We are in the midst of a large remodel at our home and had purchased some tile for our shower pans at a local big box store. When it came time to install it our installer advised we look into another type of tile due to the chance of the tile we purchased turning yellow due to the quality. He recommended we visit Tile City and Stone and seek out the owner Tom which we did. Tom was honest with us about the quality of the tile we had purchased at the big box store and showed us options to replace it. We were not told of the chance of the tile turning yellow when we originally purchased it. We picked out a new tile with Tom's expert help and are excited to see it installed. No knock against the big box store but when it comes to specialized types of tile I would recommended going to Tile City and Stone. read more

Best experience shopping for tile, we never felt over whelmed because all tile was so well organized and displayed. The employees are very knowledgeable and took the time to pull samples and suggested based off our ideas. The owner was so nice and welcoming. My friend recommended this place for a tile leveling kit. I am local and never knew the store existed. I re-routed our drive from Home Depot to head there and support small business. J also had some thinset and other misc supplies to buy. Maybe a few hundred bucks in products. I knew they closed at noon on Saturday and GPS has me getting there at 1155am. Close, but should be fine. I entered the store at 11:55, only to be told immediately "We're closed". I was taken aback a bit . I asked "what time do you close?" "Noon" I check the time again. "I've already logged out of my computer" Well then. It's pretty disappointing when you go out of your way to support local small business and get treated even poorer than you would get at the big box stores. I was excited to find a new business close to home, but I will not be back, nor can I recommend Tile City. read more

First off, DO NOT get this location mixed up with the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village location. The one in TO has terrible customer service - who yells at the customers in the store "We're really busy, there's only two of us and you'll just have to wait!". My jaw dropped. I really liked the tiles that Tile City and Stone had in their TO location. When I did a search and found there was a location in Camarillo (I live in Camarillo but our contractor told us to go to TO), I was hesitant but went anyway. The ladies at this location were EXTREMELY friendly and SO helpful! I feel terrible that it's taken me 3+ months to write this review and now don't remember all of their names but Lauren and a couple of the other ladies there that helped were amazing. We were able to get the tile we wanted, excellent customer service (people who actually had time for you because they were staffed appropriately), they knew their products and were all around great! I was looking for a local tile shop to pick tile for bathroom renovation. There selection is amazing and we quickly found the right tile. However, the customer service and follow up is subpar. I constantly had to call for copy of invoices, update as to where tile was. When we took my contractor to see the tile, we needed to make a change to the tile. We worked with Tom and agreed that it could be cut into 3x3 squares and placed in a mesh backing. He said it would take two weeks. Fast forward to 6 weeks later, no call or update, so I called and after looking it this, it is i. AZ! What? So they are going to overnight and we will get in three days. Why three days if it is being overnighted? Doesn't make sense- I will it be recommending nor will my daughter who is an interior designer. Very sad and poor servic read more

My wife and I are right in the middle of a medium sized kitchen renovation, including flooring throughout the house. We went to Tile City because they were our closest local tile shop and we are proponents of using local businesses. Their showroom is well stocked and our initial interaction with the staff was pleasant. We checked out two tiles we were interested in purchasing more than 1200 square feet of. They charged us $20 for deposit to bring two small samples home. Not a big deal but considering we would be potentially purchasing more than $5,000 in tile we felt it was a little unnecessary. During the check out the lady said, "don't worry and take your time," which we assumed meant they understood the dynamics of a renovation and how things regularly get slowed down as well as things being changed throughout the process. Fast forward to today, as my kitchen is currently completely stripped. When I returned to the showroom to return the tiles and browse other tiles the younger lady working the front desk was very nice. After trying to refund me my deposit she went to a man I can only assume is the owner since the machine wasn't allowing the refund. After she explained the situation the man basically scoffed at me, stating we had the tile for WAY too long and pointed to some ridiculously small text on his screen which stated we had five days to return it. He even continued about how he "doesn't even have that tile anymore"....sorry guy, I don't keep tabs on your inventory. We're doing a remodel remember? I guess the first person that told us to take our time with our selection was not on the same page as the owner. Where do I begin, Tanya at Tile City Camarillo and their entire staff has been nothing short of AMAZING and a complete saving grace through what could have been a very stressful process...we remodeled our entire home with 3 bathrooms and one bathroom 2x in the past year due to leaks and Tanya has truly been a source of design and strength to rely on when we had no idea what direction to go in! Upon my first visit, which was spontaneous, their design team helped to pull samples and make drawings of our bathrooms...this was a 2-3 hour process and I never once felt rushed! Tanya continuously made herself available whenever needed and the staff created multiple drawings to help us in envisioning our dream bathrooms. I could not ask for more when making tile selections to transform our house into a home and I could not be more grateful for how seamless the process was through Tile City. There were numerous times I called to let them know I needed to review out tile order and they would pull out all our samples and more as well as make any orders we needed immediately. They were familiar and connected to our contractor and helped to communicate when orders needed to be picked up and how much needed to be ordered...the most important piece to this puzzle was that I could rely on them to meet our needs and when trying to juggle all that comes with a complete remodel....tile always felt taken care of and under control! We were one of the many who lost our home in the Thomas Fire and we chose to try to rebuild which has been one of the most difficult challenges of our lives. However, through this process we have met some wonderful people. One of our most positive experiences has been our interaction with Tom, the owner of Tile City in Camarillo. He has been invaluable in the process of selecting our tile and countertops. He actually came to the site and walked through with the contractor, the tile setter, our designer and us to make sure our order was correct. We bought tile in 2011 from the location in TO. Turns out "Tom" owns or manages all the locations. We went to the location in Camarillo with an idea of what we wanted. It took a few trips to them, and we did change tile ideas a couple of times. The completely crap thing is that they accept tile from many manufacturers that don't have matching 1/4 round or bull nose tile. So once we had picked the tile for our bathroom floor, shower floor, tub deck, & shower walls, there wasn't a coordinating piece. His staff pulled out a basket of 1/4 rounds and they tried extremely hard to make us buy one they had. I mentioned since we were remodeling, we had Home Depot credit, and I really wasn't liking what they'd matched to our tile. Tom convinced us it looked good, and I thought as a tile guy, he'd know what he was talking about. Once we had our tile installer come out, it turned out we changed and needed MORE of the 1/4 round. Both times (initial order & secondary) the 1/4 round was on "back order." When I went to the warehouse to pick it up, the guy there even said people were ordering it a lot. Well, once our tile guys were installing, it looked like crap! Luckily, they'd only installed a few pieces, and I told them not to use any more of it. We had ordered 15 pieces in the 1st order and 25 in the second. That's over $400 after tax is added. We have 35 pieces left, and I called Tom. I explained the situation, on top of my MIL having a heart attack and other things that have affected our single income family. I said I was willing to take the hit on the 30% restocking fee, because any amount would help us financially right now. Tom said he'd have to call the manufacturer and see if they'd accept it. 15 minutes later he called me and said it was a discontinued tile. ‍ Right. So it was back ordered, tons of people ordering a discontinued tile?? Sounds to me they hold true to their contract. There's basically NO way you can return tile. And to top it off, we gave Tom the dimensions of our shower. We had added the standard 10% extra that you should have for breakage. Tom ordered WAY too much 2x2 for our shower floor. We needed 9 square feet, and somehow he ordered us 15 square feet. Needless to say, we have a ton of "extra" tile. I wasn't even asking for that to be returned, even though that was HIS error. Make sure you really look, have correct measurements, and won't have a reason to return anything. Chances are, they won't accept a return, whereas Home Depot, Lowe's, etc., will accept a return. Hell, Tom could have offered us store credit. That wouldn't help us at all, but it would have been the gesture. To be a dick like he was, nope. We still have a bathroom to remodel, our kitchen, and our pool. Will I be getting tile from Tile City, any of the locations?! F to the No! read more

Yesterday I went to look at tile for my kitchen remodel. I waited in the front for approx 10 minutes and another customer walks in . Immediately a man pops up and states "a sales person will be right with you . ( to the new customer) a minute later he comes out and ask "who was first'? I said "I was. He then asks the other customer" is that true"? Was she first? WTH? I walked out. What kind of customer service is that? During a time when businesses are closing because of covid you would think, you should be a bit kinder to the people coming in to you businesses. read more

I came from Westlake Village specifically to do business with Camarillo tile and stone. I had heard of their good selection, awesome show room and great design help. After completing a whole house project I am giving the store and crew 5 stars! Tom and Kristen caught my vision and helped me make it happen. They helped me come up with a great design and answered the phone when I called with questions. Every single time I talked to Kristen on the phone she was pleasant and patient! It was a pleasure to speak to her. This is not to say there were not problems, things happen but they were there for me and helped work out the issues. I highly recommend the store! read more

Poor customer service! I was recommended to this place via an online inquiry for a brand of trim. I spoke with the representatives, gave the exact measurements of my tile, and was recommended by their team a size for the depth of the trim. I questioned the recommendation, saying it seemed too long. The rep called me back and let me know for sure their recommendation was the right one and I trusted their expertise. Turns out it wasn't. It's too long (my first thought was the right one) and they won't return or replace them stating it was a "special order", which is not what they said when I placed the order. They stated it was in the Thousand Oaks warehouse, and that it just needed to be transferred and that it would be there the next day. On top of all of that, when we went to pick up the order, we had to go back and forth between the store and warehouse because they couldn't find the order and had it under the wrong name and we had to go back once they found it. Very disappointing to have them recommend something against what I asked about initally, and not care or make any effort to correct their mistake. Now we are just out the money and the time, and have to completely change our plan for our project based on their mistake. Was actually planning to go there tomorrow for some more products, but will absolutely not shop there after that. read more

Tom was the biggest help to me when I had my master bath redone. He helped me pick floor tile that would go well with the tile that I had picked for the walls of the shower and tub area. He even suggested using the same tile in the shower floor as on the rest of the floor and it looks great. Then he helped with the color of the slab that went on the counter and around the tub. I was so pleased with the time and attention that he was able to give me. Then when I went back to talk to him because 2 porcelain tiles cracked he was honest with me. Where my contractor had told me that he would be able to patch and polish the tile, Tom said that you can't patch porcelain tiles and that it was a problem with the installation. I told my contractor what Tom said and he did a complete turn around and is now working to correct the problem. The owner is a prick. They ordered the wrong colored tile, blamed it on us and refused to take it back and make it right. He pointed to the receipt that stated no returns after 30 days from date of order, not date of getting item (it took them three weeks to get it and we were there to pick it up on the weekend which made it something like 31 days. I told him how I felt and he followed me out to my car and challenged me to a fight right in front of his business. When I got in my car he gave me the middle finger cussing and swearing ... real class act. When I got home I called my tile guy who was going to install the tile and he laughed and said this was not the first time he heard stories about this guy. Very helpful staff (Christy inparticular) went the extra mile to find a particular tile I had been waiting on for months at two other sources. They found the tile, completed the order without any hassles and five days later I picked it up. Great selection of tile, owner and workers are willing to help you find the right tile your looking for. Tile is expensive but worth it. Don't forget the hidden fees!!!! This company does not keep tile in stock and will charge you hundreds extra in shipping cost and if you order short you may end up paying more in shipping fees than the is worth. Shouldn't a company that sells product in a showroom have some sort of delivery system worked out with the warehouse they buy from or there just trying to make an extra buck to stay in business. I searched all over Ventura County looking for tile for my backsplash that would contain a pop of purple/crimson as in my granite countertops. I had no luck until I came here. The selection is amazing, you can even custom blend your own mosaics/tiles. I went in wanting a glass mosaic yet left with a design by Tom that I absolutely love. This place sold me 10 boxes of mix matched badly cut tiles. Their manager Debbie tried to tell me they are "Wavy Pavers" LMAO. Really? Then she questioned the lic. contractor. I recently went into Tile City & Stone in Camarillo. I was looking to replace my kitchen tile behind my stove. When I walked into the store, it wasn't busy. There was only one other customer, besides myself. One employee went to help the other customer in the store. The other male employee walked away to the back of the store, before I had a chance to ask for help. I thought that he saw me, but I will give him the benefit the doubt at this point. I looked around for a short time, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I went to the back looking for the other employee. He was in another room, having a discussion with a woman. I thought at first he was helping another customer, so I patiently waited. I stood outside the door for a short time. The woman smiled at me, but continued to listen to the other employee. It took me a few moments to realize the man was apparently her boss. The boss was asking her what kind of hours she would be willing to work, whether she would work in their other store etc. I finally had to politely interrupt their conversation in order to try and get some help. The boss stopped for a moment to find out what I need. I showed him a display of tiles, and asked a few questions. He went back into the same room he came from pointing to the brand of tiles. They were all displayed behind the woman at the table. He continued his conversation with the employee. It wasn't very comfortable trying to look at the tiles behind the woman. I again had some questions. I waited for a short time while the two continued their conversation. I made it quite obvious I was waiting to be helped again, but to no avail. I walked out of the store. I will not shop here again. This is not the first time I have had problems in this store, but it will be the last. Because there are many other options of tile stores, next time I will choose one that considers customer service a priority. read more

We've had nothing but a positive experience from the staff here. The owner is incredibly friendly and both young ladies working the desk are very knowledgeable and professional. They helped us conceptualize our idea and gave us great feedback. We received quotes promptly. The ordering process was very easy. Went in to browse tile for a kitchen backsplash. Was prepared with photos and granite sample. Salesgirl had attitude and was extremely unhelpful. I pointed to a tile I liked and she said I shouldn't consider that one unless I had a lot of money. Then she went on to say that some people don't look like they have a lot of money, but maybe they do! How stupid and unprofessional can you be?
