Decided to try it out when we were visiting Hammondsport for the day. It was about 4pm, so we were able to get a table outside in the tent. Our order was taken quickly and food came out fine. But then there was no follow up. My son needed a water refill, bye we couldn't get anyones attention. There was a bigger party there, and we felt a lot of the attention was focused on them. Great local spot in Hammondsport NY. We stopped in for dinner after a day of wine tasting in Keuka Lake. It's a cute little restaurant with a rustic decor. They have limited seating so I recommend you make a reservation. We decided to have the 20oz porterhouse steak special. It comes with potatoes and green beans. We opted for french fries instead. The dish was enough for two people to share. I went with my friend and it was certainly enough food. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly to temperature. It was so tender and delicious! Our first indoor dining experience since this whole Covid pandemic in March 2020, and it was very pleasant! This was a random find on Googlemaps as we were just looking for anywhere in Hammondsport to have lunch that was open today. We walked in, felt the comfortable AC, saw only one other patron inside (we weren't sure if there was inside seating) and were seated promptly. Interior space is small but with a great "Timber Stone" bar/grill character. Host and servers friendly. Mostly lovely experience with one huge negative. Our waitress was very nice, the food was good, but fair warning to any with a perfume or nut allergy - do not use the restroom at this establishment. They have extremely strongly scented rose hand soap in the women's room, which sent my mother into an allergy-induced asthma attack. I was able to sprint to the car and get her inhaler in time, but the way this was handled was very unprofessional. The woman who seemed to be the manager was very friendly initially, checking on our table several times. However, after this event, she was extremely dismissive, walking past our table to check on the tables around us several times. She did not come back to check to make sure my mother was okay and she would not entertain listening to our suggestion that they provide an unscented soap option in the restrooms. I did check the soap in the men's room and it smelled like cherry almond, which also carries concern for the ingredients for someone with a tree nut allergy TL;DR - non-allergy friendly soap in the bathroom and poor management that isn't concerned about what could have been a life-threatening allergic reaction read more

First visit to the Timber Stone Grill while on vacation for my wife's Birthday. They have a nice outside patio seating section to go along with the inside dining and bar. The ambiance is pub style yet the menu and execution are upscale, along with the prices. We started with the Hearts of Romaine salad ($12) to share, a well dressed salad with shaved Parmesan cheese, peppercorn and baguette croutons which was very tasty. Next we had the Tuscan Style Calamari ($16), capers, olives, scallions, sweet peppers, this was very interesting and quite good, not your standard Calamari for sure. The Birthday girl had the Bistro Tenderloin ($38), with green beans and roasted garlic whipped potatoes piped into a decorative pillowy mound. She throughly enjoyed all, the tenderloin cooked to a perfect medium as requested. I went with the Bone in Ribeye ($46), topped with bacon, scallions and blue cheese crust with the green beans and whipped potatoes. My steak was a bit past medium as requested (one side stayed on too long as demonstrated by the uneven ring), the bacon and blue cheese where a nice addition as the steak sans crust was not that flavorful. I didn't feel it warranted the price as this in the league of steakhouses I frequent and this steak wasn't on that level unfortunately. We ended with 2 Lemon Cheesecakes ($8) served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and regrettably raspberry sauce garnish which I feel they should ask if you would like added as neither of us like it. The Birthday girl had hers comped which was very nice. Our server Brian was a star, extremely personable and attentive, it was a pleasure watching him work his other tables as well and make time to chat, then wisk away to handle his next task. WOW. This place...just wow. I've been blown away by their food here. My husband is from the area originally and we currently live in far far away land. Whenever we come into town to visit we've been trying to get into this place but it's always been closed. Granted we're usually back during winter and that's definitely the off season for this town so it's understandable. We were back in spring this time and we finally got to try this place. It's got a really cool inside and nice patio on the side of the building. I started with an old fashioned...meh. Not the best I've had not the worst. I'd get something different to drink next time. Now that that part is over, the food! Our table shared the Tuscan Style Calamari and the Poutine. Both were great. The calamari was light, crispy and super tasty. I loved the addition of the olives and sweet peppers. It really added something to the dish. The poutine was what you would expect. Fries with gravy and cheese curds. It definitely hit the spot. Now there is an option on the menu called Chef's Small Plate Tasting where the kitchen will pick 3 or 5 smaller portioned entrees to give you. DO THIS. I will be doing this every time I come here. If you do the three selection option the price is on par with the other entree options. You get a lot of food with the 3 selection. I could have easily split it with another person... but I didn't want to share. The first selection that the chef sent out was a steak with gorgonzola cheese on a bed of mashed potatoes with a cranberry reduction. Steak was perfect, mashed potatoes were silky smooth and the contrast between the cheese and the reduction was amazing. Next was a crab/lobster cake on a blue cheese slaw. The crab/lobster cake and a lot of seafood in it and the slaw was excellent. Finally was seared scallops with bacon and some kind of spicy sauce. It's a small, quaint restaurant in the Finger Lakes region. Perfect for a bite to soak up all the local wine and beer from surrounding wineries and breweries. There is not much parking, only four or five spots. There is street parking but in that area of Hammondsport there are little shops and other restaurants so you may have to get out your hiking boots. There was indoor seating as well as a tent for outdoor seating . I would not say the menu is huge but there is enough variety to satisfy both a more sophisticated palate as well as a picky eater. When in doubt...get grilled cheese! It was filled with aged cheddar, Swiss and Brie and came with a side of tomato bisque. We both didn't get the fries or salad which you get a choice of. I wanted dessert and ended up chocolate chip pie. It was $8.00 which I felt was little overpriced. (My bill came to $25.00 for the soup, sandwich and pie. Not a cheap place. The pie was so rich and decadent. I don't normally think things are too sweet but my face was scrunching up because of how sweet and rich it was. I only could stand to eat half. It was delicious though. Service was great and we were sat promptly but I felt like I was sitting on top of another table! The food was great. I had the grain bowl with spicy shrimp, which was light, flavorful, and just the right amount of spicy. My husband got the pork mac and cheese, which he said was great. His portion was large enough that he had to get a box. The service was awesome. We sat outside and the waitress was so attentive. The hostesses were great too. I'm very happy Timber Stone is able to continue to operate during Covid. I have had several experiences over the years and never wrote a review! To be honest the menu never enticed me, so I've sat at the bar, had drinks and ordered apps (apps here are always good) several times. HOWEVER, this was my year...I went twice for dinner - the first time with neighbors and the 2nd time on a date. The first time was on a Friday, and we sat outside in their little tented area, they had a fish fry special and most of the party ended up ordering that. I was pleasantly surprised. There was a HUGE piece of fish and the fries were great! They're certainly not stingy about portions or sauces. The fish wasn't oily or too greasy and perfectly cooked. Service was wonderful and friendly! I even ran into an old winery acquaintance. Dinner couldn't have gone better, we weren't rushed and service was perfectly timed as well as super friendly! 2nd time was a weekday on a date. It was Tuesday, basically no where else in town is open in the fall on Tuesdays that's a respectable "fancy" date spot. Practically no one was there, which is nice and expected. It is fall in the finger lakes, who's really around. We ordered the tuscan calamari and the spicy shrimp as apps. Both I know are very good and very consistent. He ordered the special 20oz porter house and I got the mixed grill (salmon, tenderloin and scallops). I may not have read the menu correctly but it was ONE scallop. His food was great and cooked to his liking, I wasn't asked about how I wanted my tenderloin so it came out medium well, I prefer medium rare. The standout of my dish was the salmon. So if you're stuck between what to get, always get the salmon it's excellent! read more

We were in the area tasting wine and needed lunch. Stopped by without a reservation and got lucky to grab the only open table. This is a farm to table restaurant. The decor inside is really nice. Customer Service is top notch and the food is amazing. The Staff is trained which these days is hit or miss at most places. Our Server was Kalon and she was phenomenal. All Servers were seen passing by tables belonging to someone else but picked up empty dishes anyway. The variety of food on the menu will allow anyone something to choose. They also have local wine and Craft Beers on the list. You won't be disappointed if you stop by. We liked it so much we're heading back for dinner. I stopped by here after wine tasting at nearby vineyards. Hammondsport is such a beautiful small town. The lake is just a short walk from this restaurant. This restaurant had THEE BEST customer service I've seen in years. We are from the Philly area and people aren't usually this nice in our area lol. The person answering the phone, the manager, the servers, even the kitchen guy/cook who was helping run giant trays of food outside were all awesome and everyone worked together so well and seemed like they actually enjoyed their jobs. The peanut butter pie was so good as was the spicy shrimp. My burger was good but I was expecting the horseradish burger to taste like it actually had horseradish and really couldn't taste it all. My husband and I come here every year for our anniversary. The food is AMAZING. My husband gets the Porterhouse and although I am a vegetarian, it looked yummy. When we arrived there was a nice table with our name on it waiting our arrival. We all shared a charcuterie board before enjoying our entrees. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals.
