The flavor of the tea itself is pretty good! It's very caramel-y and fresh; I really enjoy it. The Boba is very soft. I might even say it's too soft and a little distracting since I don't think I've ever had a Boba this soft. I would rather the Boba be soft than hard, so I'm not too mad though. I'm Just Not the biggest fan of soft Boba. The size is pretty good, but it may be a little expensive. The Store itself is small and it has a little bit of seating. It's clean.
Gave Tiger Sugar a second try to solidify my opinion, which is that the drinks are low quality and distasteful. I don't like how the black sugar milk drinks don't have any tea, so today I tried the mango sago drink. It wasn't sweet enough (I didn't make any sugar adjustments) and had a strong plastic taste to it and the sago was all mushy and clumped together. I also got the strawberry mochi drink, the base itself was a decent strawberry milk flavor with chunks of strawberry, but the mochi tasted like congealed glue that disintegrated in your mouth and left a gritty coating on my tongue. The store is set up in a way that discourages any interactions between the workers and customers, it was hard to get their attention through the whole setup my first visit to ask a question. There are a total of 3 chairs in the store, not a good spot for hanging out.
Stopped in on a trip up to Rockville. Super quick stop so that was good. Decent boba! Had the coffee and the brown sugar made it sweet and creamy
We happened upon this Boba spot while shopping at the Cost Plus World Market nearby. The shop is relatively small with only a few seats. This was our first time visiting and found that they have a wide variety of drink options. My daughters (9 & 11) got the Taro drink and I got the Matcha. We did not care for the drinks at all. In fact we did not finish our drinks which is rare. They were way too sweet and the heavy sweet taste messed up the flavor of the Taro and the Matcha. Glad we tried it but won't be back. Not our taste.
I'm a fan! I've passed by this place so many times. Since I was in the area, I stopped in today to try them out. They don't have a super wide range of options but just enough. The employee I engaged with was very helpful. I did the number 4 - tiger coffee latte. It was nice and smooth, on the sweeter side but not overly sweet! I'll be back to try some of their other selections. There's some indoor seating, but the space is a bit narrow. I took mine to go. Shook it up and indulged. The prices are decent!
First time trying Tiger Sugar and I was disappointed in my drink. With tax, I paid over $8 and my strawberry slush drink wasn't as pictured, which was more like a smoothie or even soft serve. My drink was watered down (not icy) and too sweet, so I went back and they gave me another with more ice and less sweet. I thought the sweetness was the same and there was more ice, but it still didn't look like what was in their photo. I also was hoping for a fresh strawberry taste, which this didn't have. The boba was perfectly soft and chewy, just wish there was a little more than given. Customer service was fast and friendly and the store was kept neat and clean.
Love the product! They have a limited selection but if you like brown sugar bubble tea, this is your place. The tapioca balls and custard were soft and had a good mouthfeel. You order from a touchscreen next to the register and the drink is made very quickly. There are only a couple tables with chairs in the front of the store (inside) which lends itself to being ideal for carry out.
Hate to drop my rating... but a few things have transpired since my last review: -they added a convenience fee, which is mandatory if you are paying by credit card -the kiosk checkout automatically adds 18% tip so if you click too fast you will miss it -in general the place is not regularly wiped down despite lack of customer I do still like their brown sugar drinks. I tried their #7 which is with red bean and like it a lot. But with taxes and the convenience fee, a regular drink is pretty much $7 now. There is just too much competition in the area to have prices like this. Places like Tea-do have a modern vibe and have late hours. And Gong Cha has a lot more options. Many other bubble tea places also now have brown sugar boba drinks. Tiger Sugar is losing its competitive edge.
Came here in a Saturday night, service was very quick and friendly. I ordered the Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl + Coffee Latte with Cream Mousse. The drinks were crafted perfectly. Love the creamy, slightly sweet and perfect balance of coffee flavor! The only thing I'd have to comment on is the pearls being softer than I'd like and not enough of the chewy consistency. Atmosphere was very chill, although there are not many tables here, so seatings is limited if you're looking to hangout.
I have mixed emotions about Tiger Sugar. Their milk tea options are quite limited compared to their boba competitors. The actually place is tiny, only 3/4 tables and it is meant for more grab and go which is fine. I ordered the regular Tiger sugar tea and it was incredibly sweet. The boba plus the pearls and the brown sugar drizzle on the sides of the cup is very overwhelming and there was no option to do less sweetener when ordering on the tablet. I appreciate how fresh the milk itself tastes and the option to do milk alternatives, but I do not plan on coming back unfortunately m.

This place is located near the Trader Joe's and the Microcenter in Rockville. Not my favorite center to be in because the traffic is horrendous most of the time, but what can you do? I came by because I heard so much about this brand that I just had to try it. It is a small place and you only come here to get take out. They make it quickly and you can just grab and go. They are nice here and they helped me navigate the menu because it all looked the same to me. I guess I am at the stage where I am bubble tea fatigued. There are just so many bubble tea places in Rockville! Way too many now. Anyways, this brand brings something else to the table and that's why it is popular. You get the more gritty type brown sugar that is then slathered along the side and you need to shake it so it incorporates. The taste gives it something more full bodied, which I think pairs nicely for the colder weather rather than light and fruity for the summer weather. read more

Is it worth the hype (and the $6)? Based on the lines stretching outside the door, the customers buying multiple teas to go, and my daughter's opinion, I'd have to give it a qualified "YES." The tea was strong, sweet, and creamy, and featured two different sizes of boba. Unfortunately, they don't offer any fruit-flavored options, but the owner says they're planning to. Shake it up if you want a smooth, consistent blend, or you can do what my daughter does and go straight to the bottom of the cup for an intense initial jolt of brown sugar and boba. read more
I've never been big on milk teas (prefer the fruit teas) but this was probably as good as it gets! Really delicious, really beautiful drinks. I have tried their standard milk brown sugar drink, and also their mango pomelo sago. Both were great! The reason I am only giving 4 stars is that the price is very high and the cup size is smaller than expected. Give them a try! read more
I wish that they would expand the brand to include more flavors, but knowing that they're a bubble tea shop that specializes in brown sugar flavors, they're very good at their niche. They have great bubbles that have been consistently perfect every time -- freshly warm, just the right amount of chewy, and with honey-like sweetness. They only have flavor adjustments for the non-specialty drinks, and even then the adjustments are only at 0% or 50%. Since I personally don't really like sweet drinks I just go for the 0% green tea latte, but with the touch of sweetness from the bubbles I find 0% sugar drinks fine. I tried 50% sugar once and it was still too sweet. It's somewhat pricey at about $5.90 for a drink but they do give you a pretty large size. The service has always been pretty good and fast, I think it's mostly energetic young people who work here. read more

I love coming to tiger sugar, not sure why i don't go more often! The place is small but no one really sits down and drink there, so it is not too bad. The drinks are always good, a bit too sweet in my opinion but I don't complain since I love sweet. I tried to mochi one instead of the signature drink this time and I like it. This is my favorite bubble tea place in the area. I have tried many bubble tea's around DC and Bethesda/Rockville area and I can honestly say that this is a treat for me. It's almost like a dessert, so if that's not something you like then maybe pick somewhere else but if you're into sweet bubble tea, this is the best I've tried will definitely be going back when I need a little pick me up and even though the price point is a little steep. I definitely think it's worth it. We tried the brown sugar and the mango mochi, and they were both really great I would recommend to anyone. read more

Luckily we came in at a good time when the place was empty. We got their #1 signature drink and it was pretty good. Usually brown sugar milk teas tend to be so sweet for me, but I was pleasantly surprised how it didn't taste that way. For the price though I wish there were more customizable options like adding less ice and adjusting sweetness. Overall I liked it and service was fast. read more

This place was a lot of fun and the boba was perfect! It was just the right mix of sweet and chewy. They have a ton of options that are also delicious, so while the black sugar is a timeless classic, you won't go wrong with other, fruitier choices. I recommend their new Strawberry Mochi flavor, but get it fast because I think it might be a limited-time flavor. Service was fast and friendly, they were even kind enough to let me use the "employees-only" bathroom. read more

Keeping it short and to the point: For black sugar boba, Tiger Sugar is the best I've tried and I've been to plenty of bubble tea places. The interior is the size of a shoebox with a handful of seats. One of the greatest downsize to this place is not being able to make adjustments to the sugar level. read more

Always love tiger sugar. They are expanding their menu and finally have larger cup size option! I ordered their original #1 which is brown sugar boba and pearl. Did not disappoint! I also tried their strawberry mochi milk tea and matcha brown sugar milk tea and both were really good! Only thing is a tiger sugar brand issue which is customizations. Couldn't swap out toppings or adjust sugar levels. But still, TS will be TS. Will be back again! read more
I should've had my drink immediately, instead of wait until later into the day. I was bummed because I knew this was my fault and my drink would have been soo much better had I drank it sooner. I'm sure the flavor was delicious though! There were so many options I wanted to try, but I decided to go with their classic drink just so that I had a baseline to make a comparison to other Boba tea places with a similar flavored drink. Inside was pretty packed, probably due to how great their drinks are. there wasn't a whole lot of space either. The line to order your drink was a little cramped alongside the back wall, and there wasn't much space to wait considering how busy they were at the time. Top favorite boba store! They sell the original brown sugar boba! Very fresh boba and milk flavors. Recently they've come out with more drinks such as the brown sugar taro boba milk and the mango pomelo sago! Flavors on point!! Brown sugar concoctions boba finally came to Moco! Nice cute set up, you walk in order at counter. Oh no online/phone order at this time, must come in. Also for those of you who likes to adjust sugar level, ice etc, they come as is- but no worries, I think their drinks are perfect just the way they are. I've visited 3 different times the past 2 weeks.. and have tried 3 different drinks.. all great. You're into all the brown sugar stuff, this is the place. The boba that comes with the drinks are 2 different sizes, regular and smaller ones (like popping boba size) . I think it's great to actually have the 2 different textures and oh yeah they are chewy and perfect. Quoting a friend who came with me "think they have the best boba pearls" :). A little tip: be careful punching your straw after shaking 15 times as instructed.. lol maybe my friend shook too many times that her drink exploded on her. We love the tiger sugar in Las Vegas so had to try this one out. We got the tiger sugar number 1 and 2 and a mango sago drink. They were as good as we remembered. I prefer the usual one with boba and Pearl. The service disappointed me though. The guy who took my order asked if I needed a holder for the drinks. I said yes. When the girl called my name she just pushed the drinks out. When I asked for a holder she just gave me a look and put my drinks in a bag and didn't give me a holder. Why the attitude? The guy asked me already so it was noted I wanted a holder. She might have been having a bad day but it's not good customer service. read more

As good as any other Tiger Sugar location! Got my usual Signature Black Sugar Boba Milk + Pearl with Cream Mousse. I'm always impressed with how well they balance the flavors and sweetness. Not as sweet as other places with black sugar which is great. The Mango Sago also wasn't bad, but I felt like there was too many toppings so it barely felt like a drink. read more

Tiger Sugar has a small menu, but everything there is well made! The drinks are definitely aesthetically pleasing with the brown sugar stripes running down the cup. I also like the addition of tiger jelly, which is the little cubes beside the boba. I think this place is slightly more expensive compared to other bubble tea shops in the area, but I know Tiger Sugar has a big following and people are willing to support. So glad to finally have one in Rockville! Tiger sugar is known for their brown sugar milk teas with the signature Tiger stripes! Their brown sugar boba series are the best in town! Go for their signature number 1 or if you're Filipino, you may get a real kick out for their number 3 - they add chocolate malt which makes it taste like ovaltine/Milo. They also have some snacks there which I can't wait to get when I visit next. I'm intrigued and want to try the egg roll and the popcorn! Anyway, definitely give them a try! I am very disappointed, I have been coming to sugar tiger regularly i love the bubbles so much but yesterday I asked them for extra bubbles and they said no, they said they can't add extra even although I was willing to pay extra, They refused to add extra bubbles and were showing me the tablets for tips and i was what!!! Came here after an amazing dinner at Lao sze chuan since I was craving for some bubble tea and somehow what came to mind was tiger sugar since I hadn't had it since I was in New York. I had ordered their signature drink the brown sugar milk tea and honestly, it was alright. The one in New York tasted a lot better to me somehow since the boba tasted more fresh and the drink was more flavorful. Somehow this drink in particular tasted like warm milk than brown sugar and the boba tasted way too soft and not chewy which was so disappointing! It might also be because I came near closing, but I might give this place another try since I'm craving the same taste I got from New York! Also, what gave me a star down was that there was a very disturbing customer in the store talking/yelling about his jail time which made me feel uncomfortable and the fact that he approached me and other customers, but it's not the shops fault that this person was being disturbing. Although, I did wish the shop to at least ask him to leave for the safety of their customers. But overall, would definitely give this place another go since I love the tiger theme going on! read more
A second location of Tiger Sugar in the DMV and I'm ecstatic! This is where you need to get your next Black Sugar bubble tea because that is what they specialize in. This location is great because they have a ton of parking and it's inside of a plaza with many store's to shop in. Customer service here is amazing and is owned by a local here in the DMV. What is up Yelp community!? So I had the opportunity to try out this brand new boba store in Moco - Tiger Sugar. So I've tried this once before in NYC awhile back and remembered it was pretty good but wanted to it once I found out it was coming right here to Rockville. I tried both the original and the chocolate malt bobas and yo they knocked it out of the PARK! The drink was phenomenal and I was surprised how fresh everything was along with the consistency of the boba texture. I even had the honor of meeting the owner Steve and we chatted a bit about the rise of boba within the community. Overall, I would highly recommend checking this place out you won't regret it! This is my second time getting this at this location, after getting it non stop in Taiwan(original store). Unfortunately, I think when the brand transitioned from Taiwan to the states, some shortcuts were taken. - the caramelized sugar flavor is much less intense, maybe they're not cooking the Taiwanese black sugar anymore? Or substituting something else in its place - the creme is not as thick and luxurious, not sure if they're still using it? Or maybe less is utilized - boba is ok, not as intensely flavored since it didn't soak up the flavors of the sugar. Unfortunately, competition is fierce in the northern. Virginia/md area, and this place is just another boba tea shop and not distinctive enough. Definitely did not live up to its reputation and flavors that I have come to enjoy. There are many other places in the area that offers something similar, I suggest looking else where or even right across the street. read more

Finally got to try the famous Tiger Sugar! My husband, baby and dog in tow ventured out on a Saturday afternoon after Thanksgiving to get this sweet treat! I have been dying to try this plac since they opened their first location in MD at Ellicott City! But glad they opened one closer to VA! There wasn't a long line but it was quite a wait for my order. The wit wasn't bad and the group making the drinks were so nice and friendly. It was challenging talking to the cashier as I felt like he was new and wasn't familiar with any of the drinks. I was so excited when they called out my number "71" - I scooted my short fangirling butt over to grab my drink. Finally, an original Taiwanese Bubble Tea (so I was told)!!!! The drink was huge, next time I will ask for no ice. The boba was chewy and just the right amount of sweet. There was a mix of small sized boba and regular boba which was a delicious surprise! Overall, the drink was good. And I think you have to try Tiger Sugar at least once! read more

My favorite drink is the #4 coffee brown sugar with tiger jelly. I tried the new mango drink though, and it was surprisingly good!! Tiger sugar is known for their milk teas, but they did it right with this one. There are so many different toppings in the drink, giving it a whole lot of texture. It still tastes like real mango too! My only gripe is that there's only one size, and it comes with a steep price tag for a drink. read more

If you think I came here for the hype, I sure did! The aesthetically pleasing drink + another boba spot in Rockville? You really can't go wrong with that combo. I ordered the popular #1 drink as a baseline for when I go back to try others. There is no room for modifications, so every drink comes as is. The ice level and sweetness level were ok as expected. At this price point, I wish the cups were bigger because I definitely finished my drink in five minutes. I enjoyed that the bubbles were a perfect consistency and the brown sugar flavor was nice, close to a popping bubble. I would not rank this as my top boba spot, but I would definitely return based on location convenience in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's. read more
