Found this gem next to our AirBnB last night. If you want to start the weekend off on a high note come stop by here Saturday night. I've never been to a distillery that had rum, vodka, gin, scotch AND bourbon made in-house. My sound advice is to try the "Sage Advice" drink. I'm not a fan of bourbon but the "Bloody Mules" and the "Smashed and Bloody" drinks were flowing off the bar. My date had a Gurley Street Gin martini. Bottles were available to purchase. Hard cider and beer are also available. And what made the evening even more special, we were greeted by Blue, the resident dog, as we listened to free entertainment from the Billy Reno band. Fun place with great vibe & drinks. Loved their mixed drinks. I tried the tasting, but apparently I'm a wuss when it comes to straight hard alcohol. We did the tour and sampling off a groupon we found, and you have to make a reservation for the tour. They are closed mon-thursday, and we were never able to get them on the phone but were able to get a speedy response through email. The tour was a bit awkward.. we didn't know if we should sit or stand as you're in the middle of the room with other patrons sitting around you. The owner who gave the tour was very informative, and I wish I had something in my life I was that passionate about. You can tell he really loves what he creates, and he's very proud of his work. My mother must have offended him at some point because he snapped at her for asking if they made beer as well, not knowing it wasn't also a brewery. (I surprised her with the tour) The staff were a bit abrasive, and the lack of service in general was off-putting. We had to approach the bartender for service after sitting there for 10 minutes and to pay our bill. We only interacted with her those two times. The dog stole the show and our heart, though. He was friendly and so cuddly. read more

Just went to have a tour that was given as a gift. It was really nice we went during a quiet time. We really got the personal attention. Your husbands will love it if they are whiskey drinkers. We stopped by to pick up a bottle or two. We had our puppy in the car, wasn't sure if they were dog friendly. Blue was out front and asked if we could bring our dog in. She was welcomed. We ordered a couple cocktails, whiskey sour and a Collins. Both drinks were amazing. We bought a couple bottles for later. Owners were super friendly and welcoming. Definitely returning! read more

While in Prescott we went to check out Thumb Butte's whiskey's and we were very impressed of the three in our flight the best was the Robert's Rye made for Robert Mitchum's son who apparently lives in the area. Very flavorful 100 proof rye. We got to talk to the brains behind the mixtures and cocktails, Justin, and he was very informative and knowledgeable. He made us a layered bourbon shot with homemade almond and coffee liqueur which was delicious and he also made us a killer Old Fashioned. Every additive to make cocktails is made in house along with a variety of liqueurs. Besides from whiskey they make gin, vodka and even Amaro. Next time we are up in Prescott we will return. read more

Definitely book the tour,very informative! Plus it comes with a 7 flight of great spirits! What surprised me where the three different gins they offer,i'm usually not a big fan of gin,mostly because I don't like having a perfumed flower bouquet shoved down my throat,but the gins they make have subtle flavors which I can definitely see myself drinking more of! We had the tour and Eric was great and sharing information. Jim was very nice when we met him. Eric had told us multiple times that Brandon was going to help us. Brandon did not help us. He didn't come to our table and he set up our table with gin flight early and our ice was melted. I'm not sure why he did not want to help us at all. He was supposed to be serving us but chose never to make contact. I was offended. read more

I purchased my parents tickets to a tasting for the beginning of July. When they showed up, they were closed with no warning. Both phone numbers were disconnected and I emailed with no reply. When I issued a charge back, my bank deemed ME at fault and I couldn't get my money back. Save yourself the money - this place sucks. I see from other reviews that they have "closed" with no warning. Throughly enjoyed a tour and tasting at Thumb Butte Distillery. James gave us an informative tour with a tasting flight of vodka, rum, bourbon and rye. Truly enjoyable experience. If I am going to drink gin, I usually choose Hendrinks, but, their Western Sage Gin was wonderful and we are going home with a bottle. :) Denise made us a "Pants on Fire" cocktail to try which was as much fun to watch her prepare as it was tasty! We made a special trip to Prescott to sample the goods here at Thumb Butte Distillery since we purchased a Groupon offer for the tour and tastings. We requested reservations via email and promptly responded to with confirmation of our time and date. On arrival, we were greeted immediately and promptly seated while we waited for our tour to start. We ordered a cocktail while we waited and chatted it up with the friendly and knowledgeable staff! The tour group was a nice friendly bunch and the space surprisingly small for a distillery. We're no distillery experts by any means so if it works for them all the better! They seem to really know their stuff and have it down to a science when it comes to what they're making! The tour guide was quite friendly and knowledgeable despite only having worked there for a short-ish period of time. There must be so much to learn about all the different spirit styles they produce! We picked up a bottle or two to take back to the valley. We'll be back again and look forward to trying whatever happens to be their newest, latest and greatest spirits! To anyone with any interest in fine craft spirits I overwhelming recommend the five star boutique Thumb Butte Distillery. All over their spirits were top notch. This place was truly a hidden gem experience in the town of Prescott. Our bartender/taster Linda was awesome and so easy to talk to. She turned what would normally have been a 30 minute tasting into a two-hour afternoon of laughs, fine spirits and great company and conversation. Make sure you go when she's there and tip her well! Lastly I also recommend the cheese plate prepared for us by the owner. The cheeses were all great quality, good portions, and completed all they had to offer. Whatever your liquor of choice may be, Thumb Butte has it, and I cannot recommend this place enough! read more

We got a tour and tasting for 2 on Groupon and walked to this gem from our hotel. Tucked away in a neighborhood it has a beautiful building. The tour from the owner was interesting and informative. Friendly, chill vibe. The tasting was great too, they also have a bar, appetizers, and live music on the weekends. Seems like this is a place where the cool cars from the older generation hang out, but definitely a great vibe. read more

This place has wonderful cocktails. Last time I was here I would have given It 5 stars!!!! This time the bar tender was so hammered she kept pouring short. This was the first time I had ever gone to a craft distillery. The place was big but most of the space was taken up with machines, which makes sense for a distillery. We brought my 4 year old daughter with us the owners were great! They brought her out some snacks while we had our tastings. The 1888 Rye Whiskey is great, we drank a bottle the night before but the new batch we tried was even better. They brought out a couple of the special reserve bottles which was some of the best whiskey I've ever had. I would recommend anyone who likes whiskey, bourbon, or vodka to stop by. We arrived early for our tour and took the opportunity to sit at their adorable bar. The bar is tucked into the front corner of their big distillery warehouse. With the high open windows, and decor it was very bright and inviting. The bartenders are good at their job. They are very friendly and good at selling their wares! We had some great cocktails. (It is often hard to find an authentic Sazerac but they nailed it.) The tour left a lot to be desired though! It was a short walk around the little warehouse and though interesting it was not quite worth the ticket price. Go to sit at the bar. Go to try their cocktails. Go to buy some bottles of fantastic craft liquor. Instead of paying for a tour get a few more cocktails! We plan to make this a regular stop when we happen to be in Prescott! read more

We purchased their Groupon and requested a reservation for a tour (their terms for being able to use the Groupon) several times but never heard back from them. I emailed them per their instructions and nada. It was very disappointing because we were looking forward to visiting them. Attended the tour and learned SO much. What a great group of people and their cocktails were amazing and delicious. It's a small place right now but they are definitely going to grow. This place was absolutely amazing!! We did the tour with Jim then had drinks after with Justin and Eric. Jim was great explaining the process to us then Justin helped us with drinks after. We had a blast! We walked there from whiskey row which was a nice walk. We bought couple bottles to take home. Justin even gave us some home recipes to try to make. Best place in Prescott so far! A must do while visiting Prescott! Been to several breweries but this was our first visit to a distillery. Jim, the master distiller, gives a great tour and we learned a lot of things we didn't know about distilled spirits. Great service and great spirits. I tasted the Western Sage Gin, Seasonal winter flower gin, bloody basin bourbon, and rodeo drive. The Gins were both really well rounded and the western sage had some sweetness to it that I really liked. Bloody basin was an easy sipper and the rodeo rye was smooth with the right amount of rye kick. The star was their new experiment: a gin aged in rum barrels! This was fantastic and I hope it gets this distillery's name out there. You get some sweetness and spice from the rum at the start and then the zing of the gin comes in. It was very unique and tasty! They are planning on calling if gin rummy!Great experience and service. read more

We came on a Saturday afternoon to use our Groupon. This was a perfect start to a date night out in Prescott having come up from Phoenix. We were greeted and given our tour. Getting information for the person doing the work you get a feel for the effort and care they put into their spirits. Their efforts to source ingredients showed in the tastes. I appreciate how they are making efforts to use their waste as feed and hope to come back for the native corn whiskey. We had our tasting and hung out for another drink. The drinks are excellent. If I lived here this would be one of my hangout spots before a night out. The service and music selection completed an experience I recommend. Stop in, have a tour, a drink, and support local.
