Tim Hart pretends to be a decent human being. In fact, he is a liar and a cheat. Like many liars, he cannot remember what he said before, so I heard many contradictory things from him. When my Honda CRV stopped working, he said it needed a whole new engine and that he had one all lined up. Believing his story, I sold the car to him for well less than 1/10th of its value. After he bought the car it suddenly did not need a new engine and was repaired at no cost by his friends in Red Hook. I kept in touch with him. A few weeks later, he could not remember what problems the car had that need to be repaired. Five months later, he suddenly could remember, and gave me a list of things that had been repaired. One of these items, the brakes, had been inspected and okayed by my own expert mechanic prior to the car's breakdown. Furthermore Mr. Hart claimed that he wanted my car to loan to clients whose cars he is repairing. What did he do that? If he advertised himself as a used car dealer, customers would be more suspicious and harder to swindle; if his purchase offer seems to be a one-time thing, he can cheat you all the better. He resold my car a few months after he bought it from me. Tim Hart is in fact a used car dealer and a dishonest one. Why do people lie in the first place? Lies are not a baroque linguistic decoration; they are a strategy to benefit the liar and disadvantage you. If your car won't go, take it to a reputable repair person who is not trying to buy your car. It is worth the towing fees to avoid being scammed for thousands of dollars. Do not believe what an expert says if he is trying to buy your car at the same time since he has a vested interest in lying to you. There are a handful honest and decent people in the car world and I have found two of them by now. Tim Hart is not an honest and decent human being. He is essentially a crook who should be avoided at all costs. I don't know how he sleeps at night. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL & UNRELIABLE, LOOK ELSEWHERE!! The owner is an absolute loose cannon, whose work apparently depends on his mood for the day. So, a local garage accidentally damaged my passenger side rocker panel on their car lift and sent me here to repair the vehicle. I was treated as an inconvenience from the get go and after scheduling an appointment I was strung along for multiple days on a fix I was told should take a day. He didn't even take my number so he could contact me, he just told me to keep checking in on him at the end of the day!? Which, caused me to miss a previously scheduled car appointment as well as constantly readjust my work schedule at the last minute. Then, I got the vehicle back. Given it was the rocker panel, I didn't notice until the next day, with the sun hitting it, that while the crease on the rocker panel had been repaired there was now a string of what appeared to be hammer marks along the length of the rocker panel, but I couldn't immediately address the issue because of the rescheduled car appointment, which turned into a week of work on the vehicle. So, I returned to Hart a few weeks later to see if we could work something out with the damage. Starting out the conversation, I very purposefully thanked him for the previous work, then tried pointing out the string of hammer marks on the rocker panel. Right off the bat he was belligerent and instead of trying to have a conversation like an adult he kept over talking me, before storming off towards his office while yelling "Fine, I'll f*@king do it all over again". I've never dealt with such unprofessional behavior and such poor workmanship. He literally took out a crease, turned it into a string of what appeared to be hammer marks and acted like an unhinged toddler when confronted about it. Look elsewhere!! read more

The inside of my rear bumper was all rusted away and one side fell off while I was driving a bumpy road. I went to an auto body shop in Rhinebeck first and they were gonna charge me for $1,800!!! Found this place on Google and the owner offered me a secondhand bumper, which arrived within 3 days and everything all together was under $150He also managed to get everything fixed within an hour. The pricing was incredibly fair and the bumper reinforcement was so professional, I could not ask for more. Would 100% recommend to all my friends!! read more

I called Tim this morning and asked when I could bring my car over to take a look at the damage from someone sideswiping me. He said anytime during regular hours. He took a look and came back with a cleaning solution and wiped away 90 percent of the damage, and I was on my way at no-cost. I will be using Tim in the future for bigger jobs. On a recent rainy night, tree branches fell onto our car shattering the windshield and doing a massive amount of damage to the car. I do not live in the area, but luckily, Tim Hart Auto Recovery was recommended to me. I called him and within the hour he towed the car and let me know he would keep it covered and indoors (so it would not get wet from the rainy weather) until the insurance adjuster could come look at it. He took photos documenting the condition of the car and sent me the estimate. Incidents like this are really upsetting but I was really grateful to be working with Tim because he made the experience as good as it could be. Besides his professionalism, he is just a super nice, helpful and honest person. He got the work done quickly and he did a beautiful job with the body work. It really looks great. My parents recommended Tim when a huge tree branch fell on our car in a thunderstorm and he did not disappoint. He offered to come pick up the car from our house (even though it was driveable) to save us a trip across the river to Red Hook where his shop is the very same day the car got smashed up, completed the repairs quickly, and was super helpful and nice throughout the whole ordeal. Tim Hart has done flawless collision work for me twice in the last few years. On the last occasion--October 2015--he went beyond the call of duty. A part he needed to finish the job hadn't arrived, and so he drove to White Plains--a 160-mile round trip--to pick it up.
