Thank God for the Ymca!! It's heaven for parents that need a break. I was able to take the kids to go to the pool since it is spring break. Then after enjoy my own time with some Zumba class while the play at the play zone. They have good staff that watch the kids. The locker rooms are nice and clean and equipped with a sauna. I like that they have a dryer to dry off our swim suits. I can't wait for the summer when the kids can play in the outdoor pool outside. As a member there are great Incentives. They have stay and play and parent night out where u drop your kids off for a few hours on the weekend to have a date night or a break! I love the birthday packages here as members and they have scholarship programs to help u out financially... I recommend the sports and the classes.. especially the summer camps!

I've been to many YMCAs in the Hampton Roads area, including the one in Elizabeth City and Currituck. This one by far is my favorite. It's the largest (I think), and they even built on a couple years ago. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The facility is very clean. They offer a ton of classes ranging from water aerobics to yoga class, to muscle/core building. Their outside pool is huge with a baby/toddler section. They also sell ice cream in the summer. I also take my "work" children there for summer swimming lessons. We've been doing his for over 10 years and the Y have been so accommodating to us. Membership for a family is around $120 so younger to come to get her your money's worth. It's worth it!

I am a stay at home mom, and when you are a stay at home mom...you just can't do the things you use to do. One of the things is...take care of yourself. Its hard to watch a baby and try to exercise. My son barely naps...so I feel like I can't get anything done. Well the YMCA has a daycare that will watch your kids so that you can go get fit, and that is exactly what I do. I drop my 10 month off and my husband and I go workout. It has been nice to actually get a break for an hour from screaming and crying and diaper changes. BUT the daycare could be CLEANER...my son got sick real quick after I put him in there. Its normal...babies get sick, BUT two weeks later I brought him back and after working out I went to pick him up from the daycare...His hands were straight black from crawling on their disgusting floor. IT WAS TERRIBLE...It needs to be cleaned. It makes me nervous about the whole place, just because the daycare was so dirty. Is the equipment being cleaned often? The showers? The Bathrooms? After picking my son up...a day later...I was quick to get sick...and I barely ever get sick!

I like that this ymca has some different classes than the one a little closer to me. I enjoy the cardio I get from kickboxing. Also the stay and play for the kids is the best I have ever seen. My kids cannot get enough of the rock wall. How fun! They actually like staying for the 3grs that they get and they beg me to go which is good for my figure. So far I have taken Zumba, kickboxing, yoga and step. In a big cardio lover.

Outdoor pool was dirty and overcrowded.... The water looked really merky. Not going back again.

H O P E / F I T / V A…read more I wanted to give it some time before formally reviewing Hope Fit VA. I started coming to Hope Fit when they first opened. I specifically came to break the monotony of my workouts at Onelife. I thought, what a perfect way to break the monotony than by doing something "fun" that is also a workout. Tada, enter "Bungee Fitness"! H O P E / F I T / V A I am typically an introvert with extroverted moments, so group fitness has never been my thing. However I must say this husband and wife duo (Quinton & Sary) know how to make you feel welcome and included. Atmosphere - This place is clean! Crap isn't all over the place, there isn't a ton of people, or intimidating "meat heads" (sorry). Multiple bathrooms with showers. The bungee fitness is separate from the personal training side. Sary leads Bungee Fitness and Q does personal training on the other side. The choice of music while working out is perfect for me! H O P E / F I T / V A Service - "With a smile"! Sary engages everyone in her class. She truly wants to make sure you are getting what "you" intend to get from the class/workout. She is truly accommodating to everyone's needs. She passes out water when she sees you don't have any. It's not uncommon to see Q pop in to get some footage of the class. Sary isn't too serious, she's fun, bubbly and often laughing with the rest of the class, because let's face it... it's fun to bounce around. H O P E / F I T / V A Workout - The beginners class is truly achievable for all shapes, sizes, ages. They are even staring to include children 13 and up. Each person gets to choose how much effort and energy they're putting into their individual workouts. You will do jumping jacks, squats, burpees, knee flys, planks and jogging. If you're like me, you're a sucker for technique, and going "full out" as much as possible. It is totally up to you. Sary has recently took it up a notch by adding the use of weights and resistance bands. This addition to the class with double burpees, lunges, and sharpening everyone's techniques is so up my alley. I love to feel the burn, love to sweat, this is my type of workout. H O P E / F I T / V A Understand that if and when you start bungee fitness, you have to start somewhere. If you are a hardcore gym junkie adjust your expectations for the level 1 class, just enjoy and have fun. If you're anything like me, stick around and you will get to the more intense stuff. I like this type of workout "fun", and want to keep it incorporated into my weekly workouts. Pricing - They are currently updating plans to accommodate number of classes per week/ month. Initially I got 10 classes for the month for $100, and couldn't get them all in. That's too many for me in one month. Oh did I mention they give out discount cards for Krave, which is located next door? What are you waiting for? H O P E / F I T / V A

Are you looking to elevate that heart rate? Have fun? Dance? Try something new? Meet very awesome…read moreminority owned business owners? Be treated with top notch customer service? Then this is the place to visit! I tried the beginner bungee class tonight and had a great time! Instructions were given very clearly. If I didn't feel comfortable with the bungee or my harness, they adjusted and made corrections immediately. I enjoyed how the class wasn't too big where one could feel lost in numbers. More of my friends and family want to give it a try so I will definitely be back!
