    Chips!

This place occupies a spot in my top 5 Bay Area restaurants. It's not the food, the venue or the general ambiance it's the cocktail that all three create together. This is a sum of the parts situation. Homemade chips are a must and the menu from top to bottom falls somewhere between an A and A- depending on dish. It's upscale but still very low key which is the vibe I generally aim for. Parking is plentiful and the drinks are strong. Pro tip they also have a great outdoor area they open for the season beginning in May when the weather heats up. Great place for food or a cocktail and come beginning in May if you want a nice outdoor experience. Enjoy!

Food was excellent, including two vegetarian options. The service as always was very good. We ate on the patio, which was pleasant, except for the noise of the train, El Camino, and planes flying overhead. It actually became comical. This was a Thursday between 5 and 7 PM.

I visited Menlo Tavern with my family for the first time yesterday after it was recommended to us by a friend. The ambiance was amazing, service was great and the food was delicious! The outdoor seating was beautiful and peaceful. Our server Selena was super nice and very attentive, she made our whole experience even better. She let me know about the s'more's experience and it was by far the most fun we've had at any restaurant. The food and drinks were to die for! I can't wait to come back again and again.

Stayed at Stanford Park Hotel. Menlo Tavern is an excellent on-site restaurant. Salmon and Bagel and huckleberry pancakes was a great start to the day for breakfast. For lunch calamari, fire roasted tomato soup. Dinner sourdough bread, butternut squash soup, prime filet mignon. Great experience, excellent food! Cozy dining area, we're seated quickly. Staff very attentive. For the quality of food, the price is what you would expect in Menlo Park. Breakfast 7am to 10:30am, Monday through Friday Lunch 11am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday Dinner 5pm to 9pm nightly Bar open: 4pm to 10pm nightly Weekend Brunch 7am - 2pm, Saturday and Sunday Worth checking out Menlo Tavern even if you are not a guest at the hotel. Plenty of parking. Reservations not needed, but suggested. Enjoy!

My colleague and I came to celebrate the holiday. The restaurant and adjacent hotel are decorated beautifully for the holidays! I started with an enjoyable dirty martini. There was a big group of us so we tried a few apps family style. We started with the beat salad, meatballs & truffle fries. I'm biased because I love a beat salad & this one was not only plated beautifully, it was delicious. The meatballs were juicy & flavorful. & of course the truffle fries were delicious, they also came with some sort of aoli which was a great complement. For my entree I had the mushroom cannelloni, it was just ok. The ends of the pasta were a little dried out, but the filling and mushrooms were good. I felt like it was missing something, maybe more of a sauce. My friend had the scallops which I tried & they were cooked perfectly. To end, we shared the apple bread pudding which was amazing, it tasted like fall! Our server was very attentive & the service was quick. I would definitely come back & I would love to try their brunch!

Went here tonight for Thanksgiving dinner with close friends. Oscar was our waiter. He was phenomenal. For the Christmas holidays they have waived the corkage fee so I brought a bottle of Pierre Jouet Champagne and Mi Sueño Pinot Noir. I had the traditional turkey Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was above phenomenal. My friends had the salmon, the filet mignon medium rare, and the pork chop. We were all so very impressed with the ambience, the comfortable seating, the food and the service .

We had breakfast and also happy hour here. The vibes are chill and the service is Excellent. The food and menu are great too. Lots of university people here too it seemed more administrators and professors than students.

Their French fries!!!! Amazing! We were there for brunch and live band, Slack Tide Current. We also ordered apple pie French toast and Ruben sandwich. Everything was good including service. Although French fries are amazing, it's $19! And our main dishes were $22-24. So it's a very expensive appetizer. We will def go back there sometimes. Just not an every weekend kind of place for us. Their outdoor area is very nice also.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch here! Service was amazing. Food was very good. Yes, a little pricey, but that is expected given the ambiance and location. Their avocado toast was very very good. I would come back!

The usual expensive steakhouse....except I ordered scallop. It was good! Ambience was nice. Food was good. Parking was easy. I would come back for the ambience and sit outside on a nice California evening.

We had a post wedding celebration here at Menlo Tavern. When we visited this restaurant afew days before and spoke to one of the managers, Clay - it was a wonderful experience and we made a booking for 14 people. Clay showed us the many options they had to accomodate our group. On the day of our brunch, we arrrived at 11:00 am - reservation time. Our table was not ready and we were kept waiting for a good 10 minutes before we were seated. They had split our group into 2 tables. We asked if they could angle the tables so that we could all "seat together" and the manager on duty was not only surly but was rather rude - and replied "Not going to happen!". Our service was slow and the waiter could not remember who ordered what. The food was good overall. We had the hummus and avocado toast at our table while the other table had the charcuterie board. Lots of drink orders as well as food. I also mentioned that it was my husband's birthday that we were celebrating and they did present us with a small cake to celebrate the occasion. Didn't take many photos of our meal as it was a big group. They do have a nice patio set up with a live band over the weekend. The band was pretty good.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

I remember Camper being on the Michelin guide, so I had suggested the place for us to try. I made reservations just in case -- you never know how busy Saturday brunch gets. Looked like I didn't have to sweat it as there was ample seating when we arrived. Pretty cool restaurant concept. They really leaned into the camping aesthetic. Earthy tones, paddles as decor, and the bathroom stalls reminded me of public restrooms at campsites (in the cleanest way possible, of course). I even noticed the casual flannel the host wore to match the vibe. Overall customer service was good. Our server was delightful, and I appreciated her genuine excitement of us trying Camper for the first time. She was very proud of our food choices. That said, I did find that the food took a bit of time to arrive at our table. We only ordered entrees, and there was a handful of parties while we were there who were already eating. Not sure what was up with the delay, BUT after eating the food I recognized that you can't rush perfection... My husband ordered the blue ribbon cheeseburger, and I got their basket of famous fried chicken. My husband boldly claimed that Camper's blue ribbon cheeseburger was the best burger he's had in 2026. I wholeheartedly agree. I can't begin to describe how delicious the burger was, and it had the simplest ingredients: bun, burger patty, gruyere cheese, and onion jam. Loved the shoestring fries and homemade dips of garlic aioli and ketchup. This dish will singlehandedly bring us back to Camper. My basket of famous fried chicken was solid. In my mind I was expecting more of buttermilk fried chicken, but it was more in line of popcorn fried chicken. Loved that they used chicken thighs, so every bite was flavorful and moist. The dill ranch was the right complement to the chicken, and I was obsessed with their coleslaw. Basically inhaled it. Camper doesn't skimp on the chicken, so I found this to be a hefty dish with plenty of chicken to enjoy at home.

The menu was a bit of a challenge for me personally, since I'm not big on sheep or goat cheeses and a lot of dishes lean that way, so take my main course review with a grain of salt. I ordered the gnocchi and found it fairly bland. The corn bread appetizer and both salads (tomato and green) were excellent, though, and the rest of my table raved about their burger and risotto, so I think I just picked the wrong dish. My main hesitation is the price. Almost $40 each for the gnocchi and risotto felt steep, even for downtown Menlo Park. Great food overall and a fun spot, but the combination of a so-so main course (my choice, not necessarily the kitchen's fault) and the price point is why I'm landing at 4 stars instead of 5.

The space is sleek, modern, and light-filled, making it a perfect spot to gather with friends for lunch or evening drinks and bites. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Deviled Eggs: A must-order appetizer! Topped with tobiko/caviar, crispy shallots, and chives, they are incredibly creamy with a nice pop of texture and savoriness. Korean Fried Chicken Wings: Crispy, perfectly glazed in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, and topped with sesame seeds. Served with a cool dipping sauce that balances out the heat wonderfully. Tacos (Carnitas & Shrimp): Both taco options were served on warm, fresh corn tortillas topped with pickled red onions, cilantro, and served with a side of slaw and spicy salsa. High quality and super flavorful. Roasted Cauliflower: A gorgeous mixture of purple and white cauliflower tossed with a rich green pesto and drizzle of spicy red pepper sauce. A phenomenal vegetable side with a great kick. French Fries: Golden, crispy, well-seasoned, and served in a massive bowl--perfect for sharing across the entire table. Overall: Excellent presentation, generous portions for small plates, and a super welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're stopping by for creative craft cocktails or grabbing a bite with a group near campus, Horsefeather delivers. Highly recommended!

I got 2 quesobirria tacos and 2 tacos al pastor, and visually everything looked on point -- the plating was clean, tacos looked well-stuffed, and the birria tortillas had that nice golden crisp. But once we started eating, we all felt the same thing: the salsas were lacking flavor. And with tacos like these, good salsa takes everything to the next level. Here, it kind of held them back. They only gave me two tiny lime pieces, and I couldn't even get enough juice out of them to brighten up the tacos. Something so simple, but it makes a huge difference. We also asked for chips and salsa (they're not free), and they never came. Honest mistake -- they were cool about it and took it off the bill -- but still, it added to the overall experience. Another thing: the nopales weren't well cooked or prepped. They had that slightly tough, raw texture instead of the tender, seasoned bite they should have. Flavor-wise, the pastor and birria were decent, but with weak salsa and barely any lime, it felt incomplete. All four of us agreed on the same thing: This place could be great if they tighten up their salsas and the little details. I'd give them another shot someday because the base is there -- they just need that extra punch of flavor to really elevate their tacos.

I found the food to be generally pleasant, and the only thing that is unpleasant is their proximity to the train station that interrupts conversation on an intervalized basis. Old Siam - I see the vision of this luxury take on an old fashioned, which is flavorally accurate. I think the garnish is a bit too simple beyond the block ice to properly convey that look. Roti Mataba - Intriguing dish as I've never seen roti used to encapsulate before, but its smart as it creates a flaky exterior that pairs incredibly well with the curry sauce. Consistently Great Food and Ambiance in Menlo Park…read more I can't believe I haven't written a review sooner--we have been here several times now for both small family dinners and larger group gatherings, and it is a consistent favorite of ours. While the portion sizes are on the smaller side for the price point, the overall dining experience makes it well worth it on occasion. The restaurant has a beautiful, upscale yet bright and reasonably kid-friendly indoor ambiance. Booking online is seamless, and parking is incredibly easy right underground in the Springline lot. The cocktails are good, and you absolutely cannot go wrong with the tea leaf salad, the roti pratha with coconut chicken curry, and the garlic chili prawns. The garlic noodles and fried rice can be a bit hit-or-miss; we have had visits where they are packed with flavor, have a perfect texture, and are a massive hit with the kids, but other times they have turned up a bit bland or with mushy noodles. The manager and staff are friendly and welcoming, and the manager has gone out of their way to accommodate our walk-in group on at least two occasions. My biggest tip is to avoid booking the outdoor seating. It consists of only one or two tables situated right on El Camino Real, making it way too noisy to enjoy your meal. Stick to the gorgeous indoor dining room or bar seating for a solid meal.
