Great experience. I had been wanting to visit Tiki Underground for a long time, after seeing their online posts. It did not disappoint at all. It's a fun dark tropical vibe. The drink list is amazing with something for everyone. The bartender was extremely helpful and cheerful. She customized our drinks based on our preferences, and she had a wealth of knowledge. We had fun tying to figure out the 70s movie on the TV. The fries were tasty, we cleaned our plate. It was fairly busy with tables of four filled with friendly patrons in Hawaiian shirts. We sat at the bar, and met some new people. Great location with lots of street parking and within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. Came here with a girlfriend on a Friday evening and we both thought it was just okay. It has a nondescript storefront and entrance, which is not my favorite--I like places to be clear about where it is and what it's called! Not a fan of the entrance as it's super cramped and there's an extra door to go through. Traffic is bottlenecked at the entrance and it's a tight squeeze to get in and out. The decor hits you and it's very dimly lit inside. Loved it for all of the first 5 minutes I arrived but you start to notice the shabbiness of it all and the tackiness. Wish this place could've been arranged nicer and be more of a lounge area. There was one area that looked like it had comfortable seating but it was reserved for bigger parties. I have some major beef with the chairs at this place. Holy moly they are the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat at. They are these wicker chairs that sink in and stick to your skin. There's no cushion or lining or anything that stops your hair or clothes from getting caught in some part of it. The food menu is too small but looked pretty good. We ordered the wings and the empanadas and the taste was pretty good. I would say the prices are high for the small plates. 2 small empanadas for $15 and 10 wings but the size vary so you could get tiny wings and it doesn't even come with celery or carrots for $15. There's not really anything tropical or on theme for the dishes. Missed opportunity to have like pineapple grilled lamb lollipops/mini pork chops/shrimp skewers or mango salad + steak strips, etc. Follow me for more on-theme inspo. Our server was very friendly but not knowledgeable about the menu. Yes, they have a big menu for alcoholics but their mocktail section left much to be desired. My friend paid $10 for maybe 3oz of juice. She downed it in like 30 seconds and was hesitant to get another drink especially since it was non alcoholic for that price. I love the Tiki Culture....this has kind of been a recent thing for me and I've been enjoying discovering tiki bars all over the place, but THIS one here.....this is right in my backyard. The interior design is just beautiful. The backyard patio is nice too and I can see that as being a great place for overflow when the inside gets packed. (We were there at 5 PM so it was not packed yet, since it was still quite early). Service is quite friendly and I enjoyed talking to the bartender. The drinks were good (although to be fair, tiki drinks are always a little sweet for my taste, so they are actually NOT my favorite- I go more for the ambiance). They had all of the classic tiki drinks though and they sold tiki mugs. The one I REALLY wanted was hand-painted and exclusive to this place. It was $150 and I was tempted, but I ended up opting for a less expensive one that looks like a black cat volcano for less than one third of the price. It is so cute and I will happily add it to my collection. Oh, and the food? Spectacular! We had short rib empanadas and blackened chicken street tacos. I really enjoyed them both, especially that mild green sauce that was served with the empanadas. We were not super starved, so the small plates menu scratched an itch. Small but mighty. One of the best Tiki bars that I have been to. Drinks were out of this world. Bartenders were incredibly efficient and engaging. I was amazed that they could balance a busy night while creating fabulous cocktails and make us feel like their most important customers. Truly outstanding. Came here over the weekend and I absolutely had no idea this place existed and how popular it was! This place is like paradise but in Cuyahoga Falls. Inside was jam packed and thankfully there was a whole section outside away from the madness with heated lamps and Christmas themed Tikis. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and welcoming upon arrival, very friendly to outsiders like myself. Drinks may look pricey but they do pack a punch! I will salute it for serving local and non alcoholic drinks as well! My only thing I wish it could improve on is maybe a more improved system for getting drinks or even another bar outside (which is probably tough to do) but I did have to wait over 30 minutes to get a drink. I went there with some friends after floating the river. We've been there before and decided to return. We entered and saw two empty tables, one appeared to have a name on it so we assumed it was reserved, and the second one was empty with no indication it was reserved. Now keep in mind, upon entering there was no signage stating a reservation was needed and no hostess to seat us. We just assumed the one was reserved. We decided to take the one empty table and upon sitting, the table next to us told us they were leaving and that we could have it. We sat down at both tables and waited for service. We were approached by a female employee who told us she had to see if she had any reservations before she could allow us to sit. We waited for approximately 15 minutes without anyone returning to our table. One of my friends walked up to the bar and explained we had been waiting for the female employee to return, and that no one returned to inform us or ask if we wanted anything to drink. The male bartender kindly walked over to our table and proceeded to take our order for food and drinks. Shortly after, he brought us cups with no ice and water that was warm. While waiting for our food, my friend who went up to the bar began talking among our group expressing how making us wait was unacceptable. The female who initially approached us appeared behind her and inserted herself into the conversation. She did so in a rude way and told my friend she could either stop complaining or enjoy the time there. The encounter became a little escalated leading the employee to tell us she was canceling our order and we would not be serviced. We then politely stood up and left. read more

Unique place with friendly staff at this Cuyahoga Valley bar. Smaller bar but they do have outdoor seating w/ heat lamps but I love sitting inside to get the tiki feel. The Cocktails: Potent yet delicious. If you're not a tiki rum drinker, there is plenty of other cocktails for you. They balance the liquor with tropical flavors and they are good. My favorite is the Kahiki Kai with coconut cream, banana, and rum. Did you know the skulls on the menu mean how strong they are? The Food: I'd give the food a 3 star - nothing special but solid. This is typical bar food with a tiki twist , would recommend eating to cushion the liquor in your body. I've been hoping to make the trip down from Cleveland to try out Tiki Underground since they reopened in Cuyahoga Falls. The opportunity presented itself over my winter break when I met a friend who lives in Akron to catch up. The interior décor is very typical tiki, but well done. I especially liked the fake portholes in the wall with televised "ocean" passing by. The menu is expansive, and if you're a tiki fan like me, you'll appreciate that they list the creation year of some of the drinks they are serving. You'll also appreciate that they have a great mix of classic tiki drinks, less well-known ones, as well as their own riff on some. I ordered the gorilla panic and the full brazilian, both of which were good. My only complaint was that the gorilla panic didn't come in the tiki mug I was expecting (and that is shown on the menu). One of my favorite parts of tiki is the glassware and the vibe it provides, so I was disappointed for this to happen. They also just started having a fuller kitchen and the menu looked great! Both my friend and I were called to order the short rib empanadas. Very cripsy and tasty, though I do wish that they came with more of the horseradish cream. I ordered more on the side, but that was extra $ when in reality that dish needs more of the sauce to really round it out. I'll be back to try more and can't wait to return! read more

What a great spot!!! We love Porco Lounge and Tiki Room so when we heard about Tiki Underground we had to try it. Luckily we arrived early on a Friday night so we were able to snag a table for our party of four. The small bar is heavily decorated in a fun Tiki vibe. This unique little bar is a gem! My cousin took me there recently for a cocktail and it was not what I expected. Dark lighting, intimate, great cocktails and a friendly staff. Then you add the decor...I'm a sucker for a theme bar and they don't disappoint. From the fun fake port holes to the extensive tiki glass collection, there is plenty to look at while you are sipping your Mai Tai. Since my first review, I've been back to Tiki Underground a couple of times and wanted to add more information. On my most recent visit, I got a chance to try food from One Bite Kitchen, which has consistently been operating since my previous review. It's not a big menu, but it's a nice array of small plates that could be shared and a couple of entrees. I tried the fries, which were like McDonald's fries (in a good way!) and covered with garlic and parmesan. They were really good. The salsa that came with the homemade chips was also really fresh and had a little kick to it. Portions were generous. I had the chicken tacos, and while they looked a little small, they were filling and the toppings all worked well together. My friend enjoyed the short rib empanadas. Drinks were excellent as always. A new favorite of mine is the Cheetah Chrome. One positive change was that they were taking names for people waiting for tables (this didn't happen the first time I came), and we got a text when our table was ready. I think we waited for about half an hour. If you're with a big group, there's not much room to wait inside, but you could walk around on Front Street (or if there are fewer people, you can also order at the bar). On a busy night, this new waitlist made things more fair and less chaotic than trying to snatch a table as it opened. read more

Service on a Tuesday was great, Two at the bar and one server doing tables. Atmosphere is like in a volcanic cave tiki, raft. Everything is new , custom made, yet looks like it's been aged, as a tiki place should. Kitchen is new, clean, and as business grows, they contract pop ups. Food service on weekends. Run by chefs with specialties to serve. Not really a place for beer pretzel and over fried food. Sound is good, you can hold a conversation with out loosing your voice. Then I laughed at their idea of small plates as Lawson Chip dip and a bag of chips. Drink was pretty but was just "meh" tasting.
