Do NOT go here. I had braces with Dr Vu and checkups with his wife for six years, all through high school and into college. I regret it immensely. Communication from the doctor was very poor during treatment with no real plan, and I had structural issues with my jaw at the time that neither he nor his wife (a general dentist) addressed. Not only that, but after getting my braces off and going to a different dentist during college, I was informed of very obvious cavities that were never addressed or even mentioned by either of the couple -- despite going to them for general cleanings every six months AND having the orthodontist and his assistants looking at the inside of my mouth EVERY month. I've been a patient at Vu orthodontics for 4 years now. Dr. Vu is very thorough and is an expert in his craft. He makes sure that you understand what needs to be done for your teeth to be perfect. He also makes sure to ask about your own thoughts on the improvements made to make sure you're satisfied. Before going here, I had a major underbite and my teeth were a bit crooked. If I could go back in time and never set foot in Vu Orthodontics, I would. From age 15 to 20, I endured five years of absolute misery under Dr. Vu's care -- if you can even call it care. He might have an engineering background, but he has no business managing people's dental health. For years, I wore braces under his treatment with no clear timeline, no consistent updates, and absolutely no sense of progress. Every appointment felt like guesswork. And while that was frustrating enough, what really pushed things over the edge was what happened with my wisdom teeth. At the time, Dr. Vu told me my wisdom teeth were fine -- not impacted, nothing to worry about. He even joked that I could "keep them as spare tires." At 32 years old, a chiropractor -- not a dentist -- was the one to finally suggest that my years of chronic neck and arm pain might be related to those same wisdom teeth. Sure enough, they were completely impacted and growing perpendicular to my rear molars. It took an oral surgeon to remove them, and he found they were severely infected and dangerously close to my nerve. I ended up in a sling for two weeks, dealing with agonizing nerve pain -- something that could have been avoided if Dr. Vu had taken a fraction of the responsibility a medical professional should. Looking back, I feel sick to my stomach that I trusted him with something as important as my health. I have been a patient of Dr. Vu for more than six years. To me, he is a very knowledgeable and caring person. He answers and explains very clearly the questions I want to know. I Google search for orthodontist office, I came across to Vu Orthodontic. I'm glad that I chose this place. The receptionist always give me a schedule that most fit for me for my son. They take care of us. There is barely any wait time for us when we arrived, and if we do wait it's no more than 10 mins at most. If there were issue with my son's braces, Dr.Vu would come to me to address any issues and even after he had addressed it to my son. He wants to make sure my son do his diligent. Dr. Vụ has been my dentist for over 10 years. He's very knowledgeable and good at what he does though his no-nonsense attitude may come off as too harsh for some people. When I got my braces from him, he was clear and straight-forward though as a kid, I was sometimes upset about not getting what I wanted. He's not someone who will give false promises to make someone happy; if he says he can't do something, we talk about why and what the alternatives are. For example, when my last baby teeth were falling out, the adult tooth underneath didn't come to the surface, so he gave me surgery to pull it out. I cried and he listened to me, and we were able to finish it seamlessly after I calmed down. Basically, he is someone who understands teeth extremely well and will respond to the people's needs. Additionally, when I got my wisdom teeth surgery, we did an X-ray, so he could see which teeth were impacted and ensure we only pulled out as much as we needed to. When working with him, if I got X-rays from other places, I would ask them to forward it to him or asked for a copy myself, so he can work with the most up-to-date information. Multiple times I've had to wait 30+ minutes after my scheduled appointment time. I get it, with things like this it can go over the expected time. Today, I was scheduled and texted to show up at 10:30 am on a Saturday. I showed up right before 10:30 am and no one was there. I check their times and it says not open until 11:00 am. I wait there for another 30 minutes until they open we're supposed to be open. I called both phone numbers and the number that texted me for a reminder for my appointment. They weren't open even after 11:10 am. I leave and return home and they call me at 11:20 am saying they have an emergency and are finally there. I'm not harsh on a lot of places, but I never want to come back here. read more

You have been working so hard on my ONE tooth for 2 years and you deserve a 5 star review. I still rememeber running around and getting turned away due to the complex of such a task . My tooth had fallen out and its bone had been damaged and almost gone. A dentist friend recommneded me a professor in UCLA who she thought would be the only person who could help. I tried calling and after several attempts she said she would help maybe in 2 months time . My pain was so great that I went to every single Ortho in my area to see who could accept me. And you could guess, Dr Vu was the one. I didnt have much faith if he could save my tooth cause I trusted my friend that a dental professor at ucla would be the only pro who could help. I got my braces with Dr. Vu back in 2011 and completed it by 2014. It took a total of 3.5 years as he had mentioned in the beginning. He doesn't see you at every monthly appointment, but he is always on track. A couple of times he told me that my next appointment would be the one where we would take everything off, but when the day comes and he is not satisfied, he will continue until it's perfect. To some, this may be frustrating, but trust him and the process. It was very worth it to me. I loved my end results and still do to this day. But I have to say getting braces wasn't the only life changing thing he's done for me. There is one simple interaction that he had with me that means so much to me. Which I will share after this quick background: I had horrible stains on my two front teeth. We have no idea where it came from, but they show up when my adult teeth grew out. They were two brown horizontal stains that everyone would stare at and often times mentioned. None of my previous dentists could do anything about it. One went as far as to mention drilling the stains out and filling them in again. So having this stain took a hit at my insecurity more than having crooked teeth. Now fast forward to about a year into braces, I was waiting for my dental assistant to put in a fresh wire and Dr. Vu was free and walking around. He did a quick double take and decided to check in on me. I remember he squinted for a second and then asked, "What's this you got here?" *taps my two front teeth* "They are stains Dr. Vu...all of my dentists said there isn't anything I could do about it." "I could do something about it." "What?!" "Give me 5 minutes." *takes out a brush of some sort and a solution?* *brushes away* *steps back* *grabs mirror* I looked at the mirror and there were no stains anywhere. Appointments are never on time. +/-15 minutes are acceptable, but it's aways about 1-hour wait. It seems they scheduled over their capacity and patients times are overlapping if one patient went over their allotted times. I understand trying to satisfy everyone, but they must also understand that everyone has other errands to do, especially in this day-n-age. I've had my braces done here and my wisdom tooth removal as well. Dr. Vu knows exactly what's he's doing. Sometimes the process takes long or it can be frustrating, but I can't deny the results, especially his methods in wisdom tooth removal. He's very precise and careful. He takes his time and adjusts whatever is needed to make you comfortable. His sutures are very well done as I didn't need a gauze. My face wasn't swollen either! Granted I only removed one. I had a cross bite and a funky tooth that stuck out. My funky tooth was an eyesore that I lived with for over 20 years! I was afraid of the pain of conventional braces and never thought that I would be a candidate for Invasalign. Invasalign was designed to be worn for about 18 months. Dr. Vu designed a program specifically for my teeth which I wore for close to 3 years. I would have had to wear conventional braces for the same amount of time thanks to the cross bite and my funky tooth. On top of that, I would have to do some some funny cranking exercises if I chose conventional braces. I go to Dr. Vu and refer everyone that I come across to him because he's a perfectionist. Sometimes I get anxious because he takes too long on me, but I can't complain about that. I can care less about the staff, although I've never had a problem with them before. They've always been professional in my eyes. My friends and their family travel distances just to go to Dr. Vu because they were very impressed with how my teeth turned out. Just yesterday, I called the office early in the morning but didn't get through to a live person (probably because I called before work hours), but later in the day I received a phone call from Dr. Vu personally. I was very shocked to hear his voice. I've been in the healthcare field for 13 years. I know first hand that the standard of the healthcare industry has dropped significantly throughout the years because of reimbursements cuts made by the insurance company to the providers. In order to keep up with overhead the providers will have to double/triple book to be able to meet the quota for the day. Having your doctor personally call you is stellar service in my books. I will continue to refer my friends and family to Dr. Vu because I know he is passionate and stands behind his work. read more

I really like this doctor. Very nice easy going and knowledgeable DR. Clearly know what he is doing. Educates his patient thoroughly and then LET THEM make the decision on their treatment. This may not be a big deal breaker for most who expects their DR to do everything for them. For me this is a big deal. The staff were friendly and get their work done accordingly, new office and equipment. Provide photos and X-Rays for patient instead of outsourcing it (saves a lot of hassle)and give his patient personal copies upon request at no additional charge. Big plus. Highly recommend. DON'T DO IT. JUST WALK AWAY. made the mistake of getting braces here. They schedule several people for the same time and make you wait forever. Dr Vu does not look at one patient and move on to the next---he jumps from patient to patient and then back. Most times he slips off the gloves so his assistants can use them. I was always scared of catching some disease here. After 4 years he told me my teeth were straight and braces were ready to come off. Ok, great. I arrange for a babysitter so I can go to my final appointment. Once there, he tells me there are several teeth that aren't perfect and I can sign a waiver, or continue wearing the braces. Seriously, the a-hole should have told me that the previous visit. At this point I was done with this place and just wanted them off. He is very straightforward and never makes promises he cannot keep which is a refreshing change compared to other doctors who will only say whatever you want to hear. I had an appointment for a consultation for my two kids in two hrs. I called in to confirm the location since google indicated it was Dental Land. The receptionist (sounded like a un-prof wife) picked up and said "Allo" I nicely asked if the office was Dr. Vu Orthodontics and if it was the same location as Dental Land. The lady thought I was looking for DentalLand and was rude. I told her it did not matter if I was looking for Dentaland Or Dr Vu office that she should be nice to people regardless. Doctor Vu take off his glove because he might touch something dirty with his glove on and he has to take his glove off so something dirty doesn't go in your mouth. Have used his services for about 4 years and have watched his quality decline. I was pleased with him initially, but now he's just about making money and his quality of work has suffered. He has two dental assistants who are not very nice to the kids. He is often late for his appointments due to overbooking. Kids have to sit in the dental chair for at least 1/2 hour before any maintenance work is done. Secondly, his assistants have been hand-chosen after proving they have the sufficient skills to work in his office. Not only are they knowledgeable about braces and Dr. Vu's procedures, they are also genuine people and display the most respectable chair-side manners. During the course of my five year treatment, I have seen various assistants come and go, but what I have also witnessed was the growth of their skills. Not only have they made drastic improvements in their work, they have shown myself, as well as other patients, the utmost respect and care. Thirdly, to be simply mathematical, there is only one Dr. Vu in the office and he is never late. He and his assistants may be helping a handful of patients at a time, some with more dire orthodontic problems than the last.
