Shredded Sweet Garlic Pork with Szechuan oil & Awesome Fried Rice. All very good!
    Mike C.

Ordered takeout, shredded sweet garlic pork with Szechuan oil and fried rice. First time trying their good. Damn it really good. Most fried rice that comes with takeout is just rice and maybe some egg...not from Tiger's. It's real fried rice and delicious! My pork dish is really good and the whole meal exceeded my expectations by a lot. I had heard this was a good restaurant so decided to order from there and so glad I did! I have a dinner date coming up and we are going to dine in at Tiger's and get the full experience! Great job!

Yikes! I don't know how many times I've driven by this place thinking to myself I need to try it one day, well that day finally came and instead of enjoying good Chinese food, I was met with distaste from the overly dry orange chicken and super dry fried rice...kinda hard to ruin fried rice, no? Looks can be deceiving!!! We were deceived for sure. We called and placed the order for to-go/pickup! Arrived and the food was piping hot. Steaming and fresh and well presented for Togo food, however, the fireworks end there. We ordered the green beans with minced pork, orange chicken, and sweet garlic beef with Szechuan oil...each entree comes with your choice of fried rice or white rice...so we chose two fried rice and one white rice... The orange chicken was dry, to the point of chicken jerky...while the sauce was good, it was almost not edible because of how dry the chicken was...I mean do the workers even taste test the food before sending it out of the kitchen??? C'mon!!! No one wants to eat dry orange chicken. Disgusting! Then the fried rice was super dry and flavorless... The only thing that was really flavored well and tasted delicious were the green beans with minced pork... I was super disappointed and they really need to taste their food before giving their customers their order. I don't think they'd appreciate eating what we ate either...Houston surely is quantity over quality.

Really good! The pork dumplings were tasty, the beef very well seasoned and just all around enjoyable flavors. Portions are a great size, and the food not too oily. I would definitely eat this again!

I removed my previous review for Tiger's since it lacked any photos and have a new review (with photos!). As stated before, Tiger's is probably one of the more authentic Asian restaurants around town. I believe it to be mainly Szechuan, with a couple other regions peppered in (pun intended). The good: Spicy Lamb with cumin, eggplant with minced pork and chili oil wontons. The spicy lamb with cumin is a must order; it is sliced lamb with just a touch of crisp to it, packed with spices, onions and flavor - probably my absolute favorite dish there. Up next is the eggplant with minced pork; generous amounts of soft eggplant, bathed in chili oil and garnished with copious amounts of chopped peppers (of the spicy kind and the bell kind) - not a ton of minced pork in it, but enough to add some flavor, although, the dish really stands on its own, even without the pork. Chili Oil Wontons; for $8 you get a 10 piece dish of velvety soft wontons with a nice pork filling, swimming in chili oil and peppers. Not super spicy, just very tasty. A perfect appetizer and reasonable price. The okay: Spicy DanDan noodles. These weren't bad, but weren't great. My son ordered them. They were a bit over cooked and were sticking together a lot which made them a bit cumbersome to eat, they were also super long; it would help if they were cut and not cooked quite so long. The flavor was pretty good; sort of a sweet/savory. I don't think I would order them again. Fried rice is pretty basic...maybe they have a more jazzed up version that's available that I don't know about, but as good as most everything else is, I expected more from the fried rice. The weird: atmosphere is kind of strange and the restaurant kind of feels a bit unfinished. They seem to do a lot of take out service and I can see why; it isn't a particularly fun or exciting place to eat in. With all of that being said, almost everything I've had here has been really good, save for a few things. If you go and order the chili wontons, the spicy lamb with cumin and the eggplant with minced peppers, you won't be disappointed. I'll definitely keep returning and sticking with my main dishes when I need some authentic Chinese.

Hot and Sour Soup- small. Really tasty!

The reviews were so mixed that I was a little worried, but the food was great and service was good. This place is just like other Tiger Noodle Houses- Same menu, same good food, and I would say food is fresher. Our food came out piping hot. The only difference was the pork soup dumplings had very little soup, but the flavor was there. My young daughter didn't care, she ate them like a champ and she is a picky eater. The hot and sour soup was good. I could eat this and rice and I would be in a happy place. The small was a pretty decent size for less than $2. Most of the customers were getting take out on a Tuesday. We were there with 2 other tables. No wait.

I got food here and was traumatized . The food I received had hair all throughout my meal. The hair was non human and was small like shedded hair . I unfortunately took a couple bites before I realized their error and it instantly made me sick . I got a refund but it was no compassion or real genuine concern. will not be coming back. please check your food if you decide to come here which I Do not recommended

Sweet and sour Sweet Garlic Eggplant

Yum! Probably the best Szechuan/taiwanese food that you can get on this side of town in the north. We had the sweet and sour eggplant which is delicious with a great texture. The mapo tofu had a nice spice, not the hot kind but the tingly Szechuan kind, probably could use a tad more salt but good. The soup dumplings had a great flavor but barely any soup but that's normal for take out because the longer the dumplings sit the more soup the skins absorb. We will definitely get soup dumplings if we start eating in. Everything above was solid in taste. Maybe not as paunchy in flavors as some other places in China town but still very solid and done well. The one comically bad thing was the wonton soup. It tasted like water broth with some color and the wontons were just meh. This would be a never again. Definitely will order from here again.

Loving the authentic Chinese food slowly coming to the Cypress area, having tried Tiger's in Katy, I was hoping this restaurant would be just as the same. Due to the pandemic we placed an order online and to our surprise there was a discount available too! The website was easy to use, and we were able to select the time for the food to be ready. Once we arrived, food was prepared, packaged, and piping hot! We ordered: Chicken and broccoli Spicy wontons Large wonton soup Taiwanese spicy beef noodle soup Classical dongpo pork All items were as expected but the Classical Dongpo Pork was excellent!!! First time having it here and it met our expectations! Will be back!!

Dry Vegetarian Stir Fried Noodle, Dry Fried Green Beans with Minced Pork, Veggie Steamed Dumpling

I ordered takeout and the food was amazing. It was prepared on time and fresh when received. They gave me a really great portion of everything I asked for.. the green beans were so good!

    Crab Rangoon sauce

We ordered delivery and were so excited to eat dinner. Unfortunately the food was sub par. The cashew chicken was in fact not cashew but peanuts. I'm not sure how there was a mix up, to make it worse the peanuts were raw like they were thrown in last minute and not cooked. The chicken was extremely salty, enough to where I was unable to eat it. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. The crab ragoons however were good, but the dipping sauce seemed a little off. The sauce was more pink rather than red. A disappointing way to end our weekend.

Huge portions and excellent food. I have really enjoyed my meals here. This is not very Americanized Chinese food. Some atypical spices are used. Lots of peppercorn in some dishes. Excellent!

    Nice look. 1st time trying.

The mapo tofu is one of the best we've had outside of Bellaire with spicy, savory, numbing, and warmth that you expect from a good mapo tofu. Crispy popcorn chicken is a classic that's spicy, lightly fried, and crisp. It has an authenticity that other places around can't replicate and makes you keep craving more. The portions are also appropriate for their price. Service is incredibly quick, and you can order as you go and receive your dish within 10-15 minutes, regardless of how busy they are. As for the ambiance, it's loud, it's hectic, and it's simple... maybe a stretch, but makes me feel like I'm eating at a mom and pop shop in the heart of China. This place is definitely a go to if I'm convincing a friend of Houston's great food scene! Rating: 4.5/5

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.

I think we may have went on an off day because I have tried takeout form this place that was delicious, but on this day the food wasn't my favorite. We did overall enjoyed our experience and time and I would recommend giving this place a try! We ordered a total of 5 dishes and everything seemed very authentic to Sichuan cooking. With Sichuan cuisine though, a lot of the food will be on the oily side, so keep that in mind. - Eggplant In Spicy Sauce (5/5): Definitely order this dish! You can tell the eggplant was prepared well because it retained its beautiful purple color and luscious shape. The flavor was sweet and savory seeped well into the eggplant. My only comment would be that there wasn't a strong garlic flavor, but it was still so tasty I think it deserved that 5/5! - Mapo Tofu (2.5/5): I came here specifically for the mapo tofu but was left a bit disappointed. The flavor was pretty good and had that strong Sichuan pepper spice that lingers after a while. My issue with the tofu was the consistency of the sauce. I found it to be very thick and clumpy in an unpleasant way, almost like eating little gelatin pieces. I would probably come back to try it again just in case this was a bad batch, but it's hard to compete with wanna boa's mapo tofu. - Spicy and Crispy Chicken (4/5): Pretty juicy and crispy chicken with a slight kick. I love anything fried chicken so I did enjoy this dish but it was pretty standard and there wasn't much to write about. - Red Oil Dumplings (3/5): Pretty standard oil dumplings. They weren't really spicy which would be good for people who can't handle spice. I think I would've liked a bit more meat filling but overall not bad. - Dan Dan Noodles (3/5): I loved the texture of the noodles but I found the sauce to be kinda slippery which made it hard adhere to the noodles. I also thought the flavor could've been a bit stronger. Service/Ambiance: the interior of this place was super cute, especially the upstairs area. I loved the dim lighting and tiny table lamps which gave this place a cozy romantic feeling. The outside was also interesting with an all black exterior and no sign. That might make it hard to notice or find the restaurant, but that did give it a more hidden feeling which was nice. Parking was also abundant and service was great!

And their other menu items are fire as well! We went on a Sunday late evening. We had a 9 pm airport pickup at IAH so it was a perfect opportunity to grab a spectacular dinner and make the 30+ minute drive out to IAH totally worth it. Parking lot wasn't too full so that wasn't an issue. While the neighborhood ain't River Oaks luxury, it ain't too scary either. We kept it simple - ordered a whole duck and Bamboo House Special Noodle with Beef. This place ain't cheap but the food is worth every penny. It was very busy that evening so it's not a well-kept secret but also proves that eventually, Houstonians will figure out where the good food is. The duck was near perfect. They serve the duck with the pancakes (as opposed to the buns like at Arco) which is my preference. The soup that comes with it was also extremely flavorful. And the house special noodles with beef - oh my. I swear it's just one really long noodle so you may be frustrated trying to divvy up the family style bowl, but the labor is worth it. So good... I had previously visited the now closed Bamboo House on Westheimer and I remember being impressed by the food. I had to make an airport run and decided that it would be perfect timing to stop by this location. I highly recommend ordering the duck ahead of time, but we were lucky enough to snag one of the last ducks when we arrived around 7 pm on a Sunday evening. The waitress was super friendly and upbeat and the restaurant is older but well maintained. You can see where the food is being prepared/cooked and you can see ducks being cooked/warmed behind a glass window. The duck was absolutely spectacular with the perfect seasoned and tender meat accompanied by well rendered crispy skin. I love how the pancakes are paper thin and pair well with the scrumptious duck and other toppings. They also provide sugar and plum sauce as additional toppings which I thought was interesting but not my cup of tea. The duck soup was extremely flavorful and full bodied and went well with the duck. The noodles were also amazing with likely hand pulled noodles served with an abundance of tender beef and vegetables with a little Sichuan kick. I was intrigued by a strawberry chicken dish that I saw on the menu and I plan to try it the time. My diagnosis: hands down the best Peking duck in the greater Houston area!
