I am writing to tell you how much I appreciate what you, your company and its employees at the Lovingston branch did to help my family out during this past week of February 16. As you know the storm that came through our area was pretty severe in terms of snow, ice and wind. The private road on top of Elk Mountain got hit particularly hard and is reportedly one of the two most impactful weather events here in memory. Lots of downed trees and limbs, a power outage and icy, slippery roads were obstructing access and making life difficult for all our neighborhood. We have a large automatic generator, and I typically don't worry too much about such outages. The bad news for us was that I miscalculated our propane needs. A window replacement construction project had to be interrupted, unfinished, due to the covid pandemic. Unbeknownst to me, insulation was missing that caused an excessive use of propane in our home. At the worst possible time, with the power out, our generator quit due my error in running our propane tank out of gas. Your staff came to the rescue in what was rapidly deteriorating into a dangerous situation. My husband, is very frail and unable to be easily moved. The house was starting to get very cold. The driver, Robby, who was dispatched to fill our tank, was just able to get up the road, but unable to drive his truck into our driveway, as our driveway had been all torn up from a previous snow event. Lisa, in the office, was very kind and assured me that they would do whatever it took to get me propane. Night was nearly upon us and we had NO backup plan to keep my husband safe and out of danger. You dispatched a four-wheel drive truck with a crane and two large portable tanks to our home. After managing to maneuver onto our driveway, the crew of Mike and Jimmy expertly lifted the tanks into position down a hill by our home tank. They had to wedge rocks below the tanks to prevent them from sliding down the hill. Once positioned, they connected the gas, but the generator would not come on. Rather than leave me in this predicament, they troubleshot and repaired the generator. Once we had the power on, they still weren't satisfied. They insisted on coming into to ensure that our furnace was operating. After all that, Mike calculated the usage of the gas in the portable tanks, in the event the power company would not be able to restore the power for several days (which was the current estimate, as there were numerous breakages of the lines.) He insisted that we have a plan for either coming out to refill the portable tanks, or to access our home tank, so that we would not run out in the middle of the night on the weekend. True to form, late Friday, a tanker was dispatched to our home and this time was able to make the delivery. We were literally saved by the thoughtful and persistent efforts of your company and its employees. I don't even like to think how badly things could have gone for us without your assistance. Great company for fuel delivery, never had an issue with them. Use them at home, use them at work, so glad to have Tiger for fuel! The issue I've had is with the fireplace insert I bought from them in 2018. We've had nothing but problems with the insert, made by Empire Comfort Systems, and installed/maintained by Tiger. We are done sinking money into this terrible unit, replacing this and replacing that and getting it cleaned each year like you are supposed to. When I ordered the unit from Tiger back in 2018, I asked for the "best one you have." If this is the best that Empire Comfort Systems makes, than, no thanks! We are going to put up with having to light the pilot 2-3 times a day for the rest of the heating season and in the springtime we are going with a different firm to install a top of the line insert for us from a different manufacturer (Tiger should offer premium manufacturers of inserts in addition to Empire Comfort Systems- something from Sweden perhaps). Funny, we have an insert downstairs that was here in the house when we moved in (2015). We light the pilot on that one once a season and it stays lit for the entire season. Guess they just don't make them like they used to! My advice to anyone who will listen, if you are going to get a fireplace insert- Empire Comfort Systems inserts installed by Tiger are not reliable. For fuel, yes, Tiger is great but very lacking in quality of inserts! read more

Great Service! Just got off the phone with Tiger Fuel in Lovingston. We were out of town but our thermostat alerted us that the temperature had gone five degrees below what we had it set for. I called Tiger Fuel in Charlottesville (my mistake) at 9:30 this morning. The gentleman we spoke to was very helpful and realized we needed to speak to the Lovingston office so he transferred us to them to put in a service call. At 12:30 Lisa R. called me back while our technician Corey B. Was on site. They checked our tank and realized it was empty and filled it. Then asked if we wanted the service technician to check to make sure everything was in order inside the house. It was a huge relief for us since we couldn't be there to do it ourselves. He was able to check the appliances and furnace and get it running. I don't think the furnace would have started up without Corey's assistance. Thank you all for a job well done and it's only 1:30! My gas fireplace wasn't working at all, so we made an appointment with Tiger hoping they could repair it. We're already impressed with them b/c they are the fuel/gas company we use for the house, but now we are even more impressed. The associate who scheduled the appointment was kind and professional and our experience cont'd to go uphill from there. Ryan Radzisaukas arrived exactly on time, was polite and nice from the get-go, was very clean and courteous-- he covered his shoes to protect our floors and was just plain respectful. He was successful with the repair (yay!!), thoroughly cleaned up/vacuumed, took a look at the other fireplace while here, walked me through what he'd done, discussed 2 questions I had and explained the benefits and deterrents to my questions/thoughts. Ryan from Tiger Fuel in Lovingston copper-wired my new/old 125 gallon upright propane tank to a new portable generator. He was prompt, efficient, expert, kind, supportive, answered all my questions with a smile and left the place as clean and neat as he found it. A real sweetie and genuinely nice guy. Very impressed with Ryan's work and knowledge. Also, at the Lovingston branch is Fred Brown, who has helped me numerous times at my house, via email and over the phone. Super good guy, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and generous! And, so patient! There is some guy called Mike, a manager in Charlottesville, I think. He is also amazing and generous, helped me out with a big issue and I so appreciate his willingness to work with me and the entire Tiger Fuel gang with whom I interacted on the phone. Just recently, we sold our house. During the final inspection, by the purchaser and agent, a leak was discovered around the neck of the tank- six days before closing! Tammy and Fred, Lovingston, flew into action. Three days later... a new tank was installed. Closing took place on time... new owner and I were very satisfied with the quick and efficient response by Tiger Fuel. Dealing with Tiger Fuel for the past twenty years, one learns that Tiger Fuel is a conscientious supplier of propane and provides the best service to the customer. We are so pleased with the response we got from Tiger Fuel when the gas logs we purchased failed to consistently operate correctly. They immediately dispatched a technician to our home in Wintergreen to fix the gas logs each time they malfunctioned. When they continued to malfunction I turned to Fred Brown, Service and Sales Manager, for help. Fred quickly replaced them with a new set at no cost to me! Over the years I have found the staff at Tiger Fuel to be very helpful and courteous to me regarding my payment plan and scheduling of fuel. Their pricing is consistent, and they recently offered a summer delivery discount which I took advantage of. I just have one of those wall units which is a lifesaver when the electricity goes out in the winter, as it is wont to do! I rarely have problems, but if I do, they are good at sending someone out to help. (I sometimes have trouble turning the unit on in November.)
