We came in after a movie at 8:40. We went to the register to order and were informed that they closed in 20 minutes, after we told them we wanted to dine in. We went outside to sit at one of those table and all of the chairs were locked to the tables with a wire cable. We went back inside and waited 13 minutes for the food to come out. Not a big deal- but that doesn't leave us much time to eat before we get kicked out. It finally comes out and we start eating and as soon as the clock hits 9 pm the television, menus, and radio are turned off. I understand wanting to close and get home, but this isn't the way to do it. We literally walked out the door at 9:07, as well as 3 other groups of people. Just wait until your customers are gone to literally close the restaurant. Especially on Cinco de Mayo- a day people literally seek out Mexican food. read more

This was a pretty cool spot for delicious texmex. I know this is a chain. However, this chain was delicious. So you get to fish tacos with the meal along with chips and salsa. The fish was tasty. I just wish it was a tad bit crunchy ( personal preference). The cilantro avocado lime sauce was fantastic it was heavy on the cilantro, and you can taste it. Veggies/ pico de gallo were fresh, and soft wrap was warm. Overall, i highly enjoyed my meal. Also, this place has a hot sauce bar from sweet mild to death hot for the brave. Additionally, the mural on the wall was like superheroes in a post-apocalyptic landscape, and I'm a sucker for good art. Friendly service and clean eating areas. I have been going to this restaurant for many years. They always had the special with two tacos, chips, and a drink. When I first started going there, I think it was $5.99. Then it gradually increased. I think the last time I was there it was $8.99. I went in a couple weeks ago and was informed that they no longer offer that special. She told me it would be close to $11 and that didn't include the drink. She explained to me that the owner had sold and corporate had taken over. I did not place my order. Worst service at the counter. The person was rude. We walked in 49 min before closing (for take out) and were not greeted at all until standing there for 2-3 min. even though we were standing directly across the counter. Counter person walked away and came back after a minute and finally stated, "can I help you", in a sarcastic manner. I asked if they wanted us to leave and they stated, "no you're fine" as they rolled their eyes. I even tipped because we own a restaurant and appreciate that when it happens to our staff. I was not rewarding the awful behavior, but simply reminding that they are in the service business. Your job is to serve customers with a smile and create a connection beyond the food. Remember Managment, you should be honored every time a customer spends money with your establishment. They have other choices yet decided to dine with you. Food was good, but if you can't serve your customers with a smile and thank them for the business, this is the score you get! My second visit to a Tijuana Flats, first was for an Elite Event a few weeks back. I wanted to experience a true visit to a TF as Elite events tend to bring out the best in restaurants. Service was good, you order at the counter and they bring out your food. I had the Megajuana Burrito, rice, refried beans and steak. Nice size burrito and its served with chips so you will not leave hungry. TF serves up some decent Tex Mex at modest prices. One little annoyance I have with restaurants that ask would you like this or that etc.. than charge you extra. It would be more honest if they mention for xx you can add this or that! Kind of sneaky that I paid extra for a little cheese sauce that should have been included. They have an awesome sauce bar and free soft drink refills. All in all I enjoyed my visit and will certainly be back to TF. read more

I had plenty of lunches @ TF. I agree about the whole DIY but convenience and service is why we go out. Sure I could make all of the items at most of the restaurants. but I'm not that motivated nor do i want to have the burden of having to store and eat Mexican all month. The decorations and ambiance is hip and cool bright and lively. Makes me smile thinking about the place. The girls appears to have requirements of either Tats, piercings or both. it's cool that they encourage individuality hair color and all. They all know the menu up and down. The sauce bar has a nice selection from sissy to burn you up hot. A great way to try other sauces before plunking down 4-15 bucks for a whole bottle of sauce. The servings are OK they have some specials during happy hour. I wanted to give them 5 stars as they can get pricey if you eat there every day. Ya know some of us are on a Fixed income. Some how if the value was greater either more food or smaller prices. that could make a 4 to a 5 star place. so Yay! I'm a fan . My husband kept talking about how he had lunch here when he was on his lunch break and how good it was. So we went one day and I found it to be very good with a very unique atmosphere. Tijuana flats is just ok. It is not what I think of when I think "Mexican food". It is very generic but they do have a few items on the menu that you can't get anywhere else. My favorite items are the chick flautas and the banging chicken burrito (sauce on the side). The chicken flautas are chicken and cheese fried in a flour tortilla. It comes with all the toppings on the side and overall good flavor. The banging chicken burrito is very unique with the sauce - the exact reason why I order it on the side. The restaurant is very clean, they always have good customer service, and the price is fair. It is not super authentic or very flavorful but I give it four stars for the other aspects. I have been coming here for about 8 years and I always return because I crave the flautas or burrito. read more

Mushrooms and onions were not present on the tostadas, the chimichangas were an oversized wrap, lacking filling in general unless you lucked out and found an overcooked piece of steak, Verde sauce came boiling hot ( not spice, but actual temperature) .... I absolutely love this place. I've come here with my girlfriend, on many occasions, more than once in a week. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, the employees are super friendly and can recognize us now when we walk in. The food it's just so good especially for the price which is so affordable. Every time we go there we say we're going to get something different but we never do. It's 2 soft tacos for me because I'm weak and can barely handle that and my girlfriend gets 3 hard tacos. We both get beef because it's the best. Personally I love spicy things so I get all the toppings which includes jalapeños and I take full advantage of the sauce bar. I love the sauce with the iguana breathing fire I can't get enough of it on my tacos I put the sweet chili sauce on my chips though. My girlfriend does not like spicy AT ALL so she asks for no jalapeños and they happily oblige. The sauce bar- revolutionary. I've been here a few times and have tried the veggie enchiladas, veggie burrito bowl, veggie tostadas, and salad with fish, and everything is always super super fresh and delicious. The restaurant advertises its food as transfat-free, hormone-free, fresh and not from cans, etc. and it shows! The food always tastes like a home-cooked Mexican meal, which is the best kind in my opinion. No extra oil or gratuitous amounts of cheese, rather there are plenty of fresh veggies with a balance of the fatty stuff, and plenty of flavor. The manager/owner walked over and advised me that the order placed is not the Thursday burrito special so the cashier changed my order to the Thursday special. I asked for steak for the burrito and mild/medium salsa with the chips. When I got home to eat my burrito, it was not steak (it was ground beef). And the salsa tasted like duck sauce (sweet but not spicy at all). It took probably about 10 minutes to place my order and another 5 minutes to get my order. Thanks to a sarcastic manager with an attitude and an inflexible staff, you just lost a loyal customer. We were regulars coming in every few weeks, but no more. The food is average and the attitude of the staff is way below average. There are better choices for tacos without the attitude. Try Tacos and Tequila or Fuzzy's right down the road.
