Luckily, today I was in the area with my best friend to get a massage, and it was only about 10 minutes away from where we were, so we decided to stop by. The egg tarts here were honestly as good as people had said they were. They were delicious, and I especially loved how affordable they were. The staff was also very nice, and the restroom was so clean. The parking sign said that parking was free for 2 hours, but we only stayed for about 10 minutes to grab and eat our egg tarts. My friend said that after parking there, she met the owner of a restaurant next door, who told her that the parking is actually only free for 1 hour. Either way, we left after about 10 minutes because it was almost time for our massage appointment. Today, I bought 2 egg tarts for my friend, and I also bought 6 more to take home and enjoy with my family tomorrow morning. While we were there, my friend and I each ate one, and they were really delicious! I definitely think I'll come back again the next time I'm in this area.

They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. I don't know many places that sell these, and I used to eat them all the time when my grandma made them years ago, but now that no one in my family knows how to make them, it's a special treat if I can find it. They have ones with meat (with or without peanuts), and some with just the mung bean. They must be really know for this because 2 other parties ahead of me were buying tons of the tamales!

TGTG is an app that allows businesses to sell their leftover or flawed goods for a discounted price in a bundle of their choice. So you don't know what you get, BUT it reduces food waste (#sustainability) while being easier on your wallet. You pay a price they name and they give you the value they listed. The owner (I presume) handed us a prepackaged brown bag the moment we got there. It wasn't busy at all so the whole transaction was under 5 minutes. It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. However, I would say these days $3 would get you bigger buns at other similar bakeries, but their fillings were very generous, so it's hard to say. Parking has spots designated to the bakery so look out for the signs.

A moment later, another employee did turn around to acknowledge me, but by then I had already decided to leave. The shop also had a strong odor that made the atmosphere less inviting for me. Because I didn't end up ordering anything, I can't comment on the quality of the coffee. Based on the menu, it seemed fairly straightforward, but without trying it, I can't give an opinion on the drinks themselves. Hopefully others have a better experience, but unfortunately, the overall atmosphere just wasn't for me.

The cake pick up process is very straightforward-- they just require you to bring the receipt that you got when you paid. They are on time with the cake pick up times, and the cakes always come out fresh and light! I've had the taro egg pudding, mango egg pudding, and I think the strawberry egg pudding one. The taro and mango egg pudding cakes were so yummy! The cakes have 3 layers and they have the fillings in between. The egg pudding isn't as fragrant as I'd hoped since you can barely taste it as the other flavors are stronger, but it gives the cake a nice moist layer. I also enjoy their breads. The size and price are still good and they accept card payments! Bakery is clean and organized. They have a small seating area if you get drinks and dessert and want to sit down. They do charge for a bag, so bring one if you plan to buy multiple breads to save on that $$.

Our initial interactions with James was great--he is a genuinely kind person--but the final product was not what we expected. The biggest issue was the wedding cake itself. It looked nothing like the inspiration photo we had provided. We ended up making last-minute changes because we were so unhappy with how it looked. There also wasn't any check-in leading up to the wedding to review the final design. While we certainly could have reached out ourselves, I also think it's reasonable to expect some proactive communication from the vendor before creating such an important centerpiece. Beyond the appearance, the cake itself was very dry and lacked much flavor (many of our guests complained). On the positive side, guests said the ice cream was delicious and they liked the other mini desserts but I don't believe it was enough.. One additional note is that I don't believe two staff members were necessary for setup and breakdown, especially since that also required providing two vendor meals.
