D'ange Bakery is an Asian bakery located on the corner of Mission x Main St. (that turns into Las Tunas). There's a small parking lot in the back, but spaces can be hard to find and I ended up having to park on the street the first time I went. (FYI - they are going to open a Goomo tea shop on the corner in the same space!) D'ange has so many fun flavors of buns. I really liked the taro with mochi one. The only thing about the buns is that the fillings tend to be only on one side of the bun, so there are been times as I'm biting into the bun, I'm not getting any filling until the last couple bites. They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. I don't know many places that sell these, and I used to eat them all the time when my grandma made them years ago, but now that no one in my family knows how to make them, it's a special treat if I can find it. They have ones with meat (with or without peanuts), and some with just the mung bean. They must be really know for this because 2 other parties ahead of me were buying tons of the tamales! read more

01/30/26 Friday Came around 10:30 AM to pick up a Too Good to Go (TGTG) order. TGTG is an app that allows businesses to sell their leftover or flawed goods for a discounted price in a bundle of their choice. So you don't know what you get, BUT it reduces food waste (#sustainability) while being easier on your wallet. You pay a price they name and they give you the value they listed. The owner (I presume) handed us a prepackaged brown bag the moment we got there. It wasn't busy at all so the whole transaction was under 5 minutes. It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. However, I would say these days $3 would get you bigger buns at other similar bakeries, but their fillings were very generous, so it's hard to say. Came here looking to see if i could get a cake without preordering and they said yes! There were a few in display that you could choose from. I ended up choosing the lychee sakura and it was super yummy. Not too sweet, floraly and had peach fruits in it. They let you choose the toppers and she added bees in it to make it look better.. There's a dedicated parking lot and spots for bakery customers. I would say all their pastries tasted good, except their sugar cookie. The cookie was more on the dense and sweet side for my taste. All the pastries were filled with a generous amount of filling. A lack of forethought left me scrambling to find a good birthday cake for my kid (the bakery I planned to visit -- and the backup -- were both closed that day). So we came here to see if there's a nice cake the birthday girl would like. The choice was a hard one. That day they had the following cake flavors available: black sesame, lychee rose, hojicha, Oreo, taro, and taro ube. The birthday girl chose lychee rose, which was delicate, floral, and not too sweet. The cake was light and fluffy, and the whipped cream frosting like a cloud. And the kids fought over the pieces of lychee on top. But that was later. While we were in the store, the staff put the cake we chose in a beautiful clear box, decorated it further, and tied it up nice and tight with a ribbon. This make transporting the cake easier -- the cake did not move at all during the car ride home. (Although we did have to drool the whole way home because we could see that cake right there in the clear box!) As we were leaving, we saw their selection of decorated cookies, including those with labubus and k-pop demon hunters characters that are all the rage with the kids. So we got a couple of those too. Super not sure how to feel about this place. They do some thick "toasts" that are basically fancy thick slices of bread, actually quite good (and priced accordingly). Sponge cake was just okay. Croissants did not look great, but they had a massive chocolate chip cookie that was tempting (sadly I had to resist). I was looking to buy a Birthday Cake for my partner from an Asian-style Bakery and was passing through SGV visiting a friend and his family. Around the corner from his home was D'ange. When we first got inside (entering from rear as that's where the parking lot is), I was worried they didn't have cakes because the bulk of the store was set up to display breads and small pastries but towards the front was a small display case full of beautiful (but small) cakes. FYI - The breads we passed did look very good and we picked up a few curry buns, taro breads and coffee breads to go. We asked the employee which cakes were what flavors and which ones were available to buy (as many has sales slips tucked underneath). The employee kindly told us what we wanted to know and we settled on the black sesame since that was the most common cake with sales slips (so you figure it'd be good, right?). After picking the cake, the employee packaged the cake with a birthday sign, a candle and cutter and rang up our purchase. I wouldn't be surprised if she was the owner, she was very sweet and attentive. At our party later that evening, everyone loved the cake though many of wished there was maybe more cake and less frosting on the top and sides. The inner black sesame frosting layer itself was excellent though, that's the one frosting we wished there was more of. Overall very happy with the cake and wished I lived closer to go to D'ange more often. I guess I'll have to visit my friend more often! read more

Other items I've had was Pineapple bun, Matcha cookies, and Curry Beef Puff. All are fresh and delicious. All the pastries are made fresh in-house daily. They have a small section of day old pastries that they sell for a lot less. The Curry beef puff is very tasty. This was delicious!! Taro bun is soooo good and the bread part is elastic and moist!! All buns here are moist and fdmmmly made!! The Matcha cookies are my fave. Mildly sweet, buttery, and very Earthy, rich Matcha taste (I like my Matcha strong). The lady at the counter is very sweet. Holy C**p ! I'm in love with their cake! I've only tried the strawberry shortcake so far and I'm in love. It is a 6" white cake covered in really fluffy meringue and buttercream frosting - the only kind I really like. There are massive strawberries on top sprinkled with powdered sugar. When you cut into the cake, there is more frosting/cream and strawberries in between the 3 cake layers. The cakes stand at about 4". The lady (lead baker? owner?) let me pick the Happy Birthday signage to stick on the cake, and then she boxed it up nicely in this clear box and lacy printed ribbon. She says their bestsellers are actually their unusual flavors like tarot, black sesame, red bean, and tarot+ube. I can see how these special flavors put them on everybody's radar when checking out bakeries in SG. The cakes are on the expensive side, double the price of an 85deg cake (which are 8" diameter usually). But if you're out to impress in-laws, your bosses, some new posh friends, this is probably a nice gift that will show 'em the classy person you are. Worth every dollar! I had been eyeing the black sesame cake on FB's SGV Eats for a while, so I knew I wanted it for my birthday this year. The owner was incredibly kind--it felt like chatting with an old friend. She shared that she took over the bakery less than a year ago and also owns Love to Go Café nearby. When she asked if I wanted a theme for my cake, I chose an African safari since I had just returned from a trip to Africa. The cake turned out absolutely adorable, decorated with animal cutouts, and my friends all raved about how delicious and flavorful the black sesame was. For reference, the cake was 6 inches, cost $68, and was perfect for eight people--though if sliced a bit thinner, it could easily serve 10. We also picked up some bolo pineapple buns, milky buns, and curry pan to try. We saw this cute bakery across the street and had to check it out because the name reminded us of Japanese Swiss roll cake brand Orange. We thought maybe they will also have some roll cake for sale or other small individual cakes. The shop had that fresh baked bread yummy smell when we entered. James bought a Jalapeño Bread. I got a Mushroom & Ham Bun and a Ham & Cheese Bun (to eat on the airplane tomorrow). As I was paying, I saw the Custard Tarts in the warmer and got one to consume right there. It was on the eggy side. I've had other egg tarts that were creamier and sweeter. We we're driving by and I saw the cakes and had to stop in to check it out - this was such a wonderful surprise! Upon entering the smell of butter just encompasses you and you know you're in for a treat. The owner greeted us so warmly and I told her that her beautiful cakes caught my eye - She described every cake to me and we ended up getting a small lychee & rose cake. We also got a few treats to go as well and she was so helpful and literally described every item. The shop is clean, service is fantastic, but the best thing was that everything we got tasted delicious. Top tier bakery! The classic sponge cake was literally perfection- light, airy, lightly sweet and moist. The coffee bun is the flavor I've been chasing in a classic coffee bun that I haven't been able to find since my favorite coffee bun place closed - it was perfectly balanced and moist.
