I've been Dr. Kim's patient foreverrr!! I went to him to get my baby teeth pulled out. Now I'm 25 and I just got an extraction done by him a couple days ago. I actually live pretty far from the area but I make the drive because he's the best! He does all the cleaning and scaling himself, even though he can hire nurses to do it.. simply because he wants to maintain his skill.. He never over charges.. actually, in most cases, I think he undercharges if you're paying out of pocket. He's super friendly. He gives a dad-like vibe. He does/did a lot of volunteer work overseas, giving free dental care to the underprivileged -- just adding in that fact just to show you how nice he is. best dentist ever... been here for everything....teeth pulled as a child, braces, wisdom teeth yanked out, retainers, mouth guards, fillings every gross and horrible dental experience you can think of however I still like the doctor which mean hes great! he speaks english fluently and all the staff are extremely friendly and calming! only reason its not a 5 is that hes so busy getting emergency or just any appointments can take awhile read more

I been going here ever since I was in high school for my braces. My mom did her implant here and our whole family still go here for any dental problems. Every time we visit it's 100% satisfaction and I can't thank more for such a reasonable price and great job he have done for many years. He speaks Korean & English fluently and receptionist at front desk is very kind and nice. Not like the young lady who was there couple years ago. Dr. Kim was my family's dentist since I was 4 years old. He is as good as it gets. He took care of me when I had braces, teeth issues, etc. The staff is super nice and they've been working for Dr. Kim for as long as I can remember. Dr. Kim has the nicest dental bedside manner that he makes you feel comfortable right away. I miss seeing him because I trusted him and he was always honest. If you need a dentist to handle your needs and you feel like you're in capable hands, don't pass Dr. Kim up. I had tried several dentists near where I live but have not find any good one yet. Most of them were either high in prices, talk me into doing the work that I don't need or/and filling jobs done' not last over a year. I found Dr. Kim on Yelp and decided to give him a try. I brought my current x-ray (1 month old) to Mr. Kim's office and asked if I need the works recommended by my dentist in FL. My current dentist informed that my old silver fillings were cracked and I have 2 cavities. He said I need to remove those old silver filling and put two crowns for those teeth. When I came to Dr. Kim and asked for his advise, Mr. Kim said..."No", I do not have cavities on those two teeth. I asked him about my other teeth that are sensitive when brushing or eating/drinking cold or hot food. He said, all I need is some simple fillings on my teeth and they will all be good and guarantee them for 2 years. His prices are very reasonable but his works, I don't know yet. Okay, so... Dr. Kim Youngjoon is by far the best and friendliest dentist I'd ever met, hands down. I'm so satisfied with my first visit, this review is going to be pretty long. After suffering from killer growing pains radiating around my lower right wisdom tooth, I couldn't take it any longer and just HAD to have it pulled out. I was a bit hesitant to go to my family dentist, who is also a close friend of my dad, since he's extremely good at making everything really painful. And the fact that he tells me that he "doesn't believe in pain killers" doesn't really help ease me. He's just... terrible. But I'm getting off topic here. I digress. So upon searching on Yelp for a bunch of dentists nearby, I came across this exact page and saw all the amazing reviews. I was a bit skeptical since there was only a total of 5 reviews, but all of them seemed to be pretty legit and every review mentioned the same thing about the office staff and the doctor himself being extremely kind and helpful. The keyword I was looking for was "wisdom extraction" and everyone wrote that he does it quickly and pain-free. That was all I needed to give him a try. The next day I called in to make an appointment and was shocked at the receptionist's English. I read that she and Dr. Kim spoke English well, but not THIS well. Having gone to many Korean medical offices, I wasn't used to such perfect English. But anyway, she was so kind over the phone. I had so many questions to ask her regarding x-rays, the cost, and timing - she answered everything clearly and explained exactly what I wanted to know. She asked about my age and when I said I was 19, she seemed to kind of change the whole "cost issue" to make it more reasonable for my age. She was awesome! I booked an appointment for that Saturday and went. The building looks like a small cottage... kind of. Haha. And when you step inside, it's SUPER clean and "cozy". He has a computer for visitors to use while they wait and such. The receptionist was on top of things, new who I was when I walked up, and had all the papers I needed to fill out all ready to go for me. I don't think it took more than 10 minutes to actually go inside and be seated on the dental chair. Each "room" has it's own TV and I can't stress enough how clean the whole place was. The equipment all seemed pretty new, too, as if he just recently ordered new ones. Now, about Dr. Kim... he's seriously so amazing. He took a look at my tooth and asked me what the problem I had was. I asked him if it was okay to just get it pulled out because I'd been dealing with the pain for a few weeks now. He then said I would need an x-ray, but that it wasn't free. I liked how he mentioned that it wasn't free. A lot of places don't mention that and some people would think it's free (which is stupid. I don't know why anyone would think an x-ray is free). But yeah, I still would have paid for it even if he didn't mention it, but the fact that he gives you the choice is what I love. So I took the x-ray, waited for the results, then he brought the x-ray back to me and explained that since my wisdom tooth was growing out perfectly straight, it wouldn't be necessary to extract it if cost was an issue. He said if the cost of the procedure is worrisome, then he will just prescribe some painkillers for the time being at no cost. I asked him how much it would be and he said $170. I told him that I was ready to have it pulled out and he immediately started the procedure. He injected like two shots of novocaine into my gums, but they weren't nearly as painful as when my family doctor did them. Dr. Kim also made sure I laid there for a good ten minutes to let the numbness kick in, then he did a small test to make sure I really was completely numb. He then popped my wisdom tooth right out (in a matter of seconds) and we were done! He had his assistant pack me a BUNCH of extra gauze to bite on since he said the bleeding would last for a few hours. Then when I went to pay for everything, the receptionist charged me $170. I asked, "What about the cost of the x-ray?" and she said it was all included. Like OMG. Really? When Dr. Kim told me $170, I thought he meant just for the procedure only. But everything included at $170 was just... shocking. And on top of that, he asked the receptionist to give me something. It was a small yellow envelope with a handful (really, a huge handful) of Ibuprofen painkillers... for FREE. AND he prescribed me a different kind of medication as well. And last but not least, when I walked out of the building, the receptionist lady came running out after me just as I was about to get in my car and she handed me a freezing ice pack saying, "Dr. Kim wanted me to give this to you. He seemed worried and didn't want you to get all swollen up." I was so touched! Their friendliness will never be forgotten and I'm definitely returning for future check ups! Dr. Kim is the best! My family has been going to him for 25+ years and he has the most gentle hands and heart. As pain free as any dental work can be and with regular visits and his recommendations, we have avoided cavities and even braces for my older daughter. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and Dr. Kim and his family are genuine, friendly and make visiting the dentist easy. Like everyone else leaving reviews here, I've been seeing Dr. Kim ever since I was in the first grade. I've had A LOT of problems with my teeth, but my family was able to put 100% of our trust in Dr. Kim. He never tries to rip you off like other dentists and he's always honest with his opinion. My family never thinks there's a need for a second opinion. There are so many things that I've gone through in Dr. Kim's office. Countless number of x-rays, many tooth extractions (my baby teeth wouldn't come out!), this painful process of "carving" my gums and putting braces on the teeth that couldn't find room to grow, braces, extraction of all four wisdom teeth, and of course, the usual check up. Bottom line: I drive 20-25 minutes from Buena Park to Garden Grove to see Dr. Kim. Enough said. read more

i've been going to dr. kim ever since i had teeth. the man is an amazing dentist, orthodontist, and oral surgeon - i've had all of my check-ups through him, as well as my braces and wisdom teeth pulling. on top of that, he's extremely cheery and personable, and you can watch tv / surf the web, etc., while you sit in the dentist's chair or in the waiting room. i'm the only one of my friends who never had a fear of the dentist growing up. he's incredible (AND there's plenty of good food to eat in garden grove nearby afterwards! :) ) my only hope is that he never retires. read more
