The campground itself is clean, and the sites are spacious with plenty of shade, which made our stay comfortable. The pool area is excellent, and the food offerings were surprisingly good. One area that was disappointing was the miniature golf course. It appears it has not been maintained regularly. There were numerous rocks and debris on the greens, several holes were filled with golf balls, and some of the clubs were broken. With proper upkeep, this could be a much more enjoyable attraction. The activity center staff were another weak point. Many of the younger employees seemed disengaged and lacked enthusiasm for the activities. When we asked questions, we were often met with "I don't know" responses, which was frustrating. Better training and more involvement from staff would greatly improve the guest experience. The bathhouses could also benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance. Since we stayed in our travel trailer, this was not a major issue for us, but it may be for tent campers or guests relying on campground facilities. One of the main reasons we chose this campground was because we were told we would be able to tube directly down the Guadalupe River from the property. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the river was stagnant due to a lack of rainfall, making tubing impossible. We understand that river conditions are beyond the campground's control, but it would have been helpful to receive more accurate and current information before booking. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the clean campsites, shaded areas, pool, and food. With better maintenance of the mini golf course, improved staff training, and more up-to-date information about river conditions, this campground could provide an even better experience.

Endless activities for kids of all ages + fun for adults. Some tips for visitors: gets very busy, activities and golf carts sell out - book early. Pool areas slammed and no seats, dirty bathrooms. Ideally they'd enforce seat holding as much as they do outside booze in the pool area. They are not all inclusive - kind of felt nickel and dime'd for little things that should be included like bingo ($2), popcorn ($1), glitter tattoos. However, there is plenty that is included so not a huge deal. Food options are limited but pretty tasty quality. Everything closes fairly early. I would visit again for sure! Overall, the family loved it. And you can tell from their app they're not ridiculously corporate and a lot of homemade food, local workers (super happy to see they also focus on employing those with special needs - awesome!) and overall really laid back. Gotta love that!

This is a unique property with a collection of early homes. We stayed in the Kusenberger Log Cabin,…read morethe original 1847 homestead at the back of the acreage. Descriptions of the home and property, while technically accurate, are a bit incomplete. The log cabin is a smartly converted dog-run to include a functional bathroom in the center. Interesting primative elements have been saved, which makes the experience cool. What was missed in all descriptions was the low clearance doorways and beaming between rooms and in bathroom area. At 5'10", I was 5" too tall. Hubby at 6'4"... you get the picture. We lost count of head bumps. For safety reasons alone, this should be mentioned. There is mention of both a loft and fireplace in description, but those should now only be considered decorative original examples and not on the amenity list as something a guest would ever safely use. The local owner has chosen corporate management. While this insures marketing and more passive ownership, I feel it sacrifices the pride and upkeep that are found in personal hands-on management. Although the fresh fluffy towels are nice, the uniformed bed linens fall short. The white on white sheets and duvet are grossly out of character and sleep very hot due to the synthetic material blend. The shower curtain and liner are too long for the low height bathing area and should be hemmed up. (Liner is a bit yuk from being just too long.) A make-ready employee did not appear to have been utilized as dead bugs were in tub and sink. Home was also dark without porch light or interior light left on. The 35 whole property is showing signs of needing a grounds keeper. The free roaming sheep are doing their best and are very friendly, but are limited in their ability to be complete. I'm hoping that a capital investment of hiring a human crew is scheduled soon to address maintenance issues. This is a special property that should be saved for future generations to enjoy.

They seem to be busy yet forget that customers are their livelihood. Internally, after going a BINGO game led by Sharon, we had a great time and felt better about the Park only to be evacuated on 7/4/2025 by Centerpoint Volunteer Fire Department. No follow up by ORR, no return calls even when phones were working, left several messages, sent messages on FB, comments, nothing yet they commented "all people were accounted for." How did this happen? We never heard from them. They have lots of full time residents which is okay. Yet don't seem to care about others? Not sure. Life is too short to deal with their office staff. Just a note to the relatively newer owner, Willie: if you'd up your game with the office staff, you'd have a lot more business. Everyone that I talk to complaints are the same. Not friendly, no return calls, etc. EVEN AFTER THE FLOOD!

I stayed here for a quick weekend trip with friends. It's a nice little campsite for both tent…read morecampers and RV campers. The lot sits between a creek and residential homes. There's a small river that crosses through the camp site, but the tides were low and it didn't look like you could kayak or tube in it that weekend. It was nice to watch the ducks swim by though. I like that the campsite includes clean restrooms and showers. Each tent site provides you a bench, trash bin, bbq grill, and fire pit. Unfortunately, there was a burn ban in effect during our stay, so we couldn't light a wood fire. There was plenty of space between us and other campers, so it didn't feel cramped. One thing that could be improved is that the field is pretty rocky. We couldn't seem to find a spot for our tent that wouldn't drive a stone in our backs at night. The camp site offers kayak rentals, but it gets to be quite expensive. Visitors can also use the swimming pool located by the front office. If you're feeling hungry, want to grab a drink, or enjoy some entertainment, right by the entrance is a restaurant bar. They've got live music most nights.

I feel that this site just had extra land so it offered some camping grounds but you're basically in people's backyards on both sides, and near a highway so lots of car noise. Maybe there are sites offered deeper where you're not so close to roads and peoples homes. Overall, I still enjoyed my trip, but I would probably only return here if I had an RV Camper. Not the best spot for tent camping.

Extreme RV. Great job. Saw trailers from all over. A huge one with Alaska plates. As it gets closer to super summer, you are going to want some shade.

Early this summer I searched and searched on-line for the perfect place for my husband and I to…read morestay for a night after my friends wedding in Medina. Call after call all the hotels and motels were booked. Apparently there was a biker rally and we were doomed to drive back to San Antonio (an hour drive after a wedding! NO THANKS!). I stumbled across a website that had several rentals and b&bs, which listed the Last Outpost. I called up the phone number and was fortunate enough to reach the owner who was very nice and allowed us "Sophie's Cottage" for the evening. She asked that I call a receptionist who would give us all the details and make payment. The receptionist was a lot less friendly, but she provided the necessities including an email with a lock box key in case there wasn't anyone on the property. After driving 15 minutes from downtown Bandera we arrived to the Last Outpost. The large neighboring ranch road marker saved us from passing up the property. We drove on a bumpy dirt road unknowing how long and far it would take to reach the homes, but very quickly arrived to three houses on a nice patch of land. We were quickly greeted by some cats and roosters, then the cows, goats and donkeys arrived. Apparently the owners husband was remodeling one of the houses and he came to the house and turned on the ac as well as the TV with instructions for the cable. The house and the land was perfect! Just like the website shows, I was not disappointed in any aspect. Even taking a "bath" with no shower head was fun for the night (although not something I would do on a regular basis). My favorite thing about our stay was walking the property and admiring all the hard work the owners put in it. I must add the bed in Sophie's Cottage was the best I've slept on in YEARS! I was very happy that it was tall in height because you never know with country homes where any creepy critters may be lurking. Sunday morning a nice lady brought us breakfast in "cottage" which consisted of fresh banana, strawberries, orange juice, bacon and home made pancakes. My only complaint was after the wedding we could not find the entrance to the property in the dark. After passing the large ranch road marker and turning around on the very small two lane road was the only way we were able to slowly creep up to find the entrance. I would suggest something directly on the side of the road opposed to the carriage a little off the road along the fence line which is unseen at night. So, book a stay here for your trip to Bandera or maybe Medina river. It will be very relaxing and an enjoyable very country weekend!
