Dropped in for lunch on Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Braised Traditional Pork Belly Rice Bowl (small plate) & Char-Siu Chicken Bao. I paired up my meal with a matcha creama drink with herbal jelly. My rice bowl was pretty good. Not the best but it satisfied my hunger. The bao on the other hand was just alright. The sauce on the chicken was sticky and the chicken was cold. My drink was alright. The herbal jelly was really disappointing. The creama on the drink was good though. Amazing fusion! We have been trying to find good Asian-American fusion since moving to Washington. This place has great bao, so fluffy and flavorful, great fries, and a rice bowl with a bunch of protein options. I chose the chicken and it was moist and the sauce was tangy and delightful. I went here with a colleague for lunch and split 3 pork bao and one portion of tiger fries. First off - the pork bao here is DELICIOUS! Would highly recommend - not only is the bun extremely fluffy and pork belly juicy, but there's also a 2 bao for 10$ deal that makes it great for a delicious, quick meal. The tiger fries consist of kalbi beef, kimchi, mayo and french fries - the French fries were very crisp, and the toppings really enhance the flavor of the fries. For reference, I don't typically eat french fries - they're too salty and oily for me - but I couldn't stop eating this dish! However, I felt disappointed by the lack of these toppings - at a price of $9, I expected more beef and kimchi in this dish. We ended up finishing the toppings before we were even halfway done with the fries, so the remainder of the dish consisted merely of regular french fries. Overall, a very filling and pleasant meal. The flavors of this restaurant are unbeatable, and I'm definitely coming back again to try some of their other bao! read more

Solid 3 stars. I ordered 2 baos: Korean beef and fish filet, both were okay. Beef was a little on the dry side. Fish filet bao was ok,slightly greasy for my taste. The spicy mayo definitely gave the bao some moist. The braised pork rice was lacking flavor. The meats were so little that I felt like I was eating plain rice after the few bites. Of all ordered, I like the crispy chicken filet the best. It has good spices and was still somewhat crispy upon Chowbus delivery. Overall, I did not think any of their foods stood out among the many Taiwanese restaurants on the eastside. Always passed by while shopping at the nearby Asian grocery store but hadn't given Tiger Bites a try until now -- I'm glad I did! Ordered the popcorn chicken with rice. Came with an assortment of sides including a marinated egg, pickled cucumbers, beansprouts, celery, and tofu. Food came out quickly; chicken had good breading, was fried well, and the inside was tender and juicy. Shoutout to Rachel for her excellent service and tea-making. The brown sugar milk tea had the right amount of sweetness. The classic milk tea with grass jelly was very refreshing. Rachel kindly provided recommendations when asked. I had a pleasant experience at this place! Their classic pork buns were reasonably priced, and were delicious. Though, some may complain the buns are small, the size suited me just fine. The service was fairly good, the cashier in the front was very nice in telling me about their menu. Though, the place is self-serve in terms of how have to put your dishes away. One thing that happened, though, was they ran out of the meat that go with their fries, but they nicely substituted with popcorn chicken - free of charge! I didn't enjoy their matcha ice cream bun as much as the other items though, I didn't think the bun was sweet enough. Overall, I had a good experience though. There were three slices of pork belly on the rice and the pickled cucumber salad that came with rice bowl was really good as well. I really liked the take out plate they used for pork belly bowl. It was like a bento style instead of a bowl so rice doesn't get soggy from the meat and salad :) Brown sugar boba was very sweet so maybe I'll order less sugar next time. read more

I avoided this place for a while due to the name and description. I sounded like an Asian tapas restaurant, which is not what I was interested in. I was walking past the restaurant and saw some of the people's dishes. They weren't small plates, so I looked at the menu in the window. It looked like a decent menu so I went in for lunch. They had several small plate items along with several rice bowl items, so I ordered the pork belly bowl. I can't resist good pork belly. It was great! There were 3 large slices of pork belly with a hard boiled egg, broccoli, marinated bean sprouts, pickled cucumbers and a pickled relish. The pork belly was nearly fall off the fork tender and tasty. The vegetables were a great compliment to cut some of the grease from the pork. A great lunch! The only negative is the person at the counter seemed pre-occupied with her cell phone. Other than that, the food came out quickly. I'll go back to try other items to see if they are as good as the pork belly bowl. I highly recommend this place! read more

There wasn't enough pork belly to Bao ratio and I'm not really into the ground peanuts that covered my Bao. I probably wouldn't get this again. I was a big fan of the fries though! 3.5 Stars. Tiger Bites is really good for a quick lunch although it's a little pricy. A "free" green tea or black tea comes with your meal if you spend over 10 dollars or something like that which most of the entrees are already at that price. It's almost as if they just stuck the price of green tea or black tea onto the price and then said oh it was free. The teas are decent but maybe not as good as the ones you get at Boiling Point (probably cause they got more sugar) I've been here twice and both times for the five spiced popcorn chicken rice bowl. The popcorn chicken is cooked very well and the sides that come with the meal are not bad. One concern is that the rice seems already premade and is dry upon consumption when you start to eat but I can understand since it's to help ease the lunch rush. Also an FYI is that you have to bus your own table and there's not much seating. The baos taste a little fusiony and aren't very flavorful. This is a review of just their dessert. I felt like dessert last night after dinner and looked up late night eats. This place was open so I decided to check it out. Plus it's close to me so that made it easier. I had the Matcha ice cream and red bean bao-- an interesting combination of dessert with red bean, but it surprisingly went well together. Tiger Bites is a great spot for a quick lunch. I think the pork belly items here are the standout -- either in traditional bao form or in a rice bowl. The kalbi beef bao that I had was over-seasoned and too salty. It ended up just tasting like 100% kalbi sauce and nothing else. I also ordered the nori fries, which had very little nori flavoring and were less crispy than I would have liked. However -- the pork belly bao and rice bowl were delicious! The rice bowl by itself is definitely sufficient for one person, and maybe two if you're sharing and getting a couple other items. Daily side dishes and vegetables as well as an egg are included in the rice bowl, and the flavors go together really well. I haven't had the bubble tea myself, but have heard from others that it's pretty good. There isn't much seating here, and definitely has more of a casual feel so I think it's better suited for lunch than dinner. Not very much seating for groups. Tiger Bites is located in a strip mall, so parking is easy and plentiful. Pretty convenient location if you're looking for Taiwanese food on the Eastside with minimal wait. I love Taiwanese food but there's something about this place that couldn't get my 5 stars. This place you'll need to order the food at the register then you'll be given a number to put on your table. Drinks normally come before the food. I ordered orange chicken, minced pork with rice, cheese green tea, and ice cream black tea float. The drinks weren't sweet and the portion is good, though I've had better. The orange chicken was kind of bland and the portion was okay, but at least they can put hot. The minced pork rice plate was suppose to be my favorite but the rice was super hard... I'm not sure if it's old rice or its been in the rice cooker all day but I came at 4pm. This place was exactly what yelp designates 3 stars as: it is A-OK. I enjoyed the original pork BAO but thought that it was a bit overpriced for what it was. The popcorn chicken was crispy and yummy, but Oasis in Seattle and Meesum in the U-District both have better popcorn chicken for a similar price. I didn't try the bubble tea, so I can't comment on that. Seating was a bit scarce and i surprisingly had to wait for a bigger table at 8PM on a Thursday during their soft opening. My friends and I were then ushered to a tiny little table and were asked to just pull up a chair. It would be one thing to sit down and an expensive restaurant and feel unhappy about what you got for the price. but this place is fast food in a sense and I find there are not a lot of alternatives that I know of besides the very famous food truck "the box" (which is excellent BTW). TIGER FRIES: $8.95 Expected Price: $6.50 Fill a 1-cup measure with fries and that's how much you get in this basket. Toss it with a mayo sauce, add some celery and protein and voila - tiger fries. They tasted good. Love the idea. They suffer the nacho-complex: ingredients aren't layered so the bottom fries are JUST fries. There goes half of your small serving. Desserts were perfectly priced and delicious! Fried bao with vanilla, caramel, and granola is something that may tempt me to stop by just for dessert. This would have easily been a 4-star review for the flavor and friendly service. This was their soft open so I hope things change a bit moving forward. So excited to have this place nearby! Kids love bubble tea, I love rice bowls, we all love homemade desserts- perfect match. Tried tofu bao, cod bao and chicken rice bowl. Fresh and flavorful, natural flavors that don't leave weird aftertaste or make you thirsty. All natural taro bubble tea. My 2 yr old drank most of it by himself but luckily I got to taste some too- delicious and not sugary. Definitely won't feel guilty about feeding my kids here. Desserts were beyond expectations. I was very full after my rice bowl. But berry panna cotta could not be missed. Strawberry roll was airy and fresh, I only got a tiny bite because kids have killed it within a minute. This is my all time favorite place! Baos are $5.25 each. These are steamed open bao shaped like a taco. Don't even think about skipping the Bao special! One bite and you will want another! Trust me on this. Just do it! The special is: any 2 for $10, any 3 for $14. Traditional pork belly: melt in the mouth with the most amazing fixings which come together in an explosion of flavor. Kalbi beef: equally amazing! Crispy cod: excellent but pales in comparison to the beef and pork. Fried to perfection. Served on aluminum trays lined with paper. The small plates for the beef and pork were just as good but I personally preferred the 3 bite sized baos. Salt & pepper cauliflower: cooked to perfection but a little salty. Passion fruit aloe tea: very natural tasting. A little sweet but perfect once the ice melts a bit. Order and pay at the counter. You are assigned an order number. Help yourself to lemon water at the counter. Utensils, napkins in a steel bucket on wooden tables. Steel chairs - Strategically to dissuade you from getting too comfortable? LOL! Expect a cold seat on a cool day.... Asian pop music... Bus your own table. I think the bao would be the first meal I'd request if I were ever stranded on an island and rescued. Bao Bao!! If you haven't been to Tiger Bites yet, go immediately! Staff was incredibly friendly, food was superb and I love their laid back atmosphere! I really enjoyed my crispy cod bao! The texture of the bao bao aka the bun was soft, fluffy and it doesn't stick to my teeth. The fish was fresh and the batter on it was crispy. The sourness of the veggies blended very well with the spiciness of the mayo sauce. Don't forget to order a vanilla bao for a sweet ending! I am definitely going back to try their matcha bao! The pork belly bao was pretty flavorful. I did not really like the chicken one all that much. The popcorn chicken was very moist. Portions are on the smaller side. The pork belly would break apart as soon as you bit into it, and the bulgogi was topped with bits of kimchi which I liked since it added texture and spice to it. Honestly i think this place is very mediocre, but then again i may be biased because i can make these from scratch. The pricing is a bit expensive for a bao, turned out to be like $5 bucks each? But there isnt much competition in the bao space so if you're desperate this may have to do. The popcorn chicken was good, I did the 3 bao sampler and one of them was pretty good. Its been a while since i ate it and i cant remember, so it wasnt good enough to remember. This place is a bit small so the seating may be difficult if you have a big group.
