Very small storefront that's normally not busy. I got the mango pomelo and it tasted very artificial and overly sweet. Their signature bubble milk tea is better but the craze of tiger sugar definitely decreased while the price of each boba is still high. The staff was very nice though. read more

Gave Tiger Sugar a second try to solidify my opinion, which is that the drinks are low quality and distasteful. I don't like how the black sugar milk drinks don't have any tea, so today I tried the mango sago drink. It wasn't sweet enough (I didn't make any sugar adjustments) and had a strong plastic taste to it and the sago was all mushy and clumped together. I also got the strawberry mochi drink, the base itself was a decent strawberry milk flavor with chunks of strawberry, but the mochi tasted like congealed glue that disintegrated in your mouth and left a gritty coating on my tongue. The store is set up in a way that discourages any interactions between the workers and customers, it was hard to get their attention through the whole setup my first visit to ask a question. We happened upon this Boba spot while shopping at the Cost Plus World Market nearby. The shop is relatively small with only a few seats. This was our first time visiting and found that they have a wide variety of drink options. My daughters (9 & 11) got the Taro drink and I got the Matcha. We did not care for the drinks at all. In fact we did not finish our drinks which is rare. They were way too sweet and the heavy sweet taste messed up the flavor of the Taro and the Matcha. Glad we tried it but won't be back. I'm a fan! I've passed by this place so many times. Since I was in the area, I stopped in today to try them out. They don't have a super wide range of options but just enough. The employee I engaged with was very helpful. I did the number 4 - tiger coffee latte. It was nice and smooth, on the sweeter side but not overly sweet! It might just be a me thing but this was my least favorite bubble tea. I got the taro yogurt and everything was at the bottom. The rest just tasted like milk. Service was as hands off as could be. You place your order at the kiosk, your beverage is prepared and picked up at the counter by the door. There's 4 tables to sit at inside which was nice but nothing special. read more

First time trying Tiger Sugar and I was disappointed in my drink. With tax, I paid over $8 and my strawberry slush drink wasn't as pictured, which was more like a smoothie or even soft serve. My drink was watered down (not icy) and too sweet, so I went back and they gave me another with more ice and less sweet. I thought the sweetness was the same and there was more ice, but it still didn't look like what was in their photo. I also was hoping for a fresh strawberry taste, which this didn't have. Love the product! They have a limited selection but if you like brown sugar bubble tea, this is your place. The tapioca balls and custard were soft and had a good mouthfeel. You order from a touchscreen next to the register and the drink is made very quickly. My girlfriend and I were both disappointed with our purchase here. We got a standard brown sugar milk tea and taro milk tea. Both our orders tasted like basic plain milk. Hate to drop my rating... but a few things have transpired since my last review: -they added a convenience fee, which is mandatory if you are paying by credit card -the kiosk checkout automatically adds 18% tip so if you click too fast you will miss it -in general the place is not regularly wiped down despite lack of customer I do still like their brown sugar drinks. I tried their #7 which is with red bean and like it a lot. But with taxes and the convenience fee, a regular drink is pretty much $7 now. There is just too much competition in the area to have prices like this. Places like Tea-do have a modern vibe and have late hours. And Gong Cha has a lot more options. Many other bubble tea places also now have brown sugar boba drinks. Tiger Sugar is losing its competitive edge. read more

Came here in a Saturday night, service was very quick and friendly. I ordered the Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl + Coffee Latte with Cream Mousse. The drinks were crafted perfectly. Love the creamy, slightly sweet and perfect balance of coffee flavor! The only thing I'd have to comment on is the pearls being softer than I'd like and not enough of the chewy consistency. I have mixed emotions about Tiger Sugar. Their milk tea options are quite limited compared to their boba competitors. The actually place is tiny, only 3/4 tables and it is meant for more grab and go which is fine. I ordered the regular Tiger sugar tea and it was incredibly sweet. The boba plus the pearls and the brown sugar drizzle on the sides of the cup is very overwhelming and there was no option to do less sweetener when ordering on the tablet. This has to be the most consistently disappointing boba tea spot I've ever spent money at. The last time we went in, our orders had to remade. I got a matcha boba and it tasted like nothing? How is that even possible? The most recent visit it was a completely empty store and we went for the same brown sugar milk boba and matcha and unfortunately walked out before trying it. I'm used to tiger sugar back home only having their milk drinks but I didn't know they also have fruit teas which I was happy about. I ended up getting their Vanilla Black Tea with Boba which I've never heard of before. My boyfriend got the Brown Sugar Boba with Taro Pudding. Not sure if the person who made our drinks made it right..? I ordered oolong latte with cream mousse and my bf ordered strawberry mochi with oat milk since he's lactose intolerant. When we got our drinks, the oolong latte didn't look like it had a cream mousse on top as a topping so I asked if this is what the mousse is supposed to be and the person who made the drink said it was just mixed in bc it's a latte, which seemed a bit questionable since in the picture it shows up as a topping but I didn't push it. But what was more critical was that the strawberry mochi didn't seem like it had oat milk! It really tasted like regular milk and altho we'd like to of course give the benefit of the doubt, my bf's stomach later confirmed that it probably wasn't oat milk. My favorite boba chain from Taiwan! Notice I say boba instead of bubble tea, since their star product includes boba cooked in black sugar and milk, but really doesn't have a tea component. This does mean the sugar level cannot be adjusted for this drink, which I don't mind. I think their menu has been expanded to have more tea based options as well, which I imagine would be equally amazing and can't wait to try next time. Tiger Sugar is at the top of my list for delicious boba. Im happy that they branched out to Montgomery County. Less travel time for me. They are a located in the Federal Plaza Shopping center. I say get here early as parking is hard as it gets later in the day. Lines to form fast outside, but it moves fast. Great and fast customer service. I order the usual. Just as good, as I had it at their Ellicot City location. Boba pearls were fresh and it did not upset my tummy. Ill definitely be back. They are located next to Sallys. read more

So, I was excited to try Tiger Sugar (老虎堂) while visiting my old stomping grounds. The shop is small...maybe three tables squeezed into a narrow corridor of a place. The service was okay...not friendly or inviting but not bad. This brought the review down. There was a lady waiting at the counter trying to get some help, and i had to intervene to help her. I expected more milk tea options, but perhaps that is not what Tiger Sugar (TS) serves. Normally, at a new place, i purchase a basic milk tea and also a specialty drink. So, i bought the only milk tea available (black tea latte with boba and cream - T5 - acc to the cashier). And i also bought the Red Bean The drinks were less sweet than average, which I def prefer. However, except for the red bean, the drinks tasted exactly the same to me. I could not taste the tea in the tea latte, just cream and sugar. The boba itself was good. I wouldn't be against returning, but for $6.50 per small drink, i expect a bit more. read more

Came to get the hello kitty collab! Ordered the regular tiger sugar from the kiosk. The staff is pretty friendly and greet you, although they don't necessarily have to help you with your order. The inside decor wasn't as elaborate as other locations with the hello kitty decor but it was still cute. I'm glad they still had the cup holders but I did notice they had a sign saying they were sold out of something hello kitty related. Only thing my friend and I wish was better was the ice level. The drink was luke warm and the boba was too warm, but I guess that's how you know it's fresh. Next time, definitely asking for extra ice. read more

There is a real cult following for Tiger Sugar bubble tea. I wanted to see for myself why this bubble tea is so popular? I am a fan of tigers and the black and gold interior with cute stuffed tigers is very attractive. The manager told me they will be selling stuffed tigers in the coming months. There was a large crowd waiting for bubble tea, especially for a Monday afternoon, but the process for ordering and getting your tea only took about 5 minutes. Everyone, but one customer was masked. I would have really appreciated someone working there were to ask that person to wait outside, if they wouldn't put on a mask, but that did not happen. The manager was very personable and attentive. I told him that I was ordering one of the more popular drinks mentioned in the Yelp reviews and he agreed it was very popular. I ordered the black sugar,boba milk,and chocolate malt with cream mousse. Truthfully, I was not a fan. Maybe, I ordered the wrong drink? But, my drink was bitter and I did not taste any cream mousse. To be honest, brown sugar boba is not usually my jam. At other places, I find it to be too sweet for me, but at Tiger Sugar it's just right. The Ellicott location had a drinkable mochi option (can't remember if that's exactly what it's called), but this Rockville location said they don't have it yet. No big deal! I'm giving them 5 stars because they nailed the perfect boba in my opinion. I do wish that the portions were larger and/or put less ice. I can finish my drink in about 5 big gulps lol. It was pure deliciousness. I enjoyed it a lot. They also gave me a Tiger Lanyard and a Tiger Milk Cream dessert egg roll. It a perfect addition to this shopping center, right close to a great dessert. I think a drink from Tiger Sugar and a cookie from the nearby dessert shop. Could be a match made in dessert heaven. Tiger Sugar has some of the highest quality boba drinks in the area! I know I can always rely on them to produce fantastic boba drinks that leave me wanting more. When you walk inside, they have dark modern vibes with bright lighting and plenty of space for seating. They also just announced a collaboration with Hello Kitty, so they have some cute pink decorations there that actually fit well. What is special about this particular location is the customer service. Tiger Sugar and several other stores in the area were having issues with their water, which means I could not get the original strawberry slush I ordered. The servers were extremely kind and offered me free snacks, suggested a similar drink for me to try (strawberry mochi), and upgraded my partner's drink to a large for free. They went out of their way to do all of this with no hesitation, which meant a lot to me. I was so so happy with my strawberry mochi drink, which is one of the most unique and delicious boba drinks I have had in a very long time. They layer the mochi on top, which has a marshmallow-like texture, and add pearls at the bottom. This is going to become my new regular go-to boba spot! read more

They are nice here and they helped me navigate the menu because it all looked the same to me. I guess I am at the stage where I am bubble tea fatigued. There are just so many bubble tea places in Rockville! Way too many now. Anyways, this brand brings something else to the table and that's why it is popular. You get the more gritty type brown sugar that is then slathered along the side and you need to shake it so it incorporates. Tiger Sugar in Rockville used to be my go-to spot for bubble tea, but the service has gone downhill. I placed an online order on a Sunday at 4:00 pm, thinking it would save time. The pick-up was estimated to be around 4:30 pm, but I received a text at 4:20 pm saying they hadn't even started my order and asked me to call them. I tried calling, but no one picked up. When I arrived, I was left standing there with no updates or communication about my order, we ultimately got our drinks almost an hour after we had originally placed the order. To top it off, we paid extra for crystal boba, but it wasn't even in our drinks. The lack of service and care has left a bad taste--literally and figuratively and we won't be returning to this location. read more
