I made an appointment here because they got on the schedule for next day! Out of pocket for teeth cleaning is $70. If you want xrays, its an additional 30. I opted not to get them because I didn't think I would need them. Dr. Park was my hygienist/Dentist. I've never had a dentist do the plaque removal and polishing before. This was the fastest cleaning I've ever had in my life. It was literally 15 minutes. lots of buffering and spitting. Tbh, it wasn't very enjoyable. I know most dentist appointments aren't. But everything hurt. Apparently, I have 4 cavities and a bunch of surface abrasions. I was quoted for restorative procedure but I'm also getting a second opinion. if you're without insurance and want a cheap and fast cleaning.. this is the spot.

At 53 years old, I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed along with a bone graft. I was told by many people that recovery at my age would be very difficult, but Dr. Hoang was amazing! On the day of surgery, he made me feel completely comfortable and at ease. My recovery went much better than I expected. My mother had a consultation over a year ago and was told the office would submit a request to Medi-Cal to determine coverage. After a few months of hearing nothing, I called and was told it had been denied and would be resubmitted. A few months later, I called again and was given the same answer. Each time, I was told the office would contact us with updates, but that never happened. Instead, I had to keep calling to find out the status myself. What frustrated me most was that it took nearly a year to reach the final answer that the treatment was not covered and would need to be paid out of pocket. I completely understand that insurance approvals can be difficult and that offices are busy. I also do not mind paying out of pocket if needed. However, during that year, my mother's infection continued to worsen while we were waiting for updates that never came. My concern is not the insurance decision itself, but the lack of communication and follow-up. I hope the office can improve its tracking and accountability process so that patients are kept informed rather than having to repeatedly reach out on their own.

I actually live pretty far from the area but I make the drive because he's the best! He does all the cleaning and scaling himself, even though he can hire nurses to do it.. simply because he wants to maintain his skill.. He never over charges.. actually, in most cases, I think he undercharges if you're paying out of pocket. He's super friendly. He gives a dad-like vibe. He does/did a lot of volunteer work overseas, giving free dental care to the underprivileged -- just adding in that fact just to show you how nice he is. All of my friends and extended family members love him too. He's the best in the industry.

I ended up having to schedule a last-minute emergency procedure to get them removed because I just couldn't take the pain anymore. Not only did California Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center get me in on such short notice, but the entire team was incredible. This was my first surgery ever, and even though it was a relatively minor procedure, I was honestly pretty nervous. Everyone was so kind, patient, and reassuring, and they made the whole experience feel so seamless. Thank you to the doctors and staff for taking such great care of me and making me feel comfortable every step of the way. I truly appreciate it more than you know. However, once I arrived and was already sitting with the dentist, I was told that they needed to take X-rays first in order to provide a consultation. I felt pressured in the moment and didn't know how to say no. After the X-rays were taken, the dentist reviewed them, explained what they saw, and gave me an estimate between $2,500 and $4,000. Only after everything was done, I was told they would bill my insurance for the X-rays and the exam. I also informed the dentist that I am currently seeing another dentist and had X-rays taken about a month ago. I understand offices may have their own procedures, but if insurance billing was going to happen, it should have been clearly explained before I came in, especially when the appointment was presented as a "free consultation." (I've had recurrent canker sores that last a couple months before they heal and this most recent breakout had one canker sore the diameter of a quarter!) My PCP and ENT dr's have been trying to find a solution but Dr. Tom helped with laser therapy to at least heal the current ones I have. I've tried all sorts of different natural remedies from salt water rinses to baking soda to vitamins to SLS-free toothpaste to Chinese herbs and none have fixed it. Lasers don't cure the root problem but at least they have significantly sped up healing.

They tried to push an unnecessary deep cleaning on me--even after I confirmed with my insurance (Humana) and my sister-in-law, a licensed dental hygienist, that I didn't need it. She personally reviewed my X-rays and said there was zero justification for that level of treatment. Despite this, the office kept insisting I needed it, then manipulated the billing codes to group procedures in a way that would force me to pay more out-of-pocket--even though my insurance covers 70%. When I called Humana, they confirmed the office was submitting things incorrectly. But instead of owning up to it, the staff tried to blame the insurance company and act like they were "just trying to help me save money." That was a lie. I wanted the office to send an appeal. They did not do that. They kept saying I desperately needed it but if I did then my insurance should have no problem covering it. They did not provide sufficient proof/evidence for the claim to be approved. It just didn't make any sense to me. I chose to text as a form of contact so I would have receipts of the conversation in case anything happened and I'm glad I did because when I re read everything it's just absolutely ridiculous how they handled the situation and how they dodged so many of my questions while I was trying to gain clarity. This place is predatory. They rely on patients not understanding billing codes or questioning treatment plans. It is so important to understand what your insurance covers because places like this will do everything in their power to make you pay up front and tell you insurance will cover it later. Then you'll realize your insurance will reject the claim snd you're out $500 of your own money. The whole experience felt like a setup to squeeze as much money as possible from me under the guise of "care." Do yourself a favor: get a second opinion, talk to your insurance, and run far away from this office. They are unethical, dishonest, and absolutely not looking out for your best interest. Also I want to mention if you look at the other 1 star review, you can see the another person having the same exact issue regarding the deep cleaning. I couldn't believe it.
