We haven't eaten at tigers garden for over two years due to moving cross country, but if it's the same tigers garden we knew and loved then this Thai food is unbeatable. There's a dining room, and a bar area. The place has a nice, chilled out vibe. We used to enjoy casual drinks at the bar area, and delicious food in the dining area. Hands down the best Tom Yum I've ever had and we've been to 30 states. Would drive cross country for that Tom Yum! read more

initially we left the house with the goal of dinning out mexican. we were heading to a Taqueria that was recommended by an aquientence of mine. well come to discover that we went to the wrong location. after finding out that their was nothing we could eat at the frist location we headed to the second (correct) location and to our chagrin, their was nothing we could eat there neither.... it was getting late so we decieded to find a Thai restaurant to try. and after Googling we found Tigers Garden. it was a little bit late about 8 o'clock and I think Tigers Garden closes at 10 o' clock. so we felt comfortable and not rushed. got there and parking is street parking only.we got lucky and found a spot rite out front. both of us ordered papaya salads mines thai hot and housemates medium. he ordered grilled salmon I ordered panang curry veggies no tofu spiced hot. grilled salmon was served with peanut sauce all over it. housemate didnt care for it. although he said the salmon by it self was good...moist and delicious. my panang veggies were spiced very good . other then that it was average. the curry was a bit watery; and the veggies were all over cooked and tasted like they were heated up frozen veggies. not memorable. the papaya salads were good. spiced really good. portion was just ok. their were no green beans like we are accustomed to with most papaya salads. and the fish sauce was not noticeable. and being this is a Thai/Laotian restaurant. most Lao food uses stronger and more fish sauce. and here they did not so it was edible and enjoyable. the waitress was pleasant and made our visit pleasant. which was a nice touch. the only reason for the 2 stars is the meal over all was average nothing to make me want to rush back read more

Come on! Just taste the food that you cook! I'm from Thailand and there's nothing Thai about the way you guys cook here. Tom Yum soup? Just taste what you made and ask yourself, "Does this taste like Tom Yum soup?". That's just one example. I took my guests here whom never had Thai food and this was embarrassing. I had to ask them to give Thai food another try but not here. Unless you guys figure it out, maybe go taste how other Thai restaurants make their dishes, maybe take a trip to Thailand, or even watching YouTube videos on how to cook it. There's literally people in Thailand posting these videos. Just do something to fix the bad version of dishes you're serving. read more

Sadly I think this place is a no-go. The noodles are a disaster. Incomprehensibly dry. So dry they stick together in one big, dry lump. Without the normal sauce that makes the dish good... I guess that's what happens. So, unlike the noodles, you don't have to throw curries in the trash. They're just okay. But definitely not something you'd want to subject yourself to more than once. Not that it matters since the food isn't good but the portions are maybe 1/2 to 2/3 the size served at other area Thai places. read more

Worst Tom Kha soup I've ever had. A couple mushrooms and onions with some watery broth. No flavor no heat. Panang Curry was also flavorless with a couple chunks of cardboard chicken. I will never order from this establishment again. Please consider closing down your restaurant. read more

I came in with a party of 8 for lunch on a Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised we could be seated so quickly. However, the server was not even a little hospitable. One person at the table said "it seems like she hates her life". I felt like everything we asked her to do annoyed her. Not a very comfortable experience at all. They must have only had one chef working... our food came out in small waves, but with 15 minutes in between. By the time all of us got our food, some of the meals were already cold. We are pretty patient people, but our waitress didn't communicate with us. We thought she forgot about our food. The two stars are for the food. It was delicious! I'm NOT unbiased, since I eat lunch here once a week, but I still love the place. lunch specials are cheap and good. Watch the machismo if you order hot. They will light you up! This is the first time that I've written a review. Years ago, I remember enjoying the food here. Not this time. I had a stressful day at work and decided to walk over and treat myself. Pleasant enough welcome and seated. Table had fingerprints. No placemat. I asked for green tea, expecting it to arrive in a nice little teapot. She brought a mug and dipped a tea bag in a few times. $2.00 Lipton tea bag? Really? A bowl of soup seemed like a good choice. (Tom Kha, I think it was called.) Pretty tasteless except for the salt. The coconut milk had separated from the main broth, when I uncovered the dish for a second helping. The thin chicken slices tasted stale. The vegetables were almost non-existent, except for the carrots. I won't be returning. It's a great location. There are so many other good restaurants to choose from around town now. I never leave bad reviews but my food from here is so sad. I ordered two noodle dishes, and appetizer sampler, and salad rolls. The portions are tiny. Everything is bland and colorless. I ordered pad Thai and Mee Grati Gai - "a special preparation of medium size rice noodle with chicken, cilantro, carrots, lettuce, ground peanut and egg with coconut milk, spiced up with red curry sauce." As the picture shows that's not even close to what we got. My salad rolls looked like my 4 year old rolled them and were chunky lettuce with one tiny piece of tofu. The noodle dishes were just globs of stuck together rice noodles. So, so, sad. I usually order from a couple other local places but my husband has been wanting to try Tigers Garden for a long time. I rarely find the need to leave a yelp review on stuff, but this was by far the worst thai food I've ever had. The noodles were extremely stiff and were next to impossible to break apart enough to stir around the very small amount of toppings. The noodles were SO BLAND and coated in oil, the only bit of flavor on the whole dish came from the almost invisible amount of chicken. Excellent food and great service. The waitress was very kind and polite and catered to us very well. She was very accommodating. The food was hot and had good portion sizes. I ordered hot Thai Jasmine tea and it was amazing!! I loved it very much. The appetizer was tasty, we ordered tofu salad rolls. I think the prices were okay but if it was just a little cheaper, I would've been more happy. The recent negative reviews don't do this place any justice. Had dinner with a couple friends. Although we are in a pandemic, the bartender who was our waiter, did NOT want to be working. He was irate that our table did not wear masks as we were seated/eating. He served our table by sliding our food and place settings from the corner of the table....stretching his arm. He acted like a fool! The food quality was extremely poor - sour/grey coconut milk, only 3 shrimp in a shrimp meal and 4 cashews in a cashew meal. The price was double what I pay at other Asian restaurants. My husband and I discovered Tiger's Garden recently and it is now our favorite Thai restaurant. The setting is pleasant, peaceful but not elegant (consequently 4 stars rather than 5). The staff are friendly and provide good service. What really stands out is the food. The chef is a master of sauces. Between us, we have tried about 5 different dishes and every sauce is delicious but also different. I mean there is not just one or two basic sauce that is thrown onto whatever dish you order. NO! A different sauce for every dish. And we have found the proteins, including seafood, to be cooked perfectly. We just ate there yesterday and, as I write this review, I am already looking forward to our next visit. Give it a try. read more

I always get great service when I go there which is a plus since the food is just so yummy! I have been here several times and even when I sat in the patio, the servers were always checking on us. I recommend the Tom Kha soup. Yum! It's enough for two or just make this your meal. I always share it. The food portions are great and they offer levels of spicy. Here is my honest experience. I love the location, it's super convenient for a lunch during my work day since it's walking distance of Esther Short. I ordered the the Pra Ram Noodle with chicken. The chicken was absolutely disgusting! Extremely, extremely dry. And holy hell, it had a very strong freezer burn, old food taste. Couldn't eat it. Really, really poor quality. I won't be back. Missing ingredients in what I ordered. Everything was flavorless. Worst Thai food we have ever had delivered. Very expensive for very little food. The salad rolls were dull in flavor and did not include the peanut sauce. It was obvious that the vegetables that were in both dishes were not fresh but of the frozen kind. You know how precut vegetables look. It looked like that. The yakisoba dish did not come with yakisoba noodles, but chow mein noodles. The peanut sauce was good. The tom kha was a clear yellow broth soup. No coconut milk. Waitress argued their tom kha only had a little coconut milk and that was all it shud have. She said thy cud add more. So she took it back. Brot it back out and put on our table and said "Happy??" It tasted off. Like the coconut milk was bad. And it was cold. Thy poured in coconut milk & didn't bother to heat it. We refused to eat it. The curry was watery. Although it tasted ok. On the salty side but veggies were crisp. The portion was small. We each got 2 small bowls. We had asked for brown rice. Thy brot white. We waited for quite a while for brown and it came out it looked old and it was a small partial bowl. You will leave hungry. Portions on everything are VERY small for dinner - appetizers and entrees. Chicken Satay had four TINY pieces of chicken on skewers. Pad Thai had four small shrimp total, which they proudly lined up on the edge of the dish with a small heap of noodles in the middle. We asked them to remove the potatoes from a curry and add eggplant. They removed the potatoes but did not add the eggplant. When it came time to bring us our main course, they told us that they were out of white rice and only had brown rice as an option. Flavors are good but overpriced and small portions. Our pad Thai consisted of noodles and a few small chunks of tofu. Egg was nonexistent. The wonton soup has no veggies or other ingredients, only a few small wontons. You get a lot more for your buck at Ichi Teriyaki a block away. The wife and I decided to try a new place for delivery with the lockdowns, and we will never try this place again. We ordered two entrees and an order of garden rolls. They charged us for all 3 items, the driver only brought us 2, and the lady we talked to on the phone refused to send the second dish out. She never made the second dish, because she said didn't scroll down on the order listing. Somehow she still figured out how to charge us full price, and she said to ask Uber for the refund. That's garbage service. The food wasn't anything special. The garden rolls tasted like beansprout, their dipping sauce is that vinegar crap, and the curry my wife had undercooked vegetables in it. With the plethora of Thai places in Vancouver, I never have to eat here again. read more

Being that I am Thai it's hard at times to eat at places that you know your mother can cook better. Tigers garden was good but there were a few things that would help. Though the portions were a decent size, the flavors seemed rushed. The ambience of the restaurant has a Thai feel, but I think that there's more attention that was put on the Bar area. The prices were fantastic and the happy hour specials were great. The service was a little slow. I think they were short handed. All that aside, the staff was friendly, so that makes up for a lot. I wish they had served a spices with the food, it would give you a little more room to adjust it to your heat level. They will ask you how hot you would like it, but it's not 1-5 or 1-10, it's mild medium hot or extremely hot. I chose the medium hot, for me it was good, enough heat that tells you it's there without taking off the first layer of skin in your mouth! Lol. All in all it was a nice experience. Try them out, everyone's taste is different, but one thing is for sure, it's definitely Thai food! read more
