Terrible food quality and taste (despite name!), poor customer service, expensive food, and only has an "Okay" rating from King County Public Health. We saw high ratings and reviews for this restaurant so we wanted to try it. We spent $88 dollars for two of us to try about three different dishes and immediately regretted it when we arrived to pick up our order and smelled the food on the drive home. It was not good at all! Very oily and bad taste. We do not recommend this restaurant. Also, they were super inattentive and rude inside the restaurant when I went to pick it up. They ignored me for several minutes as I waited in the lobby to find out where to pick it up then they had me sit in a very busy area right outside the kitchen and next to a large group. This restaurant has a full parking lot and even a karaoke room/private lounge area (I inquired about it from the waiter and they mentioned that there is a minimum $consumption required to book it) Food was so authentic humongous portion for the price and so yummy !! I've come here twice; once for lunch and once for dinner. We ordered different dishes each time and was pleasantly surprised by everything. All the dishes were very delicious and they're extremely fast to serve! The steamed fish took the longest but that obviously needs extra care and time to prepare. This was my second time at Tasty Szechuan and first time taking my family here. We normally don't eat much Szechuan since my family doesn't enjoy eating much deep-fried food and spice, but we decided to give it a try. We ordered the CHIVES PANCAKES, CUMIN BEEF, SLICED FISH, & DAN DAN NOODLES. You order via a QR code app at the table, and so we requested that all dishes mild spicy and with no MSG. We also ordered three sides of white rice. The CHIVES PANCAKES were the star of the meal! They were gigantic and came in a set of two pancakes, but each pancake was more than enough for two people to share. They were stuffed with an egg and chive filling and pan fried golden on the outside. They were made fresh to order and served hot off the pan! As my dad said, he would go back to get just these for a quick takeout lunch. The CUMIN BEEF was the largest dish of them all- they definitely don't skip on the beef and onions! It had great cumin flavor, but was pretty oily (as most Szechuan food tends to be). You definitely need to eat rice with this dish. The beef also was overly tenderized in baking soda and had no chew to it. The SLICED FISH was our least favorite dish, and probably the strangest dish that we ordered. It came with black fungus, snap peas, and tomatoes. However, it was extremely overly salted and mushy. I've also never had stir-fried tomatoes in a Chinese dish before, and I can't say they quite went with the dish. It would've been nice to have some crunchier vegetables to complement the mushy cod. We would not order this again. Lastly, the DAN DAN NOODLES were just alright. They were nowhere close to as good as the dan dan noodles at Supreme Dumplings or Dough Zone. The noodles were disappointingly overcooked and thus had not chew to them. The sauce also lacked flavor and was very oily. Service was decent. The waitstaff came to check our order and also ensure that we had our water cups full throughout the meal. Although the chives pancakes were listed as an appetizer, they came out last and so we were already pretty full from the rest of the meal by the time they came out. In terms of ambiance, the exterior is kind of tacky and reminds me of the Krusty Krab, but the interior is clean and modern. While the food was a hit and miss this past visit, I hope to come back and try the salted egg and pumpkin and the golden sesame buns. Passed by this restaurant many times but only came here for the first time for a special event with a pre-chosen menu. Boy was I surprised by the quality, taste and variety of dishes! Servers were so sweet and attentive. Everyone was wearing masks and helping clear dishes and bring extra napkins, utensils, dishing out soup, etc. Since it was a special LNY private event, not sure if the menu we had is usually available to choose from but it was authentic and delicious. Loved the refreshing cucumber/tofu skin salad appetizer, cold cut chicken, herbal chinese soup, and there was an amazing spicy lamb dish that I almost thought was duck (that's how tender it was!). Highly recommend and will bring my family back soon! There looks to be also a separate banquet room for those looking to book a special event (ours was too large so we ended up in the front of the restaurant). FYI- parking lot is big but if busy time, may be awkward to get into some spots since weird angle parking on a hill in some places. read more

This is my go-to for Cumin Lamb. Its not always easy to find and their's is excellent. I came lunch today and ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp off of the lunch specials with a Cumin Lamb to go. The lunch specials come with the customery soup choice (egg flower or Hot and Sour). I chose H&S and it was perfectly seasoned with lots of finely chopped vegetables. The Kung Pow Shrimp was pretty standard American/Chinese fare, very good but not remarkable. They have a nice selection of teas, both hot and cold. Cumin Lamb- this is not a common item you see in the states. I was introduced to it by my Chinese family, the Shao's. I love it. Its a spicy dish but not hot spicy with chilies . This restaurant is huge with multiple rooms, but is understaffed. They tried to squeeze way too many tables with a table even almost right in the doorway. It's freezing at that table whenever anyone opens the front door. I think we only got our waters refilled once if at all, but we probably could have gotten more if we tried. It also took a while to get the check. We basically had one dish with each type of protein - free range chicken soup with cordyceps flower, steamed flounder with tofu, shredded pork with dry bean curd, and stir fried filet mignon, but also ordered the vegetable medley and "eggplants in hot garlic sauce". The chicken soup feels too overpriced, especially with the server spilling a bunch of it when pouring into the bowls. The shredded pork with dry bean curd and the eggplants in garlic sauce were both my favorite dishes. Their menu is huge, so there's going to be something for everyone. The hot and sour soup had a good flavor, but little of interest floating in the broth. I ordered Kung pao chicken med spicy. It wasn't very spicy and it was very salty. Soooo salty. It was a reasonably sized portion for lunch. I didn't see anything on my plate but chicken, peanuts, and dried chili pieces. I did enjoy the szechuan pepper tingle in my mouth. My other had the Mongolian chicken. It was a bit smaller serving, but it did include a little onion and green onion in addition to the chicken and whole dried chili. Nothing else. Also very, very salty. The restaurant was about 1/3 full, so others must be liking it, but we would not go back. I asked to talk with the business manger, per his yelp note. Tasty Szechuan has become my favorite family style Chinese restaurant. The prices are much more reasonable than in Chinatown, and almost everything I've had here is delicious and a large portion. The space is large and good for big groups. They also have their own parking lot, so this location is very convenient. The service is nothing to write home about, but it's negligible when the food is so good! My favorites include: - deep fried pumpkin with salted egg- I love salted duck egg yolk & this dish has battered Kabocha pumpkin mixed with sweet-savory duck egg yolk- super unique and delicious - twice cooked pork- super flavorful and garlicky, with pieces of pork belly and delicious leeks - rice cakes - very flavorful, and lots of meat included. I love that there's mushrooms and veggies in this! - green onion pancake- doughy, and flavorful, much better than the frozen dry ones at other restaurants Those four items came out to about $60 after tax (before tip). I've passed Tasty Szechuan on many occasions and from the buzz of activity in the area, and I'm a enjoyer of Szechuanese cuisine so I wanted to check this place out and see what was up! We went on a Friday around 6:30pm and were seated promptly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is busy, as there are a good amount of customers flowing in and out. There was a smokiness in the restaurant that lasted for a bit nearing the end of our dining experience, but that could also be due to the air quality at the time. Otherwise, the smells were very reminiscent of good Chinese cooking to me, which was comforting. We ordered a variety of dishes, which I'll review down below: Shrimp with Tofu: A delicious dish with a delicate taste - the flavors are subtle but you can definite differentiate the layers. There is a hint of ginger and a little bit of white pepper, which when combined with the thick (like a gooey texture) soup-like texture is very pleasing. Jellyfish Salad: A nice refreshing salad - the jellyfish doesn't really have flavor on it's own, and acts as a texture component. It soaks up the soy sauce well, and also pairs well with the sliced cucumber. I haven't had jellyfish in a long time so I enjoyed the reminder to my palate. Spicy Chicken Gristle: This dish was more a question mark in my head - I didn't know what gristle was, and was feeling adventurous. I don't think I would order this particular dish again - as my expectations were this was going to be a meat dish, not a bone with a little bit of meat dish. There were tiny morsels of meat scattered throughout and the flavor was nice and exciting, but majority of the dish was just chicken bones. It was a bit disappointing, but I won't hold it against the restaurant because of my misunderstanding. Spicy Slice lamb stew: This had nice flavor! The lamb was tender and sliced really thinly, which allowed for the spicy and sour soup to really attach it's flavor talons into the meat. Unfortunately, there wasn't too many lamb as after each person got a portion, there was no lamb left - making us wish for a bit more sustenance after ordering this. Otherwise, the veggies were good and the broth went well with rice. In the end, we spent $28 each between three people ($84). This was an alright price giving what we got - there is fierce competition of Szechuan restaurants on the Eastside and I would say they all have good flavor. It just depends on what you are looking to enjoy - on that note, I might revisit Tasty Szechuan one day in the future. read more

The only problem I see here is that you order on your phone and once the food comes to your table it's really hard to get a wait staff to come back to your table. We ran out of tea and water and there was no help in site. Also no one ever took away dirty dishes that I would not care to sit with. We had a few lunch specials for 9.95, There's 12 of them to order from each come with soup and rice. This time I thought I'd try something new in the Beef, Tripe and Tendon In Dry Pot (鍋仔牛三鮮), combined with the good ol' Dry Cooked String Beans. No complaints about the flavor of the beef, tripe, and tendon, but it was paired with really really old daikon. If you zoom in on my photo, you can see the barely peeled daikon with very stringey fibers. Half of them, I'd have to chew the centers and spit the peels... This is quite unprofessional! I have had several dishes here, which I shall not name since my friend always orders for the both of us and I have no clue! But, overall, all are fairly decent. Some are better than others, such as the fried green beans and dishes with greasy but flavorful beef bits. Others are less memorable. Pretty yummy rebrand! I loved how authentic everything is and the spot is super spacious and clean. Lots of yummy Szechuan dishes and lots of non spicy dishes too. Their prices are pretty yummy compared to the portion sizing but I didn't like salty most of their dishes were. Maybe next time I'll try to lower the msg levels! Went here today for dinner and I was honestly blown away! Only took about 20 minutes for all our food to arrive even though we ordered a decent amount of dishes, which was really nice since we went only an hour and a half before closing. We ordered these dishes: Fried Rice (we added chicken and requested for it to be spicy), Crispy Spicy Fried Fish, Kung Pao Chicken, Garlic Pork Belly, Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, Creamy Corn Soup, Scallion Pancakes, and Mango Fruit Tea. All of it was super good! And they allow for lots of customization, so you're able to order your food just how you like it. Another thing that we were pleasantly surprised by was the portion sizes. This place is clearly meant for large groups who plan to share the food amongst each other, so all of the dishes had enough for everyone to eat and then lots to take home as leftovers. One thing I will say though is be careful on the size of soup that you order. Apparently a small soup is meant to feed 5 people while the large size is meant to feed up to 15! The food wasn't even expensive in comparison to the portions either, as we only spent about $120 and now we'll have leftovers for the entire weekend and then some. The interior is also super pretty. Honestly I didn't expect it to look so cute but they have these spinning lights outside and inside that really feel welcoming. And the seats and tables all looked nice too! It was a tad salty but with good flavor. The Chongqing chicken (no bones) was our favorite. And our least favorite was the pepper beef.
