Very good service and communication. Honest. They serviced my 2004 XC90 was honest with the issues I had and told me in their opinion what needed to be service first, second and so on. As long as I have this Volvo it will be repaired here. Don't go to the dealer they will rip you off. Don't go to any mechanic shop that doesn't know Volvo they will mess up your car. I went to this place on a whim to do my emissions test rather than driving to Sherwood. They charge $15 (most other are $30, I believe). I went there without an appointment and was able to get it taken care of right away. Two women did the emissions test (which is awesome to me as a woman and not something I am used to seeing). If you are a current customer, you don't pay anything for the test. If you return as a customer, they will deduct the $15 from your next bill. Staff are friendly and professional, and they have a cute senior poodle in a sweater in the office to greet you. I highly recommend. read more

I Have been going here since the spring of 2013. My Volvo hit 110,000 miles and I have had a lot of repairs and upgrades to be made. I was researching car repair for volvos, and doing research on good places to take my car. Overall, I would say that the main repairman, Raymond, is an excellent repairman and that they also have the cutest toy poodle in all of Portland. The poodle greets customers with love and affection, and it is a joy seeing their dog. Raymond has always been reliable, smart, helpful, and honest. I believe in his work and services. However, I have had a few minor issues, so my rating is 4 instead of a 5. Car repair can be tricky-I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, so 4 stars is a good deal. Here are some things though to take note on. I found a coupon on google offers for new customers, which the manager would not offer, and made a big deal about it being "fake" - when in fact it was their address and information on the coupon. Since I had a lot of work done though, Raymond did negotiate with me and even if the 10% google offer was not honored, it felt like it almost was. Over thr year, I did spend over $1600 on repairs with them, and they were overall, alright and good. They did a transmission flush, and fixed a variety of other issues with maintenance and repair. Raymond the Main repair guy, is always nice and friendly when I see him. I had an experience this month though that made me go through a few hoops. I brought my car in again recently because my front head light was not working after changing the bulb. The good news is that I think they may have fixed the problem which was worth bringing it in. I brought my car in, and they told me that a internal fuse box was fried, and that they would order a new part for it. The estimate was $150-250. My contract job just ended, and I am watching my budget. Being currently unemployed, I wasn't happy about this added expense, but I told them to order the part since I didn't want a non-working headlight. They order the part, but then I realize that my headlight is working. There must have been a kinked wire or a disconnect that they fixed without knowing. Well, I bring my car in again for a serial number check verification, and they even tell me it looks good, but they told me they would still order the part claiming that the fuse box could still fizzle and bomb. So they order it. What they didn't tell me is that this used part is $425 instead of $150-250. They do tell me that it is that expensive prior to my appointment, but they already have ordered the part at the higher price. Karen, the office manager, explains how it was a different model number for a different year that is why this used part jumped up so much. I am freaking out. I spoke with the co-owner, Regina, and explained how my light was working, how the cost for the replacement was really a shock, and how I probably would not want to invest my time or money on replacing it. She told me not to worry, that there would be a $25 re-stocking fee, but that they would wait 2-3 weeks for that just in case my car has the problem again and needs the repair. Turns out, knock on wood, that my headlight is still now alright a few weeks later. They called me twice yesterday with voicemails that I could not get to, and I assumed it was for the $25 restocking fee. I was ready to pay it. The office manager calls me back though, and instead of $25 it is $50. That's when I got upset and disappointed. Two times in one month and the prices quoted had doubled. I finally negotiated with them to bring it down to the $25 they told me I needed to pay. I spent 15 minutes pleading my case, and giving them my story. I told them that I was only going to give them a 2 or 3 star review on Yelp due to the price changes. The Good news is, while I am writing this, they did call and say that they negotiated the return fees with the distributor, and consulted with one another, and waived the fee completely. I felt so happy and relieved. I guess explaining a situation and letting a company know t the power of yelp, really did pay off in the long run. I have taken my old 240 there until its last days and my 850 and now my old v70. I think it has been around 20 years of using these great folks. I have tried other closer mechanics for oil changes, but if I use the local for anything more advanced, I will be disappointed. Fortunately, Ray will find the mistakes of other mechanics. The only drawback for me is the long drive to Tigard from Forest Grove. I wish that they were closer. I had a great experience with T-Scandia. I went in to just have an SRS light reset. After resetting my light, they called me at work to let me know that I was low on oil and that they could preform a quick oil change before I even picked up my car. Since I had just bought the car from a friend, I was unsure on when I needed my next oil change, what type to use, etc, but the T-Scandia team figured it all out. Now here is the kicker... I was running a little late to pick up my car at the end of the day. I called ahead to the service desk and explained my situation. Not only were they super easy in helping me figure out a payment plan that we could both be happy with, but they were even still there to make sure that I was able to get my car. All around a wonderful experience. T-Scandia came highly recommended to me by a former teacher and I would recommend them to any other Saab or Volvo driver. read more

Raymond is the best. I'm writing a review from a service done about 15 years ago. Just following up in the internet age where reviews are key info source. I'm totally versed in the cars TScandia services (Volvos+Subies) and can see the wisdom in their approach. Brought my 2001 Volvo V70 T5 to Raymond for 30k interval service. TScandia did more work than the dealer for 1/2 of the price. They also seem to go by actual time rathe than book time (Volvo published time for each job which any expert can do faster) which dealer and many shops go by. TScandia did a drain and fill on the ATF with the 30k service (dealers don't do but its a must on this transmission) which is the perfect balance of preventive maintenance for the lowest cost. It replaces about 1/2 of the ATF with a relatively quick procedure. Full replacement is much more time consuming and unnecessary if keep up this practical solution every 30k miles. Also had a strut mount that Raymond personally did in like 30min for like $50 and no alignment necessary afterwards given how the suspension is setup on this car. Raymond is a total pro, efficient and honest. Shop owner with pride and care for customers. Totally shows. No wonder everyone has had such a great experience at TScandia. read more

This is a very friendly place. However, I will not take my car here again. I had a clutch problem and a squeaky pedal, I wanted fixed but I ended up with 5 visits and $2,300 dollar shorter and back to square one. Very frustrating and annoying. I visited another shop and they fixed the problem and NO squeaky pedal and a pedal that releases properly. read more

Wow, what an experience! After faithfully (not sure why) going to the Volvo dealer in Portland for many years, and after having one more bad experience last weekend, we decided to take our Volvo XC70 to T-Scandia on the recommendation of a long-time customer/old friend. Being an auto-repair guy, I expect a certain level of communication from the company repairing my car. I was so impressed with the communication from this business! I left the car over the weekend, so Monday morning right after they opened, I got a phone call letting me know they got the car and the note and they would get to the car as soon as they could. A few hours later, I get a call from the technician who has diagnosed the problem and found a few other things that should be fixed. Then, a few hours later, I get a call saying the car is ready and we can pay over the phone and pick up after hours again. Talk about convenience, communication, easy to do business! I have been a happy T Scandia customer for over 20 years and have always trusted Raymond and the team at T Scandia to provide excellent service at a fair price. I keep buying Volvos because I don't want to go to any other mechanic. I sold my last Volvo to a college student after having had it for 130k miles. Four years later, that student's mom thanked me for taking great care of the car for her son to have throughout college. The credit goes to T Scandia on that. I admit I live close by so that was one factor for bringing my car in. Second factor I got tired of being toyed with dealing with Les Schwab(not a good experience but thats a whole other can of worms). I had an issue with my old green machine 9-5 wagon and was done with people who where not familiar with Saab's. Yes they are cars and yes they have similarities like humans have arms and legs but not all doctors and not all mechanics some only patch the ailment others can cure the disease! Well let me say this the staff at T-Scandia are friendlier than one would get walking into a stealership or local chain (i.e. Les Scwab/Tires Direct etc), very polite and willing to go the extra mile. Their master tech Ben went the extra mile trying to resolve a front end vibration on my car going thru the front end and having to replace some damaged/really worn parts one of which was done by another mechanic a few months prior! The service including picking me up to retrieve my car once it was road ready to following up to see if all was well a few days later was top notch. For a first time experience I have nothing but good things to say. I was not paid to write this nor was I given "free-be's" this is an honest opinion by someone who/s owned a few Saab's and Volvo's and dealt with crap mechanics with ego's one too many times. had my volvo wagon worked on first time there for alarm problem, then they sold me front brake lines they said cracked. I had them replaced, was waiting for price quote, didnt get one just large bill, they tried to sell me oil change and timing belt. I just changed about 1000mi ago with water pump.I drive car about 500mi per year mabe, when they checked timing belt they did not loosen all bolts and cracked timing belt cover and left one bolt out, didnt replace it, picked up car with no gas empty? on way home brake light comes on! theres moe too, these guys are slob 's!!! read more

We had been taking our older (2002) Volvo to them for a couple of years. At the penultimate visit we were greeted with an invoice 400.00 more than originally quoted. We assumed that there was a misunderstanding somewhere and we paid the new total without much complaint. Three months later we were in the market for a new car, and we agreed with the dealership to trade in the Volvo for 900.00. On our way home, the car developed an oil leak. We frantically called T Scandia and they agreed to look at our car ASAP. My husband informed them of our intention to trade it in and the value that it was given by the dealership. The next day, they gave him a quote of 500.00. We begrudgingly agreed to pay, but decided that we would have to put down a cash down payment on the new car because the Volvo wouldn't be repaired for about 10 days. Four days later my husband called T Scandia to let them know he was coming by to pick up some items from the Volvo. They told him that the car was ready to go and told him that the total was 1500.00! Obviously we were shocked because we had never agreed to pay that much, and nobody called us to discuss doing additional work! My husband said that that was ridiculous and that we weren't going to pay that much.They said they needed to discuss the matter between themselves and call him back. They called him back and said that they could reduce the price to 800.00. In the meantime, my husband and I had talked about it and we agreed that we were not going to pay anything over the original 500.00. I then called them on the following Monday, and they told me a different price all together - 1100.00! When I asked them why the increase in price, they told me that they had done extra work, but work on different things than they told my husband. At this point, I stopped talking over the phone to them, because I wanted to have everything in writing. I couldn't tell if they were being extremely dishonest, or just disorganized. I asked for the work order to be emailed to me, and what I received was laughable. It was obviously completed at two separate times, with the estimate being added later. Additionally, each email I received from them told a different story. I told them that we were coming by to pick up the car on Wednesday and that we were going to pay the 500.00 we had originally agreed to pay. We we arrived, they told us several lies, they falsely increased the market value of our car, and flatly refused to give us our car back. At this point the conversation was just going around and around. I called my attorney and asked her what I should do. She asked me if she could speak to them. Asked if they would speak to my lawyer and they said, yes, but that she had to call the office. My attorney called the office and then they refused to answer the phone! I set a deadline that if I hadn't heard from them, or if my attorney hadn't heard from their attorney, by 12:00 the next day, I would proceed with legal action. Obviously, I did not want to do this, as it's a huge waste of time and effort - not to mention money. As we were leaving, one of them broached the subject of a discount. My husband and I had previously agreed between us that we were willing to pay 800.00 to end this stupidity, but they were so dishonest before I called my attorney, that I became a little stubborn. When a discount was mentioned, my husband said that was an interesting point, because they had previously offered him a discount down to 800.00, and they claimed they never had! They claimed to have discounted the price to 1100.00, which was the original total they gave me. Then, about a minute later they claimed that they had never even offered a discount a minute ago. It was surreal, so at this point we ended the conversation and left. I let my attorney deal with their antics, and they told her that the price was 1050.00, which was a number nobody had ever heard of! In the end, my attorney and their attorney agreed on 750.00. We were happy to pay it, just to finish with the stupidity and absurdity that is T. Scandia Motors. read more

Went to them after having an absolutely horrible experience at MVP Volvo where the communication was nonexistent, and the service incompetent (lied about fixing the problem when clearly they did not touch our car). T Scandia was efficient, pleasant, and communicated after they diagnosed why our Volvo wasn't starting, asked pernission to do the repair, commented on the horrible condition of the spark plugs that were missed by MVP, and even wanted to keep the car an extra night just to ensure we wouldn't encounter any other issues. They also advised us about a future repair we'd have to take care of in the next year, and provided an estimate so we could start saving as it will be a major repair for our ten year-old beloved Volvo. We appreciate honesty, service excellence, and them caring about us even though we had no prior history with them; they treated us like we had been going there for years. They even called to follow up to see if everything was ok after we had our car back for a couple of days! Call me old-fashioned, but that is what customer service is all about. We will definitely go back as we will be driving our beloved Volvo for a very long time. They are the Four Seasons of Volvo mechanics! read more

I had a terrible experience with my Saab 9000 at T Scandia. They were late, extremely unpleasant about it, and incompetent. The spark plugs they replaced were incorrect, causing a failure of a computer. Rather than return to this incompetent and abusive place, I sustained a large bill from another shop to repair the damage. It is possible that they do OK on Volvo's, but that the shop claims to have expertise in Saabs when they clearly don't. read more
