I cannot express it enough. I have been to numerous buffet and tried their soft salt/pepper crabs and by far I love the way King Palace prepare this dish. It is delicious and tasty. The seasoning is just perfect for my taste. As you all know by now, we love crabs and any shell fish. So each time we visit this is the only thing I enjoy including cheesy mussels and now added to my list is sashimi! read more

Several of us dined here for lunch last weekend and it had been many years since my last visit. King,Palace is located on the Hwy. 249 frontage road just north of the Willowbrook Mall area. The restaurant has a large parking lot. Inside its big. The restaurant is your traditional Chinese buffet with a large selection of steam table items. Pricing changes depending whether it's lunch or dinner or on the weekends and holidays. I'm not sure if the selection changes. On that Sunday my meal cost without drink was $16. On a weekday for lunch it would have been $12. Everything that I tried was good tasting and hot. I particularly remember the rich tasting egg drop soup. There was plenty of seafood items available and the steam table areas were kept full of food and clean. Table service was prompt and efficient. This restaurant stays busy and serves a lot of people at a time. It's a good Chinese buffet restaurant and I would be happy to return. read more

Food was COLD!! The health inspector was there testing the temperature on the food as we were finishing up our meal. At checkout we told the cashier that all the food was cold. She acted surprised and said she would look into it. This was a huge disappointment and surely not worth the $22 per person price! STAY AWAY from this restaurant!! read more

Food cold a$f and a$$ it was tasteless, plates where all oily even tho they were "clean" . the mac n cheese was yellow a$f and so watery like how could you mess up such a simple dish that bad?!!??? overall a trash a$$ place for 20$ it aint worth it at all. First time trying this place me and my daughter were amazed of how much steam was coming off of the hot wheels where they hold their food. The food all taste good very tasty, hot sour soup was the best I've ever had every time I got up to get another platerefilled my drink gave me fresh silverware new straw very clean Restaurant. So this is definitely a buffet & the variety is NICE!!! Seriously, seafood with whole crabs, shrimp cooked all kinds of ways , fried, sauteed, cold, sauced it's there, beef, pork, sushi, dessert...they do not skimp on variety. Taste wise everything was mediocre. Nothing over the top omg I've got to have more so even though this large variety of food for a great price is only $11.99 all you can eat which is a great value I probably won't be back because I wasn't able to eat like I wanted to. The flavors were lacking. The sweet & sour chicken was awesome, fried shrimp big & perfect. Some of the other sauced dishes just weren't cutting it. If your looking for a low priced sushi fix this is definitely your spot. The sushi was fresh & good. If your super hungry looking to pig out for cheap but not super high quality taste check them out. I dont recommend eating here. The place doesn't look sanitary. The backsplash of the buffet areas are yellowing and look like they haven't been properly cleaned. When we grabbed our plates they were not very clean. They still had stains and food on them. The food was not very good. Everything was either overcooked or undercooked. Just plain horrible all around. This is coming from someone that enjoys takeout from a small hole in the wall type places. So I'm definitely not picky with Chinese buffet, but this place was just waste of $40 for just me and my husband. I honestly don't know how people were serving themselves huge plates because most of the food is overly salty or not enough flavor. The fried food was prob the only good thing from this, you can't really mess that up. The only thing from the dessert area I liked was the fruit and jello. The little pastries looked too dry. While house & dog sitting for our daughter while she was in Greece, my wife and I stayed in Houston for a week. On about day 3, we were tired of grilling & and swimming, so we decided to find find a nearby Chinese Restaurant. Yelp and Trip Advisor had some raves about this place, so we thought we'd give this it and try. No disappointment here whatsoever. The variety of choices was very appealing for my wife's limited palate and my "I'll try anything once" approach to food. Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, and even Vietnamese Summer Rolls were offered which is something I've never seen in the Austin market. There were several seafood options including Sushi, Spare Ribs, several Chicken and Pork dishes, not much Beef, but that was the only real criticism I have. The service attendants were polite and present but they didn't hover. They kept the plates cleared and my Iced Tea glass full. There was Pizza for my 5 year old Grandson and hand dipped Ice Cream. They have it all and next time we visit we will he sure to return. The name is apropos because it is fit gorgeous a king. Give them a try because the place rocks in every way. read more

My husband and I were both very impressed with the cheese sticks as well as the pepper steak. I definitely recommend this location if you are into Chinese and like buffets. Overall it's just okay. Some of the food is bland with no flavor, but some of it is really good. I went one time a few weeks ago, and they had a really tasty seafood boil (not crawfish) and the next time I went, they didn't have it. Staff is nice and attentive. If you want a quick fix on Chinese food. You can gorge out on this place. For two of us it came out to about $29 bucks. The staff is good at refilling your drinks and clearing your plates. I really just wanted to pig out, and that I did. I am full as full can be. 3 plates full LOL. I didn't eat dessert because I know we were getting some custard later. Anyhoo the food is pretty good. There is a lot to choose from (mostly fried). But they always restock the food. My only setback was the crabs. It had a strong ammonia sent to it. Now you all know if the crabs are spoiled, cooking them will give off an ammonia sent. Bypass this item completely. Don't take the chance and get sick. read more

We went here in hopes that it lived up to its 4 star score. We were disappointed. The buffet is quite large, but we were not impressed with the flavors of the selections. Old stand-bys we're ok (sweet and sour chicken, fried wings, egg roll) but the entrees were not so great. The flavors were a bit off. Service was ok; what can you expect from an all-you-can-eat buffet? We were sat in the front most booth near the register; and during our meal some employees sat down at a table next to us and had their lunch. Not so bad but they had huge plates of food that were not offered on the buffet and honestly eating like they hadn't had any food in days. It was a bit distracting. I've seen employees eat in other restaurants but never front and center with all the patrons. The ambiance is typical of a Chinese buffet. All in all it was mediocre at the very best. Vegetables like green beans and broccoli were undercooked. Fried shrimp/Crabs or other unimaginable fried stuff are just huge amount of batter covering something inside. Sushi is hopeless! One of the better Chinese buffets in the area. Decent price for a wide variety of food, from seafood to sushi to American fare & standard Chinese dishes. Everything is pretty fresh & cooked well, and they keep everything well stocked too. We like to stop by and do a quick take out by ordering buffets to-go... Dining in is a bit of a headache, however. It is a well-kept & clean establishment, but it's not very spacious & always overcrowded. How easy is it to miss this place? Well, it is as easy as hiding a restaurant behind a few trees and it popping out on you right as you drive by. Well after you've tried that place and get tired of it after eating there two weeks in a row like I did, drive down half a block and on your right this restaurant will magically appear. Yes there is a sign but it's not an obvious one. Parking is ample but just a little strange on the lay out with it's twists, turns and divisions so this is fair warning for you typical Asian drivers that already do not know how to drive let alone park. As you enter you will be greeted by something not common in Asian restaurants these days, friendliness. You will be taken to your table and any request like being set next to the television to watch your favorite Texan game will be met and not with a smirk or rolled eyes like us Asians like to do. You will notice this all the way from the front of the house where the hostess and cashier are stationed to the back where the buffet people are filling the buffet with fresh stock as well as the wait staff. I bet you if you went back to the kitchen the dishwasher would even smile at you. The buffet layout, it's pretty huge. I think I counted 5 islands and each with your staple pseudo Chinese food. Crab puffs, fried crabs, ex gf's with crabs, sushi, salads, noodles, your 3 soups (come on now, you know which three ALWAYS pop up), fried rice, desserts (the usual characters) etc etc etc. You've been to one buffet you've been to them all and this is not so much an exception except you get a good variety, average price but the service I keep noticing rolls it over an extra star. After you've finally left the place as miserable as a two pound tick that finally got unattached to a dog you will remember this place as a clean, friendly , variety choice in your face buffet that almost rivals China Sea across the street. The only thing this buffet does not have is your "Hibachi" grill but you can't have them all right? Happy eating, don't forget to rub that big buddha belly as you leave and no licking. read more
