Nice interaction when picking food up. Ordered chicken tandoori. They really shouldn't call it that. It was obvious if you have real authentic indian food that this was not it. There was more type of rub on the chicken. The chicken was not cooked properly as tandoori. It was generally good tasting though but not was I paid for. Completely different sone other kind of dish. First time here. We came for lunch on a weekday and were seated right away. Ordered vegetable samosa, baingan bharta. Malai kofta, and peshawari Naan. Loved it! Presentation was nice, especially the samosa. Loved that the Kofta was soft. The baingan Bharta had a nice smoky taste once you put it in your mouth and as it dissolves, both dishes leave a nice spiced herby taste. The sauces were great. A lot of places make it so salty but this was just right. Gotta be a new favorite of ours. read more

I am (was) a regular customer of the Tiffin in Newtown Square. I placed an online order for 1130 pickup at this Tiffin. I chose that time because that's when I was out and about near Tiffin. When I showed up at 1135, the restaurant was dark and there was no employees at the restaurant and the door was locked. On the door of Tiffin it says it opens at 11. When you place an order online on their site it says Tiffin opens at 11. So then at 1pm Tiffin calls and asks me why I didn't pick up my order. I told him to cancel it since I was not near Tiffin and longer and had already had lunch. He kept asking me why I don't come pick up the order and I repeat. He asks me why I didn't cancel the order online - I let him know the Tiffin website doesn't provide for that. He told me to cancel the order I needed to call Tiffin online - do what again? I have ordered from this restaurant at least 30 times - and now they mess up and are going to charge me? Update: Manager contact me within 2 days to 'make things right'. read more

This is an amazing restaurant. The food is delicious. We particularly like the cauliflower bezule, which we've not found anywhere else. I love all the curry dishes which my husband is more of a tandoor man. Service is excellent, too. Our favorite Indian restaurant to date. read more

Tried for the first time yesterday. My partner thinks its the best Indian in the area. Im reserving my judgment in that. We had the Dal Tadka, Baingan Bharta and Vegetable Kadai. What I liked is that the person on the phone, although not the most friendly, accomodated our Vegan Gluten free requirements. I also asked for mild. The Kadai seemed a little spicier than I liked but passable. The menu is great as it tells you what dish is Vegetarian and Gluten Free. It also mentions that they can make Vegan. 5 stars for that alone. The rice was Vegan! Yaay! For some reason Shere Punjab cannot make their rice Vegan so theyve permanently lost our business. My partner likes Tiffin better anyway. Price is a little high for the food quantity but if you can make the food Vegan And GF and I dont have to drive too far, Ill pay. read more

Letter sent to corporate- My concerns are: 1. quality and flavor is not the same as it once was. Possibly my local Tiffin has a new chef, but my wife and I both noticed some of the flavor is gone. 2. We are used to the fact that when ordering a dish with a meat, Tiffin gives very little but its become absurd how little is given compared to the cost. 3. For Chicken Tika Masala at apx $17 you get a few small bites of chicken LOADED with sauce and a HUGE amount of white rice. I work in marketing, I understand business tactics. I'm fine with paying more (everything has gone up in price) but this is ridiculous. 4. For $14 you get chick peas with sauce (EXPENSIVE) 5. For almost $5 you ONLY 1 piece of Naan. That's insane for a thin slice of bread!! I'm really not here to complain, but rather advise. Better than other tiffin locations I've tried. Food seems fresher and always enjoyable. In Newtown Sq where good food choices are limited, tiffin was a welcome addition a couple years ago. Have tried many of their offerings and never had a bad meal. Good biryani, curries, apps, etc. Only negative is that they never have a lunch delivery driver anymore and as a result, in a busy office we can't order. Highly suggest offering traditional delivery at lunch again...you are missing a lot of customers without. Would have given you 5 stars otherwise but since we can't leave work to get food at lunch, i can't do it as i rarely get to eat here as a result. read more

Was spicy when I asked for not spicy, a lot of the ends of vegetables weren't cut off so the stalky parts were included. The naan bread was flat, tasted like it was bought at a grocery store and not freshly made. Had never tried this or any other Tiffin location before. My comparisons would be with Spice (in Edgemont) and Shere-E-Punjab in Media and Drexel Hill. So, when in a mood for Indian, I thought I'd try something new. The restaurant itself is at the end of the strip mall. Upon entering, it looked clean and casual. I would rate it as less formal than Spice, and closer to Sheree-e-punjab. The Staff was very friendly. The sign on the door asked to wear a mask. Which we did when not eating. The layout looks like it is mostly used for takeout, and they did a lot of takeout orders. But if you are sitting down, there is menu service at the table. The food took a little while, probably longer than I've waited on average for Indian food, but not too long at all. For starters I had Onion Bhaji, which was deliciously cooked. The Spinach and onion complemented each other perfectly. The Garlic Naan was also excellent. For My Entree I had the Lamb Biryani. I went with a mid-level spice and it was perfect. The meat was tender, the seasoning sublime, and the rice was there when i wanted a break from so much flavor. Others in my party got the Butter Chicken and tandoori shrimp. All were delicious and perfectly executed. Overall, will definitely return. Food was great, service was excellent, the facility is neat and clean, if not fancy, and the prices are reasonable ($12-$16 for most entrees). read more

We've been here a few time and previously, their saag paneer was good. So we returned but both of our dishes were coated in the same red sauce -- and they were classic Indian dishes that we've had a thousand times elsewhere and it never like this. We went on a Sunday for family dinner, reached at the restaurant at 8.30 pm. Closing time on google was 9.30pm, closing time on the door was mentioned at 10pm. Despite being reasonably on time we were refused to dine in or take out. We had kids and elderly with us who were turned away unapologetically in a very rude manner. I've been trying to be a vegan for last 3 weeks but since I was traveling and saw some good reviews about this place, so I decided to cheat. I ordered pepper fish and tandoori boti kebab over the phone. The description on the menu says "traditional clay oven". I went to pick it and they were working on it which is fine since I arrived early but they were using electric/gas oven and I did not see tandoor anywhere. I brought the food to my room and started eating it. The fish was very bland except for chunks of whole black pepper. The boti kebab was over done and super dry, it was boneless and felt like made out of minced meat. It was rubbery and so hard to chew that I ended up throwing it away. I was gonna make this as my place to go for my travel to philly but then with this level of disappointment I probably won't return anytime sooner. read more

The whole order was entered ($90 worth of food) and it would not go to the payment page (there was over an hour before the restaurant closed so plenty of time). Tried reloading so called the restaurant to place the order. Explained what happened and started to place the order over the phone. They would not honor the discount on the Samosas (it was the special) because that was only good online. We have been going to Tiffin ever since it first opened in Philadelphia and were disappointed when their high end branch, Tashan, closed. The Newtown Square branch, which we frequent at least once a week, continues Tiffin's high standard of Indian cooking. The food is reliably good across the whole menu. In particular the Kerala Pepper Lamb and Chicken provide a unique combination of spices not offered in most Indian restaurants. The staff from the manager to the head chef couldn't be more accommodating and can't do enough to please you. We are fortunate that our preferred Indian restaurant also happens to be our closest. read more

I've been here thrice and this is one of the nice and trendy indian cuisines I have ever seen. Food is very tasty and they have a lot of variety and not very regular items that you get in indian restaurants. They stand apart. Best indian dining in and around NSQ. Very nice and friendly staff. We went kinda late after 10 pm and there was not a bit of worry in their face. Very warm and did their best to make our visit worthy. Highly recommend this! I found this restaurant online where they just started brunch only for weekend ...weekdays are regular menus. The restaurant also has an outdoor sitting for fairer weather which is great ! food was excellent so fresh and delicious. Do not order on Monday. Used a $5 Monday special discount and an additional $25 in T-coins (discounts you accumulate every time you spend money through an online Tiffin account) so that my $60 purchase was actually half off at $30. Turned out I also got half off on the spices. Curries were very very bland. Tasted heavily diluted as though they decided to heavily cut back on the amount of spices they normally use. Maybe also barely any ground nuts (almonds/cashews). Not sure if I am ordering there ever again, that is how so disappointed we were. And do not order the onion naan. Truly terrible.
