I have been here twice and have had so so experiences. My husband says I need to go back and order something else because what I keep getting can be easily screwed up. He got the Cobb salad the first time we went and he LOVED it, so his review would be slightly higher than mine. The first time I did their chicken salad wrap. For some reason, I pictured grilled chicken with some lettuce tomato and maybe some other crunchy veggie, instead I got a chicken salad concoction...like egg salad or tuna salad...wasn't amazing. The second time I got the grilled eggplant sandwich, wasn't really impressed. They did it on a white bread and they put a lot of oil or butter on the bread causing it to be very greasy. The one redeeming part about this meal was the french fries! Perfect shoe string fries with a heaping amount of garlic, delish! Tickle tree is honestly one of my favorite cafés! I'm nor a big fan of sandwiches but tickle tree must use a different kind of sauce for their food! It is simply amazing. I always recommend the grilled chicken sandwich. I had always friend try their pancakes but it didn't look that appealing. I don't think I'll be adventurous enough to leave the sandwich for a pancake... The staff is pretty nice too and they have free wifi. They also have outside seating. Only downside is the small parking lot but you can always street park or park in the library lot. And the sandwiches are pretty expensive but still worth it once in a while to satisfy the crave! read more

I've been going here for years and I've never had a disappointing experience. I've gotten their lemonade, their delicious lattes, omelettes and sandwiches. Everything is savory with great portions. I can easily be satisfied with the first half of my sandwich, but the struggle is trying to keep me from devouring the entire thing in one sitting. This place perfectly enunciates my superstition "third time's the charm." For once, I 100% enjoyed my meal in this adorably furnished, independent cafe. You could never go so far as to say that this place is La Canada's equivalent to a Europane or Urth, but it's got the same admirable values of cleanliness, freshness, and simplicity (but in literally the strangest location). If the half open-air greenhouse/half shoebox coffee hangout was a person, it would be that quiet, quirky girl with the vintage Ray-Bans in the back of your math class: Stella or Ivy or something. Omelettes are thick, sandwiches are nothing to write home about, and the yogurt plate is hardly anything as good as a parfait... BUT the French toast is TO DIE FOR and the coffee is top-notch from one of those snazzy new hipster coffee machines that everyone pretends they know about. I have yet to try the infamously delicious salads. Bring your laptop and chemistry study notes (in your messenger bag, duh), enjoy their brunch food, and you're bound to have swell time. read more

Love this place! I'm new to the area and while I was prepping my house for move in I stopped in at least once/sometimes twice a day. Green tea latte is creamy and delicious. Everything I needed in a rainy day. Coffee is great - I rarely drink it, but needed a pick me up after not sleeping, then nannying then moving! So I grabbed a vanilla latte and was oh so happy with my choice. Plus I have yet to be disappointed with any of their food. Their grilled cheese really hits the spot. I am so disappointed that it did not meet our expectation and I am not sure if we'll want to come back. Service: We ordered 4 breakfast meals for 4 people and each order was brought for us in a different time. And the last one was my toddler's food so technically he had to wait and stare at our food until his arrived. Food: The omelettes we ordered looked good but were so bland. I had to add lots of salt, pepper and hot sauce to make it a bit tolerable. The potatoes on the side were not crispy, kind of under-done and under-seasoned. This place has potential in terms of location, atmosphere and menu items but the menu is not performed very well. They have to seriously work on tasting their food and make them more flavorful. read more

We have passed by this place a thousand times since they opened and decided to have breakfast last Saturday. Has street parking and small lot in front of restaurant. We were met with a smiling hostess who took our orders from menus on clip boards. We ordered the orange/banana waffles and the banana walnut pancakes. We took our order number and sat outside on the patio which offered a view of Foothill Bl and the surrounding mountains. Our food arrived in a timely manner and we got self serve coffee and water from the small table located inside the restaurant. The pancakes were the lightest and fluffiest we have ever had! We've lived in The La Crescenta area for almost two years and only just tried this place. It's the perfect casual breakfast drop in- friendly staff and good food. :) We had the Tickle Tree Omelette and the Huevos Rancheros with a latte. The food came quickly and was delicious. I usually come here when I am in the area when I want a quick bite to eat before studying or need something relatively fast that's not so bad quality. I came here with my friend today for a quick dinner, catch up session. The interior is really cute! Wooden walls and metal chairs with pastries and cakes in a glass display for all to see. There are also very chill vibes to this place, so it's a great to go for a low-key dinner or lunch with friends or family. They also have a super cute patio where you can sit out on with round light bulbs and metal furnishes with wooden benches. A great place to sit at during the summer! Menu wise, yes. They definitely have a lot to choose from. I love how they have some class with their menu selection, but keep dishes at not-so-expensive prices. In other words, for the amount of food you get for the price you pay for and the quality, I think it's definitely a great deal. I usually get either their soba noodle salad or their spinach salad. My other friend LOVES their soba noodle salad, and I can totally understand why. It has a lot of flavor, and they give a generous amount of soba noodles. However, when I got the soba noddle salad, I saw that it was overwhelmed with dressing. Therefore, eating the salad was pretty overwhelming to eat. BUT! Their spinach salad really gets me. I love their honey lemon vinaigrette dressing because it really doesn't overwhelm the spinach, and it's such a great balance of flavors. When I saw that they put strawberries in the salad, I wasn't too excited about it, but after trying this salad, it was actually not that bad! Their spinach salad is really tasty, and it's super good for those who really want to get the most nutrition out of their meal. They are not usually crowded when I go, so their service is pretty good every time I go. They're also very chill, and by the way they talk to some of their customers, I can tell that they are a local favorite. Parking is either outside of the cafe or street parking, but you will probably find parking within 5 minutes of being here. This place will always be one of my go-to places when I am in town. We've been customers at Tickle Tree since they opened in 2012 and the food has always been very good, even take-out during the pandemic; which we did to support this great small business. But this last visit the food was terrible! The grilled chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry. I sent the first one back because it was so tough I couldn't eat it. They remade it but it was still dry and very expensive. Hopefully they can get their quality back up but it will be a long time before we eat there again. read more

The Tickle Tree burger is the most consistent menu item and it is tasty. Bleu cheese crisp bacon and the well done patty make me happy. They also have a good tropical tea. I suggest parking across the street or on the street in front, the lot is tiny. Its a cute place inside with plenty of seats and the outside is usually full on the weekend mornings. I have always had very nice cashiers and I don't mind walking to get a refill of tea. La Crescenta is very lucky to have this little indie music playing cafe. read more

I love Tickle Tree. If you don't feel like driving to Montrose for cafe dining, this spot is fantastic. It's by far, the best spot around. My only wish is that they had a little larger of a menu. For breakfast/brunch I always get the Jane's combo. Toast, eggs, the yummiest chicken sausage, potatoes, and fruit. For lunch, the salads are killer. The chopped or cobb are my favs. The dressing on the chopped is so yum. The outdoor seating is so nice on a warm day. Umbrella's to keep the sun off you, and a nice sized patio and deck. Great place to chill and talk with a friend or just study for a final with a delicious coffee side. My girlfriend and I ordered their special ticke tree burger, and I wouldnt really regret getting it. My girlfriends liked it and their mocca with mint and also my organic strawberry smoothy! The cashier girl was also accomodating and suggested a bunch of food and drinks for us to try, but sadly, we only the budget for just 1 meal. The price are almost affordable but not cheap. Great for a quick grab of drinks. The parking is not good. They have limited parking lots for about 10-12 cars, although you can park on residential areas around it. Great time and I would definitely recommend everyone to just try this place for coffee or just to soothe your hot day :) read more
