It was not my favorite. The pork was ok. The sauce lacked flavor. The succotash had a somewhat bitter note. Not sure if it was old. My wife had the alfredo, that I thought was greasy. While it has a great atmosphere, the food could use a good bit of improvement.

NEVER asked if we wanted refills on drinks or checked on us. It was a Tuesday night and it took an hour and 5 minutes to get us our food. Yes we were a group of 9 but it was 3 kids and not that busy. Only seemed to be 2 waitstaff for the whole place. Just no attention paid to actual orders, and next to no regard for checking on guests. For a variety of reasons, last night was the first time we stopped in for a burger and beer. I'm sure it won't be the last. Orders for food and drinks are placed at the bar. You can eat at the bar or one of several tables just off to the side. Food and drinks are cash only and the kitchen doesn't have the capacity to serve groups larger than six to eight. They have a small but decent selection of tap beer and of course a full bar. The burger I ordered was as good as any I've had at a local bar and grill -- thick, juicy, topped with cheese, onions, mushrooms, and a tasty (though generic) BBQ sauce. An ample amount of fries (skin on) completed the basket. They offer a number of set combinations or you can "build your own" with any of the ingredients they stock in the kitchen. I might not be a regular--I only occasionally indulge in burgers like these--but I'll come back for another, hopefully sooner than 35 years from now.

I bow to his observation and will modify my statement to read that it is the consensus of SEVERAL locals that this is the best fish fry in town!) It's not often that a restaurant that is a part of a hotel gets rave reviews, and in many of the hostelries I've stayed in over the years, the restaurant was an afterthought. Not here! The restaurant is quite popular with residents of Rhinelander along with the hotel guests. I've been at The Claridge Inn (The Days Inn these days) on Fridays, and at the recommendation of relatives, I've always had the fish fry. They also offer baked haddock, one of my fellow diners ordered the haddock. She reported the dish was excellent. My beer battered cod was also excellent, a crispy shell with cod of a perfect consistency. The meal is offered with french fries, I opted to spend an extra dollar to substitute potato pancakes. The potato pancakes were also exceptional. Rhinelander has a number of really good restaurants, the Claridge is most certainly one of them.
