We love trying new local coffee shops, and decided to pop into the Vista Bean on a Monday afternoon. Lots of parking here, the interior of the space is airy and bright with lots of natural lighting and many tables. It would be a good place to sit and get a few hours of work done. however, only a few tables have access to a socket so keep that in mind . They also have a fun little assortment of items you can shop for, including handwoven baskets, coffee paraphernalia, and other merchandise. They have pastries and prepackaged snacks, some of which were gluten-free, which is always appreciated. I got a iced strawberry Matcha, and it was very good. They use ceremonial grade Matcha and a yummy strawberry jam/purée spread. It takes a little bit to mix it into the iced Matcha, but once you blend it in there, as I did, it was really tasty. I looove that their coffee is organically farmed and processed in Uganda, then locally roasted in Vista, CA with a simple mission, "Love Coffee. Love People More". I'm all about spreading some LOVIN'. It's greaaat that Vista Bean is passionate about connecting people. When I walked in for my first time, the coffee shop was bright and spacious with positive vibes. The staff were really helpful when I had questions. I left satisfied with my latte. The sweetness was pretty balanced which is not the typical case for me. I was open to it and can't wait to go back to try something new. We came in to try out their coffee. The menu is small for food (pastries) but a decent size listing for coffee. You can add syrups to your liking. There is one register running so be patient. My husband ordered the drip and I had a decaf americano. Additional costs to adding syrups and alternative milks. Coffee was good. Ethically sourced. Another must try coffee shop in Oceanside! This place is pretty big and has a nice size parking lot. It is a little difficult driving into the parking lot since it is so close to the on ramp to get on the 78 and the 15 south. We went around noon and we had to do a couple loops before there was not traffic blocking the entrance. Oh and we were coming from the 78. If coming from the coast, it should be a lot better. Even though there was ample parking, it was full. Hunters steakhouse is next door and I kinda got the feeling that the coffee shops lot is being used as overflow. There wasnt too many people inside. I love when coffee shops have seasonal drinks on top of their regular coffee. I got the honey bunches of oats latte with oat milk which was made of marshmellow and praline flavors. My husband got the maple pancake cold brew along with regular drip coffee. It was all so delicious. The drip coffee didn't even need sweetener! The ambience was nice. Tried this spot after our Oceanside pier walk. Easy to get to from our direction coming north, don't know how you'd manage it getting off the highway. Plenty of parking, this took over the old bike store. Highlight was the vegan pastries, loved the artichoke pastry. Tried the iced vista mule, which was coffee with cinnamon and a dash of Tapatio. Weird, not terrible, will probably go with a latte next time. I hope some outdoor tables and seating are added, there's definitely space for it, would help for larger (4-5) groups as well. Service was super nice, answered all my questions, and were able to use my reusable coffee mug. read more

Another coffee shop that I've been driving by forever and finally my husband and I decided to stop in on our way to downtown SD. So happy we went! They have a great parking lot, so it's pretty easy to get in and out of, and they have a great amount of indoor seating. Perfect place to study, meet up with friends and family, or work for a few hours. As soon as I saw ceremonial grade matcha on the menu, I knew what I had to order. I ordered their ceremonial iced matcha with lavender syrup and almond milk and it was perfect! I could drink this all day long as they did a fantastic job. My husband ordered a hazelnut latte and my goodness it was delicious. I love a great balance in a drink, usually not too sweet but not bitter either, and his hazelnut latte was just the right balance. I was honestly amazed at how good it was. He claimed it's the best latte he's had in years. Both of our drinks were so good! I noticed they had some gf/vegan options of pastries too. As soon as I saw the blueberry lemon scone, I knew I needed to try it. It looked as good as it tastes! I loved it, and it's not noticeable as being gf/vegan when tasting it/the texture of it, but if you aren't used to gf/vegan baked goods, you may notice the slight difference. The interior design is modern and inviting. The staff was friendly. I tried their cortado and their Mexican Hot Chocolate. The cortado was up there as far as taste. I loved it. The Mexican Hot Chocolate was unique as they use cayenne pepper. I thought it was nice that the staff member let me know it was spicy to make sure it was something I would actually like. I love spicy flavors, and really enjoyed it. The portions are fair, and I looked at their coffee bean bags, I felt they were comparable to other coffee shops I've frequented as well. Lots of drink and food choices. Great open space with plenty of seats and tables to hang out comfortably. Cold brew on nitro is what got me in the door and it tasted delicious. I did NOT enjoy ice being added since it kind of broke down the creaminess of the nitro and watered down the coffee as time went on. Getting in and out of the parking lot can be tricky because if you go too far the last driveway is blocked off to prevent traffic mishaps with the freeways, so just make sure you don't go too far. read more

I've worked in coffee for over 5 years and hands down one of the best coffee shops I've been too in the area. I go here every time I drive back to Ventura from San Diego. Calm ambiance with a lot of windows and natural light. Ideal for studying, reading, etc. The only tricky part is the location, which is on the street leading to the I-5 onramp, so you need to have some patience to maneuver traffic going to the freeway as you enter and leave the parking lot. Service was warm and welcoming, and I always want to support a cafe that puts people and quality coffee at the center of its identity. That said, I had high hopes for this new third wave-style roastery and was a bit let down by the execution of the cappuccino I ordered. I went with the 8 oz cappuccino, hoping for a balanced cup where the espresso and milk could shine in harmony. Unfortunately, the milk was served well below optimal temperature--closer to lukewarm than warm--and lacked the textural nuance that comes from properly steamed microfoam. Instead of a silky, free-poured cap, the drink was topped with scooped foam, resulting in a bone-dry texture and none of that smooth, velvety first sip that makes a well-crafted cappuccino sing. More noticeably, the espresso was lost in the milk. Even in an 8 oz ratio, I couldn't pick up much of the character of the shot--whether due to under-extraction, roast profile, or simply the dry foam overwhelming the cup. That said, I appreciate what this space is going for--clearly a focus on origin-forward beans and a slow bar approach.
