This is easily one of the best Mexican food restaurants I've had in Indiana. The menu has a good selection of items and I eventually chose the Mexican Burrito, aptly called because the sauces they put on the outside make it look like the flag of Mexico. Ordering was quick and the employees were very friendly and quick to make the food. The ingredients were all fresh and very flavorful, a the inside was nice. Is pacos the best Mexican food in Indy? Probably not, but it is always good! I do think their habanero salsa is the best salsa in Indy and I will keep going back just for that! I've noticed a few Paco's locations in our area but went to this location as it's close to our trivia night. It's a counter order fast casual place with a few tables for dine in but most people were doing carry out. We received a friendly greeting from the counter and ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla and a side of guacamole and chips. The quesadilla was delicious and stuffed with chicken, veggies and malty cheese and was topped with their queso. Everything was well seasoned and hot! The guacamole was fresh but could have used a little salt, but that's my personal preference and easily added. I also tried their horchata which was sweet, creamy and flavorful. I have been craving tacos, so I stopped inside of Paco's Tacos on Keystone Ave. The parking lot is definitely tight, so be careful when you park your vehicle. Inside, there is a dining area and self serve condiment and horchata station. The menu is not extensive, but has a good selection. The staff there were friendly. I went on two separate occasions. The tapatio tacos are their version of birria tacos. They are very flavorful and cheesy. The consume is brothy. I feel like it could use more depths of flavor, but it's still tasty. The tacos are very good. My only complaint is that sometimes pieces of the meat are heated through. Their salsas are good as well. I enjoy the chipotle and habanero ones over the green, which is more mild. I also tried the carne asada plate. I wasn't that satisfied with the meat because it was very tough and lukewarm. From my past experiences, I know their wait times can be long on busier nights as a small restaurant. I advise ordering in advance or for takeout in order to combat this and improve your overall experience. Although the team was having system issues when I arrived, my order was still ready close to the estimated time online. The cashier kindly offered a free drink (horchata) for my wait, which was unnecessary but so kind. For food, I recommend the carne asada (steak) burrito. While I noticed some reviews mentioning a small size, my burrito was stuffed and delicious when paired with their fresh salsas. The salsa verde was my favorite! Since my last visit, Paco's rebranded their signage and online presence, which is great! Dining inside the space was fine, but it got crowded at times with people waiting for takeout orders and in the winter there was a cold draft by the windows. It won't detract from your overall experience if you go in with this understanding, but in the future I will likely order my food to go. They have a small attached parking lot, but beware that's tight and challenging to get in and out during their busy dinner times. Pro tip: Be sure to check for any online specials! When glancing at the online menu, I noticed they were offering a deal for free churros with an online order over $20. If you are looking for something quick and in the middle for Mexican I would say to stop but if you're wanting something good......keep going. It had been some time since I have been to Paco's and after going again I remembered why. The food is pretty bland and doesn't stand out. This was probably the smallest chimichanga I have ever had and it wasn't cheap!! The meal cost me $14 and it wasn't even good. To say I was disappointed in the amount I spent would be an understatement. I also ordered chips and guacamole and guess what......you pay for them SEPARATE!!! $5 for the guacamole and another $3 for chips! Can you believe it?!?! I sure couldn't. I will say the guacamole was pretty decent but it definitely wasn't $5 good. Mi Amor ordered chicken tacos and he was equally unimpressed. The service was great though! I got an asada and a pastor. They are small but there is so much meat on them 2 was plenty! I also got the habanero sauce and let me tell you it was but so good! We had chicken quesadilla, two beef tacos and elotes. Friends got chorizo tacos and eotes. Friends thought the chorizo was dry but good flavor. One that had the elotes was hoping for more heat but he was still happy with all the cheese and lime. They also really liked the chips and queso. I had the beef tacos. I always forget how diffrent real mexican tacos are. No lettuce or cheese. Just meat , onion and cilantro in a corn tortilla. I ate the beef and left the corn tortillas. I don't like corn tortillas. I have been wanting to stop here for some time- and tonight was the night! Paco's dis not disappoint. Cool graffiti type art work on the walls. The place was very busy and we had to wait a little bit for our food. But definitely worth it! My son had a couple tacos (Carnitas and Barbosa), while I had the Carnitas quesadilla. We also had a side of chips and queso. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Even the green salsa, while they called it hot, was not extremely hot but had a lot of flavor. This is tough to write, especially in this economy, but I have had multiple bad experiences with Paco's on Keystone. It is too much money to throw food in the trash. Tacos were full of grease, ground meat, not steak and smothered in cheese in an onion n cilantro only order. History of wrong orders and missing or few sauces. This time, the food quality was so poor with things even floating in the queso. I will never go back. If I want tacos, I will stay with Indy Tacos! Since we've been working from home, my husband loooooves to order takeout for lunch. Today he chose Paco's - a place we've always wanted to try but always forget about. He ordered on Door Dash and we had no problems with the order. I got birria tacos, an al pastor taco, and a carnitas taco. He got ground beef nachos, a barbacoa burrito, and churros. We wanted to try a bit of everything. I was worried about how the tacos would travel, especially the birria tacos, but they were all in great shape! Everything was decently warm, but benefited from a quick spin in the microwave. The way they packaged the nachos was GENIUS! Everything that tops the chips - queso, retried beans, ground beef, onions, lettuce, tomato, and fresh jalapeño - was in a styrofoam container without the chips. The chips were in a separate bag so you could dip them in the nacho topping (essentially a jazzed up queso dip) and they wouldn't be soggy. We loved it! Was a huge fan of the birria tacos. They come 2 per order and between those and a few nachos, I didn't even have room for the other tacos. I saved them for dinner though, and they were excellent! The al pastor was my favorite. For street tacos, they have plenty of filling and 2 are definitely substantial enough for a meal. The churros were crispy and hot and came with a Carmel dipping sauce and a chocolate dipping sauce. A sweet ending to our lunchtime feast! Will definitely add Pacos to the rotation, and am glad to know that takeout is a great option! read more
