Stopped in for a bite as we were out shopping. The menu can be a bit overwhelming with a lot of non traditional Indian options ie, pizza, wings, wraps until you realize every dish has an Indian flair. Ultimately, we loved the concept of creative food choices with traditional Indian flavors. It's a stretch from traditional Indian food and restaurant flair but still good. Atmosphere: We used the self order kiosk which is easy to navigate. You place your order, grab a number, pay and food is brought to your table. Staff is also available to take orders and help with questions too. The location is nestled by other restaurants near the Harkin theater. Easy to find. Easy parking. The open seating, open room is clean and inviting. Tables are cleared if people leave their trash and cleaned quickly. No problem finding seating. The place was fairly busy with in room dining but was also doing a lot of food delivery/carry out so the kitchen was constantly moving. Food: We decided to try different options and ordered samosas (2 per order), shrimp coconut curry taco (on naan), vindaloo (traditional with rice), and a wrap (also in naan). Food was fun to try different presentations with good flavor. The sauces were traditional Indian flavors from the chutney with the samosa, vindaloo with the rice dish, and the dipping curry sauce with the wrap. We were not disappointed. The tea options for beverages were also good. My only disappointment was how small the mango lassi is and that they are premade sitting in the refrigerator. Ultimately, I decided not to try it. Its a generic version of an authentic Indian cuisine. If you want authentic food with great taste thi is not it. They are ok if you have never tried real Indian cuisine this a scaled down version. Located on Power and Ray, you find the nearest Indian food in the area. We came in on a Sunday during lunch and it was pretty busy. You order at the front and seat yourself. My husband and I order the mango side salad, coconut curry wings, butter masala chicken, and the original curry. Water cups were offered but they also have soft drinks for purchase. Our order came out about 10-15 minutes. Service was decent. Tables were clean. The mango salad was good; light and sweet mixed with greens and carrots. The vinaigrette was tangy and sweet. I would've enjoyed more of the greens in the salad. It had an overwhelming amount of carrots. It might as well have been a carrot salad. Regardless, still tasty! The coconut curry wings were great. The sauce reminded me of a sweet and sour or honey hot wings. The cilantro gave it an extra bit of taste. Downside to the wings were, they had too much fatty ends and not enough chicken meat. Both of the curries we got were excellent in taste. We got the medium spice and let me say, it was a bit too spicy. Next time, we'll go with the regular spice. Both meals came with rice. I have an Indian restaurant that I frequent but I fly out of Mesa a lot so glad I found this place as another option on that side of town. It's set up more like a fast food type place which makes it so easy if you don't have a lot of time. I walked in and was greeted immediately. The menu is digital and you order off of the touch screen which was really simple. Take a number and your food is brought to you. It was the perfect portion for a quick meal with good flavors. Parking is in a private lot amongst other businesses so no problems there. This will definitely be added to my list of places to eat on days that I fly out of town. read more

We have had this twice and both times it did not dissapoint. Now I will say my experience with Indian food is very limited to jarred sauces from Target, but this was very good. Nice, thick, creamy sauce, meat was not fatty, crispy veggies, and rice cooked to perfection. Portion sizes and cost were very generous too. I have given only 1 star, because the first priority should be competence. Not providing the food I ordered and paid for is incompetence. Order was prepaid, and I'm not driving 1/2 hour to go back and argue with anybody. How hard is it to check an order before setting it out for pick up? Pretty disappointing. read more

Tikka Shack is a decent spot for Indian food in Mesa, and it's conveniently close to my house. I started with the Samosas, which were crispy on the outside with a flavorful stuffing inside--just how I like them. The sweet and hot chutney that came with them was the perfect complement. For the main course, I had the Veggie Bowl with rice and Malai Kofta. The gravy was decent, but the kofta could use a bit of work--perhaps a little more flavor or a softer texture. My kids tried the chicken pizza, and while they found it too spicy, I thought it had just the right amount of kick. However, I wish they used actual naan for the crust instead of the thin crust they opted for. One pleasant surprise was finding Thumbs Up cola on the menu--definitely a nostalgic touch! I recently ordered my evening snack from Tikka Shack driven by a hunger that needed quick satisfaction. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The Chicken 65 was very unappetizing. The flavor was off, Chicken was very white and gooey inside and tasted like rubber and overall was very soggy. Veg cutlet was also okay (felt more like frozen food that was heated and given). Upon arriving at the restaurant and smelling the air when I walked up and opened the door I knew I was in for a treat! I will preface this by saying I do not know what 'Authentic' Indian cuisine is but I imagine this is it. I was so impressed by our meals in quality, flavor, presentation, and preparation. I picked up a to go order that had a special request of no raw onions, and I was so impressed when what seemed to maybe be the owner double checking my items to ensure onions were not on the entrees and in a container on the side. We ordered the Spinach Masala, Butter Masala, both with chicken, I got my Butter masala spicy and it definitely had a nice kick, and full of rich delicious flavor. I was glad that the spice was there but did not over power the flavor. The garlic naan..... you can't pass up. Make sure to get a piece! I also ordered the street style chaat with samosas and oh man. This hit. So much flavor, has a sweet and spicy component. All to say food was amazing and this will definitely be on the rotation of restaurants. This place is beautiful!!! I love the neutral color tables and chevron wood accents on the walls. As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed with a friendly "welcome in!" and the strong aroma of the Indian cuisine. You know it's legit when you get hit in the face with the smell like that! IYKYK! We togo'd a tandoori chicken naan pizza bc how can you say no to naan AND pizza?! Apparently when we went was happy hours so we got a discount, although the employee was unable to tell us when the happy hours are and what the discount is LOL. Saw this place a few weeks ago and wanted to make my way back to try it. I ordered the original curry with chicken and a side of garlic naan. The curry was delicious, just spicy enough to give my lips a tingle. The chicken was tender and tasty. The Tikka sauce is I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while now, so glad we finally did. We ordered Samosas to start, Kabab bowl with Lamb, rice and salad, the Tikka Masala (spicy) with rice and a side of Naan, Gulab Jamun for dessert, a bottled Coke (no fountain sodas) and the Tea (GET THE TEA ) Everything was really delicious!!! I love the aromatic flavors in the Samosas and the chutney sauce that is paired with it is a beautiful accompaniment. The Tikka Masala was beautiful and creamy (Plenty of chicken) I ordered the hot and it was perfect for a step up from your ordinary Tikka masala, and the rice had a beautiful fluffy texture with a nice earthiness. The Kabab bowl was really delicious, the Lamb had a nice flavor (wish there was one more Kabab) the Mango salad brought a really nice balance to the meal, and the Tikka sauce in the side Perfection!!!!!! It reminded me of a really flavorful tomato basil soup The garlic Naan paired perfectly with the Tikka sauce, I pretty much stole the sauce from my husband's dish and will probably order a side for myself next time. The desert reminded me of a donut hole with honey, I'll probably try the Ras Malal next time or the Mango Lasse. Do not forget to order the tea!!!! There is a great variety of customized cold teas to pick from and they are absolutely delightful. I would actually recommend going in just to grab a tea they are so good. Service is great if you have any questions, but you also have the option of ordering from a kiosk which is always nice.
