I love the coffee drink offerings and an atmosphere that is community-driven. I hope Tierra Mia Coffee never loses that vibe if they ever went public. I'm subtracting a star because the Chocolate dulce la leche muffin was messy to eat (and may have been undercooked). It would have easier to eat with a fork like cake but the staff doesn't provide any utensils. Because of that I think the chocolate muffin should be discontinued. Not many customers want sticky and gooey fingers especially while using their laptops or phones. read more

This place is newer and everyone wants to try it. Expect a line in the drive-thru and also inside. The employees were tired, I could tell, but they were working through the Saturday morning rush pretty well. The place is beautiful, but with so much space, you would've expected some cafe food. They only have pastries. I ordered a chocolate croissant and my husband ordered a tres leches muffin. They offered it to be heated which is great, but it is in a microwave instead of a convection oven. I wouldn't recommend the croissant to be warmed up unless you like it soft. The tres leches muffin was a lot better, but I wonder if it's better room temp/cold. The drinks were pretty good, and we were so glad we read the reviews before about the drinks being too sweet - they offer it to be made 50% sweet. I'd personally go for that every time because it was perfectly sweet at 50%. I ordered a flan latte and my husband ordered the rice & beans frappe (the beans is blended whole coffee beans!). My biggest qualm was the wait time and organizational process and layout. The registers are straight in as soon as you walk through the door, leaving the line to order in an odd shape of which direction to start making the line long (i.e. out the door or leave it to the customer to create the line). The menu cannot be seen until you get up to the register because they don't have it on the wall. It leaves you no time to study it, and it's a fairly large menu of coffee, latte, frappe, and blended agua frescas. The drink call out is on the complete opposite side of the seating area. A coffee shop ambiance can make it hard to hear your name when the drinks are ready which makes you feel like you need to stand nearby to grab your drinks. If it can be redone, it'd make sense to have the registers and the drink call out station swapped. The whole in and out took awhile. No one was helping the cashier take drink/food orders and the baristas working between the Cafe and drive-thru orders were doing their best, but wasn't a fine-tuned workflow. With that being said, I'd come back after trying other coffee shops with similar coffee drinks and may come back to try the chocolate tres leches muffin. read more

With my little sister back in town, she's been waiting to try Tierra Mia and she was not disappointed. I mixed it up and ordered the rice and bean frappe, which is basically a take on arroz con leche with espresso beans. It's delicious and the mini pieces of espresso make it perfect. Every time I come here, the staff is so friendly and kind. They always offer a drink carrier and are so cheerful. read more

This place caught my eye because of the huge lines it amasses every single day, which does unfortunately cause mission Avenue to back up into one lane only. I decided to come by on a weekday early afternoon to miss the crowds, there's a good amount of parking directly behind the building. I got the iced Horchata latte, with half the sugar. The half sugar was a good call because it was delicious and pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. Yummy cinnamon Horchata flavor mixed with espresso . If I had gone for full sugar, it probably would've been way too sweet. The interior is bright and there's lots of little tables where you can sit and take a rest. There's also a handful of tables out front with umbrellas, which is where we sat. Staff was friendly and answered our questions. Best Mexican moka I have had in a very long time. I am literally writing this from Tierra Mia in beautiful Oceanside. It is such a beautiful and huge space and it is also drive through! The have a huge communal table which I assume acts as some sort of co-working space. Super cool mid area with few places to sit and, in my opinion, nice decor but space could be more exploited toward the end but I guess is nice not to interfere with people coming and going to the restrooms. Beautiful vibes, really nice faux leather chairs, very comfortable. Such and elegant yet casual look and it seems they open until late at night. I wish I lived closer! The pink walls has photo exhibit of the places where they source their coffee. Music is a bit too loud for my taste, more melodious would be more pleasant. This Latin-inspired coffee shop opened up about 4 months ago (replaced the Burger King). You can't help but notice it on Mission especially when the drive-thru is busy. Gotta loove the café and drive-thru concept! Instead of using the drive-thru, I wanted to go inside. I'm sure glad I did. It's spacious with pictures of both communal and farming aspects of coffee as well as plenty of seating creating a productive but yet peaceful atmosphere...a plus for teleworking. Staff are suuuper friendly and have greaaat customer service skills. When I received the more traditional Caramel Macchiato, I enjoyed it immensely. This coffee place is really delicious! It's worth it if you enjoy flavorful drinks. They definitely don't give you the strong espresso taste in the drinks, but I was happy with the lavender latte with white mocha that I ordered. I also ordered a tres leches muffin that was a nice size if you're ever craving tres leches cake. I got to taste a little of my family's Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and Chocolate Mexicano Frappe, both tasty as well! I went through the drive-through around 2 pm and there were only a couple of cars in front of me. Service was fast and friendly. TIERRA MIA COFFEE This popular Mexican coffee shop has expanded into San Diego and their first stop is Oceanside California. First off, I like their overall branding & the concept behind what they mean to coffee. However, I was overall disappointed in my experience, in that, I thought they were going to bring something unique. I was looking for the use of Housemade ingredients, pastries made in-house and most importantly, cultural food. There is no food. No tortas or cubanos or even a Caesar Salad (originated in Mexico) Or anything of substance. Instead, there's just sweet pastries which are shipped down daily from their bakery up north. So, because they lack "food", I can't even make a direct comparison between them and call them a "Mexican Starbucks". They still will shine in this location and their Drive-Thru will meet the needs of many who desire some sweets on-the-go and especially for those commuting on the i5 hwy to San Diego or San Clemente. Their interior is cute and filled with cultural decor and I love the paintings. The music threw me for a loop... because they were playing Wu-Tang & ODB at one point in time... Customer service is on-point, fast & friendly at the counter & drive-thru. Where they are lacking is inside & I never saw anyone cleaning tables or messes (over a 3 hour timespan). Their bathroom situation was just a tad concerning to me. But i let management know what was going on. They have 2 gender neutral bathrooms, which are typically cool. They use a "grab the key" method of access. My concern is when customers use the bathroom and then keep the key, but keep the door open/unlocked for the next customer. There's multiple stalls inside. But I've seen a woman go inside and then a man follow behind her... So people NEED to make sure that they are getting the keys for the door and locking it behind themselves. Overall, I like what they represent to the area and I'll definitely take them over Starbucks, Better Buzz or Dutch Bros. But I'd prefer to support a smaller brand instead. read more

This is the grand opening week of another coffee shop in Oceanside lol I was curious to try this chain from LA to see what's it about. I tried one of their most popular drinks the Horchata frappe . It tasted authentic Horchata flavor and it wasn't too sweet but didn't stand out too much to me from other horchata drinks from other shops? 3/5. I think their mocha frappe is one of the better ones I've had. Very smooth and cholately with nice presentation 5/5 I also tried their tres leches muffin that was delicious but I wish there was more tres leches in it as half of it tasted like yellow cake. 3/5 I also tried their strawberry guava pastry and that was delicious as well-5/5 rating ! A lot of people have mentioned their poor location drive thru execution. I found if you don't care for the drive thru experience you can take the right turn before and get in thru the parking lot entrance in the back or street parking. I think if management was willing to open up the entire parking lot or the second entrance to the back of the parking lot, that would help the flow of traffic more. The interior design is very nice! Trying a new coffee shop in the area for the first time and it was such a great experience. This location is actually one of the largest coffee shops I've been to nearby, which was really impressive. The parking lot is very spacious, which is definitely a huge plus, and they also have a drive-thru for extra convenience. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the decor is absolutely adorable inside and out. Everything felt very welcoming and well put together, making it a really nice place to sit and relax. I ordered the Dulce de Leche latte and absolutely loved it. As someone who loves coffee, I really appreciate when a place doesn't overload drinks with sugar to the point where you can't even taste the coffee anymore. This one was perfectly balanced and delicious. My husband also really enjoyed his horchata frappe. The employees were kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The cashier was especially sweet, she asked if it was our first time there, gave us suggestions, and let us know which drinks were their most popular, which I thought was a really nice touch. Big space, super cute decor, tons of outlets and seating so it is basically my new work-from-here spot once the kids are at school. The girl at the register seemed a little unsure and kept checking with the barista, and the barista wasn't super warm about it, but hey, new staff, growing pains. The girl at the counter didn't know what type of creamers they carried and when she asked the shaved head barista, she scoffed at her and it just kinda made me feel bad as the customer. I will say- our pistachio latte was very sweet the hazelnut latte was perfect, not too sweet. A little pricey, but honestly not worse than anywhere else charging $6-7 these days. When you walk into this spacious, modern coffee spot, I am impressed with the amount of room to sit and enjoy a cup of Joe. There is a beautiful fountain outside with a nice covered umbrella seating outdoors and plenty of cozy spots inside to sit . I had ordered a ordered a Mexican Mocha coffee. It was nicely done with a sprinkling of cinnamon in the coffee and on the foam. The flavors were rich. I tried the strawberry tres leches muffin, which was decent. It was moist, but not a lot of strawberry forward flavor. I would have enjoyed it a bit more if there was more strawberry throughout the muffin. It would also have been better if there were other choices beside the muffins and croissants. Perhaps, a sausage biscuit, egg bites or a spinach cheese wrap. The service was quick, accurate and accommodating. The drive-thru line is quite roomy and an employee was outside assisting with orders. I very much enjoyed my experience here. read more

Finally got around to try this location! I have it before when I am driving by LA or heading to my hometown in Santa Barbara area. It's my favorite pit stop. I was so happy to hear that one was opening in San Diego county, however it's a little to far for my to get to being I live in downtown SD. Hoping for a closer one in the future. We stopped for coffee and pastry. The service was fast and efficient. The coffee shop has a drive thru and inside dining with lots of area to siordered flan frappe which was good and aesthetically pleasing with the caramel dressing on the whip cream. My sister ordered Mazapán peanut cream frappe. We ordered a chocolate tres leche and she ordered a guava cream cheese pastry. The mazapán was delicious according to my sister, and if you like the taste of peanut butter definitely get it. I enjoyed how I could taste the sweet from the flan and the bitterness of the espresso. Both pastry were delicious. The tres leche one I wish I didn't get warmed up but can rate the milk in it. Will love to be able to come back to get more drinks in the future. read more

We arrived on a Friday morning for a few of their coffee drinks, lemonade, and a tres leches muffin. If you are looking for a variety of milk options then you might be disappointed because they only offer oat milk and regular milk for your drinks. I wish they would offer coconut milk as a healthier option but I opted for the whole milk which tends to upset my stomach if I have too much and I wouldn't dare touch oat milk. The pistachio cold brew I ordered was good but a bit on the sweet side for me. We also got a Mexican mocha coffee iced and it was good but nothing great as with the tres leches muffin. We also ordered a lemonade but tasted a bit watery and could have used more lemons. Our cashier was friendly and our wait time at the drive thru was only few minutes long. Menu has nice variety, and while the traffic is cumbersome it makes sense to have a drive thru coffee chain in that location. The bad: we waited a long time for our two lattes to be made. We were the only customers inside and there were 6 employees standing around. When we ordered, there were no cars in the drive thru. While waiting for our coffees, we watched the employees complete the orders for 5+ cars that drove by...like what?? Overall good option if you're passing through but Oceanside has plenty of locally-owned coffee shops that are better. read more

The location is still extremely packed, and trying to pull into the driveway is very frustrating. Business vehicles often block both the passing lane and the drive-thru. Clearer signage marking both pathways would greatly help drivers get into the correct lane and prevent traffic congestion. Inside, the store is clean and has a vibrant atmosphere. However, for such a long line, there was only one register open. Having a second register operating would likely help move customers through more efficiently. After placing my order, I approached the counter and gave my name. The barista continued making other drinks without acknowledging me. When this place open the area it is in is very dangerous. Heavy traffic. Not knowing if someone is in line for coffee or thinking there's traffic to get on the 5 North. One day saw the line was short so I hopped in quick. Took about 15-20 mins to get my order. Horchata Frappe: 9/10 I love horchata drinks & this in a frappe was AMAZING! Dulce De Leche Frappe: boyfriend said 9/10 he said it was better in a frappe style. (2) Tres Leche Muffins: 6/10.... Only because my boyfriend did not get a Tres Leche he got what he said more like a corn bread...? I took a bite and it was definitely not Tres Leche. Mine was a Tres Leche muffin and it was very good but VERY STICKY. I have been watching this shop develop over the months and could not wait to try it out. I went on the Grand Opening and YIKES!!! it was a hot mess. I couldn't believe the line and chaos went on until late in the night! Parking was very limited and one way! It did look like they were giving away something free but nope!! My coffee was good but I will be back when it a calmer and easier to get in and out of! There seemed to be high school kids there and the traffic is going to more crazy then it already is there! I had to get going to work and asked the cashier how long the wait was she said about 10-15 min or so. I decided to wait it out. The clock was ticking, I noticed people who were there before me still had t had their drinks which was a bad sign. I went to the end and asked the barista how much longer for my drink. He said there were other orders in front of mine. I told him I had to go get ready for work and could come back. I asked him to hold my drink he agreed and claimed my drink would be ready when I got there. NOPE after fighting my way through the crowd I was irritated when another employee said they threw it out since it had been sitting there so long. bruh. I told them I have a commute for work and had to go. The original guy I spoke to said he could make my drink in 30 seconds. I was hesitant to wait but he came through. I had the pistachio cold brew and it was pretty good. I know they are just getting started but what a bad first impression. Oh where do I start... First off, whoever approved this location clearly has never tried to turn in that area. The traffic design alone deserves its own one-star review. Nothing like sitting in unnecessary gridlock just to grab a "quick" coffee. My wife and I decided to give the place a fair shot and ordered a few different drinks and food options so we could really sample the menu. Bold strategy. Unfortunately, everything landed solidly in the "meh" category. Not terrible... just aggressively average. To be fair, the girls working outside were friendly and doing their best. You can tell they're hustling. But it's also painfully obvious that management didn't quite think through the logistics. Long wait, scattered flow, and all that buildup for a drink that tastes like it came from a corporate focus group instead of a coffee bar. Hopefully they'll iron things out over time. Right now it feels like just another shiny corporate box dropped into Oceanside, nudging out the small businesses that actually know what they're doing. As of today? I Can't recommend it. Dog parents, be aware: this location charges $1 for a pup cup. My frustration wasn't necessarily with the charge itself, but with the inconsistent communication from the staff. The first time I asked for a pup cup, an employee told me there would be a charge, so I declined. However, during my next two visits through the drive-thru, employees noticed my dog and offered a pup cup. When I asked if there was a charge, I was told no, so I accepted. On my most recent visit, I ordered a pup cup and was not informed there would be a charge. When my total seemed higher than expected, I asked for a receipt and discovered I had been charged $1 for the pup cup. I explained to the employee that I thought they were complimentary based on my previous experiences. She apologized and said they do charge for them, but appeared confused when I explained that I had received them for free on prior visits. She then called over her supervisor. The supervisor apologized and said he would address the issue with the staff, confirming that pup cups are supposed to cost $1. I expressed that the bigger issue was the lack of consistency and communication among employees. Some staff members say they're free, others charge for them, and on this visit I wasn't informed of the charge before ordering. In addition, staff should clearly inform customers upfront that there is a charge for a pup cup before adding it to an order. Had I been told there was a fee, I could have decided whether or not I wanted it. Transparency about pricing helps avoid confusion and creates a better customer experience. While the supervisor did offer a refund, there were several cars waiting behind me in the drive-thru, so I declined. My recommendation is simply for management to ensure all staff members are communicating the same policy and informing customers of any charges before completing the transaction. Consistency and transparency go a long way in creating a positive customer experience. read more
