they treat you like royalty. There are several large picnic style tables available for dining/drinking and a smaller raised platform that allows additional seating next to the window to view activity on Sanford Avenue. There is a small undeveloped seating area in the front of the venue. I look forward to seeing what Robbie decides to do with this portion of the building. Additionally, there is also a large fenced-in back patio area they will most likely dress up in the near future. All-n-all Throwbacks is one of my favorite pubs in downtown Sanford. They have a great thing going and I look forward to see where they will be in a few years to come.

Cute little place in downtown Sanford! Was not really liking the people singing in the karaoke, but I do appreciate the old school games and the bartender was amazing!

This place is great if you're in the mood for good drinks and good vibes. The retro decor and games took me back to the 80's and 90's when gaming was simple and fun! This place had a little bit of everything. Drinks, games, good music and food. I stopped in after dinner, so I didnt have a chance to try the food, however I did order a Moscow Mule which was good and the price was perfect for the area. Throwbacks is conveniently located in downtown Sanford, which is up and coming and a chill place to hang out! I'd definitely visit again, and try the wings.

Fun little Sanford, no-frills dive bar...warm staff and friendly space! I picked up some to-go White Claw Slushies to enjoy at home, and I'm looking forward to going back once the Quarantine is lifted!

Had to get bloodwork done at 6:30am, so afterwards we were close to here and craving breakfast, so it was a no-brainer to stop in here. Having been born and raised in Mississippi, I am always on the hunt for some good southern homestyle cooking and I for sure found it here. First, everything about the outside and inside of the restaurant reminded me of all the lil mom and pop restaurants I was raised going to. Great nostalgia for me. Now was the food going to live up to what the place looked like?? YES! So I went in craving breakfast and then what did my little eye spy on the menu? An open-faced roast beef sandwich and they service breakfast and lunch all day? Well, yes, please and thank you! Forget brekkie, I went straight for that open-faced roast beef with fried and all of it covered in gravy. OH MY! I'm talking this is the kinda food that (as we say in the Deep South) makes you wanna slap your momma! The bread was piled high with fresh roast beef. The fries were steak fries which are my favorite. The gravy topping everything was just the chef's kiss to set everything off! So many things I want to try on the menu, but I think it's going to be a while before I order anything other than that open-faced roast beef! Hubby had scrambled eggs, toast, hash (his fav brekkie food and he asked for it crispy - they delivered), and breakfast potatoes. He said everything was great and that it's the best hash he's had. I have never been a fan of hash, but I always try it. This has I would definitely eat. It was good. Can't say I'd order it myself because I'm just not a fan, but if this is the breakfast that was served to me, I definitely wouldn't turn my nose up at it. Anyway, two big thumbs up from hubby. Wheelchair friendly. Clean restrooms. Great service from our attentive and sweet server. Food came out very fast. I also much mention the Diet Coke. You know how some are just better from certain fountains? Yes, this was one of those cold fountain Coke's that was just so good. It really hit different. I ordered water as per usual because I try to not drink soda too much, especially while I eat, but hubby mentioned how good it was so, of course I had to try it. He was right. Very good indeed. If you are in the area, don't miss out on this lil restaurant. You will not be disappointed! The only negative thing I can say is they are only open until 3pm on weekdays and only until 2pm on the weekends. Guess that's a good complaint though. LOL Sure wish they were open for dinner too b/c we'd really be eating here a lot!!

Based on our lousy service and our terrible meal, it hasn't been nearly long enough. The food was miserable. How hard can it be to make crisp french fries? Tasteless food of questionable quality served incompetently earns the Triple Crown of a just flat-out bad dinner. To be polite, the bartender was a simpleton. He ignored not just us, but also the folks next to us - all of us who were sitting directly in front of him for 20 minutes without acknowledgement nor any eye contact in a mostly empty bar. No wonder there were no customers - combining his complete dearth of service and the trash food being served, it isn't a surprise why this place was empty on a Friday night. We miss Buster. Please take his name off the building. He would never serve the crap that was put in front of us. And Percy woulda run that loser masquerading as a bartender off faster than the diarrhea that hit us when we got home.

A wonderful happy hour menu, led us to a full menu of what felt like a farm to table experience. I sadly didn't get to snap a photo of the excellent appetizer buratta, but it was a perfect blend of balsamic tomato and creamy cheese! I am a true foodie, and this was hands-down the best burger I've ever eaten. My husband absolutely loved his shrimp and grits, perfectly cooked and well balanced flavor. Well, I know everyone recommends the chocolate cake, I can't rave enough about the crème brûlée. Do yourself a favor and go out of your way to enjoy a " private chef experience" meal! One of my favorite things about it is that it hasn't changed much over the years, but in the best way. It's family-run, the vibe is comfortable and familiar, and the staff has always been amazing. We've had countless dinners here with big groups (10+ people), and they deliver every single time. That kind of consistency is rare. What I order every single visit: Salad with house dressing, it's honestly one of my favorite dressings anywhere. Loaded Buckskins - You have to get these. Think a cross between a steak fry and a potato wedge, loaded with cheese and bacon, addictively good. Petite strip steak - Perfect portion, cooked and seasoned just right every time. Simple, consistent, and exactly what you want.
