Flowers and banners came down from heaven and the music of flutes and lyres filled the air. * * * The Monk is the most recent addition to this healthy market correction. I can not speak about the earlier rescue arrivals. However, The Monk has long had a reputation in Houston as being an absolutely first rate chain. When I was visiting Cy-Fair, a knowledgeable local informant told me that the Monk was the best food I would get in Cy-Fair in ANY format. While I can't speak for the entire range of the competition (the Houston burbs having some formidable Mediterranean and Vietnamese), The Monk was everything advertised. One reviewer complained that they advertise as Asian Market but only have Indian food staples. Well, since India is in Asia, I don't think that's false advertising, so shouldn't warrant a bad review. Compared to the other Asian market in town (which I have shopped at many times), Spice World Market is much cleaner, brighter, and easy to navigate.
