View towards the ocean from the third floor
    Lenny J.

Stayed here for a family wedding back in Mid June. We were on the marsh side and not the ocean side so we didn't have great views. Out of our room you saw all of the marshlands and if you looked between the buildings across the way (neck craning required) you would see the ocean. We had a two bedroom suite, that comes with a kitchenette and a common room with a small table and couch and loveseat. There are TV's in the common room and the "master" bedroom. There is also a bathroom off the common room. If you are an "Out all day" person you may find comfort here. After all, once you put your head down and close your eyes, one hotel room is much like any other. However if you are like ma and spend some waking hours inside away from the mid day sun, then this is not your ideal place. The furniture in the common room is drab, old and mostly out of shape. Couch cushions were flat and the coffee table struck me as a $69 Ikea special. The beds are also discount mattress store specials. You'll feel each spring as you tuck in for the night. In our Master bedroom the TV was out of service and multiple calls to the front desk didn't remedy this issue prior to the end of out three night stay. They advertise WIFI but good luck getting signal. Out room was no more that 100 feet form the outdoor mounted access points and signal was only available near the door to our room. At the end of our stay I asked for an accommodation for the non-working TV. The young lady at the front desk said she would have to pass it on to the manager and that they would call me back when she arrived. In the end I never got a call or any credit back to my CC. Overall I was not impressed and can't imagine a scenario where I return for another stay.

    Junior suite room 112.

My spouse & I took our dog to stay in a pet-friendly junior suite recently & had a good experience. The room was clean & we had our own balcony where our small dog could stand & look around. Only a couple of things could have been improved. The kitchen didn't have any coffee filters, so when my husband went to get coffee, he couldn't make any. Also, the chairs in the room had old stains on them. Some new furniture would spruce up the room. One last thing, the bed was really uncomfortable. A newer softer beef would be great. I hope this doesn't sound too negative. It's merely meant as constructive criticism. Overall, we had a great time.

I had stayed here on a previous occasion and my stay was ok. This time it was horrible. When we arrived at the room it smelled awful. The fire alarm was ripped off the wall and laying on a counter. The stove had a light on saying that it was heating even when turned off. Dish drainer was in sink and filthy. Stains on sheets along with someone's hair. The shower had mildew and mold growing on the curtain. I went back to the office to let them know that I was not happy with the condition of the room and all I received was an I'm sorry. I asked if we could switch rooms and was told no. I then asked if we could switch to the room I had previously stay in and was quoted a price that was $50 more per night than what was advertised. When I asked why there was a price difference I was told it's what the computer charges. After I continued to question this the only response I received was I'm sorry. I did ask to speak to a manager and the girl at the desk said I'll get her to call you. Three days later still have not heard from the manager even after repeated calls. One has to wonder why their is a sign in the office that says no refunds after check in. This should have been the first clue that customer service is not their strong point. Please save your money and spend it at an establishment that appreciates their customers.

Human excrement and trash to entrance of closed pool

Tiffany's looks alright online, but in person it is not for the weak. Only one pool is open with trash overflowing outside of the pool area. There is trash stacked 3 feet high with blood covered clothing laying beside it in front of the motel. The elevators are filthy with the smell of urine. The pool that is closed is green with trash floating throughout it. The entrance to the closed pool Is blocked by a wet couch and covered in flies. And if that is not bad enough for you there in literal human feces and used diapers along with bags of trash at the entrance. When we checked into our room there was used qtips on the night stand along with dirty towels in the bathroom floor.

    Crap air conditioning
    Steve R.

Dirty floor, crappy air conditioning window unit that does not cool the room adequately. There was a constant bump, rattle and noise from the hard floors in the room above, like romper room with a bunch of primates. This place sucks.

CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT…read more I so badly wish that I could leave a 5-star review for the Island Inn! We really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect, room was clean, beds comfortable, and coffee maker hot. Unfortunately, after returning home from our great weekend trip I found that my credit card had been overcharged for the balance of the room ...by quite a lot. Thinking it was a simple mistake that could be fixed, I called right away on Monday morning and spoke to someone who took my info and said I would get a call back. She also advised me to email over my original booking receipt that showed my total. I did so. Over the next week I called and left messages two more times, emailed again, and reached out on social media. I got an immediate response on social media that someone would call me back as soon as possible. It has been days, and still nothing. I am absolutely baffled about why no one will talk to me about this overcharge. The real bummer is that we enjoyed our stay so much, we were already talking about returning next year. Now there is no way I would trust this company with my financial info ever again. Scrolling through reviews from the past few weeks, I can see I am not the only person this has happened to.

However, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing and unsettling due to an encounter with the manager's husband, Joseph Griffin. Over the years, we've heard stories from others about Joseph being aggressive and hostile toward guests, but we had never experienced it firsthand -- until now. During this stay, I was in the room asleep with my 3-year-old while my husband walked to the nearby Dollar General. A friend of mine, who I didn't even know was stopping by, came up the outdoor stairs with her dog to knock on our door, unaware that pets aren't allowed upstairs. The manager, Nell Griffin, came out and politely let her know that dogs were not allowed on the upper level. My friend apologized and immediately began walking the dog back downstairs. That should have been the end of it -- but then Joseph came out and began yelling at her very aggressively. Her father, who was with her, tried to calm things down, but Joseph continued to escalate the situation. As they left, he took down their license plate number. Soon after, Joseph came up to our room, yelling that we were being evicted and charged a $350 cleaning fee -- despite the fact that no dog ever entered our room, and I was asleep the entire time with my child. My husband wasn't even on the property when it happened. We tried to calmly explain that we didn't know what was going on, but Joseph refused to listen and told us to leave with no refund. When my husband returned, he spoke with Nell, who was much more professional and understanding. After explaining the situation, she allowed us to stay. Still, the experience left me feeling unsafe and uncomfortable, especially being alone with my 3-year-old while my husband was away fishing. I wanted to speak to Nell about how upsetting the situation had been, but I didn't feel safe raising the issue further out of fear Joseph might escalate things again or involve the police. This entire situation was blown way out of proportion by Joseph, after Nell had already handled it respectfully. His behavior was aggressive, unnecessary, and unprofessional -- and it made us seriously question whether we'll return to a place we've stayed at loyally for years. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with the property owners directly, either by phone or email, to discuss how this situation will be addressed and hopefully rectified.

I totally agree with the most recent published review (6/2025). I lived on Topsail Island twice…read moreover the years, always noticed the Loggerhead Inn but hadn't stayed at any short-term place until this week. I don't care for the chain brands, but they're easy to avoid on the island as there ARE none : ) I can say that current pictures on the website are totally accurate. I also don't doubt the experiences posted years ago, because when I was singing the Loggerhead's praises to a staff member during my recent stay, she said that current management has worked hard to upgrade and update the place, that "It used to be somewhat of a dive" (her words). I absolutely can say that's no longer the case! Though I don't care for the visual sterility of the "chains," I'm pretty much anal about cleanliness. The Loggerhead has that in spades. I don't even take anything into any room before pulling up sheets to check mattress seams for evidence of bedbugs! (Yes, anal I know, but has been to my benefit in the past - at a "chain" place.) My room was squeaky clean, including towels, bathroom, floors, and bedding. Moreover, the cleaning staff appears to take pride in their work. My room was extremely clean and quite comfortable. The walk from my room to the beach access was shorter than some walks in a Walmart parking lot. But 2 nitpicky features stood out to me. (1) It has been my experience in other places that management leaves NO electrical outlet accessible to guests, that it isn't even possible to charge a phone without unplugging something, often from an outlet behind furniture. I took a power strip with me this time, only to discover that my Loggerhead room had FOUR totally unused and fully accessible outlets for guest use. (2) I've also often lamented not having brought paper towels with me, so I had a roll in the car for this trip. Yep, found a roll in the room when I arrived. Also, I had some remote work to do during my stay and found the wifi service to be flawless. The Loggerhead isn't totally transparent in its pricing - added about a 36% "service charge" to its published room rate - but total price is reasonable and competitive in the November off season and in line with other Topsail independents. So no harm no foul, but also no absurdly low price touted on the website. I have to go back to the area in a month. I'll be staying at the Loggerhead again and looking forward to it.

The gate was stuck and could not be opened after numerous tries. We went back through the shop and had to listen to him tell us we had not tried hard enough. The 5th star is withheld due to this gentleman's attitude with the public. The pier is wonderful. It is very well maintained and obviously popular among the local fishermen and fisherwomen. There were many stations to cut, filet and clean one's catch. A plethora of benches line the pier for seating. A ruler is present at the end of the pier to measure fish, and QR codes are posted to order lunch from the attached restaurant. A large observation tower sits at the end of the pier.
