Random stop for Indian food late on a Saturday night. You order at counter and I wasn't offered a spice level meter when I ordered the chicken biryani. It said house style. The Chicken Tikka pieces were tiny and over cooked, totally lacking seasoning, and I'm not sure what parts of a chicken have been sparingly added to the curry sauce, but it isn't appealing and I'm throwing it away. Fantastic indian Food for a chain restaurant. The inside space is very clean and modern, and the ordering experience went super smooth. We are very big fans of Indian food and while traveling this showed up as a close option. I did not realize it was "fast food" style until we got there. Menu is limited and flavors just seemed "off" than what we are used to eating. For spice level we were asked if we wanted it spicy. that's it. Generally at Indian restaurants they ask "1-10" so this was odd. Curries were okay, kind of watery with a weird flavor profile. Was expensive for being "fast food" indian. Was in the area for a sporting event for my son. Saw that Tikka Shack Indian Grub was nearby so we decided to check it out. Located in a large shopping center, Tikka Shack shares a big parking lot with other businesses. Parking was a breeze. The interior is bright, colorful, and inviting. There are lots of seating indoors as well as a few outdoors. We walked up to the counter and were greeted promptly. We briefly perused the menu and decided on the following. Lamb keema biryani $13 Shrimp tikka masala $13.50 Garlic naan $1.75 Our order was ready in about ten minutes. The portions were great and I felt that the prices were reasonable. The tikka masala was rich, creamy, and flavorful. I ate all the shrimp too fast and had plenty of masala left but not enough for another meal. So, I went back to the counter and ordered more tikka masala (only, no meat) which I used the next day to make tofu tikka masala with for dinner. Delish! The garlic naan was soft and had the right amount of garlic and flavor. My son has a pretty big appetite. He devoured his biryani and half of the garlic naan and was surprisingly full. A Tikka Shack just opened a location in Gilbert and I'm so excited to have one near me! read more

Absolutely delicious food! If you're a fan of Indian food and want something sort of fast casual, then this is the place for you. It's really beautiful inside; very modern and clean with just the right vibes for this crowd. We had: butter chicken, tikka masala, shrimp curry taco, paneer chicken taco, garlic naan, and samosas. I rarely leave poor reviews, especially for restaurants as I know it's a tough business; but this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed uninterested and borderline rude. As for the food, I hate to say this but it was a disgrace to Indian food. Everything tasted bland and underseasoned. We waited far too long for our meals, and when they finally arrived, they were lukewarm and uninspiring. Overall, this place felt like an afterthought--not worth the time or money. I am hoping the regional manager or corporate can read this review one day, I have 4 items to share: 1 & 2. The food order Kiosk machine seems to have a bug when we tried to redeem an order of 'Butter Masala' using 1300 points that we have, I am sure we did it correctly on the machine, yet, the machine did not redeem it, so I am reporting a potential bug here. When we talked to the store manager CiCi (or CeCe), and she gave us very bad attitude, she assumed that we did not select the redeem option, and she also told us there was no way to 'fix' it, or 'correct' it, I was not happy with her response at all, and because my kid was so hungary, therefore I left it go, then when another worker called Kati brought us the food, I asked her who the store manager was, and she told me that CiCi (or CeCe) is indeed the manager, which really surprised me, Kati explained to me that the Kiosk is fairly new, like about 1 month, and it has had issue as well, and for my situation today, there was a way to correct it, but it could be a little bit more complicated, and it might took a while to do it right, at least the way Kati explained to me was very kind and professional, not like the current store manager, who has bad attitude and bad customer service skill, she needs to learn how to serve the customers and learn how to handle any situation, if she does not know the answer, she needs to say sorry instead of saying 'there is no way to fix it.' 3 & 4. In the food order Kiosk, my kid did not know 'house' means 'mild', and she thought 'hot' means 'mild', so she picked 'hot', so the food ended up being more spicy than what she expected, so a suggestion is to change the 'house' to 'mild'; similarly, 'X hot' actually means 'Extra hot', and my wife thought 'X' means 'no', and 'X hot' means 'No Spicy', so a suggestion would be change 'X hot' to '+ hot'. All our items were extremely tasty, well spiced and hot (temp and spice level). After the movies at Harkins, my daughter and I went to Tikka Shack. As soon as the door opened, the aromas slapped us in the nostrils! The excitement kicked in because we were ready! We wanted to try 2 things so we could share! Since I'm a spice wimp, I asked how spicy the Southern Curry is. The staff said it was about a 5! I'm more like a 0.5 to 1, so I considered trying something else, but was asked if I wanted a sample of the sauce! Yes, please! Oh my, it was delicious but wooo it had a kick! I risked it and ordered it along with the butter masala and mango lassi (to help calm the spice)! Everything was delicious! We got an order of each of the naan breads, because...why not! I went here after my usual Indian place was closed and I was still craving some Malai Kofta. Right as I walked in I was suspicious of the caliber of the food I was going to get, as this place's vibe was pretty yuppie looking, but decided to give it a shot anyway against my better judgement. My food arrived in a cardboard dish, which later soaked through (onto the table), and listen, I am NOT this person. I tipped 20% even though I used the self serve kiosk, but the food was so bad despite the good ratings I see on here I just couldn't in good conscience let someone else spend $20 on food that McDonald's could've made better. It tasted vaguely of freezer and not much else, was lukewarm at best, and I am not kidding when I say the dumplings reminded me of the texture of some kind of happy meal. It was truly awful, and there is so much better Indian food in the Valley (and probably everywhere!). Maybe I caught them on the worst night ever, but I didn't come alone and the Vindaloo was received only slightly better by my friend who later spit out a chunk of what they could only decide was "not chicken". The wings were pretty good, and so was the rice and naan, but granted those things are all hard to screw up. I threw away my meal as it was inedible, and I will be taking this as my comeuppance for betraying my local business out for a soulless chain even if they were closed. I have absolutely no idea why this place is so highly rated, but do not be fooled! I only wish I had thought to take photos. read more

I actually forgot to ask for extra sauce, so I had to call and add it, and it was no problem. So we go get tikka shack almost every Tuesday for their deal. We had southern curry this time, and I chose spicy house (you have to choose the degree of spice). It has previously happened twice when the dish was very spicy (more than house). Unfortunately, the website never makes this clear when I'm trying to choose a meal, so I've had a couple cases where I bought something really spicy without knowing it. It needs to be mentioned that the meal is only made with a lot of spice. read more
