I am always own to try a new Chinese restaurant in this area, so we were able to try this place out on a Monday at around 7PM. This restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza - parking is easy to find due to the many spots located just outside the restaurant. Seating is mostly 6-8 person booths with the solo dining cubes in the middle of the restaurant. Ordering is done through a QR code menu where you select your foods and they bring it out to you when its ready. It wasn't too busy in the restaurant, so we were able to get our food in 10 minutes. We got the Green Pepper marbled beef noodles ($19) and the Noodles with soy bean paste ($18). First, flavor is good for both of the noodle dishes. The soy bean noodles were heavily seasoned with a savory fermented bean flavor, delicious for the first half of the meal, but does tend to get a bit salty at the end. Texture wise, the noodles in this dish are unfortunately a bit too soft as they got gummy real fast and didn't really hold their shape. The minced pork in the dish was nice, they gave the dish more of the hearty noodle texture that you want in a dish like this. As for the marbled beef noodles, the beef was sliced thinly and soaked up the spicy sour sauce that they were marinating in. A delicious sour and fragrant broth with preserved vegetables and a better noodle texture - between the two noodle dishes, these are more worth it. There are many Chinese restaurants on Eastside, and there is a lot of competition for good Chinese food. Unfortunately for the price and quantity, Shaoshan Rice Noodles does fall a bit short on that scale. For $18 - $19, I left still feeling hungry when at similar restaurants, I know that after spending that much I can leave feeling fuller.
