Really good tacos- beef and chicken, one with bottled salsa you add at the table
    Tiffany B.

Being a California girl, tacos have always been one of my major food groups and always will be. That experience also leads me to believe that some of the best tacos you'll ever have are in small little out-of-the-way places that are simple and unassuming. Such is the case here. Nothing fancy, mind you, but simple done so well. Tried the chicken and steak tacos with onion, cilantro and their two fun house salsas in old school tall squeeze ketchup/mustard/condiment type bottles. Flavorful, filling and only one gristly bit had to be removed. When I'm in this part of town, I'm not missing a stop in here.

Chorizo and carne asada tacos with onion and cilantro

We have had a few bad experiences recently with local taquerias and this was the light at the end of a dark tunnel. The tacos were simple and delicious- just as they should be! All of the tacos were fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of char on the carne asada. They're all made hot and fresh on a flat top grill and served with red and green sauce! We will definitely be coming back.

This is probably my most frequented taqueria in town. I love it! It's cheap. $4 feeds me with 2 well-filled tacos of my choice and a Coke in a bottle (an excellent pairing). These Coke bottles come from Mexico. I've tried every taco from el pastor to barbacoa to carnitas and have destroyed any evidence that I ordered any food within moments. I keep wanting to drop the $8 and try the carne asada. It'll happen. Stay tuned...

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Indianapolis area (and quality Mexican restaurants like this are hard to find in these parts).

I have not spent much time in the Eastside of Indianapolis other than Irvington. Driving through…read morehere, you see the blight and the abandonment of this area of Indianapolis since the decline of manufacturing. Then again, it's not an uncommon story unfortunately- large parts of the city forgotten in terms of economic development but then suddenly needed during times of campaigning. Had taken Keystone and then Rural Street to get here, and the potholes are not kind. But, we had this place on our list and were determined to make it here at least once. Tlaolli stood out for its vegan offerings. Plenty of vegan taco options, birria (an absolute rarity to see vegan birria), and torta. They offer soy chorizo, jackfruit, and king oyster mushrooms as protein options. The exterior is colorful, and inside there are seating options. We had gotten our food to go, so I cannot comment too much on the service. Had placed our order online, and the food was ready within the estimated time in the order. We ordered the vegan birria tacos ($17.99), the vegan torta ($10.99 base but added soy chorizo, which was $3.99), and the no-no-no taco ($5.99). Our total with fees was approximately $45. Tlaolli offers outdoor seating, so when the weather is nicer this would be a good place to come. Next to the East Washington IPL branch, Tlaolli has a colorful green exterior with neon signage. Food: The food was very good. The proteins were nicely seasoned and juicy. The highlight for me was the birria tacos and the consome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10. This is a great local business in the area to support: offers a diverse menu of options with food that is comforting and tasty.
