Here's the thing about this place. I've gone to three different locations: Port Orange, Daytona, and Winter Springs. All three owned, operated, and menu the same. Winter Springs and Daytona location gets 5 stars. For some reason the Port Orange location is substandard. The customer service, food quality, and taste are just different. We drive to the Daytona location, that is fifteen miles out of the way, to dine. read more

They quit answering their phone at least an hour before they close, so if you go to place a to go order in person you sit and wait...and wait and wait...it's not a one time occurrence, it's a regular thing. We love the food , and have visited many Tijuana Flats over the years. My concern for this location is the way they handle online orders. We used 3 times recently, in the hopes that we could just stop and go to get our food. On each visit, our food was not ready on the time they quoted. Each time was 10-15 more minutes than the time they give, which is usually 20 minutes from the time of order to the pick up time. On 2 of my 3 visits, I watched people walk in, get in a reasonably long line, and get their food before I got my preorder. It made me feel like they had not even considered making our food. I would have gotten my food faster if I would have not bothered to preorder, and just got in line. Whats the sense of preorder if it takes longer? I do not think they even started making our food until AFTER i got there. We ordered 4 tacos each time, so it wasn't like it was a complicated order. Whats worse is that once my food was ready, it was placed on the back counter where I could see it, but could not get to it. I watched workers walk past it with other food for 5 minutes. There were at least a dozen times where someone walked past it. Pretty frustrating. I would have rated them lower, but we like the food. I would consider raising my review score if this is resolved. If this was a 1 time incident, I would have not made this post. It happened 3 times in a row, and when you have a hungry 4 year old with you, its a bad experience. I hope that someone reads this, and reviews their online order system. I would like to be able to grab and go from there, and I do not think it is unreasonable to expect to set that expectation. I love Tiajuana Flats. I have been a fan for many years. I gave a 2 star rating because I have given this location many tries and they just keep falling short for me. Initially I had an unpleasant interaction with some less than friendly girls at the counter. But I hoped it was an isolated incident and it appeared that way because I went back to give it another try. This time the staff was pleasant but my favorite burrito was not good. The black beans were cold. I let the manager know. She mentioned that she would go make sure that the heat was on. I came back for another chance after that. This time I couldn't even eat my burrito. Two bites in and the rice was rock hard. I was so disappointed that I let one of the nice, young ladies know and I left. I have come to this location twice in the last couple months and have had the same horrible experience. I did an online order for pickup through the website and was given a time of 7:21pm that it would be ready for pickup. My wife and I arrived there at 7:15 since we were in the area already, waited in the car, and I went in at 7:20 to pay. I was told they were bagging it up so it will be right out however, 10 minutes later they still hadn't brought it out, in fact they had served 2 other people who came in after me for pickup, I went back up and asked what was going on only to be told they were making it now. So they didn't even start making it until after I arrived, even though the original cashier went back and told them I was there. It took 25 minutes after I got there to get my food while my wife waited in the car. As I said, this is the second time in a row that this has happened, so I spoke to the manager who apologized and offered a gift card for my trouble but the whole system of ordering online for pickup does not work if they don't start making the food until you get there. read more

Tijuana Flats all have really delicious food but this location also has a really amazing staff. We were greeted at the door by a really nice young man who also took our order and several other employees came around and checked on us through out our visit. It is a testament to the management that they have an amazing crew that makes the experience A++! read more

First time here. Kids & I loved our tacos. Nice to eat a taco & not have it split in two. Tortilla chips were good but the cheese wasn't my favorite. Better once I added hot sauce & sour cream. Guacamole is freshly made--I hate guacamole but theirs was good. My daughter said too much lemon in it. LOVE all the hot sauces & their names. I liked the GA peach one. The Jason's momma one was ok. Will have to try others on a second visit. Also want to try churros. If in the mood for Tex-mex type food, avoid Taco Bell & run to TF. Way better food taste & quality. Yum! read more

I received a email for their 2 for $20 promo, discussed it with my wife. We decided to try it out at the Port Orange location, and after speaking with a young lady on the phone we placed our order. Everything seemed very streamlined and efficient, as food was ready when we arrived. When we arrived home and checked everything seemed in order except, the queso was missing. No big deal, I understand things happen, so I called them back and spoke with the manager, John. As we spoke and went over what happened, he apologized for the mishap, and stated he saw the queso on the counter and they must've forgotten to put it in the bag. Again we all make mistakes, and I was fine with that, he even stated he was sorry that we would have to make another trip back, acknowledging the price of fuel currently, (which I found very refreshing), stating for the inconvenience he would refund some of our bill, or he would knock part of my bill on a future visit if I would rather do that. I was very impressed that in todays time, there was " Still customer service alive and well". I told him, thank you but I would rather come back then, as many times in my past, people tend to forget things that were said, and it was fresh in our minds. Now this is where I get to the 3 stars, when I arrived, the young lady said weren't you just here, I stated yes, and that I spoke to John on the phone as the queso was left out. I told her I wa sto ask for him, as he told me to, at this point I was told he was unavailable, and I said ok, well he was going to refund part of my bill for the inconvenience, which she said she didn't know about that,, ( convenient of course). I was not going to argue, or create a scene, and I was not mad. For me it's more of the principle, that I was told something, ( that in my 50+ year old gut knew would happen), which I why I was told him no about a discount on a future visit, now then I would've been mad. Honestly if the discount was never mentioned I probably would've given 5 stars as the food was great, I cannot state that enough, but I just cannot get past being offered something because of a inconvenience, then neglecting to follow through with it,,, just cannot swallow that. IMO choose if you wish, just make sure if it's to go, you check and ensure everything is there. As for me, I will choose to spend my hard earned money elsewhere. read more

The lettuce tasted like it hadn't been washed and the chicken was ICE cold with zero flavor. It seemed as if the salad had been premade and stored in the cooler waiting for some unfortunate soul to order it. The shell was stale - and over all it tasted terrible. In my opinion, drive the extra fifteen minutes and go to the daytona location. Different owners, better food, cleaner establishment. Don't waste your time with Port Orange. By far one of the WORST experiences at a Tijuana Flats that I've ever had. We Walked in to the restaurant with no one greeting us ( like most every Tijuana flats I've been to normally does) and proceeded into the line that only one person was in at the time. There were FOUR employees behind the counter while we were in line, and one of the four was taking the order of the couple in front of us. The other three employees were joking around, talking and it seemed as if there was no one else in line waiting to eat. This carried on for a good almost ten minutes before one of them broke away from the conversation and greeted us to take our order. At this time I was already frustrated and apparently the employee taking my order knew that as well, she apologized for the wait... however there would have been no wait had she been doing her job. But who am I to judge. They could have been discussing how to be better taco servers or whatever there is to talk about at a Tijuana Flats. Back to the experience, after getting our order taken, we proceeded to find a table where we could not sit down because it was too close to the adjacent tables in front or behind the original table we wanted. So then we moved outside to where each table was covered in trash or food, therefore causing us the customer to clean our own table so we could sit down and eat our wonderful meal. This isn't even the best part. We then wait from 7:10pm (time of purchase) to 7:43 for our first interaction from anyone! This interaction was because My beverage was empty and I personally went inside looking for a refill. Most Tijuana Flats have the servers walking around Asking to help you and I've NEVER had to track someone down like that before. Moving on. After I walked inside to get a refill (which was taken by the manager) I proceeded to ask if it was normal for us to wait almost 30 minutes for our food. She responded with "uhhh what is your name?" I politely told her and she then walked away from me in the middle of our conversation. That was Completely disrespectful in my opinion ! After being walked away from I was very close to getting my money and leaving but I personally wanted to see if they could come back from such a horrible experience thus far. WRONG! It gets worse! After Another 7 mins pass (because I was timing them at this point) the server comes to us with our food and says sorry for the wait and asks us if she can get us anything for the hassle. I laughed and said yea that would be nice and then the server left. We finally at that point thought the insanity was over and we could finally eat, but then the worst part of this whole thing happens. My first bite of my burrito (which was extremely small and not full of meat at all) was COLD. Cold as if they took deli meat out of a refrigerator and placed it in our tacos. But it wasn't just my taco, it was my friends as well. So I checked both thinking it could only be one of our tacos, wrong again. Both of our tacos were ice cold, the food was late, we waited forever and the service was PISS pore! I could go on and on about this horrible experience but I will leave it here with this. I am by far not one to ever complain about a restaurant, but today it was too much. One of my good friends owns the a Tijuana Flats around the same area and his restaurant is flawless, that is the reason I write this review. His Tijuana has set the bar for me and tonight, my experience at the port orange Tijuana Flats was completely butchered. Hopefully no one else has to go through the same experience and this establishment can make a few changes for the better from this. There's no excuse for such low quality. Do your job. Do it right. The only recommendation I have is for their online ordering. I ordered online about 15 minutes before I came in and had to wait another 15.
