The "accoutrements" of the cocktail were the best part - the perfect appetizer to keep me from getting too hangry. The bloody mary itself though was a little disappointing to me. It was pretty watery and didn't have any of the savory flavors I love about this drink. The food was pretty tasty, as a bar this place does fried food amazingly. I want to go back already and try their beer battered chicken tenders. If you like onion rings, get those too! They were massive and delicious!! Lastly, the service was quite slow so don't come here hoping to get in and out quickly. It seemed they had only one waitress for the entire dining area (which was packed for Sunday brunch.) Such a great place! Went here on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy a bloody mary. Didn't get to try the brunch menu, it must end at a certain time but I'm not sure. The patio was very nice, not sure if it would be with other people since there were cigarettes and ash out there. The service was great, we were greeted when we walked in the door. "Bar food" is a qualification that typically limits your options to greasy, slapped-together burgers and pale, soggy crinkle fries straight out of the freezer - but at The Tick Tock, bar food is served with as much quality and panache as some of the best restaurants in Indy. From the crispy, golden-brown tenderloin, to the thin, crispy-edged burgers, to the banging hot fish sandwich, I've cycled through the whole menu and everything is great. The beer and booze situation is also on par with the best bars in town - they've got a deep selection of spirits, several locals on tap, and lots of bottle and can options. Prices are GREAT. The service is stellar too - friendly and efficient. Ama and Josh are my faves, but truly, the whole staff is awesome. Did I mention Touch Tunes, Sunday brunch, darts, cool people? The only bummer to me is that the Touch Tunes has hip-hop blocked - not a very egalitarian move in a diverse neighborhood. Was heading down south on a Sunday and wanted to hit up a good brunch spot and this came up on Yelp so we thought to give it a try. Definitely a dive bar living up to the "Lounge" part of the name. Pull tabs, TVs, full bar. My girl ordered a Bloody Mary and was in shock when it came out. Had a spear with charcuterie on it laying across the top of the glass, pepperoni, cheese cubes, and olives. Followed by another spear on top of that which had tater tots. It was impressive. I got the loaded breakfast tots which were absolutely incredible. I had Tick Tock Lounge on my to do list because it had been around since the 1930s. If that's why you're coming to check the place out, I'll say that I felt that a lot of the history must have been removed during the face lift about six years ago. But honestly, I can't say for sure as I hadn't ever been there before. The interior looks all spiffed up with perfect walls, new bar stools, a new bar top and the like. There was some wood trim visible and the stained glass potentially looked original, and that added some interest. The neighborhood looked like it had seen better days, yet it also appeared that it may be on the upswing. The waitress/bartender who was serving tables outside, in the dining room and at the bar, wasn't overly friendly. She gave us menus, took our drink and food orders, brought our food out, and really didn't talk to us much after that. She didn't ask how our food was, and when we left, she was on her way outside right next to us and didn't say a word to us. From what I hear, the food menu was expanded with the refresh, and the pork tenderloin sandwich I ordered was hand battered with a beer batter type breading, and was served on two buns. It was tasty, and expectedly sinful. The tater tots were respectable but some of them were really heavily salted with seasoned salt, and my meal also came with a small plastic container of cottage cheese. Mr. R ordered a double cheeseburger, and I was a fan of the lacy edges hanging off the bun. The onion rings he had were hand battered, but they were the huge rings that I'm not overly fond of, so I didn't try them. If you're heading to Tick Tock for bar food, you should be set, but if you're there for a peek at the decades of history, it may be harder to find. read more

This is one of our fav hangouts. The owners are super nice and remember our faces. The food is out of this world good. In the winter the soups are homemade and delicious. The sandwiches are also fresh made. The appetizers are amazing. One of the all time best drinks is the Bloody Mary. This is wowza! It comes with bacon, tater tots, cheese cubes and olives. Be sure to come hungry because it is almost like a full meal. My second favorite cocktail is the Berry Cosmo served icy cold in a martini glass. Tick Tock Lounge is definitely my new favorite hidden gem on the city's near east side. With its laid back, regulars kind of vibe, this is what I envision as my modern day Cheers. I'm confident that Norm is there and I just haven't seen him yet. Seating at the bar is usually pretty packed but there are lots of tables to pick from. Their burgers are Steak n Shake style, thinner with crispy edges, so don't be afraid to upgrade to a double or triple for next to nothing. I don't know if it was because I'd just finished a Whole30 or what but their tater tots were mouth watering, perfect, cripsy bites of heaven. The burger was delicious as well and the staff was very accommodating with my strange food issues. My only complaint was that the wait to get our food seemed inordinately long, but we weren't in a rush and just enjoyed our beverages and the atmosphere. The Bloody Mary is legendary, a whole meal in one. I am looking forward to coming back for brunch some day to try it, but I've heard I need to order food for breakfast as well because the breakfast food is also great, so I plan to come hungry! read more

Amazing as always. This is the spot on the Eastside for Bloody Mary's + onion rings. We had a group of 6 and sat inside. Service was fast! I tried the patty melt (usually double patties but I asked for one) and it was just like my mom used of make - yum!!! The onion rings were crisp and delicious as usual. We also had pretzel nugs and cheese, which are a staple appetizer when we visit. They have a variety of Hoosier-favorite menu items and everything always tastes freshly-prepared. I met my wife on the Near-Eastside of Indianapolis. So, needless to say, I tend to avoid the Near-Eastside. Located right on East 10th Street, the Tick Tock Lounge is located in an area that you may have driven through if you at all frequent the Eastside. If you've driven through at night, there's a decent chance you found yourself looking around and possibly locking your doors. While the area's still not the greatest, the nearby John Boner Center along with several other non-profits have been working to clean up the area and it's an area I actually looked at seriously when they started putting up some condos. Tick Tock Lounge is a somewhat divey, yet for the most part clean and inviting establishment in a freestanding building with a small, private parking lot with towing signs noting that it's for use by Tick Tock customers only. I pulled into the parking lot just shy of 5pm on a Friday night. They had a few customers, but I was pleasantly surprised to see an available and well marked accessible parking spot. Interestingly, the two entrances into Tick Tock both have a step going into them - however, they will let someone in a wheelchair in through the employee entrance and there just happened to be an employee outside smoking as I arrived. She tried to catch me before I tried the doors and I was impressed that she actually did come and make the offer. She also had really impressive tattoos - we know I love my tattoos. So, I was able to access the restaurant and as I arrived in the lounge I immediately felt at home in the obviously older yet inviting atmosphere. The woman who'd helped me get into the lounge was the cook. My server, who was also the bartender at the time (and whose name I've forgotten), was friendly and attentive throughout my time there. The menu seems to consist primarily of pub type fare - a variety of sandwiches including the tenderloin, which you can get breaded or grilled. It comes with a side (pick from fries, waffle fries, tater tots, chips and something else) and either cole slaw or cottage cheese. I chose the tenderloin with mayo, tater tots and cole slaw for $7.99. With my usual unsweetened iced tea, which you can't always find in "bar" type establishments, and my entire bill came in at under $11 - a definite bargain. They had a handful of other specials - as I recall it included fish & chips, pulled pork sandwich and a salad type offering. The lounge area has about a half dozen tables that are wheelchair friendly. Most of the tables are of the higher, bar stool type along the usual bar seating. The tenderloin was very good - a nice slab o' meat that was obviously hand-breaded and thick and nicely battered. The bun was toasted, though I will admit that the bun was slightly disappointing for me as it was considerably smaller than the meat and had a texture considerably different than the meat. If I were hanging out with my friend Rick Garrett, the Tenderloin Connoisseur, I'd probably give it a 4 out of 5 for the sandwich. I loved the tater tots. The cole slaw was of the ultra-creamy variety and didn't really work for me. For $7.99? This was a definite high value meal. I even got my usual refill and an iced tea to go - super impressed. As I got ready to leave, my server made sure I could get out through the back. I was really impressed with this server - while the place wasn't packed, she did have people at the bar and 3-4 parties at different tables. She paid attention to everyone and was friendly throughout. Tick Tock Lounge has specials every day of the week including local craft beers for only $4 on Wednesdays (also Karaoke night) and a trivia night on Thursdays. They offer local music on a pretty consistent basis, as well. As I checked out the board, I found the drink prices to be quite reasonable and some of the drinks quite imaginative including the house infused vodkas. The other patrons were great - one can never been 100% sure in this neighborhood, but this truly had the feeling of a friendly, neighborhood bar. After a long work week, Tick Tock Lounge was a definite winner. While I wouldn't quite call it a 5-star experience, it was a terrific meal at a good price with friendly and inviting service. The bathrooms, by the way, are also wheelchair friendly - that's even more rare at a bar. So, yeah, I will definitely be going back. read more

It stayed pretty low-key throughout our visit and the bartender also ended up being our attentive server. We mentioned the infamous Bloody Mary and she noted it would take a while to prepare the garnish, so we gladly hunkered down for the experience. We took fellow Yelper Vam's suggestion and started lunch off propa with 2 shots of the house coffee infused vodka. WOWZA! Hello Saturday afternoon! Of note, the Tick Tock infuses their own flavored vodkas behind the bar in glass dispenser-type jars -- today's flavors were bacon, jalapeno, pineapple, citrus, coffee, and mixed berry. Think glass ice tea server with spigot but tipsy-er. We then ordered lunch and out came my Bloody Mary snack. I'm not kidding you when I say that the garnish on the Deluxe Bloody Mary is a mixed bag snacky appetizer in and of itself. This beast comes with a skewer of tater tots, a rib of celery, a crispy slice of bacon, and a skewer of alternating green olives, cheddar cheese cubes, and pepperoni. Not kidding. This is no joking matter. I could see flakes of horseradish floating around in the mix and began to get super happy. Our server explained that the $10 deluxe Bloody Mary is set apart from the 'usual' Bloody Mary because, aside from the garnish, it also contains the house infused bacon and jalapeno vodkas! Get. Out. Took a sip....and...bland... wah-wah (sad trombone). Man! I had it so hyped in my mind! Hmmm...it's missing something. How was this possible? I grabbed some Franks, some shakes of black pepper, and eventually threw in the pickles and juice from my tenderloin to make it even close to tasty for me. When I talked with our bartender later (I should have brought it up to her sooner, my bad), she said to order it extra spicy next time as they tend to make them mild for those with a sensitivity to spice. Noted. As for lunch, my tenderloin was AMAZING... thick, not pounded out; wet battered not crumbly; on a perfectly lightly toasted bun -- so juicy and tasty! Added mustard, tomato, and extra pickles -- LOVED it! The hubs loved his dry battered chicken tenders and voiced 'these are the real deal' on a few occasions. Good endorsement as this dude knows some chicken fingers. Overall -- it's a totally casual/divey joint, but super clean inside with friendly patrons. They have a great list of local craft beers which are only $4 on Wednesdays (also Karaoke night), and seem to run specials most days of the week. It's a little surprising stumbling upon this place. The surrounding neighborhood doesn't fit in with the exterior of this bar. The first thing I noticed when coming in was how pretty the stained glass entrance was. I'm almost positive that's the original. We ordered the Bloody Mary and an IPA draft and each ordered burgers. I had the veggie burger which was honestly really good. It seemed fresh and their own recipe. Unfortunately there were two hairs in my burger and i didn't bring myself to say something. I really should have. I only ate half of it. The fries were nothing special but crispy and hot. I wouldn't have minded another handful on my plate. It was also served with a small side coleslaw.
