First time eating at Slim Chickens, and it will be my last. The chicken tenders not only lacked flavor, but they also lacked meat. They were some of the skinniest chicken tenders I've ever seen. The potato salad not only looked pale and boring, it tasted like potatoes in mayonnaise. Probably the worst potato salad I've ever had. The coleslaw was OK. I did really enjoy the mango habanero dipping sauce. $25 for 5 tenders and two small sides. read more

First and last time eating Slim Chickens. They were not lying about being slim. I ordered 10 tenders meal and a side salad. The salad was normal size but the tenders were tiny. About the size of a quarter. For $16.49 this was the worse meal I have had in a long time. Now I have to find someplace else to eat. This didnt even come close to a meal. More like a small snack. They also forgot my dipping sauces. Not that that would have helped. I called the store and they told me I was welcome to come back for the dipping sauces. Not worth the gas. read more

Very disappointed. The coleslaw is so salty I can't eat more than two bites. Half of my chicken wings are covered in feathers. The chicken is cooked crispy like I like and it's hot. We had placed an online order for four people; 3 tender meals, 1 kids meal, & 4 cheesecakes. Our order confirmation said that our order would be ready at 10:41pm, about 30 minutes after our initial order time, which wasn't bad. When placing our order online, it said to park in a designated "curbside pickup" spot, however, once we got there, we couldn't find any signs. We called the store to let them know that we were picking up an online order and were wondering where to park, to which they told us that they we'd have to pick it up in the drive thru. The line was already long, but having no other way to get our order, we pulled into the drive thru. I'm not sure what was going on at the DT window, but we sat in the same spot for 20 minutes. By the time the line started moving, it was 11:04. We finally left with our food at 11:16, 30 minutes after our food was supposed to be ready. While we waited far too long for our order, everything came out correct and was still hot. I understand that things have been so different this past year, but most places have figured out how to properly handle all channels of service. read more

I got the chicken sandwich here and it was pretty greasy . The fries were okay but not as good as McDonald's fries. The service was pretty slow I ended up in the drive through for 10 minutes with 2 people in front of me and they got my order wrong by getting too an extra fry I had to pay for. This location usually serves great food, but I usually come during the lunch rush. But tonight my dinner was horrible. Serious quality control issues. The chicken wings, chicken tenders, and fries were all over cooked and dry, like they had been sitting around for hours. One my chicken wings was actually so dry that the meat snapped off the bone and literally cracked. On a positive note, the staff was extremely nice, and the manager offered to replace the food. I will return for dinner in a week and provide an updated review. Hopefully management has improved the quality control by that time. ***Updated review. If you need a chicken fix....this is a good place to satisfy your craving! The chicken tenders were lightly breaded and not greasy at all while my wife had the gluten-free version which were perfectly grilled. Overall, there were a lot of good options considering that chicken is the only protein they offer (hence the name). Combine everything with many different types of sauces and you'll have the makings' of a good meal at a fair price. Regarding the staff...they are very attentive and constantly checking on you to see if everything is ok with your meal. Great experience and we'll be back again! read more

We called to place an order to go with Slim Chickens on 19th street in Lubbock, Texas and we're told we would have to order through a third party such as Grub Hub or Door Dash. We were staying just down the road at a hotel. I have to say the tenders were very good but they sent some very spicy sauce instead of the gravy we had ordered. It was a bit too spicy for my wife and I, but my grandchildren couldn't eat it at all. When I called the restaurant to ask if they could send us the correct sauce they put the acting manager on the phone. By the time we got to talk to him we were so hungry that we had started eating them dry. He was extremely rude and said there was no record anywhere of us having ordered anything from them. He suggested that if we wanted gravy that we could come pick some up. When he had basically called me a liar and insisted that there had been no order for us, we both began to get a bit heated. Like I said, he was very rude and accusatory. I told him that we had decided that we would not bother with the gravy but this guy was getting more aggressive throughout the conversation. He repeatedly insisted that there was no order for us, basically calling me a liar repeatedly. At that point I requested that he call the hotel desk to verify that I was not making this up. It was about principle and he of course refused. I just wanted the satisfaction of him knowing that I was being truthful. I would also have liked an apology for his rudeness and insulting accusations. I also must admit that this was not my finest moment either. After he had hung up on me two or three times, not allowing me to finish what I was in the middle of explaining, I told him him to shut up so I could finish my point. I had just spent 72 dollars on twenty chicken tenders ( with all of the add on charges) and thought I deserved a little better that this. Not classy on my part, but I was so frustrated with his attitude and his lack of professionalism that I lost my temper. This guy has no business working with the public. He drew the battle lines early on and things went downhill from there. Unfortunately, his attitude and lack of professionalism is a very direct reflection on the restaurant. I will never darken their door after this experience. In closing I want to say that I have never left a bad review for a restaurant in my life, but have many times left positive ones, showing my appreciation for a good dining experience. Drove past and had to stop by. The atmosphere here is great. Staff are attentive and friendly. The restaurant is pretty cold inside which I find great, but if you freeze easily then I'd recommend a light jacket. Usually I don't pay attention to the playlist in the background but I was bumping to the jams they were playing. Now for the food I ordered chicken and Waffles and an Oreo cheesecake jar. The chicken was nicely crisp and not over seasoned. The waffle was dense and not too sweet and balanced well with the chicken. The Oreo cheese cake jar stole the show for me! I don't eat in restaurants unless I'm on the road (which is rare), so my experience may not represent a more seasoned Yelper's view, but I LOVED THIS PLACE! It was cool and uncrowded for a late lunch on a very hot day. I was greeted upon entering by Kyle, the manager, and I placed an order for a side salad and the signature Chicken and Waffles. I've never eaten this odd delicacy, but figured I should shoot the moon for the experience. The side salad was an nice size portion of romaine, radicchio, cheese, tomatoes and croutons. The Texas-shaped waffle (unique to this location) was yummy and I ate it with bites of the chicken tender to see what the legendary dish is about! Ever since The Blues Brothers movie, I've been appalled by the notion of eating the two together, but IT TOTALLY WORKS (at least for me). I saved two tenders for later and they traveled well. I absolutely love anything with chicken, but my love for Slim Chickens is at a whole new level! We first ate here when this location opened up since it was down the road from our apartment and we were wanting to try it out! I decided to get the Cayenne Ranch chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got the Hungry Plate. The chicken is so moist, yet crispy! Just the way we love it! The Cayenne Ranch sauce was not as spicy as I was hoping it would be (I love spicy foods), but it was still delicious! There isn't really anything special about the French fries, but they are good nonetheless! The second time we went, I decided to try the buffalo wrap! Oh my goodness! It is the best chicken wrap I have ever had! Not to mention, it is humongous! I would definitely recommend!! I had asked for the Slim Sauce (literally tasted like ketchup mixed with mayonnaise and relish) with my chicken wrap, but it was much better with ranch! They have a special on Wednesday for the chicken and waffles, which we decided to try out as well. The waffle was the shape of Texas (how cute!!) and you get two or three chicken strips on top. The only thing I was disappointed about was the servers had poured the waffle syrup on my chicken and waffles for me and I thought it was too much syrup! I say everything is great, but if I were just to change one thing, it would be that the drinks are consistently always filled to the top with ice, therefore the drinks always finish so fast. Really glad this restaurant is in Lubbock! We made an order here for a large group without a lot of time in advance. They were very friendly and helped us figure out what we needed to feed the amount of people we had. The service was very fast and friendly - they even helped us carry our food out to our car. The chicken and sides were delicious. They gave us a lot of dipping sauces to try so there was something for everyone. The potato salad was especially a hit.
