Full disclosure. I'm not a huge baseball fan and I've been to a Tides game before, but this time…read morearound was really fun! I believe it was due to the level of experience I had. If you have the opportunity to see a Tides game and have access to the picnic area that's the way to go! I had tickets via a corporate event and we had seats in section 117 which is down in front closer to 3rd base, but also include access to the picnic area which had a better view and included up to an hour and a half duration of food. The food served is dependent on the menu choice the organizer paid. We had menu 1 which consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, potato salad, cookies and nonalcoholic beverages. Staff replenished some of the food, but the chips and potato salad and cookies went fast! Their hamburgers and hot dogs are really tasty too! I enjoyed the spread! I think another menu option may include fried chicken, pulled pork bbq, coleslaw and potato salad as well but we didn't have that menu. You can choose to return to your seats to watch the game or remain in the picnic area. I felt the picnic area was a more pleasant experience and had a better view of the field. Most of the area is covered, with a 1/4 of the seating uncovered closer to the field. They have bar counter top seating closest to the field and picnic tables and some four tops. The set up for food was efficient and has both side access for two lines. They have two food buffet areas, At the time there was another company that had an event as well and had the other buffet with chicken. Drinks are served at the picnic concession counter and the women that manned it were friendly and efficient! They also have bathrooms in the picnic area which was nice! The games have fun little silly mini events to break up the monotony between innings. We happened to have great weather that day ! There was a light breeze, wasn't too hot nor humid. I recommend bringing sunglasses and or hat to help keep the sun at bay. You can look on their website regarding parking options. Lot C is the only lot you can pre- pay online for and parking for LOT C is available up until first hit at 6:30pm as long as the lot doesn't sell out prior. ($7), the other lots are first come first serve and is credit card only. I believe the park is cashless pay. Other parking options are riding the light rail or parking at MacArthur mall for free. If you have game tickets light rail rides are free 2 hours before game time.

This indoor skating center wasn't too far so we decided to pay it a visit. I will say it's very affordable considering the activity and skate rentals. For my family of five we laid $57.00. My daughters had an amazing time and the location itself is large. We loved that they had snacks and food items to purchase as well. I took away stars for service. This place gets busy and quickly upon opening. It was our first time so we had absolutely no idea what to expect. The gentleman at the register was just not welcoming and quite frankly rude. I didn't pay it much mine because I wanted everyone to have a great time. I would suggest a friendly person as the welcome person for a better impression.

But here, you get so much for what you pay! They have tons of classes at a variety of times. My go-to's are kettlebells and Tabata--they're such killer workouts but in the best way. One of the things I love most is that the instructors actually do the workouts with you, which is so motivating. Plus, they're super helpful if you need modifications--they just want you to feel good and do your best. And even though this is one of the smaller YMCAs, the vibe is always friendly and welcoming. Just a heads-up, though--weekend classes can get pretty packed, so I recommend showing up early if you want to grab a good spot! I look forward to my workouts here, and it's such a great community. Whether you're a total fitness newbie or a gym rat, there's something here for everyone.

I was doing a sets routine and had my set up all ready and was in the middle of the second exercise when someone came over and started moving my stuff. I let them know I was utilizing that equipment and their respond was that I could move to the other side. Well, I could but so could she, and I already had weights, plates and foams set up in that spot for a particular exercise. It made me feel very uncomfortable and she refused to leave my stuff (including phone, and water bottle) versus going to the other side when no one was there. They need more space so people are not on top of each other. Get rid of the 10 extra treadmills no one uses and create a corner for stretching or body weight exercises (burpees, etc). If this location wasn't on my route, I'd drive over to Blocker.

I cannot believe the outside pool was not open at 10 am on July 4th. my husband and I were laying on our towel reading, and was told we had to leave. The place is run by teenagers that have no clue, you can never talk with a manager. I cannot wait to leave the YMCA - I have already been at another place for 3 years. my husband use the Y one a week. we go to the pool twice a year. Totally ridiculous, probably did not want to pay OT. The rules are all geared for insurance. I have had it.

There's a field for baseball & a playground for kids. A gazebo is also available but no grill station i think. Plenty of space for parking but no restrooms around. This rating is based on it being a public facility…read more Courts: The tennis courts are freshly refinished and in excellent condition. There are 8 courts so there's plenty of room without much of a wait. On the day we arrived only half were in use. Pretty good for a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Amenities: Practice Wall: The five court area has wood wall to practice both fore and backhand drills. Restrooms: The park has a permanent restroom structure but since neither I nor my wife used them we can't comment on their cleanliness. Parking: More than Abundant parking to allow for single or doubles play at each court. Shortfalls: I didn't see any drinking fountains so be sure to bring a cooler of water and such. There also aren't any benches in the court area so if you want to rest between games then bring a folding chair...and an umbrella if you want refuge from the sun. Overall: excellent set of courts that are under used, which works great for us because there's no wait! All-in-all this is a 3.5 but I'm rounding up because of the condition of the courts and lack of wait.

My friend informed me Larkspur is a members-only facility, so you pay a fee (I'm assuming annually since I didn't ask) for membership. He and his wife rented out the facility for the evening - which turned out to be for 4 hours, so his girls and their friends could galavant and enjoy the amenities. Lifeguards were included with the rental - well, it's essential, but you know what I'm saying. Larkspur offers an L-shaped swimming pool, 2 tennis courts, an outdoor grill, an indoor banquet room, plenty of patio seating and, I believe, locker rooms. I didn't swim - I just wanted to get out of the house for a little bit (and the weather was perfect on Friday, 8/21!), see some friends and hang out. But Larkspur is a nice spot and obviously perfect for hosting summer events. JV
