My boyfriend and I went there on Saturday for lunch, as I'd been recommended it and it happened to be on my 'to try' list. They had a large buffet (to be fair, a v good selection of stuff- salad, pasta, bread, chips, hummus, guac, noodles, etc etc etc). There was a decent amount of vegan stuff, but I still thought there could have been a lot more, and a lot of the vegetarian stuff easily could have been made vegan and not lost any of it's appeal. There were pretty much no desserts suitable for vegans, unless you count fruit salad. Bit of a shame. You pay by weight.. and ours cost £15 each, which was an absolute rip off for what it was (a tiny bread roll, hummus, guacamole, some pasta, about 4 potato wedges). I can't eat huge portions, so I know the amount of food I had really wasn't much at all. I would have been happy if it had been about £8, but for double that price, I was pretty shocked. My boyfriend said it was bland (I actually disagree, I think the food was good, and seasoned/flavoured really nicely, bar the guacamole - mine is 100x better unfortunately!) The actual restaurant was nice, and the atmosphere was cool - pretty much a posh canteen, I guess. Without sounding rude, I have noticed a lot of people here saying 'it doesn't get better than this for veggie/vegan food in London' - ummmm I hate to break it to you, but this was the worst vegan experience I've had in London, and I don't understand how someone would think it doesn't get better than Tibits! There are a trillion places in this city that are incredible for vegans, and affordable! see my 'favourites' for some examples!) I just couldn't get over the price of it. I wouldn't go back. This place, situated in the heart of London, is amazing. If you have any sort of food allergy they have you covered. There is a big 'food boat' in the centre with all sorts of dishes covering the boat. Every item has the allergens listed on a little card and the staff are vere knowledgeable about all the ingredients. Essentially the place is one big buffet so you grab a plate, load it up and it's charged by weight. Their desserts aren't super friendly to ask allergen sufferers but at the end of the day they're a veggie restaurant not an allergy restaurant. I'd certainly recommend checking it out. read more

This place has a great selection of veggie foods! There are always new options alongside the staples. Everything is very fresh, and I can't think of anything I didn't like. Unfortunately, this place is WAY too expensive. Unbelievably expensive. One plate of food, with a bite or two of about 1/2 the options is usually at least £13 and I always leave hungry. I hate that! Awesome vegan buffet [yay for vegan sausages!] and they offer gluten free options as well. Every plate is labeled V for vegan, L for dairy [lactose] O for Ovo [eggies], and G for Gluten. Top class place. You pay £2.50 per 100g for dinner which means you can get a fairly heaped plate for about £12. "Vegetarian buffet" made me think of bright lights and a canteen like ambiance but it's a much nicer place than that. The buffet format means that even if anybody is sceptical about the food being exclusively vegetarian they are still bound to find something they like. The food is really tasty. read more

I really like this place. Nourishing vegetarian food, a funky interior, self-service and a good range of desserts and drinks. Being pay by weight means that you can order exactly the right amount of food to match your appetite, but it also means that if you start getting carried away by the range and quality of the appetising food on offer your wallet will pay the price! Place had lovely vegetarian food. I'm not sure about the weight idea- makes sense to do that with meat products but when everything is veg I'm not so sure. Means some things are more pricey because they are heavy with water not because they are more complicated. Might be better to offer price per plate or a general buffet price. While my eating companions dealt with the weight I had soup (pea-delicious) and a mock-mojito (also delicious). Staff were nice and place had highchairs and baby changing rooms. read more

Scratching my head a bit on twhy many of the reviews are so positive. I went for a take-away lunch and came away underwhelmed for 3 reasons. Vegetarian restaurants are all about vegetables. First and foremost, the vegetables need to be abundant and fresh. Then, they must be perfectly prepared - ideally in ways you can not or do not do at home. Since when does desert qualify as vegetarian fare? I admit deserts are not carnivorous, but at least a fourth of the selections were deserts! Most of the vegetables were beans and pulses (beans were canned). They included onion rings and chips as vegetarian food....isn't that pub food! The only "fresh" vegetables were uninspired lettuce salad selections, some green beans and cherry tomato offerings (good tomatoes!) The aubergine dish was a major disappointment! And what was going on with those deserts? For my money, if you want vegetarian, go to a curry house. At least the flavors pop. read more

Vegan and vegetarian heaven. I recently went for breakfast and was excited to discover a great spread with options for all taste buds (the regular lunch and dinner buffet has received so many reviews, it seems irrelevant to even mention how delicious every dish is). I had a deliciously fruity Bircher muesli made with coconut milk which I would highly recommend for a vegan option. Whoa. Tibits is jaw-droppingly awesome and delicious. I spent my first day in London in a touristy area having a really tough time finding vegan food, and when I finally did find it it was bland and boring... but on my second day, I found Tibits and it was heaven. As you go around the buffet-style serving area, you can load your plate full with whatever you want. I found some mediterranean, American, Italian, Mexican... I can't remember the last time I had vegan onion rings, a delicious lemon pudding, or something resembling lasagna. I had a really tough time not going back for more. This place is absolutely perfect, and being from the US, I'm totally jealous of Londoners who have access to this place every day. I know I'd be there every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I could. The seating is fantastic too! There's lovely seating outside, and plenty inside (including a lower level). Rock on, tibits! What a disappointment!! I had read about this place just in time to show off to a vegetarian friend who was visiting. Big mistake. Ironically, I went to the original Tibits on a visit to Zurich a few years ago and remember being really impressed with the concept. Easy enough: you find yourself somewhere to sit; you grab a plate and fill it with lovely food from the hot and cold counters; you take you plate to the counter for weighing, order a drink and pay; you enjoy your food. Only problem: the price. The food was lovely, but my meal just about came to a collection of snacks at more than £13. We left feeling hungry and ripped off. I am a big fan of interestingly cooked and prepared vegetarian food, but you can now get this type of food at Fresh & Wild. No wonder the place was empty - we were jealously looking across the road to the queues outside ever-popular Momo. While I remember the Swiss original to be quite cosy, the London branch feels like an upmarket office buffet. I don't think this will catch on. The food's OK, but money would be much better spent somewhere else. read more

I quite liked tibits but it felt like a expensive and fancier Whole Foods' "ready to eat" deli counter. Food was really good and I love being able to try everything without having to order dishes. But the problem is the price, it's expensive enough for me to think it twice before entering this place (maybe for the location is not too bad, but there are many cheap places nearby, if you just walk to Soho). One of my favorite lunch spots. I work in the area, and frequently pop in once or twice a week to grab takeway lunch. You pay by weight and they offer a variety of salads and hot vegetarian options every day. Compared to the standard lunch options (Pret, Eat, Crussh, Itsu, etc), this lunch feels fresh and different. I think this is partly due to the constant rotation of salads. The salads which often include ingredients like quinoa, lentils, chickpeas, and a variety of vegetables rarely disappoint. Don't overlook the hot options as well! One of my favorites was a vegan (yes, vegan!) risotto. read more

Virtually identical in offerings to the Tibits chain in Switzerland: a by-weight buffet. Lots of salads and fresh dishes. Everything tastes just lovely. The prices are immoderately high; you're definitely paying a premium here. There's a nice area downstairs for children: books, toys, that sort of thing. The buffet format also makes it easy for kids to pick out what they want. So it's a very good stopping point for a family. They have free wifi, but it was spotty when I visited. (It actually worked even though they thought it didn't, and I've seen other complaints too about the wifi. The staff didn't seem to care much about it not working, which was a bit surprising.) Note that it's just off Regent Street, in a quiet and pleasant little space, so look down the side alleys off Regent to find their sign. I even stopped by for lunch on my last trip there just because I missed it so much... and it was as tasty as ever. I love the selection of both cold and hot foods.
