If you have never had Mexican food in your life and are starving please by all means eat here. The flautas are more like mini chimichangas, the filled was mushy. The taco salad and bowl were worse than school cafeteria food. It reminded me of canned chicken. I thought they had a salsa bar to go with their chips but it was a hot sauce bar. Why would you think hot sauce is the same as a salsa bar. It's not difficult to cut up some tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapeño, Serrano, onions, cilantro, and mix in a bowl people. The servers didn't look happy to be there and it's like they knew we knew what they knew we knew. It's not a fine dining kinda place, order at the counter and they bring the food. I guess it's fast food Tex Mex. Smaller sized place. Faster service. Absolutely the best chimichanga I have experienced. Always crispy and I always get the chicken. Filled with lots of chicken and cheese. Unfortunately they are now putting beans in the chimichangas . I just ask that I have the beans on the side. Works great. They have burritos, tacos Etc. They have a hot sauce bar that is really nice. This is a great spot if you are looking for fast Mexican food. The food is fresh and tasty. This is not Taco Bell. They do it right here. The thing that stands out about this particular location is the friendly staff. They are upbeat and very welcoming. They could teach classes on how to treat guests at a restaurant. When we first walked in, one of the doors is broken... and there was water all over the floor. The place was packed so we grabbed one of the open tables so that we could sit down while someone ordered the food. We have ate at Tijuana Flats before so I was familiar with the food but not this location. We got in line and ordered our food, the line actually went super quick. Those workers know exactly what they are doing. They are extremely efficient. Our food actually came out a lot quicker than I thought it was. It was all correct. That street corn bowl, steak, it is a special they have going on... It is the bomb. I highly recommend it. I definitely had reservations when we first got here but this restaurant is great. The staff was turning out orders so quick, there were so many people eating inside and having to go orders. I only knock off the one star for the water being all over the floor, I'm not really sure what happened... I don't know if the ceiling was leaking, obviously things like that are out of their control. The staff here definitely deserve a kudos because they were going around asking if anyone needed refills, trash was getting picked up as soon as people were done, tables were getting cleaned off as soon as the people left, and orders were being picked up left and right. read more

Being from southern California our standards for Mexican Food is pretty high. Craving some tacos and bowls and decided to try this place after a day on the beach. Place was packed with a line out the door - thinking this was a good sign the food was about to blow us away. That couldn't have been further from the truth. Seriously the most bland Mexican food we've ever had. Salsa - bland . Rice - bland (and crunchy!!). Blackened chicken - super bland. The visit turned out to be a huge disappointment. We really looked forward to this Tijuana Flats when we moved to Cocoa as we are frequent customers back in Orlando and what a let down. The food is great without a doubt (hence the one star) but the service is never good. We've come on a few occasions now and it's always the same. There is one cashier in particular that has brown hair who is just so unfriendly. She ruins my mood everytime I come here. On various occasions she has proven to lack customer service skills or general kindness. On one occasion I actually spoke to her manager because it made me uncomfortable how she snapped at a coworker and spoke to me. One of our favorite attributes about Tijuana is the atmosphere and cool/ friendly staff.... it's just not like that here. No one has offered to refill our drinks the numerous times we came. With all the awesome Mexican restaurants and another Tijuana Flats just a little further I think we will look elsewhere. I also think it's important to mention that parking is atrocious here. Just not a smart configuration. It's very difficult to find parking and they have all the front spaces reserved for pickup even though they do not deliver it to your car? For a fast casual place, Tijuana Flats is not a bad destination. No, the food is not the most offensive. However, it is a fun atmosphere and you get your food in a relatively fast manner. Tijuana Flats is a company that started in nearby Orlando, Florida and has expanded quite well. Again, this place is not the most authentic, but for fast casual (a nicer term than fast food), Tijuana Flats is a pretty good option. If you are a fan of hot and spicy, make sure you check out their hot sauce bar. They have some interesting hot sauces there. The staff here was friendly and I was able to get a nice meal for a good price and I was in and out the door in a relatively quick amount of time. Taking it to consideration that Tijuana Flats is by its very model offering a very Americanized version of Mexican food, the fact that it is fast casual and the overall price point, I will opt to give Tijuana Flats four stars. read more

2 Years ago TF was my go to place for awesome burritos, salads andTacos. The last few visits have not been inspiring.Burritos have very little chicken, and other ingredients. I must admit the old atmosphere is gone with the great pictures on the wall etc and this may only be the Merritt Island shop. But please don't let that fool ya. TF's still serves up a bang for your buck. We used this spot during the pandemic with the curbside delivery. It was set up nicely. Space for parking is at a premium but this curbside delivery does work out. Our food today during the lunch hour was fabuloso. How many different ways can one serve a burrito ? Let Tijuana Flats show you. Pick your burrito and stand back because it will be laced with a taste of all things good. The sides are proportionally correct as well. This location is normally pretty good. The food is usually tasty but the service is hit or miss. I've seen more negativity from the managers than the actual staff members, which is dissapointing. I've also had issues with the portion sizes. Some visits the food is plentiful, other times not so much. Not sure what the inconsistency with that is. I guess it's the mood of the cook that day. I enjoy the hot sauce bar. It's fun to experiment with the different sauces and I appreciate that you can buy the sauces for home use if you'd like. The restaurant sometimes plays very loud music, which can be annoying if you're trying to carry on a conversation with others in your party. This place reminds me of a college hang out more than an upscale eatery, so I guess that's normal in this type of establishment.There's a small outside area that you can use during nice days so I like to opt for that when the weather permits. I've been coming here for a while and pretty frequently during my son's football seasons. I love TJ Flats! The servers here are always very friendly and quick and the food is always right out of the kitchen piping hot! My only complaints are about the location's problems but not so much about the food - 1) this place likes to get busy and people like to linger...which means seating is constantly a problem and 2) the parking can be difficult. The parking in the front is limited and you'll be forced to hit the grass for a spot or swing through the alley if you find this area full. There are some spots on the side and the back though. Food here? The flautas and tacos are 2 of my personal faves but I try and rotate through the menu. The sauce bar is always changing and that is all about your personal tastes. If you want salsa, make sure to ask. The side of guacamole is also pretty good. About the only thing I've found that I'm not a fan of is the Bangin' Chicken. Something about their buffalo chicken in a burrito just doesn't do it for me even though I'm a fan of hot wings. Oh well, there are plenty of other choices I do like! read more

This restaurant is located down the street and across from the Merritt Island Mall. It is located non the north side of the road. There is some parking up front but it can be challenging to park some times. There is seating both inside and outside. Like most Tijuana Flats(TF), you order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Most TF restaurants have Taco Tuesday which is two tacos, chips and a drink for a low price. They are also known for their sauce bar. The staff was very friendly. I ordered a chicken rice bowl. It was plenty of food and was very good. What if I was like 50 miles away and was unable to drive to the place nor have a laptop with me to place an order? The option of through phone call is the best possible solution there is! There are a lot of good Mexican places in Brevard and this one is one of the smaller places, more divy than the rest, but the food is awesome. My wife and I ended up here when our original choice looked overcrowded - and we wanted to get to the movie we were watching that evening in time. It was my wife's suggestion and she's pretty good about this stuff, and as usual she was right :) We both had their "Dos" meal - choose two items for a very reasonable price - she had the taco and burrito, while I had the taco and chimichanga. All the items on both plates were huge and well made. Their menu touts fresh ingredients and freshness all about - no kidding - you could tell by looking at it and by tasting it. My only complaint was the rice was a bit dry - but no matter - I doused mine with one of the several choices of hot sauces they had - another surprise. They have a good beer selection, drink selection, but again, one other complaint is that they don't offer sweetener for the iced tea - again, no big deal. Wow. $34 for two people. Food was just OK, but price would have taken me to much nicer places. My "wet" burrito had a whole teaspoon of sauce, and virtually zero steak. It was very close to vegan. The check would have easily taken us to an actual sit down restaurant that didn't include waving at the cash register when I needed my paper cup refilled. This was a giant disappointment. Took stars off because both times it smelled bad inside the restaurant at the counter where you order, like they had cleaned up a spill with a soured mop. The food is always good. However, if you want a fountain drink, just know it tastes like corroded copper. We tried having the drinks without ice, and even in a coke, you could still taste it. Passing by the kitchen, you can see the triple osmosis filters. And sure enough next to them is a corroded copper pipe. I'm surprised more people didn't directly complain about the drinks, but it was funny to watch all the faces take a sip and instantly realize they had made a mistake. (The response below is from my original review that complains about a change in the beef flavor. Corporate eventually called me saying they were aware of the complaint but couldn't source the subtle change, asking for help in diagnosing the issue. Afraid I wasn't much help, but they have obviously fixed it) 4.5 stars. Review edited (4/22/18) because they somehow found the cause of the beef flavor change and it's reverted back to being really great. Only complaint is that they got rid of the grouper salad. They replaced it with breaded fish that is really good, but unlike the grouper it has carbs in the breading and I can't eat it when I'm on keto. But the food's great, and the restaurant always comes off as being well-managed. Staff are always friendly and they all seem to know what they're doing. Even a glance at the kitchen during rush hours reveals a well-organized and happy team. Good atmosphere, low wait times. Overall, a great return-to-form for a local favorite. read more

I've been eating steak tostadas with sweet chili sauce from this chain for the last ten years. This particular location has been on my radar for about half that time. I'm disappointed that the amount of salsa and sour cream included with my meal has decreased. Also, black olives were once a standard topping option but not anymore. I did mention on my most recent visit that there was an unpleasant smell upon entering. The staff informed me that it is being addressed. But unfortunately they could not smell it themselves to determine the source. Despite this recent problem, this location continues to shine. The food continues to be delicious and the hot sauce bar has not lost its novelty. The decor is fun and the photographs never fail to lose my interest. I do however, miss the booths. Only tables now. I don't know why I keep coming here.........oh yes I do there are not many choices in this small town. Every time I go here I feel pressured to order quickly from the "young, too cool, super young staff". I continue to order bland super boring foods. I've now tried tacos, enchiladas, and burritos.
