It has been a few years since I've visited Salt Lake City, so it was nice to be back. Every time I'm town, it has become a tradition to grab a boba at Tiger Sugar. They make the best brown sugar boba with pudding. It's the pudding that gets me hooked each time! On this particular visit, I tried the taro pudding boba. It was good, but not as great as my usual drink. This is one instance where it's good to stick with what you love! This is one of those grab and go shops where there are no seating spots. My daughter and I had lunch in the area so we decided to check out this shopping strip after. I noticed that there was a tea shop on the other side but they were closed. So we made our way into the supermarket portion of the strip. I really wanted a fruit tea before we headed to our Airbnb. I was initially going to go to 85 degree bakery. I went to one in Houston, TX last year and had a really good frozen coffee. My daughter saw this joint right before it so we decided to try this joint out since I have never had it. This was quite the menu! I haven't seen these tea options before and honestly I was intrigued! Back home, our tea options are pretty basic. Tea with some sort of fruit option. Or regular milk tea with brown sugar boba pearls. I wish I would have known about this joint sooner! I could have done my research and tried something I have never had. I'm here for a few more weeks and I'm definitely trying a drink off their milk series. I did order the peach green tea with peach pieces and tea jelly. The gal that was helping me today was mehhhh. She was there. She took my order and that was pretty much it. Not real interaction of any sort. Not a "hey, how are you today?" She asked the basic drink questions that were needed to make my drink and got to making it. My tea was fantastic! You can taste the earthiness of the green tea. It was sweet from the peach. The tea jelly pieces were soft. I enjoyed the chunky pieces of peach in every sip. It was just what I needed after my meal. I'm always down to try boba tea joints. It was great running into this place while we were roaming around. Pho Salt Lake is in this same venue as this joint. I'm planning on eating there while I'm in town so I will be making my way back to Tiger Sugar to get me a drink off their milk series. I'm looking forward to it! read more

Drinks were delicious and I love how you can order at a kiosk and be notified via text message when it's done! It's convenient to order and then look around the plaza. There's a table you can stand at and drink but I usually like to take mine to go. My favorite drinks are the Mango Sago, black sugar milk with boba and cheese mousse golden Oolong tea. I have been wanting to try Tiger Sugar for awhile but the line is always too long, this location had a line but we didnt have to wait that long fortunately. The tiger sugar menu isn't the most extensive since they focus on brown sugar drinks. They have brown sugar milk drinks, brown sugar coffee, and some green / black tea brown sugar drinks. They don't have any fruity tea drinks or slushies . They have one mango sago drink. I got the coffee brown sugar drink. It was pretty good! Almost all of my trips to Chinatown plaza this past year have ended with an order of #1 brown sugar boba + pearl milk with cream mousse. It's my favorite drink here and boba drink in SLC. Tiger Sugar is located inside the Chinatown plaza and is right next to the supermarket indoors. Ordering is easy and quick at the kiosk screens or at the counter. The length of the line varies depending on the time and day, but I've never had a wait that was unbearable - the staff are very good at being efficient with making the drinks. The shop has some decorations inside that are great for photographing and also a tv showing Tiger Sugar content while you wait. The drink menu has grown a lot since they first opened a year ago. They carry a variety of boba drinks that range from the milky side to refreshing teas, and they have some fruity options as well. I am happy that Tiger Sugar opened up a branch in SLC because their drinks are so good. No wonder they have so many branches worldwide! Their boba is always cooked perfectly with a nice amount of chew without being undercooked or overcooked. I like that the boba is cooked in brown sugar so that it has some taste of its own and doesn't rely on the sweetness of the drink. The milk tea is very creamy and luxurious. Mmm... Huge fans of their milk tea! It's really yummy and my boyfriend thought it was one of his favorite milk teas ever. We got it with mixed size boba (large and small) and enjoyed every last sip of it. The location is in the Chinatown supermarket plaza, so depending on time and day, it can be really busy here and hard to get parking. It is kiosk ordering and then counter pick-up of the drink when it's made. I thought it was quite efficient, but sometimes people who are having trouble with understanding how to use the kiosk can hold up the line. As far as ambiance goes, there aren't really places to sit so definitely be prepared to get your drink and leave. We will definitely be back again to enjoy more of their delicious milk tea and boba! read more

Was very excited to see this place in Salt Lake after moving from Los Angeles where, arguably, the best boba in the US is. Finally tried today and was met with much disappointment. The basic requirement for any boba drink is to have good boba--meaning soft, chewy pearls. In my drink were hard and tough pearls, perhaps because I was unlucky to get the end of a batch or because this is reflective of how they make their pearls here. Either way, shouldn't be served to customers and a bad reflection of what boba should be to newcomers. Particularly at their price point. May think about giving this another shot down the line. I was very excited to learn how close this place is to my house! I've already been back multiple times since discovering it. My favorites on the menu are the #3, which is brown sugar boba milk with chocolate malt and cream mousse and the matcha boba. Both are so delicious, and I drink them so quickly! Tiger Sugar is located right inside the China Town Supermarket in South Salt Lake, which is home to a large market and several other businesses and restaurants. Parking can be tricky in this area - the parking lot is small and this area gets pretty busy throughout the day. Based on other reviews I've read, it sounds like it Tiger Sugar can get quite a long line and longer wait times during the peak hours or the day. The few times I've gone are right when they open or just before closing and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes between ordering and receiving my drink. read more

This is one of the better bubble tea shops in Salt Lake City. It's located in Chinatown, next to the China market. I've been there twice so far and I think most of their drinks are sweeter than other Tiger Sugar. We tried to request lowering the sugar level to less than 50% (like what we usually do with other Tiger Sugar stores) but they were not able to accomodate such request. Their cream cheese foam tastes quite artificial so I'd suggest against that. However, they make good bobas so if you're craving for bubble tea in SLC, I'd still say - give it a try! read more

My fiancé and I visited for the first time today and were blown away! It's right inside the Chinatown market (parking is crazy on a Saturday afternoon). The restaurant is inside to the left. The decor is really fun to look at. I loved the stuffed tiger :) Ordering was soooo easy! There's a touchpad to the right of the register. You order and pay there. When your order is ready, they call your number. There were quite a few people ahead of us, but it didn't take long to get our drinks. Both of our drinks were delicious! He got the brown sugar boba with tiger jelly and I got the one with espresso. We've had boba before, but didn't know we were drinking it wrong until now. There was a sign (and a video playing on the tv) that said the boba needs to be shaken 15 times. We had no idea! I've always stirred mine, but slightly shaking it was sooo much more efficient. We learned something today! The employees were really nice and helpful when we had questions (even though they were busy). We really like this place and would love to come again! read more

There's soooo much HYPE about this place I just had to drive all the way to Salt Lake county just to see what the craziness was about! Arrived on their grand opening day, but about 7:30pm and the line was easily twenty to thirty minutes long. The menu is pretty simple, but yet super enticing! Tried all of their drinks on the menu (the milk sugar boba drinks, not the tea) and....not only was I impressed, it was like drinking boba for the very first time (and I'm a boba connoisseur) in my life and my taste buds EXPLODED!!! My favorite is their #1 - Black sugar boba + pearl milk + cream mousse. It's their signature drink (as it should be!) and I can easily drink two of these in one sitting! The problem was, I bought one, then took a stroll in the Chinatown supermarket (while sipping on it) then quickly realized Dangit I should've gotten two!! When I checked out with my groceries, at 8:30pm, another 30 to 40 people were in line, half an hour before they close....CRAP! So, went back two days later and bought 8 at one time LOL! #3 was too sweet (with chocolate), #4 was def refreshing, and #5 was a pleasant surprise with flan/custard in it. These boba drinks are the best I've had when it comes to quality, lightness, boba being super fresh (super soft when they are fresh) and the pearls having two different sizes, small and big boba pearls in the drink - you never know what ur gonna get with each sip - keeps it exciting! But most importantly, their sugar boba drinks (with the exception of #4) has no caffeine or tea in it so it's awesome! Instant FAN over here and praying they open up one in Utah county!! read more

This cool Tiger Sugar company is in the heart of Salt Lake City's Chinatown Store. Saturday is a crazy day to visit... parking may be on the grass! This place definitely has the best Boba in town. Hands down. It's also a fun place to visit. Goodness knows Salt Lake City needs more culture, so come here and get something different and fun. I got the #5 which has vanilla pudding in it. I was so excited to hear the famous Tiger Sugar had come to Utah! They are inside a shopping area with a grocery store, a bakery, and some other little food shops. They have a simple menu, and I ordered the coffee milk tea with boba. It comes with 2 different kinds of boba, one is smaller and one is bigger which I hadn't seen before. I also noticed there was a large amount of ice, which made the drink go quickly and made it hard to get all of the boba at the bottom of the cup. Aside from this, my drink was delicious!!! They do have a kiosk you can order yourself but since this was a Yelp event I wanted to make sure I got my drink! There is about 10 drinks to order from. It's not your typical boba place that lets you customize your drink. I would have to agree with some others on this page and the other page. That customer service was ok. Nothing special. Wasn't greeted. Maybe overwhelmed with the amount of people? But there wasn't a lot to me. Ordered 2 drinks Not a long wait at all. - Taro with boba And a oolong tea with boba The taro drink had this grainy texture and we did not like it. It had no taro flavor. It's like the milk coagulated. Weird. Not sure if it had to do with us having to shake it 15 times. They have a sign that says shake 15 times. We didn't count but maybe next time we should. I was so excited trying this place, especially with boba taking over Utah. I didn't come during the grand opening to avoid the long line, so I waited a few days. There was a long line, but not as hectic as the grand opening. I ordered the signature drink since I am basic and I don't know what to choose. My brother ordered the one with the pudding. The drink was tasty but too sweet for my liking (I mean duh, it did say sugar). I wanted to adjust my sugar and ice like I always do with my bubble tea, but they don't have that option. Also, they just offer 5 items on the menu, so that's why I took 1 star out. I love that you can shake the drink, which makes the experience fun. However, I do love how fresh the tapioca pearls are. You can feel the warmth from it when you're holding the drink. The pearls are chewy and soft, just the way I like it. You can't shake a tree in salt lake with out a boba shop falling out. Tiger sugar is definitely on the better end of the spectrum as far as consistency and flavors. I enjoy their cheese foam and boba consistency. The drinks have always been quick and service has been ok. I don't believe that they are the best boba shop in town, but for their convenience and simple format, they do well. I've had Tiger Sugar in NorCal before and was honestly very surprised that they decided to open a location in Utah!! Tiger Sugar is known for its brown sugar boba, however, I am not a fan of brown sugar boba, so I actually don't get boba drinks here. But they added a mango sago drink and that is my go-to drink here! Mango Sago is a popular Hong Kong dessert, it is usually made with diced mango, pomelo, sago, coconut milk, and milk. This was my first time visiting Tiger Sugar, and I'm a fan! It's located inside the Chinatown shopping center on the west side of the supermarket entrance. I came right before closing time but they were still happy to serve me which I appreciated. I went with the #5 Tiger Meets Pudding which has black sugar boba, pudding and cream mousse. It wasn't as sweet as I expected, but that was definitely a good thing because I didn't get sick of it after a few sips. It was the perfect boba drink after not having one in so long! They hit the jackpot on location since Chinatown has grown by leaps and bounds but their drinks are overpriced and inauthentic. The drinks are served more like boba desserts than boba milk teas. The tea is not strong at all and there's no option to customize the level of sweetness or ice. The first 4 options are decent but their new menu items are a total miss, especially the strawberry mochi. Their strawberry mochi smoothie has got to be one of the worst boba drinks i've ever had in my life. It's so dense and heavy for a "boba drink" and has an awful combination of flavors and textures. If you are a boba snob, go elsewhere, pay way less for strong tea and customizable ice and sweetness. Theres another boba spot 1 minute walk away next to the hotpot place that is way more affordable, has more options, friendlier service, customizable ice and sweetness, seatings and board games. TLDR: they picked a great location and are always busy because of it, but that's all they did right. Their drinks are overpriced and non-customizable. I am giving this place 5 stars for the following reasons: * service was very friendly, polite, and informative * prep area and serving counter were *very* clean * they have a self-order kiosk option in addition to counter service for faster service * servers were masked and wrapped my drink in plastic * They provided a biodegradable straw (which didn't disintegrate or get soggy at all) * the décor and ambience were colorful and appealing * they have carved out a niche fusing coffee flavors and boba, something unique and interesting * drinks can be had cold, warm or hot Now on to my drink: The flavors of my drink were strong and tasted wonderful together. After asking two members of the staff for their favorite, I selected the #1 (black sugar boba + pearl milk with cream mousse) served cold. I was initially skeptical about the flavors working together but they really did compliment each other. I was advised to shake the drink (15 times according to staff and signs) prior to drinking and that resulted in a very smooth drink without spikes and valleys of different flavors. The tapioca pearls weren't frozen in my drink in any way (thank god) and next time I will add the tiger jellies as well. They did not load up the drink with too much ice either, something I'm loathe to have to my drink. I give this place five stars and heartily recommend this place to my friends, family, and anyone reading this review. Unpopular Take... Don't order hot drinks. Cold boba is tasty for sure. Easy order screen. The order was out in the estimated time, but was wrong. The issue we had was with the hot drinks. We ordered one hot drink and they had forgotten it. When they called our number they only had cold drinks. As they corrected our order we waited longer, in total 20 minutes from start to finish.
