While my dog use to enjoy tidy dog, this has changed. Last month (March) we took my mini golden in and she did not want me to leave her. After having an appointment time scheduled, it took them close to 5 hours to finish her! I had an appointment! Why make appointments at all? We absolutely love tidy dog and the owners. We have 2 German Sheperds and they are big wiggling babies. They try every trick they have to get out of anything being done to them. A vet ivisit s like auditioning for the theatrical role of their life. Its so bizarre how they just go in and they don't mind being at tidy dog.They have a way with German sheperds. This is a caring personable establishment that treats it's customers and their furry children with kid gloves. Employees are caring dog lovers and a whole new groom crew! My after groom update... I dropped off at 845 , gave instructions on her cut, and was called before noon to say she was done. I met her groomer. Polite young man. Warned me it could take 2-3 hours. He coaxed her into an open bay with a gate... no kennels. She was unhappy and I could hear her howling but they were talking nicely to her. The place could use a bit of cleaning but it wasn't awful from what I saw. When I picked up, she was better looking than expected. She hasn't been groomed in a bit because every placed I called was booked for months. Hence I took my chances here with the poor reviews. Ya never know about Yelp reviews. I have never been treated as poorly at any establishment as I was here. The actual groomer is good but overbooked. We had been going there about 5 years. I have never had a problem with him. He seems to care about the dogs. The appointment was made a week in advance at 11 and I was told the dog would be ready at 3:30 when she was dropped off. When I called at 3:45, the woman who answered said they had three large dogs ahead of her still and it would probably be closing before she was ready, and they may even be staying late. Not wanting to leave the dog in a small pen without water that long I called back and said we would just pick her up. When we picked her up the woman at the front desk said that I obviously did not understand that they had only one groomer. I said I understood but that I did not want to leave the dog from 11 to 6 in the small cage. She told me to go get the dog myself which I did. They had not even started to groom the dog but upon trying to leave she wanted payment for services. I said no services were performed and that is when she went ballistic. She followed me out to the car screaming and threatening me with theft of services. I stated again no services were performed. She was running around the car yelling and totally out of control. People were staring. I was actually somewhat afraid of what she might do. read more

I been using Tidy dog for a year now. I went to them because they said that the knew how to treat rescue dogs. The did ok for a while but after this last time I am NEVER going back to them. I brought my Schnoodle and gave instructions for a Teddy Bear look and even told them how I wanted it. When I got there I paid and the owner ran to the back. I then got my dogs and realized that they shaved his entire body except for a little bit on his head. He was also scared and defensive. They hurt his ear and nip the other dog ear as well. No one mention anything about why they did that. After 5 hours and $170 for 2 dogs I expected them to know what they are doing. My poor baby look terrible and have to wear a sweater for Christmas pictures.. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

The owners are nice people, however I don't recommend them due to several incidents in the past where they had my dog for over 6-9 hours each time and she was even completely groomed the last time, they didn't trim her nails are cut the fur on her feet. I've used them probably 10 times in the past. They've done good jobs, and also some botched cuts on my miniature Schnauzer. I hate leaving a bad review for a small business, but I have had many bad experiences with Steve and his employees over the years. They have suggested that I have my little dog get fully sedated via vet using hypodermic needle injection type meds whenever she just doesn't like to have her feet touched. This is dangerous because dogs cannot regulate their body temperature while under sedation, and lord knows how long Tidy Dog will keep her. Appointments don't mean Jack squat to these people. Take your beloved fur babies elsewhere unless they're under new management. read more

Dog Grooming is a profession and like any professional service, you should expect to get what you asked for. For instance, when I asked that they leave my dog with an inch of fur and she comes back shaved, that's a problem. If for whatever reason a groomer cannot fulfill my request, it's reasonable to expect they'll tell me before they get started with an alternate plan instead of doing what they would like or as mentioned by another customer "trying something new". I find it unacceptable to work with groomers like this, find another one! Do not recommend this one. read more

Horrible service skills, read the reviews for sure apparently they injure a lot of pets and claim its because they are kind enough to over book themselves, apparently has the cops called(almost had to call myself) and call the cops of clients often, again read the reviews, they are notorious for cutting your pets hair how they prefer, seen quite a bit of people complaining about this and felt myself as if they "don't listen or follow instructions" Its wild that I pay for a service and explain what Im looking for yet they decide what they like and want to be paid. You'd think at that point they are paying for what they want instead. Id recommend avoiding this place. For the headache and risk of injury they bring it just isn't worth it. Facebook and google are full of reviews mentioning the same. I could go on, they held my dog for 3.5 hours and only bathed him his whole grooming appointment was only supposed to be 3-4 hours. Hell today when I brought up preferring not to speak to Kathleen after she inappropriately yelled at me for misunderstanding my question from our last appointment I was told my appointment was canceled "come get my dog". I've gone here for years, and it used to be so great. My last previous visit was in April. It looked like he had been shared by a blind man. Uneven, random divots in the coat, and the eyes still dirty. I took him back in, they apologized and fixed it the best I could. Now six months later I bring him back, spend several minutes explaining that I did not want to lose the links that we have been working so hard on, just reduce the bulk. And once again, he is completely sheared. Except I'll have to go home and trim the ears myself because they apparently were not touched. $108. STAY AWAY! This would be 0 stars if I could. Owner's wife is nuts, I found out too late reading these reviews AFTER I dropped my dog off. Like all the other reviews, he was there for six hours and they had not called me to pick him up. It was now 5 pm and closing time. I came in and said that they had not called me but he had been there six hours and I wanted to pick him up. She told me to calm down (when I was a perfectly calm.) I had just read the review about her chasing somebody out of the store, so I wasn't going to set her off. She said they were short staffed like everybody else and two big dogs that were matted put them behind. Then the groomer put my dog on the table to groom him and said he would be done in 15 minutes so I waited. The groomer- her husband- didn't charge me for the cut- just the other services. The woman expected me to be excited about this discount and proceeded to be sarcastic because I wasn't jumping for joy. When my dog came out, he had been shaved with apparently no intent to do the cut I asked for. In the meantime I could hear the woman talking in the back about "people coming in being hateful." She seemed to believe that she was the customer and I was causing her a problem to have my dog back in less than six hours. If they are short staffed why are they taking in so many dogs? We said we would just come and get the dog and when we got there were severely accosted by the owner's wife, who followed us out to the car claiming she would call the police over not paying her $54.72 for "services rendered". Recently our mobile groomer left the company they were working for and the company canceled all our remaining appointments. I researched various grooming locations and chose Tidy Dogs. They were fabulous!! Our dog Deacon is a large golden retriever and they didn't hesitate to take him based on his size, 95 lbs. Deacon has NEVER looked better and we have already booked a follow up appointment. It is worth the expense for my golden to look this good. Plus, everyone is so very nice. I dropped my dog off for grooming today at 12:45. When I asked how long, they told me it would be a few hours because they were short a groomer. At 3, I called back to ask how much longer they would be. They said it would still be a couple of hours because they were short "a few" groomers. I finally went to pick him up at 5, I still hadn't heard from them. When I got there, they said it would be another 45 minutes because the groomer was dematting him. When I picked him up, he was super excited and at first glance he looked fine! However, when I got home and really looked at him, I got a little upset. His behind is completely shaved. He has gaps on his head, his legs, tummy (as you can see in the pictures), and not to mention there are still plenty of matts in his fur. I asked several people how he did during the grooming, they all said he did great with the exception of being afraid of the blowdryer. He's a schnauzer, so I understand the coat was matted. Not once did someone say it was so matted to the point he had to be gapped or shaved. There is no excuse for his entire behind to be shaved because his fur doesn't get matted there. When he got home, he was also dying of thirst and drank nearly an entire bowl of water. After doing more research on this place, I notice in several reviews people mention their dogs being extremely thirsty since they wait so long in kennels without water or being walked. It also seems to be a very common thing with the grooming taking an entire day. read more

Gus does not normally do well with baths or strangers. They were very patient and accommodating. We have been taking our Toy Poodle to Tidy Dog for some time, and they have always done a wonderful job with him. I was concerned however that our big guy would be too much to handle, especially with his tendency to be anxious around water or new people. I explained my concerns to the staff and they seemed to understand and said they would take their time with him. I completely expected to get a call telling me that they couldn't do it once they tried. Instead I got a call a few hours later telling me he was done and ready to be picked up. I could not believe how good he looked and how calm he was. We will definitely be taking both our guys back to them as long as they will have us. read more

We boarded our dog here and they did a good job dealing with her. However, if you have a medium size or bigger dog this might not be the place for boarding considering the doors to their pens are baby gates. Our dog apparently got out multiple times because she could easily get out of the pen they had her in. The workers were great, but that's the only down fall. read more

I will start by saying my dog looks wonderful and the groomer did a great job. That being said, I will not be returning to Tidy Dog. I had heard about this business and wanted to support it since I understood it was led by veterans. I called to make an appointment and left a message, and I got a return call the next day and set up my appointment. I asked for a pricing estimate and was told they couldn't give that to me at that time, and would call me the following day with a price estimate. I found that odd, but agreed anyway. They did in fact call me the next day - so to recap, they've now successfully called me twice. On the day I dropped my dog off, I was told he would be done in three hours. 4 hours later, I called to see if he was ready. I was told if they hadn't called me yet, he wasn't ready. I suppose I was speaking to someone not at the salon to check for me? So I continued to wait. At 5.5 hours after drop off, I called and no one answered, so I left a message asking them to call me immediately with an update on my dog and left my cell phone in the message. I never got a response. So after over six hours at the salon, I went to pick up my dog and was told that he had been ready for a long time. I asked why on earth they had not contacted me and they said they had tried but they had the wrong number listed for me. Going back to the beginning of the story, they had successfully called me twice in consecutive days prior to the appointment. My dog is almost 12 years old. He was away from food, water and his usual routine for over 6 hours. He hadn't been let out to use the restroom. That is extremely hard on a senior dog. I was offered a polite apology, but I expected much better from a veteran-run establishment. I wish I had read some of these reviews earlier, as it sounds like some had similar experiences. read more

I've taken my dogs to groomers all over town. We like to keep my sheltie cut short, tight to her body, without damaging her coat. Tidy dog has far exceeded every other place we've taken her too. They also listened and kept my golden doodle from looking too much like a poodle, just like I asked. I've been taking my toy poodle to Tidy Dog for nearly 3 years now, and have had almost entirely great experiences until recently. The last time I took my dog, I walked in and witnessed one of the groomers shouting "STOP" to a small black toy poodle, and aggressively pushing him to sit down. I'm not sure if the dog had growled or what, but I didn't hear or see any kind of aggressive behavior from the dog, so her reaction seemed unnecessarily harsh. It made me nervous for my dog, so I called back and told them I would pick him up if at any point they felt the need to manhandle him as well. I was told the dog's owner gave them permission to "do whatever was necessary," but that's just not the type of behavior I personally am comfortable with, and not what I would expect from an experienced groomer. I know others might not consider that instance as bad as I did, so I will say, they have always done a great job grooming my poodle to my liking. It is really convenient that you can schedule appointments through their app, and they are very accommodating to your schedule. They are also the fastest groomers I've ever used. The owner is super friendly and helpful, and aside from that one particular groomer, everyone I've encountered there has been great. Trusting a groomer and finding the right one for your dog is not easy, and unfortunately, my last experience makes me too nervous to return. But I hope that was an isolated and genuinely innocent incident, because I would otherwise recommend it. read more

I was pressed for time to get my lab/samoyed groomed over the holidays and my usual grooming center was closed. I called Tidy Dog to check availability and they got my dog Gypsy in the next day. Night before the appointment I read the reviews here on Yelp and was torn. I couldn't understand how the reviews varied from great to awful. I had previous bad experiences at PetSmart and Petco and was hesitant, but I took a chance and so glad i did! We had a wonderful experience. Before she was bathed, Steve took the time to educate me about her coat, the appropriate length, how to groom at home to keep the look, etc. By the time we left Gypsy there I felt she was in good hands. What usually took my "regular" center ALL day to groom, it only took Tidy Dog a couple of hours. When we picked her up we were amazed how beautiful she looked... bows and all. She even smelled cleaner than the usual bath she gets at the other place. The owners were friendly and professional and I would recommend them to even the pickiest of pet owners. read more

After many hours of looking at bad reviews about dog groomers in the Nashville area, I found Tidy Dog with good reviews. They had a really quick opening for my 2 dogs. I made my appointment on line, which was quick and easy. I took my dogs to their appointment and toured the salon. All the dogs being groomed looked happy. I liked the enclosures they were in as not metal kennels. The dogs each had a small pad to rest. I was told about 3 1/2 hours when they would be ready. (That was how long it took). When I went to pick them up they were so happy. THEY LOOKED AWESOME. They were not afraid or cowering, as I have seen when taking a dog to another groomer. The price was fair and they gave a military discount. I did not receive any incentive for this review. I boarded my 7 pound Pomeranian with this place. When I picked him up he had not eaten and had not been walked and exercised. As a result of him not being walked he was constipated and severely impacted. I had to take my dog to an emergency veterinarian. ANYONE READING THIS DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS AT TIDY DOG.
