It has been many years since I have eaten at Tidal Raves as I moved from the NW 16 years ago. It is as good as ever with our dinner tonight. Went to celebrate a friends birthday and we had a great experience. Service was good and the food was excellent. View is outstanding. We had clams for an appetizer. Very good solid clams and tasty broth. They could serve a little more garlic toast to soak up that yummy broth. Had their Rave pasta,the wagyu tenderloin and the ling cod. All dishes were very good and would recommend. Wine prices were quite reasonable, as was the food. TR was one of my parents favorites as they visited Depot Bay a lot back in the 90-2000's. This has become a must-stop every time I'm on the Oregon Coast. The combination of exceptional seafood, warm service, and panoramic ocean views makes it one of those rare restaurants that consistently exceeds expectations. One of the best recent improvements is the addition of online reservations, which makes it incredibly convenient after a day on the water or exploring the coast. It's a small change that makes the overall experience even better. Over multiple visits, I've worked my way through nearly the entire menu--including appetizers and desserts--and I've yet to have a disappointing dish. Everything has been consistently fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. At this point, I'd be happy letting the chef choose my meal because I know it's going to be excellent. If you're visiting the area and want seafood that's worth remembering, this is the place. Grab a window table if you can--the sweeping ocean views are spectacular, and on a clear day, you may even spot a whale spout offshore. I have always heard that these folks serve amazing food. So on a recent trip over to the coast, four of us had dinner there. The first item that really caught our attention was the pan fried oysters. Oh my goodness they were so delicious. I'm not sure what the breading was, but the herbs and spices in it and then how well they were cooked made them just absolutely delightful. They were so good, I'm heading over for a return trip, and hopefully that item is still on the menu. Each one of us enjoyed and exclaimed over the fresh flavors and presentation of the food. I had a big bowl of steamer clams and they were very good. My husband had halibut gnocchi with cherry tomatoes and a brown butter sauce. He really really liked it. My friend had shrimp and chips and thought it was pretty darn good. And the last person in our party had the pasta rave. It had pesto sauce with mussels ,shrimp and white fish. Photos follow. Service was excellent, our server was cheerful and friendly, and full of information. Each of us also had a cocktail. Their whiskeys and bourbons are aged in casks right there in the restaurant. I've included a photo of my husband's old-fashioned, he thought it was fantastic. My friend had a cocktail whose name I forget, filled with a lot of unusual ingredients. He enjoyed it tremendously. Cream mixture with crushed almonds, strong coffee and whiskey hit the spot. Probably have been here six times and ordered the wagu steak ,mashed potatoes and asparagus instead of the traditional seafood. Steak was tender, cooked nicely and had a really good mushroom peppercorn cream sauce. Mashed potatoes had bacon, truffle , cheddar and were not my favorite due to overpowering flavor of the truffle oil. Mrs D had the crab Mac and cheese with brussel sprouts. Really satisfying with a fair amount of crab and the right mixture of cheese sauce & slightly undercooked pasta. Sprouts were crunchy and a bit tart, really good.. Unfortunately, they were running behind that night and even with the reservation we made we were not seated for 30 minutes. The place was slammed. We felt it was a bit odd to have blue corn tortilla chips served with it, but the tuna itself was quite flavorful! I ordered the crab mac and cheese and I was not a big fan of the panko thrown on top. I prefer the crust of mac n cheese to be more golden and cheesy on top. Plus the brussel sprouts they served with them were bland. They had no flavor and were just roasted. Unfortunately my fiancé was also let down by the scallops he ordered. This was our first time here. We had an order of steamer clams with a baguette and they were so good we used the bread to soak up the sauce. I ordered the halibut fish and chips and the wife had the oysters. Both were excellent and well plated. The cocktails were a little lacking so maybe keep it simple. All of the food tasted great. I ate the wagyu burger "not pictured" because it was devoured too quickly, and it was the juiciest, most delicious burger I've ever had. My father had the fish tacos, which he said were fabulous. If I were criticizing something about the food, it would be the portion of dungenous crab on the crab Louie, which I feel was small for the price. In my experience, that is just the amount of crab you get on the Oregon coast. The service was great. It was midweek, and it was not crowded at all. Our server was very polite. She was there when we needed her, and all the servers seemed very attentive. The restaurant's ambiance was my favorite part. The way the restaurant was designed was like you were hanging out over the ocean. We sat in front of a window with a panoramic view of the coastline. I included a picture. On our latest trip to the coast we decided to give Tidal Raves a try on our never ending quest to find the best seafood in the state. Unfortunately, we will be continuing our search. The risotto was the star of the dish bringing lots of needed flavor. The fish and chips had excellent texture, but was left wanting for seasoning. I have been here before and was so excited to come while visiting solo. Unfortunately solo diners do not get much service and it made me very sad. Had a reservation at 7:45 and even saw hostess comment something about having to seat 1‍. Finally sat down at 8:10. Granted they were busy but I am still a paying customer. I don't like to dine alone and this just made it that more awkward. Then my server didn't even acknowledge me for 10 minutes after I sat. She was not very knowledgeable on "what is the best" on the menu. I have been sitting here for 20 minutes finishing my wine and watching g the sunset and my finished plate is still here. However any seat in the house will be beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the seafood Diablo pasta. It had so much seafood from the crab, clams, shrimp, and fish. I had seven or eight clams and they give you a dish to put them in after the clam is removed. I was slightly dismayed in that only three of my clam shells had clams. The rest were in the shell and they were empty. The flavor was slightly spicy, and there was so much food. I had plenty of leftovers. My husband had the herb crusted, lingcod. He had mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts in the dish. The food was divine. The fish was tender. And the entire meal was delicious. For dessert, I had the strawberry rhubarb cobbler. It came with a ginormous scoop of ice cream. The cobbler was served warm and it was so much food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were so pleased with this restaurant. The views were incredible, the food was delicious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our only complaint is that the hostess had no personality. She ignored us when we came in, dropped us off at our table with the menus and said nothing, then when we left, we said goodbye and she said yup. I think she needs an attitude check from management. I just finished going on a whale watching excursion and found this gem for lunch. I had the soup and salad, and the raspberry cheesecake that was simply divine. The cheesecake was so light and fluffy. That was seriously the best I've ever had. The clam chowder was the best I had on my trip. Parking is very limited, with street parking available. Reservation is highly recommended. Wonderful service, friendly, kind and attentive. We saw the bartender came down just to make sure he understood what the customers' requested from another table. Everything we ordered was delicious and came in large portion. The cocktail shrimp was lightly battered and cooked to the perfection, these shrimps are much bigger than it looks from the photo, I couldn't even finish half of the order. Given I also ordered a green curry. I had to save some room for the main course. Unfortunately, I had to take most of the green curry back, cause I was too full. The Wagyu burger was plentiful, juicy, and tasty. Especially the fries that came with were seasoned very well. The sliced pork appetizer was the only one we were not a big fan of, reason being some of the park were too fatty. Such a hidden gem. My wife and I asked a shopkeeper for food recommendations and she said to try here. We were very happy with this recommendation. Killer views of the water, delicious food, nice servers, and super reasonable prices made for a truly special experience. The restaurant was recommended to me by some friends as somewhere nice with a great view. Since that's exactly what we were looking for for my husband's bday I booked a reservation. I highly recommend booking so that you have a spot since it's a smallish but obviously popular place. The view and drinks were amazing. I really don't think you could ask for better views at dinner time. The food was good, but not amazing. We enjoyed our crab cake appetizer, it was moist and had lots of flavor. I also did like my scallop risotto, our server did warn us that the dish was rich with a good amount of cream and butter, but wow, it was rich. My husband opted for the Dungeness crab Mac and cheese with Brussels. It was also just good. His biggest complaint was the amount of crab shells he found while eating. Gnocchi for me and Giant Prawns for my cousin. The food was spectacular. I added wild shrimp to mine, and it was a large portion and so tasty. My cousin loved her prawns - they were crisp and light and not greasy. The rice pilaf was full of flavor. I loved the pesto sauce on my gnocchi. We lucked into dinner at Tidal Raves Seafood Grill on a Friday early evening without reservations! My husband and I had just finished our whale watching adventure out in the bay, and we were starving. A quick Yelp search indicated we'd be missing out if we didn't have a meal at Tidal Raves before heading out of town, so we ducked in real quick and grabbed the last table. The stars aligned and we ended up having one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had in a very long time. First and foremost, we arrived during magic hour. That special time of the day where the light begins to change as sunset draws near. The sun was peeking through puffy white clouds, creating a golden light that shimmered and danced on the waves crashing against rocks in the bay. If this wasn't enough, we could also see whales breaching in the bay... with five fluke views during our meal. How incredible is that? Our waitress provided a lot of support as we explored the menu; there really is a lot to choose from. We ended up ordering clams in a butter and white wine sauce, rockfish with a pistachio cream sauce served with grilled Brussels sprouts, and a lovely bowl of clam chowder. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant's dining room has several tiers which enables everyone in the house to have exceptional views. The table that was available when we arrived was on the second tier, and though we could have waited a few minutes for a window seat, we ended up feeling like the second tier was better because one doesn't have to crane their neck too much to both enjoy a conversation and take in the lovely views. I noticed many people in the window seats wincing because the direct light was a bit too intense. When we completed our meal, there was a pretty sizable crowd waiting for available tables. We surely arrived at the perfect time - 5:30 PM, I believe. There is a small parking lot, and lots of street parking as this restaurant is situated on the main street and promenade in downtown Depoe Bay. I see a lot of 3-star reviews for this restaurant, which I find hard to believe. If it were more expensive, I'd have greater expectations for the food. But I felt the entire experience was proportionate with the amount we paid for a lovely dinner for two with an exceptional view. I'll be returning next time I'm in town. read more

What a surprisingly great stop for lunch today! We got seated right away close enough to the large windows to enjoy the scenery below the restaurant. Parking lot is tiny but street parking is plentiful. We got there around ~5p on Saturday and there were a ton of people waiting (they don't take rezzys) but we got seated right away as there were only 2 of us. Steamed clams were very good. Highly recommend! My daughter got the rockfisj fish and chips and they were moist inside and perfectly breaded and crispy on the outside. Josie brought menus and waters and took drink orders. We ordered an Aperol Spritz ($12) and vodka tonic. We thought the vodka tonic wasn't filled to the top of the glass but we realized it was just vodka. The tonic was in the full bottle of Fever Tree Tonic they brought with the glass. Both drinks were delicious. Appetizer was steamer clams which were excellent. Entrees were Cioppino. Cioppino was beyond excellent. It had a scrumptious tomato herb broth filled with vegetables and had a generous amount of seafood. This is definitely a must order. Desert was Bread Pudding in a bourbon sauce and crème anglaise. The bourbon was too strong for me but I was already full. Ambiance was off the scale good. Every seat had a view of the water. Service was excellent-perfectly professional plus pleasant with information about the area. Food was beyond delicious. Everyone we talked to on our trip in Oregon mentioned Tidal Rave when we said we would be in Depoe Bay, and the hype did not disappoint. This restaurant was really amazing. Be prepared to wait, but it's popular for a reason. We waited about 45mins on a Sunday night for a party of 5. The views from the restaurant are stunning. We were sat right next to the window, and it felt like we were hovering above the water. Even if you don't get a window seat, all the tables have amazing views of the water. The food was delicious. I had the Sea Scallops which were cooked beautifully. We also got the bread and the Mac and cheese for the table and the Mac and cheese was delicious. On a road trip from California to Seattle, we stopped here and had the best meal of our trip. The Calamari was perfectly cooked as were the crab cakes, although the Calamari was my favorite. We had the crab Loui salad with shrimp which was perfect for us to share. I also had the clam chowder. Tidal Raves never lets me down. An amazing little restaurant right on the cliffs of the Oregon Coast. The sweeping views of the ocean take your breath away. Note this restaurant does not take reservations but you can add your name to their virtual waitlist and save yourself a lot of waiting time! The cocktail menu is wonderful. Great selection, tasty drinks that come out fast. I had the Salmon Cesar which was lovely. The fillet was also a hit, cooked perfectly and the reduction sauce was delicious. Now, the place is busy so it make take a little time for your main dishes, I suggest ordering apps to tide you over. That being said, I love Tidal Raves, however... it was a birthday dinner and they did not offer a complementary dessert or anything which I felt they should've done... We didn't have to wait for a table for dinner on a Monday in December. I'm sure the view is lovely, but 1. it was dark and 2. my chair was next to a wall rather than a window. So no view. But the menu is quite extensive and varied, and everything we had was delicious. I was happy to find both salmon chowder and clam chowder with no bacon.
