We were in Menlo park for a business trip and had to try out the Menlo Tavern inside our hotel, the Stanford park hotel! Super glad we did, since it was such a great and convenient spot to grab a bite. Started off with a few cocktails that were so yummy! I got a hibiscus/gin one that knocked my socks off. For food, I had a salad w/ Chickpeas and chicken. Super yummy, but what really wowed me was the corn chowder. Holy moly that was so good. I need the recipe yesterday! I could have easily just had that and a cocktail. Nice lunch at the Menlo Tavern in our hotel. If we are ever in the area again, this is the perfect place to dine.

This place occupies a spot in my top 5 Bay Area restaurants. It's not the food, the venue or the general ambiance it's the cocktail that all three create together. This is a sum of the parts situation. Homemade chips are a must and the menu from top to bottom falls somewhere between an A and A- depending on dish. It's upscale but still very low key which is the vibe I generally aim for. Parking is plentiful and the drinks are strong. Pro tip they also have a great outdoor area they open for the season beginning in May when the weather heats up. Great place for food or a cocktail and come beginning in May if you want a nice outdoor experience. Enjoy!

Stayed at Stanford Park Hotel. Menlo Tavern is an excellent on-site restaurant. Salmon and Bagel and huckleberry pancakes was a great start to the day for breakfast. For lunch calamari, fire roasted tomato soup. Dinner sourdough bread, butternut squash soup, prime filet mignon. Great experience, excellent food! Cozy dining area, we're seated quickly. Staff very attentive. For the quality of food, the price is what you would expect in Menlo Park. Breakfast 7am to 10:30am, Monday through Friday Lunch 11am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday Dinner 5pm to 9pm nightly Bar open: 4pm to 10pm nightly Weekend Brunch 7am - 2pm, Saturday and Sunday Worth checking out Menlo Tavern even if you are not a guest at the hotel. Plenty of parking. Reservations not needed, but suggested. Enjoy!

My colleague and I came to celebrate the holiday. The restaurant and adjacent hotel are decorated beautifully for the holidays! I started with an enjoyable dirty martini. There was a big group of us so we tried a few apps family style. We started with the beat salad, meatballs & truffle fries. I'm biased because I love a beat salad & this one was not only plated beautifully, it was delicious. The meatballs were juicy & flavorful. & of course the truffle fries were delicious, they also came with some sort of aoli which was a great complement. For my entree I had the mushroom cannelloni, it was just ok. The ends of the pasta were a little dried out, but the filling and mushrooms were good. I felt like it was missing something, maybe more of a sauce. My friend had the scallops which I tried & they were cooked perfectly. To end, we shared the apple bread pudding which was amazing, it tasted like fall! Our server was very attentive & the service was quick. I would definitely come back & I would love to try their brunch!

Went here tonight for Thanksgiving dinner with close friends. Oscar was our waiter. He was phenomenal. For the Christmas holidays they have waived the corkage fee so I brought a bottle of Pierre Jouet Champagne and Mi Sueño Pinot Noir. I had the traditional turkey Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was above phenomenal. My friends had the salmon, the filet mignon medium rare, and the pork chop. We were all so very impressed with the ambience, the comfortable seating, the food and the service .

We had breakfast and also happy hour here. The vibes are chill and the service is Excellent. The food and menu are great too. Lots of university people here too it seemed more administrators and professors than students.

Their French fries!!!! Amazing! We were there for brunch and live band, Slack Tide Current. We also ordered apple pie French toast and Ruben sandwich. Everything was good including service. Although French fries are amazing, it's $19! And our main dishes were $22-24. So it's a very expensive appetizer. We will def go back there sometimes. Just not an every weekend kind of place for us. Their outdoor area is very nice also.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch here! Service was amazing. Food was very good. Yes, a little pricey, but that is expected given the ambiance and location. Their avocado toast was very very good. I would come back!

The usual expensive steakhouse....except I ordered scallop. It was good! Ambience was nice. Food was good. Parking was easy. I would come back for the ambience and sit outside on a nice California evening.

We had a post wedding celebration here at Menlo Tavern. When we visited this restaurant afew days before and spoke to one of the managers, Clay - it was a wonderful experience and we made a booking for 14 people. Clay showed us the many options they had to accomodate our group. On the day of our brunch, we arrrived at 11:00 am - reservation time. Our table was not ready and we were kept waiting for a good 10 minutes before we were seated. They had split our group into 2 tables. We asked if they could angle the tables so that we could all "seat together" and the manager on duty was not only surly but was rather rude - and replied "Not going to happen!". Our service was slow and the waiter could not remember who ordered what. The food was good overall. We had the hummus and avocado toast at our table while the other table had the charcuterie board. Lots of drink orders as well as food. I also mentioned that it was my husband's birthday that we were celebrating and they did present us with a small cake to celebrate the occasion. Didn't take many photos of our meal as it was a big group. They do have a nice patio set up with a live band over the weekend. The band was pretty good.

What a beautiful place! The aesthetic is 5-star worthy and I appreciate the care that goes into the overall ambiance. The wine and appetizers were lovely and there were plenty of gluten-free options to choose from. The entrees were good but I do have one piece of feedback. Both the burger patty and salmon were extremely seasoned. The fried artichoke hearts as well. Perhaps this was a one-off and we just got unlucky but I would encourage the kitchen to dial it back a bit, especially on the burger and artichoke hearts. My boyfriend, who is so polite he will eat just about anything in front of him, didn't finish his burger because of how salty it was. Not a deal-breaker as our entire experience overall was VERY satisfying. And lastly, I'd definitely come back to see Chip Gale play more live music, too. That was a TREAT!

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Service by the uniformed waiter was fine throughout the evening. Started off with the cornbread and it was ok. The cornbread seems to have been baked and kept in the warmer as it was starting to dry out. The dry aged NY steak was requested medium rare and turned out more like a medium well after sitting on the table for a bit... The NY Steak had a robust meaty flavor. The side of potatoes and char were great. The campanelle pasta was tasty although the pasta may have been a touch over-cooked as the pasta was no longer al dente. There were plenty of mushrooms. The mushroom side dish was rich and rather heavy. The highlight of the evening was the milk jam pudding which was a lighter way to finish off a rather heavy and bold-flavored dinner. ~$110/head after tax and gratuity.

Definitely worth getting the umami fries as they were seasoned to perfection. A perfect starting side! Horsefeather is a perfect brunch spot to stop by and try in this Old Town and Country Palo Alto plaza. I have never heard of this chain nor in their other locations before and was definitely satisfied afterwards with their great dishes and their aesthetically modern decorated interior. The dishes here are American so you'd get what you typically get for breakfast from scrambles to French Toast, and we ordered the French Toast, the Chicken and Waffles, and a Salad during our visit here. All of what was ordered was perfect and beautifully plated upon arrival and out of all that was ordered, I have to say the chicken and waffles with their matcha butter & syrup was their standout dish. I have never seen matcha infused with butter but it was perfect and complimented the waffle just right. The chicken was fried and juicy inside and the waffle in general was toasted with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and soft interior. French Toast was a definite close contender too, where the toast was still gooey soft as expected and served with syrup & cream on the side. Salad was good but nothing too extraordinary about it. The staff here were all very nice and on a busy lunch day, I was surprised & pretty sure just lucky was able to get a table in less than 10 min on a Sunday. For weekend brunch, Horsefeather is a perfect spot to visit & enjoy the pre-afternoon before enjoying Palo Alto.
