Really attractive dark wood interior with lounge leather seating surfaces. Stayed at the hotel so tried the breakfast here. I like the selection of food: it's hearty and healthy. Everything tasted like it was made from scratch. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito the most. The açai bowl is actually Greek yogurt and not a traditional açaí ice base - so be mindful if you have your eye on that. Had dinner and drinks at porta blue in the hotel Nia (where I was staying). I love the ambiance and chill vibes in the bar area. The service was quick at the beginning but then trailed off at the end (took awhile to find our server- I think they had a shift change). The wine was really good- and the frites were a hit! I also ordered the tagliatelle with chicken and while I enjoyed the burrata and the chicken- the sauce was missing some seasoning and I wish the dish had something a little crunchy or at least a veggie added. I really enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant. Beautiful decor, ambient lighting, and an overall vibe. It is located inside the beautiful Hotel Nia, one of my favorite Autograph Collection hotels by Marriott. The Wagyu burger was a great choice and I really really enjoyed the unique offering of garlic fries instead of the traditional or truffle option. This really was a standout of the meal. The burger was flavorful and cooked to my desired temperature. Tommy's Margarita (not pictured) wasn't as tasty as I expected but it was still a solid tequila choice. The best part of the drink was the dried pineapple slice. My waitress even brought me extra at my request which I appreciated. Overall 9/10 experience. My server was nice and attentive. read more

Food was solid. Restaurant is beautiful. Located inside the NIA hotel, this is a well designed restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Although the outdoor patio is beautiful and dog friendly, they have a lot of yellow jackets flying around which are attracted to the food being served. Be careful if you chase these insects away when they hover around your table. Use your napkin, not your hand. Their stings can be painful, and if you are allergic to bee stings, I don't recommend outdoor seating unless you want to stab yourself with an EpiPen or take a trip to the ER. The yellow jackets leave when the sun starts to set, so if you are allergic and insist on sitting outside, wait until sunset. No self parking. Valet parking can be expensive but the first 2.5 hours are free if you are patrons of the restaurant. Staff are very courteous. read more

Restaurant has a beautiful interior that doesn't make a lot sense. I'd go as far as to say the interior designer is quite talented, but maybe takes LSD to invoke inspection. First, we had a yet for some reason the waiter offered us a table at the bar when there were so many open tables at in the main restaurant. Second, we waited about an hour for our entrees. Turned our waiter for some reason thought I said Salmon when I specifically said I wanted I wanted the NY steak and I wanted it medium rare. When it finally came it was the steak was properly cooked but tougher than I'm used to with too much tendon. Oliver was kind enough to remove it from our bill in the end. Always fun to try something new, but I can't recommend this one. read more

I came here for a birthday dinner about 2 months ago for a friend. We were a party of about 20 with reservations so we were seated immediately. Our server was great, very attentive but maybe a little overwhelmed. He did great regardless. There weren't many people in the restaurant and it's a beautiful restaurant. The food was fine. It wasn't spectacular but definitely decent . I had the spaghetti which could have used a bit more spices. My friend has salmon and enjoyed it but agreed that it could have been better. I routinely stay at the hotel Nia and this is the hotel restaurant, which is surprisingly good, if a bit over-priced. Still having a good restaurant in the hotel to do dinner at when you're getting home after a long day is definitely appreciated. My two go to dishes are the pan-seared salmon and the burger. I occasionally also get the squid-ink spaghetti with scallops as well. The salmon is usually my go-to and it's always well cooked with crispy outside, but tender inside. I really like the black lentil salad with the mustard sauce. The contrast of the strong, tangy mustard, salmon and lentils really works. The burger is much more traditional, but still great. It's got the artisanal bun, rich patty, and the toppings you'd expect along with a nice side of crispy fries. Definitely filling and also somewhat more sanely priced. I don't like the spaghetti with scallops as much as the others, but it's good for a break. It just doesn't stand out as much as the others. When eating with a few more people, I often like to get the blistered peppers and really enjoy them. They're not really spicy, which is a good and a bad thing, but super yummy with a bit of smoke, a tiny bit of heat and a lot of salt. The drinks are good as well. The cocktails are better than the beer selection. You can usually get a dry cocktail that's really good. The apple scotch sour is my go-to, but the spiced old fashioned is also good. I'm usually more of a beer than a cocktail person, but the beer selection here is just OK. They have a few local things, but nothing that stands out and they don't rotate them much. Also, it's definitely not a beer bar and you'll have to ask pointedly to find out more than the brewery and style, e.g., if you want to know exactly which the IPAs that the brewery makes you're drinking. read more

A disaster. I would have preferred to go to McDonald's if I'd known how bad the food was here. For a starter, we ordered nachos. The plate was huge and had cheese on top that tasted like plastic. I ordered a hamburger for my main course, which had no flavor and was also covered in blood. My mother ordered chicken, and just looking at it made me sick. It looked like hospital-style chicken. I had no hope for this place: it was just the hotel restaurant.. it was convenient and that was about it however i did not expect to write a review on it nor that it would be that bad of quality. Its only getting one star because of the waiter (really nice) and the drinks and the manager. First and foremost, we were here to celebrate a 9 year olds bday. We brought a cake and we were told the cake cutting fee was $10 a head (!); a little excessive to r is it just me? Fine.. i turned the page. We ordered a burrata salad to share. It was not bad but it was not good. It was surprising because it was prunes not tomatoes: but again, while the taste was different it was not bad. The margaritas were to die for ; amazing drink and real luxardo cherry!! Then came the entrees. The bday girl got a burger; she said it was good but she didnt eat it. She had the fries. My friend got the nicoise salad and it was fresh. Not sure if its difficult to mess a salad up but lets just give them the credit. Her husband got the lamb tacos. They were very bland and so bad he only ate one. He told the waiter whom told the manager. They offered to replace it but he declined. They did remove it from the bill. I got the mushroom pasta. It was SO bad i could bot eat it. I had to ask for salt but it didnt help. I then asked for parm to mask the taste but it also didnt help. I tried to force myself but there was a strange taste. My friend and her husband had to leave quickly but i stayed behind. I paid and after paying went to go see the manager. I told him i know what its lile to work in a restaurant and i didnt want to ruin his night but honestly my $26 pasta was terrible and had a strange taste. Even the manager agreed with me that it does have a strange taste! He offered to have something delivered to my room since i didnt eat so i accepted. They delivered a flat bread that was SO bad!!! It wasnt open yet and one of the moms there said they had ordered a plain but hot an everything... so we switched with her because her kid didnt like everything I went to go get breakfast but it was 11:05 and they had stopped making breakfast. For lunch they served sandwiches so i asked if i could just get the breakfast sandwich minus bacon (really only difference with lunch menu was that it had an egg). The lady asked the kitchen and they declined saying they no longer had the items. Give me a break. Tomatoes and egg and cheese.. really? Ao anyway i ordered the grilled cheese. I thought there is no way i can go wrong there.. well my friends.. there was nO grilled cheese. There was nasty thick "pesto". Disgusting pesto. Not sure how you can mess up pesto but this place did. Maybe no parm and no pine nuts? It was just thick basil and it was bitter. I decided to take the top bread piece out thinking to minimize the tastw of the pesto but it was just as bad because the bottom was full of it too. So disappointing!!! Expensive AND bad quality/taste. Ordering the worst uber eats out there would have been better than all these experiences. read more

A pet peeve of mine is when restaurants tack on a mandatory tip (20%) when service is lackluster. Unfortunately, that was our experience when dining here for brunch recently. It wasn't crowded and I watched the only other occupied table have their waters refilled while ours were empty. After our food was delivered, no one came to check on us or see if we needed anything. We did enjoy the food (grilled cheese, fries and breakfast sandwich) and the decor/environment was beautiful. With rising food prices and mandatory tips we'd rather go elsewhere with more attentive service. read more

Saturday night started out fantastic but the night ended with me making googly eyes with a pepperoni pizza...and I hate pepperoni. More on that later... Before dinner at Porta Blu, I was taking a stroll through Hotel Nia's beautifully landscaped courtyard - it was serene and sunny with a nice breeze. I could spend hours sipping on fernet in front of the fire pits. As I was walking to the host stand to check in for my reservations, I noticed that our table in the open-air restaurant was already set up, overlooking the courtyard and they even had a water bowl filled for Tater Tot: https://bit.ly/2LIhfTo. The kind staff said, if it became too windy for us to let them know and they'll move us. Awww, so sweet - thank you. While perusing the menu, a basket of freshly baked bread was delivered to our table: https://bit.ly/2xnqENb. There were two types of bread: sourdough and an olive roll. I tore a piece of the warm sourdough roll and slathered the soft butter on top. The sourdough roll was perfectly chewy on the outside and fluffy soft in the center. Mmmmm, carbs! So far, so good... Hotel restaurants have such a bad rep so I was happy that I gave this one a shot. Well, I spoke too soon because soon after, everything came crashing down. I ordered the That's My Jam: Vodka, apricot jam, lemon juice, simple syrup, thyme ($17): https://bit.ly/2J1mFqQ. Sadly, it was not balanced and very sour. Thank goodness, I pre-drank in my room before dinner. Soon after an Amuse Bouche of "Ahi Tuna" arrived: https://bit.ly/2L7dkyL. It tasted like canned tuna with tomato jam but hey, it was free. Being a Mediterranean restaurant, I had to order the Rack of Lamb w/ red wine, pomegranate molasses, black pepper, mujaddarah ($36): https://bit.ly/2GZhCWq. Unfortunately, it was overcooked to a well-done (requested medium rare). I hate sending back food but for a $30+ entrée, it should be cooked to your desired temperature so I sent it back. I appreciate the gesture but the hummus was overly thick, very gritty, and sour. The pita bread was dry. While the steak was rare as requested, it was very salty. Luckily, the runny yolk and stewed tomatoes helped temper some of that salt. When the re-fired Lamb Chops arrived, I was super excited to dig in. I sliced into a lamb chop and saw pink...yas, now we're talking! But, when I tasted it....holy moly! I asked my friend to please take a bite to see if we were tasting the same thing. My friend immediately spit it out. The lamb chop was crazy salty. We're not talking aggressively seasoned here - it was like, "Oppsie, I dropped a keg of salt on the lamb chops!" but *shrugs*. I took a bite of the mujaddarah (lentils & rice) and it was hard. The entire plate was inedible and I apologized to our server, telling her I couldn't eat it. She was apologetic and asked, if she could bring me anything else but after two fails, I didn't think it was worth trying again. I politely declined (they took the lamb off my bill) and ordered delivery to my room from Pizza My Heart. Porta Blu is just a month old and I would like to say, they have potential. I read an earlier review from a Yelper saying the food was very bland and now it's ridiculously salty. I hope the kitchen is eventually able to find the right balance of seasoning. Not only do their drinks and food need a lot of improvement but they can't seem to decide on menu prices. The Steak Frites have three different prices: Online Menu - $38, In-person Menu - $40 (including the fried egg), and I was charged $45 + $3 fried egg: https://bit.ly/2LHo4Vw. Oy vey. I wasn't the only one having issues as the lady who was checking out of Hotel Nia was complaining that she was charged $100 for a burger and a beverage, when her bill should have been $50. Came here on a Friday night for a quiet double date. The environment was great and not many Facebook crowd. We were the only table that night. Unfortunately, hugely disappointed with food. The beef tarte tasted ok but some of raw beef was brown --the moment I noticed this, I stopped eating it. I also ordered the NIÇOISE SALAD for $32 as my entree--the menu had this description: marble potatoes, soft egg, haricot verts, seared tuna. The salad came with only Romain lettuce and dressing. No tuna, no egg...it was so bizarre and not sure how they could justify $32 for lettuce and dressing. The cocktail was also not very memorable. I didn't want to complain about the dishes and instead decided to mention this when our bill arrived. But the bill has already been charged to our friends hotel room. read more

Located inside Hotel Nia, right next to a few new Facebook buildings, so they will always be busy. Too busy that when I came at 2 pm, took a break from Facebook meeting! They only got 1 server/bartender. The poor man got a handful of dishes to clean and I asked him if I could order. He replied: "I'm the only now. Just give me a minute." I'd been waited 17 minutes already someone to help me. And the looked at the patio, he would have a handful to serve all the guests, I wouldn't have my food for awhile even if I would waited another few minutes for him. Sad to see a decent 4 stars hotel with this kind of service. I got up and left! I feel bad for the server but it was t his fault if he was the only one serving 20 diners! Went here a few weeks ago with a small party and the food was fantastic. One of the people in our party has a gluten allergy so we asked chef Andrew for some recommendations and he was happy to help us navigate the menu. For starters we ended up ordering the Charcuterie & California Cheese, Steak Tartare and the house made Buratta Salad. Every single starter was amazing and I will definitely be ordering them again. For the entres we went with the Nicoise Salad, Pacific Mussels and the Dry Aged Flannery New York Strip. Every item exceeded our expectations. The wait staff was very friendly and the drinks were on point. 10/10 will be returning soon read more
