THUNDER! THUNDERRRR! THUNDER STUDIOS! HoooOoOooOoAhhh! *Thundercats reference voice* In the straight up border of Long Beach and Carson lies the multi-media venue studio itself: Thunder Studios! This is basically a HUGE movie/TV studio with all of the technical tools for any filming production company to be creative with whatever products they are making. I've been here more than once mainly because I work in the wrestling business/industry & have seen some of my co-workers put on some of the best damn shows on here thanks to MLW Major League Wrestling. This place is very very spacious for seating and standing room occupancy. They also have a bar, food area and spots for various meet and greets, signing, picture ops, etc.. Restrooms are clean as much as the staff can handle during shows. The sound here is NICE because duhhh! It's a freakin' entertainment filming studio! So it's some awesome quality shit! My ONLY reason for me to -1 star is as a fan....I don't like they charge around $30 just to park inside. That's so damn ridiculous. It isn't even in a high traffic area with a bunch of trendy spots around like Downtown L.A. or Hollywood, so wtf? Many are stuck having to park outside of this venue where some have gotten their catalytic converters stolen and/or their vehicles broken into or even stolen because it's in a semi-sketchy part of the Long Beach/Carson border. Aside from that 1 negative, Thunder Studios is a pretty damn cool venue and all-around entertainment hub of fun, creativity, production, etc. I've been able to hang out with my sport, MMA, wrestling and entertainment biz homies from Matt Riddle, to actor Paul Walter Hauser, Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr. and some of my TMZ peoples at this venue. read more

We came to watch my coach fight and had a blast. The venue is spacious, the seating is great, and we had a really good view of the action. The only downside was parking, it was $30 even though the sign said $10. read more

Attended an event here, and the event itself was more of a mess than the facilities, but it didn't help that the restroom was unclean, and only limited to a few stalls on one side, and super long line for the other restroom in the space. Part of the AC vents on the side wall of a studio room was just blowing air out of an open vent, and couches were noticeably dirty under the lights. It's a spacious space for sure, but there were so many different rooms, and felt like a maze going around the venue to different rooms. There is street parking available, but the area may not be the nicest, right next to trucks coming in and out of the commercial space nearby. Overall, I doubt I'll have an opportunity to come back to this space, but the facilities could use a bit of an upgrade to be cleaner. read more

Attended a meeting here and it was set up nicely for the meetings, several different rooms and a main room, restrooms were fine, they had parking and overall it is a nice space, can't attest to the logistical and production side but as an attendee it was a nice venue for a meeting. read more

Filmed a 1-day commercial at Thunder Studios on their LED stage and the entire experience was wonderful! From Candela helping answer our questions to the Stage Managers, everyone was so kind and easy to work with. Loki and Paul on the LED team were great to work with and super helpful in getting our assets uploaded and played at the correct times. The studio itself was extremely clean and well maintained, which is not always the case with a lot of stages I've filmed at over the years. You can tell everyone there takes pride in their workplace and trying to make it the best experience possible for all parties involved. read more

I found out about Thunder Studios when I attended and participated in this year's La Bulla, which is a luche libre art, music and cultural festival. During the day, it's nondescript and quiet but during the event, because it is a blank slate, tranformed into a fun space where a fashion show, wrestling matches and a concert took place. The outdoor area had plenty of space for vendors to set up. Now I know that my review is limited to being an audience member but if I knew an event another event is taking place here, I would definitely go. There is ample parking on the street or you can have your vehicle valeted. Overall, if you are an even producer or if you need a space to do a multimedia project, definitely consider this spot in Long Beach. read more

This place blows. The food sucks, the loading docks suck, not enough bathrooms, and did I mention the food sucks. They force you to use their catering and craft service. Oh - you're thinking about bringing in a catering truck? Think again. The food is absolutely horrible. I hope you like spaghetti. Cause they serve it three times a week. Craft service offers almost zero healthy options. Been working here three weeks now, and one day they brought in bananas. They have had the same Granny Smith apples since I started. That's all they offer. Enough with the food. Let's talk docks. They have two ramps that have major lips on them which creates difficulty rolling anything with wheels over it. The docks for trucks are reasonable but no where near the stages. The stages grid work is poor so grips will need extra rig time. Now it is Covid times so all stages share the same bathroom. One for men and one for the ladies. They have their area set up for catering and they have dirty tables that I have never seen anyone clean and they certainly don't clean in between groups. And it's in the middle of BFE!!! read more

I visited Thunder Studios this past weekend as they hosted the Pokemon State Championships. They have a good sized lot on the corner of Del Amo Blvd and South Santa Fe in the Long Beach area. It appears there are numerous offices, but j couldn't tell eactlu what was behind the darkly smoked glass on the doors and windows of buildings. The one studio that was used was pretty good sized. There was a large green screen on one end of the room that rose to the top of the ceiling. The studio itself was about the size if a small basketball court. High ceilings probably a little over 30 feet high. There were also smaller studios or open spaces adjacent to this studio and a small kitchen area and bathrooms just down the hall. The studio served its purpose for the day in hosting this event. The location accomodated over 200 trainers and a handful of parents or significant others. I walking to the venue it looked like there was another filming going on in another studio, but I didn't have a chance to see or ask what was bein filmed. Keep on Yelp'n! read more

If you dont want parking, but you want your crew hungry and pissed the second half of the day... shoot here. The craft service had decent options, but catering has been disgusting every shoot and every day I've been there. The food seems almost purposesly terrible and the portions are child size. There are only 2 bathrooms for all the stages. read more

Thunder Studios? More like Blunder Studios! I have worked in the film industry for going on 21 years and this is easily the worst stage I have ever shot at. It makes every attempt to appear fancy, safe, clean, and hip. Unfortunately it is none of those things. Their catering is also dog food. read more

Just finished on a job here; this is possibly the worst and grossest place I've had to work. Bathrooms are a mess and not cleaned regularly. The fact that there is only 1 men's bathroom with 3 stalls for a space that can occupy 400-500 people should send chills through your spine. Hello? Is there anyone even working here? It was impossible to find staff to help bring supplies and even when you did everyone here seems miserable (which should tell you something about the management). The talent holding area we used for 4 weeks were never properly cleaned; the floors not swept, mopped and surfaces not cleaned (even during Covid). Avoid this place!!! read more

Before today, I had no idea a studio lot existed in Long Beach. Thunder studios is hidden in plain sight, in a corner of Northwest Long Beach. There are at least 14 sound stages, a small commissary, and a gated parking lot. Our production looked to be the only one working today and parking was scarce. The lot looks like it would have trouble accommodating several productions simultaneously. read more
